According to the FA Youth Cup match report on the official website, our U-18s team boss is Paul Tait. If so, what is Kevin Sheedy's role at the club?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i thought he was the academy coach..

Ed025: Last season, Kevin Sheedy was running the U-18s. This season, it's Paul Tait apparently, so I wondered what KS is doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im not sure of his specific title sid..sorry..

Sheeds official title? Back in the day it was God as far as was concerned.
Oh how I loved him and his little left foot. Taking free kicks twice to prove a point, getting knocked out with a headed goal against man u and who could forget the two-fingered salute to the kop after another wonderful free kick. Legend!

Mike basset has turned us into jellyfish poeple who think giving a manager time just look at Chelsea and City

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2015 19:46:18
When is bk going to realise that Mike Bassett ( Martinez ) is not like moyes and he may not have what it takes to get us out of this position if he doesn't act soon he can wave goodbye to any profit he hopes to make because if we go down there is no coming back

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think bill is doing a fine impression of an ostrich at the moment..

Here's a thought out of left field for a possible replacement for RM: Sean Dyche currently at Burnley.
With (hopefully - although this season that is debatable!) better players at Everton he might do better than is realistically possible for him on Burnley's comparatively limited resources. Unlike RM, whose tactics eventually took Wigan down (and are threateningly looking like doing the same at Everton!), Sean Dyche doesn't strike me as such an unpragmatic dreamer.
Other names don't appeal to me. Hoddle ultimately failed at Tottenham and at Wolves. He'd most likely turn out to be tactically like Martinez (possession, pass, pass, sideways, backwards), but without the Spanish accent. Hoddle is also a three-at-the-back advocate, which is surely questionable for our current defenders.
Foreign managers wouldn't have the Premier League (let alone any kind of British football) nitty-gritty experience that I believe is critical for a club like ours imho - and we wouldn't have the money to fund the players they'd want to bring in anyway - so it should be a British (or Irish) manager. We appointed HK and DM from lower-tier managerial positions - and they did OK (didn't they?) - while Sean Dyche would have already had some Premier League managerial experience having served a good "apprenticeship" learning his trade lower down the leagues (just like HK and DM did).
Just as well I'm not running the club if I'm thinking like this, eh?
Anyway it's all academic, as BK is clearly sticking by RM to the bitter end - even if that's an end to our sixty seasons of top-tier football.
:-(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i have never really considered dyche sid, i do like him, but would he have the experience to keep us up?..im not sure..

Ed025: The only one I'd trust to keep any club up is Tony Pulis. Having said that, Pulis is elsewhere, so I'm confident that Sean Dyche would do a good a job at a club with (all due respect) more resources than Burnley. How ironic if he keeps Burnley up - albeit by the skin of their teeth - and RM brings an end to Everton's sixty seasons of top-tier football.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note -i cant even think about that sid..

22 Jan 2015 20:33:00
Sorry Sid but we need a manager who can attract big name players, doubt this guy could do that. Though to be fair I would rather be a better version of Burnley than Wigan mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Woburnblue: Attracting big name players surely requires Champions League football, which we're nowhere near at the moment, AND paying big wages, which we couldn't do on our budget under FFP rules. Besides, why would a player (or his wife/family) want to come to us ahead of a club in London (or even Manchester come to that). We, as fans, would love to play for Everton, but for most players (who have no emotional ties to Everton) it's just a matter of medals, money, and location.
:-(

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have alan stubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Daz efc: Alan Stubbs is an interesting shout, but wouldn't we want to see him have a little more time getting head-coach experience in Scotland before he manages in the Premier League? That's if we're still in the Premier League cone next season of course!
:-(

Agree0 Disagree0

I think stubbs is the man, I don't know what he did but every time he has left the club are performances have dropped.

Anyone else think that what is happening with Eto is making the club and the supporters look like Fred Karnos Circus. and just about sums up what is wrong with the so called management. Absolutely pathetic. I've backed Kenwright in the past, but it's time he got hold of our so called CEO and Manager, and explain that we are Everton Football Club and not some two bob organisation. John Moores must be spinning.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i tend to agree GTB..

Spot on GTB.

BK and RM are now tailor-made to duet with "Send in the clowns":

Isn't it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air.
Send in the clowns.

Isn't it bliss?
Don't you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can't move.
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns.

Just when I'd stopped
Opening doors,
Finally knowing
The one that I wanted was yours,
Making my entrance again
With my usual flair,
Sure of my lines,
No one is there.

