It's the time of year were we think of those less fortunate than us, while you may be getting a season ticket, Playstation, XBOX or a new TV, just think there is some poor sod out there getting a Liverpool shirt for Christmas.

Seasons Greetings to all the Eds and posters and a big thanks for all the entertainment, banter, opinions and passion over the last year.
Spending Christmas in an all blue London household with the one and only son and grandson a good 200 miles away from all the rest of the red nosed family.
Picking up on some recent post regarding selections and formations. 442 has been successful for decades and we were undone last week by a team that I believe were far inferior on paper but not in terms of organisation and passion. I look back to the late Howard's team of the 80's, again on paper not the obvious best eleven individuals you could pick, but well organised, passionate, not afraid to score from a set piece or even a long throw, undoubted team spirit and a little bit nasty. I think the present team can be bullied too easily and a lot of the so called lower teams are getting results against us. The fact that we concede from set pieces and can't score from them is criminal too.
Think we are crying out for a bit more bite in midfield which is why I would welcome McCarthy and Besic back in the side. I would prefer Joel in goal. Galloway at left back (we have dropped points getting Baines back to full fitness) I can't justify a place for Kone in the side and think Barkley is better higher up the pitch. We have had no balance left midfield all year and I think Barry is a good enough player creatively to play there, pace isn't everything.
Just a few drink induced thoughts.

Hi all,

Long time daily reader - first time poster. Love this forum and want to wish all fellow blue noses a merry Christmas. Swan- you are becoming a bit of a legend on here!

I had a season ticket in the dark days between 96 and 01 (lower Glawdys) but since moving to Yorkshire probably make about 5 or 6 games a season.

I took my lad to the Leicester game and it's the first time I've sat in the Family Enclosure (apart from the away end it's the only part of the ground I haven't sat in) .

The seats were incredible, being 2 metres from the pitch, in line with the subs bench and 5 metres from Martinez on the touch line. I also had Jags, McCarthy and Naisy just behind me sitting outside their box.

The reason I'm going on about this is that it gave me a completely new perspective on the game, virtually pitch side and listening/watching everything Martinez, the players communication and the atmosphere that was created primarily from the Glawdys and the away end.

And these are my thoughts. I thought the atmosphere was really poor and that was reflected in the players apathetic start to the game. After the disappointing draws we were all desperate for the 3 points- knowing that Leicester would be up for it and have their tails up.

From 2.30 onwards the Glawdys should have been bouncing and getting the players fired up to hit em hard from the off. If we'd done that and given Geri and Rom an extra spring in their step from the off I trully believe we'd have seen a different first half. Conversely, the Leicester fans were non stop.

So my question is, we all have our opinions on Martinez, tactics, Kenwright, team selection etc but do you think as fans we could be doing more to create the right atmosphere from before kick off to the last kick and create a proper fortress Goodison?

Secondly, I was shocked at how little Martinez did/ sais on the touch line throughout, reactive not proactive to Leicester's approach and the 2-1 lead until it was too late. Ranieri knew exactly what he was doing and there were simply no signs that we were going to adapt. Also, every time he spoke to Geri, Geri looked pissed off and disinterested. I love Geri but you could tell with the atmosphere/ pissing rain and his general demeanour, it was not going to be his day. If I can see that, than how the hell did he not get KM on sooner? I also felt like going up to the box and singing (think The First Noel Carol tune) Joel! Joel! Joel! Joel! Now is the time, to play Joel! You're done, you're done, you're done, you're done, thank you Tim but youuuuu are done!

Anyway, here's to a positive 2016 and new investment. I honestly think this squad is the best I've seen in the 25 years I've been watching the blues and has the potential to actually challenge.

Something I agree with you as well bluecorny! I wouldn't write Pienaar off yet. We all want Mirallas playing but at least Pienaar would be a change. He deserves a chance after what he's been through with injury.

He has until the end of the season to prove his worth. As I said he should be given the chance while he's here and then reassessed at the end of the season.

is right nbtb and if he proves his worth another year contract would not go a miss I just think the man is a game changer.

I would love to know who the other fish are in this consortium cause from what I read these two guys alone would not have the money to take Everton to the next level and as Bill says he will only sell to people who have the money to do that. So there has to be a big fish involved in this consortium the reports says both sides of the Atlantic and as Peter Reid said if Bill says it's ok get it done. Hoping for light at the end of the tunnel here. Merry Christmas everyone hope you all have a smashing Christmas and happy new year.

As someone else said, this appears every year round a bout this time, Everton wish to deflect criticism or some such so we get, 'New Ground agreed' and/or 'Consortium interested in investment', my personal feeling is it isn't Bill and the only way something positive will happen is when we get a new CEO. Likewise any criticism of Mr Martinez is met with derision. Everton currently sitting in 10th is agreed but countered with yes but we are playing lovely football and have one of the best Squads we have ever had. Even punters and commentators cannot see anything wrong with the current set-up and Mr Martinez is met with nothing but praise. I have only heard one person come close to the mark and that was Martin Keown who said that actually Everton are under-performing. I love this Club with all my heart and genuinely want us to do well, not just win one game and Mr Martinez is the messiah once again. The investment should it turn out to be genuine this time is the one thing we can hold onto because it will either give Martinez the boot up the backside he should have had by now or if he does not respond then out the door. that's it now until next year.

I wish I could tell you more about these investors over here in the U. S. Moore did own the San Diego baseball team for almost 2 decades. I checked and they had 8 winning seasons. The won their division 4 times and lost the World Series to the evil New York Yankees.

I was excited a few months ago when rumors of U. S. investors surfaced, those that had some experience with MLS and the National Football League.

So I suppose they are looking for a good place to stash several hundred million dollars in an entity that should not depreciate (save for relegation) and that has a steady cash flow (television money from Sky) and has potential growth (FA Cup, Champions League) .

They can't try to plunder the team, strip it down and flip the sale (that would risk relegation and a loss of investment value)

Overall I suppose its good (better than a shady oil baron who roomed at boarding school with Vlad Putin) . Time will tell.

Also I did find a solution to a vexing problem. Every Saturday or Sunday morning I turn on the Everton game on NBC, my five year old immediately starts cheering for the other team, be it Chelsea or Northwest Yucktown Athletic.

I bought him a home kit from Kitbag. It arrived in a week. Now I hope is support is guarenteed.

COYB and top 4 in 2016.
