My two cents on the Delboy by back clause.
1) he is clearly too good for the u21s. As has been shown with his recent exploits for Spain's u21s
2) he reminds me a bit of C. Ronaldo when he first broke in to the Utd team, a lot of step overs, a lot of excitement with plenty of end product but you felt he could and should do more.
3) this is the same Barcelona who figured Alexis Sanchez was not good enough for a similar position.
4) if they buy him back his fee and wages have been covered so it's like a loan deal but speculative and I hope we get to try similar deals in the future.
5) I think only the fact that he is Spanish and the fans therefore have a soft spot for him would make Barcelona be interested.
6) if he performs now till may where they feel they have no option but to buy him back we will be 4th or worst case 6th so everyone wins anyway.

Can't see him leaving as Suarez, Messi and Neymar are superior, Spanish or not. Sanchez didn't get sold because he wasn't good enough, he got sold because of Lionel Messi.

Or they buy him back for £6 million so that he can be moved on in a year for £15 million. You don't have to buy him back because you need a first team hole filled. You might want to buy him back because he's clearly worth more the the agreed fee.

Just read an article on the buy back clause on Del boy, if they do activate it at the end of the season for 8.3million there is not a thing we can do (from the mouth of Martinez) as that was part of the deal coming to us. I thought it was only if we wish to sell but this is not the case. Deepjoy!

But he has also said that they cannot sell him for a year. After that we have first choice. If we don't cgoose to take it then we get a large percentage of the deal. As he also said, we could not gave got him in any other way. Personally, I still think it was a good deal.

Those were the terms I understood when we signed him. That's why I asked on the rumour page 'did we not have to sell him if Barcelona triggered it'

It's a win win for Barcelona. That's obviously why he was sold for low money.

No matter what way you look at it, its a good deal for all involved. Martinez was dead right to sign him regardless of the exact terms of the contract.

There's just 2 reasons that would stop him going back imo. 1. Would he improve their squad? We are talking about pretty much one of the best teams in the world. 2. Does Del boy himself want to go back? He may want to stay with Everton even if Barcelona want him. Surely the player has some sort of say where he ends up.

No doubt talk and write ups will happen probably every week for the next couple of years.

All I know is I'm delighted Del boy is an Everton player. Long may it last.

Not a great deal, but in all likleyhood, the only way we could have got him in, but, does the player get a say about any future move, if he is playing week in week out, he may not fancy going back to be a bench warmer?

Can someone please tell me what the commercial value of Goodison park is. Surely if we sold the land and built a new stadium the cost of Goodison park would offset some of the price of a new stadium. I don't know what the land is worth where our ground is but here in Australia a harness racing track called Harold park was sold and the price of the land covered the cost of a new racing track with plenty in the kitty. Cheers for some info.

I think I remember reading a while back Oz when the Kirkby stadium was still ongoing that we would recoup 20 million with the sale of Goodison, just got to remember that land around Goodison is a bit cheaper than Mayfair.