Don't you love farce?
My fault, I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want -
Sorry, my dear.
But where are the clowns?
Quick, send in the clowns.
Don't bother, they're here.

Isn't it rich?
Isn't it queer?
Losing my timing this late
In my career?
And where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns.
Well, maybe next year.

{Ed025's Note - that brought tears to my eyes sid..

Thinking that Kenwright may be getting a bit past all this now. He can't be far off 70.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit ageist tedster, fine wines and brandys get better with age mate..maybe chairmen?.. :)

Ed025: You find wine and brandy in bottles. I wish BK had the bottle to tell RM to get things sorted or else - and I also wish that RM had the bottle to tell a few players to shape up or ship out.

It's looking likely (I'd actually say it's certain) that we WON'T be playing in Europe next season, so there won't be any validity in blaming that for any tiredness or poor performances.
However, I've no doubt that the lack of European football will be a reason why our better players will want to leave and why we won't get adequate replacements - and that will be used as an excuse for any poor performances and every poor result.
And throughout we'll have the same inane positivity from RM and the same waffle pre-match & post-match from players who aren't delivering and have no self-belief.
And the band played on.
:-(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - as you say sid, i think there will be an exodus of our players in the summer if bobby is still with us, i dont believe they buy into his philosophy of how the game should be played, thats why my my choice would be for him to leave..

Ed would you prefer he left now or in the summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would prefer now alan, if you have a bad tooth and its hurting you the best thing is to get it out as soon as possible, before it infects the other teeth..so to speak..

Have to agree Sid. I can see McCarthy, Coleman, Stones and Barkley on their way. But never mind we will still have Barry for two more years, and you can just see Alcaraz being given a new three year deal along with McGeady being given an extension.

Its not looking good at the moment there's to many questions and no answers. Half the team must be concidering their position. I would like to see RM go and Joe Royal step in as interim manager with big Dunc and Kevin Sheedy assisting. Apart getting shut of Miralas and maybe taking Lennon part ex the players we have got are good enough at least better than the players we have been linked with they are just badly managed at present. I would wait to see what direction a new manager would take. thgfest

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I certainly wouldn't let Mirallas go before the end of the season. Tell him straight he can go and that he is putting himself in the shop window between now and then. And any more penalty nonsense and he can explain why to Big Dunc in a locked room.

Much as I would like to see a change, I'm not sure Big Joe is the answer. That said he can not do any worse.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2015 19:14:31
I was only suggesting Big Joe as a temp to give time to find the right man. I think the players are good enough they just need someone to get them playing as a team again. Miralas does not look like an Everton man anymore and just know we need everyone plaing for the team and not themselves.thgfest

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you regarding Mirallas thg, my thoughts are he is a mercenary but he can get us goals, and if a change in management is made it is not going to be much before the window closes. If he knew he had his wish to go come June he has an incentive to play well.

I'm not against Big Joe, far from it, I just think if he wasn't able to manage to save us? From being the last Everton Manager to win silverware to being the man who got us relegated. It's very harsh for someone who has been such a great servant to the club.

That said, if he thought he could do it, I would have 100 times more faith in him than in el Bob.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its all academic anyway because BK will not get rid, he is a showman and loves the trade, all Roberto has to keep doing is feed Bill the lines, stick to the script and he is safe.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - "alas poor bill, i know him well""..

What worries me is if RM pulls off the save of the season and keeps us up he's going to be here next season and were going to go through all this crap again because he has his way of playing and won't change it. oh rubbish.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - your right kirbo..

Just seen on news now everton.that a supercomputer says we will finish 11th on 47 points.so no need to worry lads sorted.coyb

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - oh good...phew that was a close one streety.. :(

Yeah I saw that too, and that was without transfers in the window, with transfers we finish 12th on 44 pts, obviously taken the rubbish signings we have been linked with into account then?

Agree0 Disagree0

47 points this season?
That might be enough to avoid relegation, but it's a massive comedown after our record haul last season! Anywhere else and the manager would be on borrowed time, but it's likely that BK will let RM get his "second season syndrome" out of the way in the expectation (make that hope - or blind faith) that we'll do much better next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - to be honest sid thats exactly how i think it will pan out..

22 Jan 2015 17:38:05
just putting a view on the joel goal keeping pole. I remember when big Nev first got into the first team he was awful so H K( GOD) sent him out on loan to bury I think and the rest is history as they say.

Agree0 Disagree0

Super computer? It was RM's laptop!

