If (when?) we move into a new stadium, what should its name be?
Should we:
(1) Retain the name 'Goodison Park' - perhaps calling it 'New Goodison Park'?
(2) Have a new name - such as 'The Walton Hall Park Arena'?
(3) Sell the naming rights for mega bucks?
I accept that our options are limited if we don't own the stadium and are only leasing it.

'The People's Stadium', a lasting monument to DM!

If things go ahead according to plan and the move goes ahead, I'd like to think that Goodison could be incorporated into the name in some shape or form. 'The New Goodison' sounds good to me. Milwall did this, although it would appear that other teams have taken the golden dollar and sold out to advertising. Arsenal, Man City and even the likes of Stoke, Bolton and Coventry.
I do hope that we are different and that our history and heritage can be continued and remembered for future generations. We might not be able to continue to stay at Goodison for financial reasons but let's allow for some of the nostalgia to travel with us.

I'd be more interested in the name of the stands than the stadium name if I'm honest. One stand I'd like to keep is the gwladys for sentimental reasons, but on the other hand I'd like the stands potentially named after past icons as dixie, sheedy, kendall, ball, royle, fergie, southall. too many to mention them all. With this in mind we could cover a substantial part of the cost of building the stadium through the naming rights.
Agree0
Disagree0
As the street names wouldn't coincide with a change of area then the names of all stands apart from main stand for obvious reasons would all change, I'm guessing who ever invests in the stadium would want there name in there, I.e the tesco stadium when the Kirkby project had legs for a while

Dont be trying too hard Dags, I think one of us will slip up to a team we should beat mate, maybe the Geordies can provide a miracle but doubt it, their team is decent on paper but awful on the pitch

Hi ed, what would you think about going after sneijder. He is a serious player get him reasonable and would be on low wages in Turkey. I think if we can get CL qualification he has the CL pedigree we need. I'd welcome any comments on this. Also is this Walton hall development for new stadium serious.

{Ed025's Note - sneijder is quality EB, but he is not on low wages mate, im not sure on the stadium yet, but hopefully we will find out soon..
He is on 100k a week or more I think.when talk of Manchester United wanting him I think figures of 250k a week were mentioned.he would be after a mega bucks deals as his career winds down.

Hi all getting to that stage of the season again, Who would you class as our 5 best players of the season.
1.S, Coleman easily the best right back in the league.
2.J, McCarthy incredible engine, star in the making.
3.S, Distin mister reliable, rarely has a bad game.
4.G, Barry odd poor game but all in all excellent season.
5.L, Baines average season by his standard, but set the bar so high.
Who is your 5 best in order?
Believable0

I would have Howard in there, he really has upped his game

1.barry, sees passes that don't look possible, tidies up and has scored 3 goals, which puts him just above mccarthy
2.mccarthy, plays with such tenacity and loves a tackle, mr reliable aswell, everton him
3.coleman, improved so much this season but hasn't done it in a lot of games and has been caught out a few times
4.distin, marks strikers out the game, so fast and strong, just has the odd lapse of concentration
5.howard, some great saves this season but still has a few mess ups, improved though
Agree0
Disagree0
1. Seamus Coleman - presently the best RB in this country, possibly in Europe. Scores more regularly than any other as well
2. James McCarthy - 13 million now looks a snip. Ferocious and tenacious in the tackle.
3. Silvan Distin - simply oozes class and the years don't appear to have caught up with him either.
4. Bryan Oviedo - maybe a strange choice for some but he came in at a crucial period before Christmas for Leighton and never let us down before his unfortunate double leg break.
5. Steven Naismith - again a controversial choice although he has waited patiently for his chance and has delivered some important goals of late. An unsung hero amongst many others.

I see only 27% of you Gents think you will finish above Arsenal. Very interesting.
PS, why are you nicknamed The Toffees?
(Serious question).

Think the shakey game could be their last game vs norwich who are fighting to stay up. The obvious game for us hinging on whether we can beat or draw against city.
could be an interesting final day of the season

So the Managers Association are 'very disturbed' at the way Moyes was sacked and will investigate it. Jolly good gentlemen and while you do that try investigating how he was appointed in the first place.
Don't let anyone hold their breath on that one!

Woburn he got 10 months wages which equalled close to 5 million then another 5 million pay off, can't understand why some fans feel sorry for managers like they are on the mancs pages mate, any other job where you failed you would be booted out the door with nothing, he will walk into another multi million pound job by the summer, the Geordies are welcome to him
Agree0

{Ed025's Note - im thinking of having a whip round for him murph..what do you think mate?..
Too right Mushy. We shouldn't let this drop. Old whisky nose poached him illegally last summer and now they reaped their rewards. What goes round comes round. Just desserts. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
COYB. Three points at the weekend will do nicely.

You can't really think Lukaku has been a better player than Luis Suarez, Sunny.
Lets be honest, Suarez has been head and shoulders above everyone in the league this season. He has been on a different planet to the rest.
I agree with the other 10 though.

Coutinho.
can't argue that liverpools forwards play this season has been 2nd to none this season and is why they sit where they are and their competitive edge comes from all the players in my team of the season. Hope our free flowing football can rival that next season quite similarly. Their 1st season with br was poor, but this year its clicked. We have clicked during the last 5 months or so, start the season how we have begun the 2nd half of this season and we'll be fighting for the league. Just hope we get our deserts this season with top 4 finish.
Agree0

{Ed025's Note - i have to disagree with mignolet and coutinho craig, not because they are reds, but mignolet is an accident waiting to happen, and coutinho blows hot and cold...just my oplnion..
Does anyone not think McCarthy deserves a shout at the least? don't know where he'd fit into the team of the season (who he'd replace in it) but personally think he's had an outstanding season?
Agree0

{Ed025's Note - he has tony, your dead right mate..
24 Apr 2014 22:26:43
I could replace mignolet with cech. There's a reason why chelsea finish the season commonly with fewest goals conceded. As for coutinho, I would maybe move hazard from the 3 man midfield into the wide striker and select our very own james mac. The field area the guy covers per game is astounding, he is solid in the tackle breaking up countless counter attacks, does his job so well, and he is now looking such a cheap quality acquisition by rm.

Too many clubs and their fans think they "belong" in certain positions - I hope we're not like those deluded ones.
There are loads of clubs that - based on money spent, size of fanbase, history and tradition, etc. - should still be successful, but have failed and are now just also-rans or faded giants.
It's great to be ambitious - and RM is showing that we can deliver - but you earn success by properly running the football club and playing winning football.
