Fans need to stop getting their knickers in a twist. For once I agree with Martinez. January is not a time you'll improve he squad with a big name player. Middle of the Season, why would any club want to sell their prized asset then, if only for an inflated price or they are out of contract at the end of the Season. So let's stop banding these names around, we don't have that kind of money, yet! Think about it, we only sold Naisy because they were willing to spend 8.5 mil on him, I mean he was 3 or 4th in line for the team, 8.5 mil! Loved Naisy but no way in a million years is he worth that much.

Regarding below comments I would be more central to all views really. I'm a realist and will see it as it is.

I don't moan but will say something negative if I think its true. Like Duncansmum I wouldn't be as big a critic as you on Martinez but you say he's a good coach. I don't agree with this. Attacking coach yes fantastic. Long time since we had the exciting football we have now which is brilliant for everyone.

The bit I disagree with is he's obviously diabolical at coaching defence. Dropped 11 points in last 6 games from winning positions. I don't care how positive you are that's bad and needs addressing. Don't think I know better than Martinez but I'm sure he himself would agree with that.

Having said all that there is a lot of time until the end of the season. Martinez may yet get the act together. If he sorts the keeper and defence along with getting cover up front we would be a real force in contending for CL.

He deserves until the end of the season at least. As regards transfers I get excited as anyone when signing new players. Any players but please fellow blues be realistic about it. We would do very well to hold onto players we have. The squad is pretty full and does need trimming. I imagine the wage structure is pretty full until the summer at least.

Patience I think would go a long way. Unfortunately we haven't loads of cash to splash (no pun intended) so we need to be careful with how we spend it. Imo Martinez has done very well in regards recruitment so far.

In terms of the board and BK I don't get any moaning really in this regard. Its a very thankless job they have. They have improved the club immensely since they took over.

That can be explained simply by quoting someone else on here. When Moyes was appointed all them years ago he's statement was 'we are not going down' add on 11 years of hard work by the board and what's the new managers words 'we'll get into Champions League'.

It's not the manager's I pointing at here it's the development of Everton F. C. that happened over the period of the board. I feel they done a fantastic job and in time I think they will pass the reins onto capable hands to bring the club to the next level.

That's my view anyway. Some will agree, some won't. let's pull together and support the team we all love and stop swiping bad negative words at each other and have a bit of humour and craic.

I'm off to get married today so hope you all have a good day.

{Ed007's Note - Sorry to hear that, NBTB. That's another good man down ;(

Much better put than me NB. Quite correct on the coaching front I should have narrowed being a good coach down to the attacking prowess in his skill set. But I also said (and this not a comment on personality, the guy is very personable) that his skill is in coaching and needs another level above him I. E. Manager to enable those skills.

just seen that Burnley have offered George Green a 6 month deal. I hope it works out for the lad as it is never nice to see a prospect fall so far, even if there were other issues as he has confessed.

Interesting quotes from RM today in the Liverpool Echo:

Sam Byram was not the right player for Everton, said boss Roberto Martinez this morning, after the promising full-back turned his back on the Blues to join West Ham.
The 22-year-old completed a £3.7m move to The Hammers, after he had initially agreed terms with The Toffees, with a greater likelihood of first team football at Upton Park said to have influenced his decision.
But at today's pre-Swansea press conference Martinez said: "I hadn't told him his first team opportunities would be restricted. I haven't got a crystal ball.
"There's always a correct path for any youngster to fulfil his potential - and players need to earn that opportunity.
"It wasn't right to bring a young player in for the sake of it. And it wasn't right for Sam.
"Sam's situation was one that, like in so many occasions, we were the first to identify a good potential footballer in the Championship. We went through the correct procedures and developed a good relationship with Leeds United but at the end it wasn't the right move for Sam and he wasn't the right player for us with the squad we have. And that's the end of the matter really.
"I'm pleased we were at the forefront of identifying a young player who has terrific potential but it wasn't the right move for both parties. "
Steven Naismith has completed his £8.5m switch to Norwich and Martinez added: "Steven Naismith leaves the football club with all our best wishes.
"At the age of 29 it's an important moment in his career and it was the right deal for all parties. We thank him for his professionalism and his conduct and the way he performed.
"But our squad is still too large. There are some young players who have surprised us and developed a stronger role in the first team and we need to make sure the squad is at the right number. ".

