See the ozzie bashers are out in force, give the guy a break he wasnt the worse player today, mirellas was piss poor again, at times his decosion making is crap doesn't appear to have much pace and can't seem to beat fullback when 1 on 1.
Although he wasnt in the game much ozzie didn't do much wrong when he had the ball, he didn't create anything but he was playing holding role and neither he or felli have the pace to get forward from that position

Said on RMs appointment I was very concerned for our future but would back him. I got absolutely blasted!
But come on guys it will take time if he is going to succeed and we are no worse off at this moment than last season.
Give the guy a chance, I wanted VP but will watch and hopefully see improvements, IF BK keeps his promises! (And that's the thing that's really worrying me!)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well we are worse off, we had 6 points this time last season, we have 2 this season

2 seasons back Wes Brom smashed us 4 0 at home.

It will take time

That looked like Wes Brown there on a smaller screen. Was going to say I can't remember playing Wes Brown on his own and getting smashed.

Haven't seen the game but have read a few reports.
Sounds like we need a creative midfielder and another striking option. Preferably both top class and not as replacements to any would be leavers. At least we kept a clean sheet and are unbeaten.
It will come. Stay positive

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be honedt aw I did see the match and at times it was borin but to be fair we should have won it hands down with the chances and shots we had plus there keeper kept them in the match til he got brought off through injury. What I will say is are attacking display shows a lot of promise and barkley tried his hardest to do us justify it and no he never should have got a yellow perfectly good tackle all in all we should of won but new tactics and bad luck let us down mate

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2013 20:51:41
After watching todays display and giving it some thought whilst at 0-0 and had a really good chance at winning would we bring on nairubbish let's face it is not a game changing player at all and on the bench we have defelou one of the hottest prospects in spain who could bring somthing to the game but what do I know rm must see somthing in training that the rest of us don't se on match days

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give Deulofeu time. I agree, it's disheartening to see Naismith come on ahead of him, but Deulofeu joined the squad later not having a proper preseason- is only very young and at a much higher league level then he's ever played regularly at before. I'm sure he'll have a good input this season, but we may well have to be patient for it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hold on guys early days give him a chance, but let's just hope that billy boy gives him the cash he promised and I am sure we will be ok

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate step back and assess, a laughing stock no defo not we didn't find the net today and we wernt at our best granted but we never look in trouble and the poor teams like you say wba finished 8th behind us and pool no shame in that, that's respecatable and nowrich will do quite well they have spent wisely,, also it makes no odds who we play its football if every good team beat every poor tyeam I would win every footy coupon

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2013 20:34:31
Very disappointing today we are far too slow in the build up of our play, I know we were unlucky in the end, but we need to do things with more pace and urgency it was only when we did we looked dangerous, that's two games against two poor teams we should have won, for me we need Moses and a dominating midfielder, Osman lacks the pace and strength now, Naismith coming on for a lacklustre Mirallas was another failure, I only hope we get a couple of first teamers not more squad players, or we may be in trouble this season. KK.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We baddly need a centre mid to replace osman .ross was trying his best but realy needs help in there this is not a dig at osman but you have to replace him now to move forward.

Roberto Martinez. "It's fair to say we were frustrated, if you look at the amount of possession we had and the opportunities we had.

"West Brom were really organised and stayed deep, trying to counter-attack, but we coped with their threat really well.

"We had the chances to win the game, we deserved a win and we deserved three points. We were magnificent off the ball."

If you can be bothered to look he used this excuse many times at Wigan.

Moyes is saying he'd do what's best for the players. Then why doesn't he let Rooney go? If that's what Wayne wants, then it'll be best for him yeh? Used to love Moyesy to bits! Really starting to dislike him now.

