Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Besides Gana Gueye, the only other players in our first team that in my humble opinion play with anything like the right mentality (let alone consistency and dependability) are Barry and Williams - and even these two have their limitations these days.
I reserve judgement on long-term injury absentees (like Besic) until, they get a decent run in RK's setup.

Stek: too erratic - pulls off some amazing saves, but also makes costly basic errors.
Joel; done OK at times, but just doesn't seem to be a top top keeper.

20 Nov 2016 17:41:57
Coleman: something's just not right with him in RK's tactical setup.
Baines: no longer the player he was - clearly misses having a Pienaar in front of him.
Oviedo; a great lad, but he's clearly limited
Jagielka: hasn't looked right for a while
Funes Mori: an Argentine international, so must have qualities, but how many Evertonians are convinced by him
Browning and Pennington: long term injury absentees, so still deserve a chance to impress
Garbutt: his loans only delay his inevitable permanent departure.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Nov 2016 17:47:10
Barkley: will we be still be waiting for him to deliver consistently in 5 years time
McCarthy; surely the player and club now want a parting of the ways
Cleverley: not a game-changer, but maybe a solid squad player
Gibson: best passer at the club, but injuries seriously limit him.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Nov 2016 17:57:12
Lukaku: without his goals we'd be stuffed, but he's not the great centre-forward yet
Bolaisie: cut out the attempted tricks, concentrate on bring productive, and use your power and pace
Mirallas: just isn't productive enough
Deulofeu; flattered to deceive for far too long
Lennon: honest hard-working pacy player, but is he good enough quality
Valencia: needs chance to show what he can do, but not that hopeful
Kone, Niasse, McGeady, McAleny and Rodriguez: do ny of these have any future at Everton.

Very fair and sobering posts there Sid. It's clear that you and other posters really care about this club.
I sense Koeman is frustrated. He was a top, top player and his goals to game ratio shame many so called strikers. He has a squad of limited abilities. Another poster said many of the squad are not buying into his project. Probably as they know they will be moved out.
I would have liked Davies and Holgate to have been given more game time. Koeman also misjudged the left back cover situation.
We need to hang in with difficult games ahead and improve in the window, given we are not every top players destination of choice.

Fantastic posts Sid. Very few players assessment I don't agree with. Only 3 really and I don't full disagree with them.

Coleman probably the most I disagree with. Imho we would find it extremely hard to find a better right back. He gets some flack I frankly don't know why. For me definitely in the top 5 consistent performers since Moyes left. Would be gutted if he left. How many better right backs in the premiership? Very few in my books.

To a less extent I disagree with Mori and Barkley. Mori by no means is a definite future centre back but would like to see him given more chances. He'll either turn out top class or bad imo. Too early to tell. I have to admit at times I feel nervous when he has the ball near the goal at times but I wouldn't disregard him yet.

Barkley could also turn out top class. Probably has a better chance than Mori but I also wouldn't give up on him yet. Definitely not. I think and hope he has a bright future with Everton. Fingers crossed.

I'm with NBTB about Coleman he has been up there with Gueye Barry and Williams in my opinion.

This is a just after a loss post Sid. It will take time for players to get used to Koeman system and time to get players into the club that fit the ethos.

Liverpool is a perfect example. Terrible last season and Klopp couldn't get them going. They lost plenty until he managed to get the players he wanted in the summer and they are a different team.

It was only a few additions but they have made the difference. The same is like that for most teams when they get a new manager. The others already there have got used to his system after 8 months being together and they start to click.

Our management team haven't had long to get things in place and probably why we seem not to be all on the same page.

It will happen but for us fans it's the same message. Keep supporting and be patient.

It's said that you "can't teach an old dog new tricks" - and its alleged that some senior players can't (or won't! ) buy into RK's approach.
If we can't transfer in the replacement players that will fit into RK's demands, then perhaps our U23/ U18 players should be given the chance to show what they can do.
They won't be stuck in their ways, or stay in their familiar comfort zones, and they will surely be more receptive to the coaching.
Besides, they'll be hungrier for opportunities to impress and progress. They can't just sit back and take home big wages like some old pros might - an U23/ U18 player has to prove himself and earn a better contract.

20 Nov 2016 15:08:58
Which of our U23/ U18 players would you like to see given a decent chance in our first team?
I ask especially as some of the older players are not producing acceptable performances at the moment and/ or are getting towards the end of their PL careers.
I'd especially welcome the views of any supporters who've actually watched our U23/ U18 matches this season.
Holgate and Davies are obvious ones, but what about some of the lesser-known talents at our club?
We are restricted by financial regulations re spending and wages, so to bring players through the club ranks is surely a key element of our squad recruitment and development activities.
I accept that it's a massive step up from U23/ U18 to the PL, but there must be some of our youngsters who we can risk trying in real match situations - even if only for the last 10 or 15 minutes of matches where we're in comfortable leading situations?