Being reported on talksport that Chelski have set aside up to 50 mil for a bid for stones in this transfer window can't see him going in January but summer maybe if he does prefer him to go to Barcelona with us getting them to rip up there buy back clause on delboy.

No point, Del Boy will be gone in the summer, along with Stones and Lukaku.

Martin Samuel, Mail, Headline: Martinez is not reinventing the Wheel. Excellent article and hits the nail on the head. Added to that who else remembers this quote from Bill Kenwright: 'When David Moyes first came to see me, 11 years ago, we were in a bad state. He sat down and said: "We're not going down". Roberto's first words were: "I'll get you in the Champions League". ' Now Bill Kenwright a millionaire is nobodies fool when it comes to his shows and other business interests, it therefore has to be asked, how come such an astute man can be so naive as to appoint a man with nothing in his coaching/ managing history to suggest he can bring anything but mediocrity. I genuinely fear that my beloved Club is destined to finish in the bottom half season after season looking down instead of up while RM is in charge.

It's getting really boring this constant slagging off of the club/ manager/ players, loads more clubs in a lot worse state than us like Villa for example but at least they have some dignity, I've been posting on this site for about 5 years now and love it, I don't bother with Facebook and Twittergram whatever its called but after a 3 day self banned break from this site I've just come back and its the same old boring moaning slagging off from the same posters, yawn

I know you have a right to moan as we all put money into the club but constantly about the same thing every single day, pass me the rope now please, I know you will come back with the same replies "Kenwright is no good so we have a right to moan", "Martinez is a fraud so we have a right to moan", "wheres all the GOD DAMN money gone because we have a GOD DAMN right to moan" but please give it a rest, you know who you are

Looking forward to your oh so positive replies, of course this is not aimed at everyone but we all know who it is aimed at

Banker bet for tomorrow - Naisy last goal.

{Ed023's Note - Hopefully it's just a consolation goal from Naismith ;)}

Murf1000, Kenwright is a good man and a good Chairman with no doubt the best interests of the Club at heart but for my mind is far to trusting and willing to believe. Roberto is a good coach but a hopeless Manager, a good Manager as we all know has to have the ability to listen, understand, adapt, delegate and bring all his teams individual skills together into a cohesive unit and on occasion be ruthless in applying those abilities. Roberto is quite honestly too nice. And yes we do have the right to moan the same as we know when to praise when praise is due. Quite simple really, if this is the best Squad we have assembled for many seasons, the core of which understand each others skills and how they like to play, the question has to be asked, how come we have not amassed more points.

Is yarmelenko they only player out there, I've never seen him play to be honest. I'm happy with del and Kev. Des any news on takeover. It does look like we are becoming the laughing stock of the prem when it comes to transfers tho. Nothing is easy with us. It's no wonder the media try and sell our players when it looks like we got no cash.

Media try to sell everyones players Pob, might be a good sign mate with no news on the takeover as whenever there have been rumours in the past the club has come out and stated that there is no takeover, not said it this time, Jordanian Billionaire before Americans for me but happy with both.

In agreeing with NBTB, I need to ask the question, what is the obsession with Yarmolenko? . He's not world class, not even near, unproven in a good league. Why the obsession? Is it his cool name? (Which I'm getting sick to death of hearing) Is it his goal against us? We had the same thing with Bolasie when he scored against us, he's another overrated player. Is it the fact he's from Ukraine? Is it trendy or something? .

Because he's a right winger, now, he's got less assists this season than Geri, who is in a far superior league. The Ukraine league isn't even a top 10 league imo. He's not that good, Konoplyanka always outshone him on the international stage. Yes he scored a good goal and yes he has/ had a boss name, however, he really isn't special, least of all a 20m+ player.

Mirallas and Deulofeu are better, there are better players out there or players of a similar ability for cheaper.

Well said Swan, for me its buying for the sake of buying. I would prefer not to spend the cash. If we are looking for a player to sit behind Rom and pull the strings and to compete with Ross then we need a either a proven premiere league player or a young talent that can be developed thta doesnot cost the earth. If Yarmolenko was that good then you wood see more interest from the like of Chelsea Barcelona etc after all that's who is agent has allegedly been speaking too. I would like to see Clevs given the role against Carlisle in the cup as I think he has the passing range its just can he see that killer Ball. The position I really think we need to fill is defensive coach. The playing positions I think we need to provide cover for is CF, GK and LM (next season) . However, as RM has total confidence in both Kone and Howard I can't see that happening until the summer.