On july 4th, I said drop the idea of KONE, and I got slammed on here, he has shown NOTHING to warrant his price tag. NAISMITH, short and sweet, should have been more alert, any other Premier league attacking player would have popped that in. We were worse than average today, I have said before we got a Relegated manager, and even now its showing how NEGATIVE he is. apart from the last 10 mins, we were a shambles, Fellani did not want to be there, Baines was not much better. can't wait for Cardiff, if they turn us over, maybe all my knockers will see the light with this fella. Champions League, we are so far away from that, someone better tell BK. oh forgot Wednesday night should be fun on that HORRIBLE performance. have not heard what the man of many excuses has said. roll the old ones up from wigan? {Ed025's Note - you, and many others, need to get a grip biffy, second competitive match, new manager, new system, i thought we were better than that guys..

Everton 1- Arsenal 6, there is a performance on that level for the first home game of the season!

Again good possession but nothing to show for it! Jelavic was poor, did everyone see his dive in the second half? He is getting worse! Fellaini just doesn't look interested if he wants to go then let him go but make utd pay! Barkley was class again, Coleman played well, kone looked good when he came on I think he should get a start midweek! Hopefully gibbo will be back next weekend and Osman will be dropped! We need to up the pace a bit we were too slow building play up, just quicken things up and we will make a lot more chances!
Lets get a good win on Wednesday, build up some confidence and let's the league by storm!

Many times Moyes referred to MY TEAM rather than Everton.I think despite spending 11 years with us, he was always thinking of us as a stepping stone in his career and never fell in love with Everton. He always made ingratiating comments about SAF and Manchester United and said himself he always hoped he would be considered for the job.
His comments about doing the best for the player is nonsense and a complete contradiction of his earlier stances. But from Evertons point of view, we must do the best for the immediate future. After watching today's performance which was rather frustrating at times, it still showed that we need Baines but that Fellaini is replaceable, and we might get the better of the deal if we get 25 million and invest it wisely on two players. Osman invisible today and we need more in the engine room and creativity

I don't like kicking a man when he is down, particularly when he's a good evertonion, but ossie no longer merits a place in the side, I watch him in the preseason game, away at norwich, and to-day. he never posed any danger in or around there box, and in defence he was a liability. Don't pretend to no what's wrong, but we cannot go on playing with 10 men.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought todays game would have been right up big Vic's street and he would have got the better of their 2 centre backs all day long.I don't think we should not play with just 1 striker against these teams who clearly just come to defend and get a their point.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2013 18:34:15
I really can't understand why we bought Kone. He is so similar to Big Vic. who is probably well cheesed off. If Martinez is not that impressed with Big Vic he should have sold him for say 2-3 million? and put that towards the 6 million paid for Kone plus whatever is left in the kitty now and bought a better quality striker. For around say 10 million. I bet Victor will soon get really cheesed off and his value will drop because he is not in with a shout. I also don't think the substitutions were any more attack minded than ones Moyes used to make. But I guess 2 draws is better than we usually start.

Absolute tosh, very very poor, its all well and good having 25 passes in your own half, we had no urgency whatsoever today and big feli looks like he's already gone, reminded my of Lescots performace a couple years back. Top sides will destroy us if we play like that, Naismith should not be allowed to call himself a footballer( he can't tackle, pass and has the touch of a 7 year old girl) and what the hell has happened to Ozzi. Can somebody please explain how from a throw in at their corner flag that our goal keeper ends up with the ball after 3 passes! The ball went out with 3 minutes to go and nobody seemed interested in getting the ball, or getting on with the game!
I bloody furious after that game, it was there for the taking!

