I've been thinking about the suggestion by some that uncertainty about DM's future - and his stated intention to wait until the end of the season before deciding - is having an adverse effect on the players. Well, IMHO, the players are adult, experienced, well paid, professional footballers who should concentrate on preparing well for and performing well in the next match. All the rest is just fodder for the media and websites like this. I love the craic, but the players must focus on winning football matches for Everton football club. Once a blue, always a blue. {Ed025's Note - no argument from me mate..

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Agree0 Disagree0

How many of the starting 22 players tomorrow do u think will not lose the ball more than once?
I would safely say that at least half the players on the pitch will be guilty of that!

Why all this fuss about Norwegian Reds posting on this site?
I'm sure there are loads of Norwegian Blues that haven't got around to posting - they're just shagged out after a long squawk. Beautiful plumage.

Priorities for this season?
1. Champions League place
2. FA Cup win
3. 8th Place. We must not get involved in that Euro Disney Thurs Night Cup Comp!
(Our squad could not cope with that)

Mushroom Man {Ed025's Note - higher we finish the better for me mate..

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I have fond memories of the europa a few years ago, timmy's shimmy, over to peanut for a nifty back heal, then ossie with the outside of his boot. One of the best goals you'll see.

So forgive me for disagreeing with your third point, although 1 & 2 are correct.

COYB {Ed025's Note - im with you ace..

Agree0 Disagree0

Need to be in Europe. Even for tv money alone

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon more clubs would like the Europa League if the matches weren't played on Thursdays, but on Tuesdays and Wednesdays like the Champions League. As for live match TV broadcasts, for those fans who can't make it to a midweek game (especially away), we surely have enough channels these days to cover all the English teams (seven this season) that qualify. Also, playing on a Thursday - and the travelling back afterwards - does seem to upset a lot of sides' performances the weekend afterwards. And, of course, I accept that the financial rewards in the Europa League are nowhere need Champions League level, but they must still be worth having. I'm certain that Everton would love to be in the Europa league - Thursday matches or not! {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a thought for Mushroom Man. If we don't qualify for the CL, but do win the FA Cup (or are losing finalists to a CL qualifier), then we are in the Europa League with its Thursday fixtures. Does that mean you wouldn't want us to win, or be in, the FA Cup final? {Ed025's Note - good point jonesy..

Agree0 Disagree0

What's wrong with Europa? Dan1

Agree0 Disagree0

Some good points (FA Cup) but how can we seriously get involved in a competition that involves more games when DM says we have a threadbare squad who are tired now! It's bloody February lads. yer I like to see blues play these different sides but reality check please. or enter our under 18sfor Disney Cup mmmm. that's a thought!

i don want investment it will bring some bad conditions to everton very rich man is what I want Pakistani Blue

Believable0 Unbelievable3

22 Feb 2013 16:21:17
If we did get new investment, would you want us to bring in big-money transfers, which might prevent our talented young players getting a chance? Do you want to try buying success or would you rather develop from within.
I expect most posters would sit on the fence with a "why can't we do both" attitude. I'd just like to know how many of you really want a "buy success at any price" policy at Everton.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's a really good question. And only true Everton fans can answer that truly. I'd go for the Academy first, unless the 'big signings' are young Englishmen, but there's nothing better than homegrown players from the local area.

I remember Crewe's XI in the Play-off final last year. 9 of that starting XI were from their academy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Our young players don't even get the chance now, so I don't see any difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buy it if we had the funds, everyone else does an we've never had the chance so why not.

Dave Tuebrook

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a buy success at any price. just to progress off the pitch so we can compete and progress, that's why moyes deserves a lot of credit, because without him the last ten years would have been a lot different,. r board as a dynamic and foreword thinking team are useless. there not up to the job without moyes astute managerment and transfer skills were would we be

Agree0 Disagree0

But they don't get a chance now

Agree0 Disagree0

I would, however, I would only like to see two or three, one up top, one in midfield, and one at the back, the rest would have to be home grown talent for me, as the club is good at producing young talent, but lacks bringing them through to the first team.
Just my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Feb 2013 16:14:46
How many of you would be prepared to give our younger players an opportunity in the first team with the intention that they'll hopefully develop as a group into a good team even though, as a short term consequence, we might not be challenging for European qualification during the next few years?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

22 Feb 2013 16:10:08
If your son was a talented schoolboy footballer, would you want him to join the Everton academy? I'm not talking about loyalty to the club you support, but rather which club has the best record in developing players and preparing for a good career in professional football.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

If it meant being taught your football education from the likes of stubbs and weir then i'd seriously think twice as I don't them two are good for young players.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's an intriguing point, Mike S. Without being too rude, could you expand on your concerns?
Anyhow, I believe that Stubbs and Weir work with the U-21 team, but Sheedy and Ferguson work with the U-18 team (which I regard as the Academy). What's your view of Sheedy and Ferguson guiding the Academy players?

Agree0 Disagree0

If possible, sound him out to Crewe, teach kids the basics and more and well looked after. Instituation!