Agree0 Disagree0

If and I hope to dunkin biscuits it is a big if we go down it will be because after the Palace game (if we lose) Bill refuses to do the right thing. I also echo that even if we survive this season Roberto has already shown by his actions and comments that he is not a Premiership Manager.

Is anyone else concerned about the deafening silence from the club about a renewed contract for Luke Garbutt? I'm sure - that is I hope - we won't get another "Dan Gosling" situation where the club fouls up by not making a proper formal offer, as that would mean Garbutt is free to leave us and go elsewhere at the end of the season with no compensation due to us. I don't want him to leave - but, if he does, we must get some compensation. Much as I love things being sorted out quietly and efficiently in the background before being formally announced by the club, the key phrase is "being sorted out" and I just wonder about what's happening off-the-field - especially as on-the-field has been pretty dire most of the time this season.
Whether or not Gosling was ever going to be a long-term good player for us isn't the question imho (he hasn't set the world alight since leaving!) - it was the amateurish incompetence of us, a cash-strapped club, losing out on any sort of transfer fee or compensation that was inexcusable. Whatever criticism the player may deserve for how he (and his agent) handled matters, it's ultimately up to the club to do things properly - and we clearly didn't! No doubt, that won't be happening again with any of our current players nearing the end of contracts. I'm sure whoever's in charge at Everton - some doubt about that apparently (!) - is making sure everything is being properly managed - hmmm.
:-(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im worried about the deafening silence on everything sid!..

Isn't Garbutt supposed to be joining Liverpool at the end of the season on a free transfer?

I have heard that it is basically a done deal.

With reference to contract for Garbutt. He is a player for the future and on current form should be on the pitch and not the bench in place of Baines. The club should be giving priority to new contract before another club step in and get him on the cheap.

Big fan of Mirallas but i'm a bigger fan of Everton! No player is bigger than the club and if he wants to leave let him go. he has 18 months left realistically he is worth 10-15million. Footballers aren't valued on just skill the contract dictates value! I like the idea of townsend and lennon and send them Kev. don't advocate selling off your best players and making wholesale changes but I don't think we should jib our manager off after a bad run! we have a good young manager who I firmly believe will turn this around! we have never been the club who sacks managers willy nilly we keep the faith and remember blues we have witnessed worse! maybe our expectations are just too high! Get behind the boys against the RS and IF we get beat don't boo! get behind them and encourage because Goodison should be hostile for away teams not our own! COYB IBWT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - can you tell me when we should start to panic m1k?, when we are in the bottom 3?...when there is no way back?...

Is it just me that's flapping then?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no lancer, i am as well mate..

Well I was flapping too, which this morning became blind panic when I read this gem.

Under the headline of.
Everton have been named in the top 20 of Deloitte's Money League.

"Everton posted record profits of £28.2m following the significant hike in broadcast revenue from the first season of the new three-year domestic and overseas TV rights deals, which pushed their share up to £88.5m, and a merit payment of almost £20m based on last season's fifth-place finish."

When you look at it, take the TV money away and the premiership prize money (got to be in it to win it as they say) It goes beyond flapping for me and is getting close to the time where I will be sat in the corner, undies on head, pencil up each nostril unable to say anything else than "Wibble wibble wilbble!"

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - undies and pencils are on my shopping list as well wedge..

Shouldn't worry about us being 20th apart from dollar signs in BK's eyes. Let's see 144.2 million, let's salt away 50 million for a business plan for the ficticious new stadium (I sniff another Kirkby), Oh and that value enables me to up my asking price for investment/buyout. Meanwhile this wonderful Club that I wear on my sleeve (oh yes I do, come here Silvester let me cry on your shoulder), is trundling bar a miracle into the Championship, I am sure I read Roberto's CV and he did give me a convincing answer to how he beat City as a one off. Ah well never mind. Ah well back to Corry.

Agree0 Disagree0

We shouldn't panic because in reality we are better than these teams! we will come good. Call it blind faith but I don't think we are a bad team over night we have been awful in games and unlucky in others but we have quality and I genuinely fancy us to be alright. and as stones said we are looking up not down!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a couple of teams in the past have said the same thing m1k, dodgy train of thought for me mate..

Bobby Brown Shoes said out of the last 10 games we were unlucky not to have won 9 and drawn 1, and still thinks we have a chance of finishing in the top 4.

I am starting to worry about his mental health now.

He can't honestly believe the nonsense he comes out with surely.