I am so so disappointed with today's performance, complete and utter lack of urgency, so little chances created no one looked like scoring all game on multiple occasions we had Coleman/baines in good crossing positions and just jelavic in the box, I mean it's all well and good having 60-70% possession but were not creating anything and I'm struggling to see any of our current strikers as good enough. but the thing the disappointed me most was on the 70th minute we had a corner and we had 3 men in the box! 3 bloody men no distin or jagielka what the hell is that about?! In my oppion we NEED another striker and another cam (providing no one leaves) and if noone comes in I honestly think our season ambition will be top 8. Sorry for the rant but that performance had very few positives in my eyes, mirallas was very poor, jelavic was always offside, didn't see osman do anything apart from the volly we need gibbo back soon! Though Ross played reasonably, looked to go foward at every oppertunity but was a bit selfish at times, and apparently foster had to go off due to boredom. let's hope for better performances in the rest of the season. David Moyses has now stated he would let LB & MF to leave (not stand in their way), if SAF approached him for them last summer in the transfer window. This is unbelievable and pathetic from DM. Since he has joined Manchester United from the mighty, he is becoming bery arrogent. In fact we all know that he block any transfer as they are our better players. "to better their careers". Obviously they cannot better careers at Everton? What are your thoughts Ed? {Ed013's Note - Really, I am sure he would!!! Tongue in cheek! Looks like we have a new SAF in the seat!}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would agree with you valuation, we paid 17.5 - 19.5 m for felli with all add ons we have to pay 20% to leiage anything less than 30m is not really good business by the club and baines is 18 mil due to age he stll has 3-4 years he will last lnger than vp. I would not sell for less than 48 mil but I think 40-45 mil bill would see £££££ signs.

Maybe we should ask to take Kagawa and Hernandez for £6m as it's a World Cup year and sitting on the bench isn't good for their careers and would be better off leaving for first team football.

Re his quote that they may not bring in any players this summer, is he getting his excuses in early so he can say he failed not with his own squad but with SWN's squad. The half hearted attempts to bring in Fellaini and Baines maybe he doesn't really want them that badly as he won't have the above excuse if he brings in his own players?

Far fetched maybe but could it be he's realising his own limitations and the size of the job?

We are not holding back the careers of either player. We will sell them. But only for what we consider their real value. If Moyes is feeling we are holding back their careers, then he must be thinking they are valuable assets. In which case come back with an offer that we feel warrants interest and then we will see what happens.

I 2002 Everton FC provided David Moyes with the platform to expand his budding managerial career and establish his reputation. Eleven seasons later he has landed the biggest job in English football. Whatever your opinion of Bill Kenwright you've got to admit he stuck by his man. Moyes would never have lasted 11 years at another club. When Everton finished 17th in 2004 and scored only 45 goals all season he would have been sacked by most club chairmen including some Everton has had in the past. I can certainly think of one who would have invited him to share a London taxi. Sacked by Everton after two seasons. It could have all been different Mr Moyes. You may never have got another chance in the Premiership. So next time you feel inclined to be disrespectful to your former employer, please reflect upon the distinct possibility that you probably wouldn't be the Manchester United manager today if it hadn't been for the opportunity and support provided by Everton FC.

I was a staunch supporter of DM during his eleven years at Everton - although I wasn't averse to criticising some of his tactics and team selections, especially the "bottling" in big matches or against so-called big teams - but his behaviour and comments regarding his bids for Fellaini and Baines have been atrocious IMHO. Bidding for our players isn't the issue, but the disruptive way it's conducted is. I still thank him for what he did during most of those eleven years with us, but that's history and he is now stirring up such anger amongst many Evertonians that his reception when ManUtd play at Goodison will surely be hostile bordering on hatred - and not the warm polite appreciation he could have had if he'd behaved more respectfully. Do we now have a person even more disliked than referee Collina or, for even older posters, referee Clive Thomas?

I'm seriously beginning to think that moyes real problem is that he is worried about Martinez actually doing a lot better with the tean than he did, which is why he is trying to destabilise our squad after what has been an encouraging start by Martinez. He will have noted already that we possess one of the highest possession statistics already, something which he never achieved at any time under his 11 year tenure & I genuinely think he is worried that roberto will win some form of silverware or achieve something where he never actually did. Roll on Man U at Goodison, let's give him the most hostile reception ever, the guy has showed no respect to our club whatsoever & he just keeps continually contradicting himself in the things he keeps saying.
By the way, Barry on loan & maybe Moses I think will happen before the window closes, if baines goes we should replace him immediately with Luke shaw who is an even brighter prospect for 10 million.

