That lot across the park have been knocked out of the Europa League tonight. Before you start cheering, just think that this means they've only the EPL to concentrate on. We must finish above them - anything less and everything else (DM, Fellaini, Baines, etc. , staying or going in the summer; new investment; modern stadium; etc. ) pales into insignificance as far as I'm concerned. If DM shows them too much respect when we play them - instead of taking the game by the scruff of the neck and playing them off the park - that'll be it for my continuing support of him and I'll not be upset if he leaves in the summer.

Finishing above us. it's like winning the league for you guys! I feel flattered! and I can say, no one could be ashamed to support our team after our performance tonight, we played a blinder! Good luck neighbours!

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course it's like winning the league for us! The five or so times we've finished above them in the past fifty years include four times when we were champions.

If you had the money to invest substantially (and thereby own or be the controlling shareholder in) Everton - but didn't (like most of us) have any experience in running a football club - would you expect to tell the club how to operate or would you defer to the real professionals? I ask, because looking at what happens at other clubs - and reading many of the posters on this website - I'd imagine that our club would be reeling from one knee jerk reaction to another from an impatient and intemperate owner, especially if he wanted to play the big I-am.

Is it only me that thinks zonal marking at the back has been killing us this season?

Posted last night about the talented lad Kennedy with mixed responses about his chances in first team squad. Fair enough there will be loads of you who have seen far more of this lad than I but those who simply say he would be lost (even as a ten minute sub?)are you the ones who defend DM over his total lack of risk taking?
Not comparing this lad with Rooney but I got so frustrated with Moyes over his use of Rooney (who was the best player at the club!) 'He's only a youngster. etc etc 'we need to give him time. yer and within a year of allowing the kid to play we bloody well sold him!
How old was Colin Harvey when he played against Inter. in Milan?

But then Harry Catterick was a risk taker!

Mushroom Man {Ed025's Note - i always say mushroom...if your good enough...your old enough mate..

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Shame DM does not think the same hey Ed {Ed025's Note - i think so mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

In answer to Mushroom Man, Colin Harvey was 18 years old when he made his debut in the second leg of the European Cup tie against Inter Milan at the San Siro stadium.

Here's a crazy idea. We've won enough points so far this season to not be relegated. To qualify for Europe, we have to win the FA Cup or finish at least fifth (at a pinch sixth might also qualify if the cup finalists qualify for he CL). Either way, we must win most matches (obviously!) during he remainder of the season. So here's the crazy idea: forget worrying about the manager and/or some payers leaving in the summer and concentrate on winning every game by playing like we did earlier in the season - especially the great attacking play in that first thirty minutes against Chelsea. OK, so we lost that game, and a succession of 1-0 victories would clearly also be welcome, but I pine for the expansive, progressive, exciting football. Am I a sad old romantic looking for the school of science when the reality is that pragmatic functional football is the only successful route?

Heard we are after Mcgeady! Sorry not good enough! With the funds we will probably have we should look into getting someone decent, and a decent striker

Believable2 Unbelievable1

It's pointless speculating about who we might or might not sign when we don't know who the manager will be, so any names mentioned are clearly idle journalism and absolute nonsense. Unless Bill is on the blower to Martinez or AN Other asking him if he fances McGeady, which is highly doubtful!

why on agree/disagree do people disagree when fans are being possitive saying cheer us on and we have a good chance of wembley and cl come on

Believable2 Unbelievable8

I think it's because people feel that, by being positive and focussing on chances of Wembley, etc. , fans are over-looking problems in the team and/or club that they feel need to be addressed.

I'm not suggesting this is right or wrong, just offering it as an answer to your question.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of them might genuinely disagree with something that most posters wouldn't disagree with, but I suspect that many who choose the disagree button are sad, cantankerous, wanna-be rebels hiding behind the anonymity of the agree/disagree buttons. Once the latter get over their personal issues and get their heads right, they'll stop distorting the agree/disagree voting. Until then, this is the cost of allowing free speech on this website, which I totally support as long as the comments are not offensive.

who thinks that chris long would make it in the first team? {Ed025's Note - eventually, but not quite yet..

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Too many talented young players don't make it - at our club and elsewhere - because of so many reasons. Its usually not a question of skill, but being able to cope with the mental - and, to a degree, physical - demands of top level football. Putting a young player into the spotlight before he's ready could do more harm than good. I trust those on the coaching staff - who know the player's character and ability - to bring him through the ranks.