22 Jan 2015 09:22:30
Perhaps I'm stating the obvious but as much as I think a warm weather break will be great for the players i.e. get them away to concentrate on team work and rebuild confidence, BUT who is in charge of transfers while the managers away? surely it is obvious we need a couple in even if just loans, desperately need a winger and GK, rumours are that Chelsea are looking to recall Atsu (who's not really had a look in and is probably fed up watching Maceady in front of him throwing in piss poor performances), not forgetting our list of long term injuries.
Also Sampdoria are highlighting our lack of leadership by questioning who is in charge to close the Etoo transfer, for gods sake let him go if he doesn't want to play for us and bring someone else in QUICKLY!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Get them all on camels while they over there.improved kone lol.who knows camels might have magical powers when you sit on them, and Mcgeady will come back a world class winger.anyway I'm off to see my shrink.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - dont get the hump dentie mate.. :)

Listen, I heard Kenwright on radio 2 over Christmas. Kenwright is so positive ad one of the things he likes about Roberto is his positiveness! That's two of them that are positive and we all know two positives make a negative!

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jan 2015 07:02:34
I have digested all the posts now since Monday and was in two minds to give my opinion. Was I frustrated, disappointed and angry leaving the ground Monday night freezing my nuts off? Yeh. I can't put my finger on it why we are struggling so much I thought we where turning the corner after west ham & city performance, on reflection pulis brought WBA to defend and many teams would have struggled to break them down never mind a team lacking confidence. I thought Besic was great and one if the few who showed urgency and had the courage to want the ball, I don't think Barry played particularly bad either and we expect the fwd players to be the ones to create something, so I guess it was either of them two who had to come off and maybe Barry is a bit more disciplined and experienced to protect defence on counter attacks to allow others to do their jobs ie Barkley who I believe needs to be taken out of the spotlight because his confidence has gone and he does seem to be struggling I have said it before he looks a bit overweight. Do I still have faith in Roberto? Yes and I hope he turns it around have mistakes been made? Yes is there anyone who I really believe I would like to succeed Roberto? Not really it would be a stop gap to do enough to stay up or a gamble on the unknown ie hidden or klinsmann if I was pushed maybe moyes as he knows the players and maybe he could take us one step further now we don't need to sell. I still believe in Roberto and possession football but it needs to be free flowing possession and this needs confidence the same as Liverpool were a couple of months ago it's a time for unity not just so we can change our opinion and moods like our underwear and say ok I eat humble pie ha ha he is a genius when things are good and like wise the other way around when we win at old Trafford or he plays Lukaku on the right midfield against arsenal he is the next barca manager nobody criticised us not practising set pieces then etc. I don't believe we don't do anything on set pieces maybe not as much as the likes of pulis and allardyce but we have to. The biggest worry I have is if it's not just confidence and there is a rift I have heard rumours that eto is the cause of the trouble and maybe this is why he in his way out nobody truly knows hopefully this is it he goes the week away together will regain the team bond and we beat Alan partridge pardews palace next week. Oh and we get a winger on loan. One final thing if mirrallas would not have been an person and baines scored the pen we probably would have gone on to win the game 3-0 as they couldn't just sit back and I wouldn't be doing this post and my fellow supporters would not be feeling so depressed after blue Monday. Always the optimist

Believable0 Unbelievable0

BK always comes out with optimism. I was driving up from Devon for the Stoke game listening to him on Radio 2. He was praising RM saying how positive he is. He said that he even got a call from RM when the draw for the FA Cup was made. "We have a home draw against West Ham!" he said. "A home draw!" I listened with interest and thought to myself. positive Chaiman, positive manager. sorry to knock your optimism, Robbie, but maybe that's part of the problem. Optimism is great, but a reality check is also useful at times. I am not having a go at you. I admire your optimism and perhaps I am being a pessimist.I think Ed would say so.

Any chance of recruiting one of the pg tips chimps for our next manager, I've no doubt we already have the players to get us out of trouble, such a great shame we have a manager who has no plan b.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair the plan A isn't that good either.

Agree0 Disagree0

What is frustrating and downright disrespectful if I am honest is the deathly silence from our Chairman. He is experienced enough to know by now that the blips that happened under Moyes when he was trying to drag us into the top half regularly (and which he achieved) were just blips. What is happening under Roberto is not a blip as he has form. The only thing I can think of is that our finances are worse than I thought and BK cannot see a way out.

Agree0 Disagree0

I apologise for mistakenly stating our finances are in worse state than we thought, I was wrong.