Agree0 Disagree0

Concerned Citizen- My concern with Weir and stubbs is I just can't shake off this idea that they are moyes like clones, you know drilling everything negative into the kids i. e. hoofball, not allowing them to express themselves and like I said everything negative you associate to moyes.

and I think Sheedy is doing a great job and have confidence in him to teach the kids all the positive aspects of the game, so there you have it I don't know if anybody else agrees or even know where i'm coming from.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for replying, Mike S.

By using the agree/disagree buttons who:
Agrees that BK wants to retain control of the club while getting other investors to give funds;
OR
Disagrees with the above and believes that BK would sell his shareholding in (and therefore lose his control of) the club to new investors.

According to most surveys I've read, the two types of people that are the least respected are journalists and estate agents. I suggest that football agents should be up there with them. Obviously paedos, terrorists, etc. , are despised, but which "professions" should be top of the "not respected" list alongside journalists, estate agents, and football agents? {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..they are leeches, who are bleeding the game dry..

Completely bonkers, but here's a question.
If Everton's shares became available as small (even individual) lots, how many of you would honestly risk your life savings, mortgage your homes, take out loans, risk your and your family's future, etc. , to buy any? Likewise, if you couldn't buy shares, would you instead be prepared to lend your own money to the club for, say, twenty years before any prospect of being repaid?
It's one thing to part with your hard earned money for a season ticket, trips to matches, replica shirt, etc. , etc. , but would you really give your money to an industry where greedy agents and players have their noses in the trough?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I'd love to be an Everton shareholder, but I wouldn't put my family's future at risk by using money I can ill afford to lose. Like most posters, I'd give the club money in the unlikely event of me winning the lottery big time, but that's a millions-to-one chance - especially as I don't spend (waste) my money on the lottery!

I took 2 of my grandkids to see HMS Ilustrious last weekend and ended up taking them on the ferry over to seacombe & woodside. its been many a year since I have had a view of the lpool skyline and whilst I was very impressed and surprised at recent developments I couldn't help but wonder what it would have looked like to have seen our proposed stadium on the kings dock amongst it all. A fabulous stadium on the banks of the royal blue mersey!
what a really badly missed opportunity.
A real shame none of our board at the time had the business acumen and vision to deliver it.

is the ED who puts comments up in the morning a red? I made a delightful little reply to one of the comments a red made on here and yet it didn't get posted? why? not once did I swear, or put anything abusive so I don't get why it wasnt posted? {Ed001's Note - it was racist though, and it was shown to me as such, so yes I ended up deleting it. You were lucky not to get a ban, but you are clearly just too ignorant to understand.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Racist? I never at any point mentioned anyones skin colour? I made a sly dig about them all being from norway and suddenly that's racist? c'mon ed {Ed001's Note - do you not know what racism means? Are you so ignorant that you think racism is purely about the colour of someone's skin? You made more than a simple dig anyway, you made a number of ignorant, bigoted comments about Norwegians. I am sick of this crap from you Toffees who all then whine when a single comment is made about you all being Welsh! I don't allow those either, so why should I allow you to be a bigoted knob? It is not my fault you haven't the intelligence to reply with anything other than idiotic bigoted and tired old comments.}

Anyone else think that Kevin Sheedy would be the man to replace Moyes when he goes? He already has a lot of insight into the club and would as many of us wish for bring up a lot of youth players into the first team e.g Kennedy Barkley Lundstram Mcaleny Velios Duffy Long Junior etc. It would also be a very cheap process and hopefully he'll tell Neville to give it up and he could coach the youth team when he gets all of his badges. Any thoughts?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

I think if we part company with moyes in the summer we would need someone with a lot of experience of managing at this level. Its going to be a difficult job picking someone to manage our great club and I just hope its not BK making that decision. I think the guy has tried his best for us but it really is time for a new chapter in our great history. I am sure we must be due some good news on this front soon.

Dan:
We must get someone who has the respect of the squad, i. e. someone who will have an immediate impact on very highly paid Premier league players that can perhaps think themselves more important than they are!
DM was maybe a big gamble when we look back, however he did have a presence about him and coaching cred from the Championship which has paid off big time.

Blue247

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody from inside Everton should replace moyes unless you want more of the same but 10 times worse, and anyway sheedy is doing a great job with the kids, so why change it.

Matthew Kennedy - Steven Pienaar's long term successor, everyone agree?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

If he proves himself at EPL level, then he'll be another who is enticed by a club in the CL or has to be moved on to raise funds. Thankfully, we've only had a few like that (but they were key - like Rooney, Lescott, Arteta, etc. ) and we did get pretty good money for them at the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Calm down on the kid he hasn't even made a first team appearance he's had
A good game Iam sure we will see more of him in the future but let's not get carried away just yet

It would be nice to find out, moyes is always moaning about the size of our squad and how tired some players are but won't give any of our talented youth team a go, he'd rather play 36 yr old full backs who can't run anymore, at the very least they would bring in some energy.