{Ed025's Note - that would work for me sid..

The problem Sid is that we are not very often in comfortable leading situations, actually we are trying to save the game due to our awful showing in the first half of the game. I would like to see Holgate and Davies given starting roles, couldn't be any worse than some of the starters yesterday.

20 Nov 2016 17:04:18
BlueMike76: very true - if we were in comfortable leading positions more often that'd mean we were playing well and we wouldn't be concerned about the form of the first-team regulars - catch 22 or what?!

Can anyone tell me just what has Holgate done wrong not to be playing in the first team. I understand their is a need for experience, but experience counts for nothing if the players form is poor. In the games he has played in Holgate has let no one down. Personally I think he is a better defender than Mr Stones, but that's another topic.

. in my humble opinion Holgate shld be slotted in alongside AW and Jags given the shepherds crook for now.

I have made the point Jagielka has been poor since the last World Cup, that is over 2 years. He gets caught out when with Everton and England and surely other managers have identified his weakness and play to it. Whilst having been a good servant for the club he has cost us a lot of points.

I am an evertonian of 44 years and to be honest I see no difference between the last couple of years and this year. poor all round. I am not buying into this "project Koeman thing" and I have seen already the remarks of the new Dutch Moyes being sprayed about and to be honest these are correct.

Koeman is playing the waiting game for a better offer ( see his managerial career to date ) . we do have the players to turn things around but from what I have heard they are not buying into" Project Koeman " either.

Under DM, we were mostly steady top 6 or 8, and the players knew their jobs, but we were uninspiring and failed in the big matches.
RM tried to change the way those same players - plus a few additions - played, but, after an exciting first season, it ended in tears after a poor 2nd and 3rd seasons.
RK - using most of these same players plus his own few additions - had tried to introduce his own pressing style, but it's not working so far.
Surely it's clear that the majority our current squad just isn't up to what RK is demanding of them? He really will need a couple of years -, and substatnt8l, investment - to get the squad that can play how he wants. Are we fans patient enough to give him that time?

20 Nov 2016 09:27:34
We should have got the squad we wanted at the start of the season not half way through if like they said the money is no object. Some of our midfield wouldn't got into the Swansea team it's time for big changes.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Nov 2016 10:22:26
I agree that our squad has problems and that the performances lately have been similar to stuff my dog leaves on the front lawn every morning but I also feel like fans need some perspective.

Firstly it seems like the players we were interested signing in the sunmer either weren't interested in us or their clubs were not looking to sell.

Secondly, as Sid says in an earlier post, our spending is limited by certain restrictions so we can't just go out and buy a new squad in one transfer window (which also never works because you end up with mercenaries rather than a team) .

Thirdly, many of our (former) key players are aging and weren't replaced by players of similar quality during the RM years (see Oviedo for Baines, Gerry/ Lennon for Pienaar etc. ) Now that these replacements are being asked to step up we are seeing that they fall short while the players they are supposed to be replacing have also dropped off.

Moral of the story in my eyes anyway is that these problems are not going to be fixed in a week/ month/ season. These are long term problems and will take more than the few months that FM/ SW/ RK have been on the job to be fixed.

20 Nov 2016 10:45:37
I am disappointed we didn't beat Swansea yesterday like the majority of us, I've read a few pokes at RK and the team in general but I truly believe we are subtlety turning the corner, let me ask you this, how many games this season have we got points from losing positions, be it a win or a draw. When last season we'd have just lost. Quite a few already! . certainly headed in the right direction.

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Nov 2016 11:25:39
I said it a couple of weeks ago that the job RK has is bigger than we may all have thought.
Its clear certain players are just not good enough to take us further forward, however a couple will most likely be retained as squad cover.
We are not scoring or defending well at the moment, just how many pens Jags is giving away is beyond me, and when Lukaku is not scoring we look blunt and somewhat desperate at times.
It's a big job and January is not the best time to recruit but I feel we need at least three in.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Nov 2016 02:31:50
Pretty much every supporter now believes the squad needs a massive overhaul - starting in January and continuing in the Summer.
A word of caution: we are restricted under the financial regulations as to how much we can spend on transfers and how much we can increase the wage bill.
We need much bigger commercial income - which isn't there yet - or we need to raise significant funds and free up substantial wages by transferring out players - which means losing some of our best players.
FM isn't allowed to just pump money into the club - the days of sugar daddies are gone - it has to be bona fide commercial income or sponsorship/ prize money.
Even the use of the TV money is subject to spending restrictions. That's why it'll take a couple of years to rebuild the squad.

{Ed025's Note - your right sid and thats why we must all be patient mate..

20 Nov 2016 11:10:21
Agree Sid but we new that at the start of the season, we are the only prem club to make money in the last transfer? we took a loan player from West Ham, yes West Ham, WTF, the problem is the board, they will not spend only when we sell, we where told we had 100m so that should be 120m in Jan or has the money gone missing again, remember this is only my opium, lol.