I am glad he is no longer our manager. No he is United's, I feel he thinks he is billy big time and can do what he wants. A total lack of respect and dignity. Don't give a toss for the views of a second rate c/back who could not make it in mickey mouse league of scotland, and who then scraped out his football in the lower english leagues. The MAN IS A FRAUD, AND WILL SOON BE EXPOSED AS ONE.

Moyes saying he wouldn't stand in the way of a player? He basically had hold of lescotts leg when he was leaving he wouldn't let him go sorry but the man is a beaut and wants to unsettle Martinez because Martinez is going to do what he couldn't win at the "big" clubs away and bring home some trophys but most of all get the atmosphere back the old lady

To the original poster, 100 per cent spot on mate, and Ed025, totally agree too. I spent a couple of hours thinking how to respond to his " Everton are holding the two players back" press conference, and i'm fuming. I personally defended Moyes to the hilt, even forgave him, he deserved a chance at a club like Man Utd, where he could finally spend money, but it seems that he's forgotten his managerial roots, and his 11 years with us never meant a thing. I was taught as a kid, by my Glaswegian Nan, to never bite the hand that fed you, it seems that Moyes wants to gnaw the arm off us, unforgiveable. You've lost all my respect Davie, hopefully your stay at Manchester United is a short one.

Spot on WHY IS HE DOING THIS TO US .

If things don't work out for moyes at man u he could always get a new career in demolitions, I don't think I've ever seen anyone burn so many bridges so quickly.

Just seen Moyes comments about Fellaini and Baines

"I know that if I'd been Everton manager and Sir Alex had come asking for Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini, I'd have found it very difficult to keep them because I always felt the right thing to do was what was right for the players, " Moyes said

the *******, yeah he wouldn't of stood in the way but also wouldn't let us get screwed over the fee now he's tying to screw us

So Baines and Fellaini need to move to Manchester United for the good of their careers do they?
TBH I think Moyes moving to Manchester United is to the detriment of his career. His comments in the press and new attitude towards anything that is not red is slowly but surely losing him all the respect he built up both with Everton fans and the footballing community in general.
He is acting like a petulant child because he is not getting his own way, ala Sir Whisky Nose. Is this really Moyes' attitude or is SWN pulling his strings from above?
I really hope Moyes has a terrible season and is chased out of Old Trafford by the fans; as has been said on this site many times before, the grass is not always greener on the other side.

I think Moyes is a disgrace for not selling Baines to Man United last summer and holding back his career. Hypocracy of the highest order.

Right since Moyes has left Martinez has answered a lot of questions for me about him and that is without actually saying anything.Martinez pumps the confidence into the players without fear he plays different systems and also gives our opposition respect without giving them too much.Moyes was quoted as saying were holding back Baines and the afro one but eh did you not hold Everton back mr Moyes bottling a cup final and semi final failing in the race for fourth because you play a 451 system at home to teams like Norwich and we end up dropping points because instead of going out and finishing teams of like that you try and sit on a 1 nil lead.Bottling going to the big grounds like UTD and so on which instead of putting confidence into your team you put the fear of God into them you also use to chuck your dummy out of the pram and sit there with a big spoiled head on you when the lads were not playing well instead of getting up and doing your job.See I never realised all this when he was in charge of us.

I have just read the article in the Guardian were Moyes claims Everton are wrong not to sell MF and LB because we are holding back their careers, and if he was Everton manager he would find it hard not to let them go as he always 'done what's right for the players'. What a f@#king hypocrite. What an ar@s-hole.

