really excited when the new manager had his press conference, sounded like we had some decent money maybe but after the obvious wigan related rumours were already on the free transfer/unknown type players I hope we don't flood the squad with these type players because it never works, ask Newcastle and QPR fans

I always find that an appropriate introduction when I find myself in foreign territory.
I'm a gooner and wanted to ask about Fellaini. First of all I'm far from convinced he's coming to us, but if he were to I was wondering how good he is when playing that more defensive minded role. Wanted the opinion from people who see him week in week out. How good of a d. m could he be at Arsenal?
Genuine answers would be very much appreciated. Good luck for next season. Except against us of course ;-)

Deceivingly good if I summed him up. But I don't see him as a wenger type player. Could be wrong.

Great player, as Ed alluded to his temperament can let him down at times, but on his day he's simply unplayable. Has a bit of everything to his game and his versatility is a big plus too. In the DM role he's tireless (when he's not sulking) and would improve most teams. For c. £24m he's a bargain.

To be honest if your willing to pay the 24 mill release clause you can have him with my blessing we will replace him twice over with that money.

When he played the holding role under Moyes he did wander and get out of position a bit.

Personally I find it irritating when fans of champions league teams come over ("in peace") and ask us about a player they're planning to pluck out of our team after we've turned them into a good player (feli was big lumbering lump for his first 2 seasons) - just because they've got more money now - just because the champions league skews the league completely - arsenal were historically no bigger than everton - hacks me off that venger and fergie helped skew the english league forever and a day by rigging it all in favour of those teams that were in the top 4 at that particular time (give or take the odd billionaire gatecrasher - but they've even sewn up that route now as well) its all a big stitch up - who wants Manu, ManC and Chelski winning the league every year for the next 100 years?

Arsenal fan might condescend to us now - but they're stuck in 4th place going nowhere as well - hope they're happy too.

Hes not all that, just ask James McCarthy who dominates him every time. Rumour is that Fellani is still in the back pocket of his shorts from the QF of the cup.

Doesnt matter what tactics are deployed, if your a quality player you don't allow yourself to get "marked" out of the game. Its worth pointing out that McCarthy never went out to specifically man mark Fellani as well, but with all the games you see i'm sure you know that.

On the subject of Martinez, let's see how you like his tactics come May next year.

Course it does, and he was man marked Dave ( I thought I saw you there ). We won't be signing McCarthy, he's far too expensive for a Championship player and Fellaini's 3 times the player, fact. Also theirs most definaletly better players out there in the world to be looked at for that sort of money. Get behind the players we already have rather than telling everyone to sell them!

And you all think he'll magestically walk into our side? I'll tell you something, he wouldn't. Barkley, Pienaar and Osman are all better than him and he'd have to work his way into the side.
Plus, remember when you all moaned about paying £2-3m for Oviedo, a versatile Europe-proven young prospect?
Get a hold of yourself, what you're asking for is a lightweight 28-year old Colombian who's never plied his trade outside of South America. This is not what we need to move forward, not stop being so personic because none of you had heard of him before tv reported out apparent interest.

I think the type of signings we make this summer (when it actually happens of course. ) will give us evertonians a real idea of whether 'rm' has the ability to take us to the next level or not. Signings like 'Torres' will not, signings like 'Honda' & 'negrado/soldado' will!

am I the only evertonian who thinks anichebe is one of the worst players we have seen in a blue shirt i'm not pleased when he's playing. I would like to know what he's good at he tries to hold the ball up and turn but the titanic turns quicker amd he's lazy can someone please assure me that i'm right as I know i'm never wrong

Spot on toffeepop. Posted here many times about victor, 2 good games a season don't make you a good player. And as I've always said moyes indulged him for far far to long. {Ed025's Note - he changed my view last season jimmy, the guy gave his all, and done very well for me mate..

Imo ed the lads got it all to be a top top striker, power and strength, and no slouch in the pace department. He doesn't do it for me on a consistent basis. Best game I've seen him play was against spurs away last season, for every one good game youll get more than half a dozen games where victor reverts to type throwing himself on the floor gesturing and arguing with referees when centre halves are getting the best of him, where as it should be the centre half complaining because he's being pummelled by victor, the size of him. And then to basically being uninterested and always looking to the bench looking to come off when getting the slightest of knocks. he's not my idea of a Dave Hickson, Andy Gray, Duncan Ferguson type of character. {Ed025's Note - some of what you say i agree with jimmy, but he is a decent squad player mate, which we need more of IMO..

You've hit the nail on the head ed (see what I did there ha ha) A decent squad player, not a cert starter week in week out. Ok our squad isn't that or wasn't that big so needs must, then that brings us round to the question why wasn't Velios involved in the squad? apart from the once or twice being on the bench {Ed025's Note - because he and moyes fell out, and moyes does hold grudges...i think he will be given a shot under roberto mate..

To be fair victor was unplayable at times. And I don't think he looked back since. His attitude was simply class so I can't see we're this has come mate. LIAM!

Hardly call him a top defender, anichebe has pace and power but spends more tim on his a*se than 'rolling defenders' only memorable game I can remember is man city were he barged kolo toure off the ball but apart from that did nothing, does not make runs his finishing is poor and we should be doing better than him, every team nearly in the leage has a super sub (dzeko, hernandez, sturridge, walcott etc. ) Vellios is better imo works hard, can head the ball and looks like someone who if given the chance to score he will take it, anichebe just doesn't cut the mustard for me and we need someone better. I understand our small squad but as a whole anichebe has not changed my mind at all he is still the same old 6 foot 3 miserable a*se striker he always was

I go the game he prob had his best game against villa against a shocking defense, if people think backing into players to hold the ball and slow play right down is good then don't be silly, he lost ball doing that half the time, his runs he trys to make aren't intelligent and he takes 3 touches to get the ball under control, he's not good enough plain and simple

Soldado isn't bad but he's only got 79 dribbling so he isn't amazing. Capoue is alright for that money, but isn't going to set your team alight. Wijnaldum is a stellar buy for around 5m. Got me into the champions league first season :')

Hernan Burbano and Hugo Ayala are both decent Mexico based talents.

Obviously, this is all entirely reliable and applicable information in real life, so we should definitely buy every single one of them and it will get us, too, into the CL. *sigh*

He would be on over 150k a week at City and he isn't the type of player to take a wage cut, therefore, would hardly call him a bargain and rules us out.

He's going to be playing for free than is he? Or will he be on £200k pw? Not having a go at you mate, but people don't seem to take wages into consideration when making a post on here.

I don't think we stand a chance with Honda now sadly because the whole football world would have been alerted to him after last night. We should have have just put a decant offer for him months ago instead of competing with every other club trying to get him on a free transfer. {Ed025's Note - we tried to get a pre contract agreement in april, but his agent was stalling..

No I meant we should have put an offer to his club instead of trying to get him on a free transfer Ed as at least it would have shown we genuinely wanted him and not just because he is out of contract.