I had so much time for Moyes when he was at Everton and defended him many a time on this site. I'm just amazed at how low this man can go

I have never wanted someone to fail as much as I want him to at Man Utd. I'll watch with such glee as the Manchester United fans start to give him rubbish and the press start to say he's out of his depth. Did anyone hear his press conference yesterday, what a miserable man, how did we put up with that for so long?

8-12 months he'll be sacked, he can f@#k-off to Germany them and manage some rubbish team like Hamburg.

One more point, does anyone else think that the pathetic bid for LB and MF on the eve of our first game was just as much about unsettling Everton, as trying to get the players on the cheap. Moyes has proved how much of a low life he really is, I'm sure he would he hate to see Martinez come in and get off to a good start.

Moyes is a hypocrite. He says we should let Baines and Fellaini go but at the same time says that Rooney is going nowhere.

I think we have all seen the real moyes now not only is he trying to unsettle the players but with the I speak to BK every week I think he is trying to unsettle our manager I mean why would they be speaking every week is he trying to undermine BK and RM relationship as much as we want DM to fail at Man U it's clear that DM wants bobby to fail big time telling him to sell his best players and all that someone needs to tell him it's not HIS club no more you can't have an influence on us no more so do one and here's hoping bobby can succeed where moyes failed and bring us some silverware!

Mr moyes at everton we don't hold people's careers back. Some excellent prospects come to our great club through hard work dedication and love from the goodison faithful they become good players and are wanted by other teams.

Do you not recall 11yrs ago at Preston everton came calling and you worked hard. We didn't win anything but you improved us greatly. Your reward was Manchester United coming I'm for you . I for one thought you deserved the chance being fed buttons by BK.

However moyes we do not sell cheap or sell for half price to utd just because your utd.

WE ARE EVERTON

Mr moyes show some class and a little bit more of respect. The fans who adored you will not wish you to fail.

AN OPEN LETTER TO SIR DAVID MOYES:

Dear Sir David,

Thank you for your extraordinary humanitarian interest in the careers of Mr. Felliani and Mr. Baines. A lesser man would have forgotten his small club over in Merseyside. From your enormous Scottish heart, you have reached out to help the less fortunate.

Do not forget dear Everton. Ask Saint Alex for a few alms for the poor. Perhaps 50 million in transfer fees, as your efforts at Man United are purely humanitarian in nature.

Oh, but what of the career of Mr. Evra, will not be playing left out instead of left back? Send him over too. Will not the midfield be too crowded for Mr. Carrick? Oh, send him too.

Thank you again, Sir David.

I have spent most of this evening seething at the lack of respect shown us by our former manager. However after reading possibly hundreds of comments on numerous sites I think I understand that the problem is in Moyes's head.

Moyes was an average, underachieving footballer who found success the only way he could, through the talent of better players. Because of this Moyes has an inferiority complex, he doesn't like players standing up to him, he doesn't like strong characters and he certainly doesn't like high profile players who intimidate him.

During his time with us Moyes was renowned for his dour defensive tactic (note the singular tactic as he had only one). This is enough to stabilise teams, which can earn you credibility and the adoration of fans who have spent years fearing relegation. However it does not get you onto the top table.

This dour play was purely out of fear. In his eyes better to get beat 2-1 or hold out for a draw than to really go for it and show he had nothing to offer. Moyes fear was that he would eventually be found out as a one trick pony and with that would go his dream job at Man Utd.

Moyes strung us along for the last 10 years, kissing Fergusons backside along the way, keeping this dour, boring regimented persona going instead of pushing the club forward like he was paid to do.

Roll on Manchester United at Goodison, I really, really can't wait.

I think moyes is making a total cock up of tryin to be clever .he just sounds arrogant patronising and stupid .the one person who he is laying bare is kenwright .the one person who gave him a chance .forget about moyes and bills special relationship this is now about evertons fans and there chairmans relationship .utd and moyes think we're a feeder club if we sell these two to utd .bill has no way back in my eyes and will probably get abit of feedback to say the least at match 2 day .i hope bill stands up .
