Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - thats a matter of opinion bretto, he is 28 and that is ivory coast years....so he must be about 45.. :)

20 Jan 2016 18:58:33

he not bad but not really improvment on maisy.

20 Jan 2016 19:15:15
Long is a good player reaching his peak at the moment I think. Look at Jamie Vardy. Who'd of thought he was going to have the season he has so far.

Long is a slight improvement on Naismith imho.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 19:52:13
I don't see him as improvement pace yes that about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2016 04:55:53
I wouldn't take a punt on doumbia myself wouldn't want to end up with a broken foot lol

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jan 2016 08:49:56
Shane Long would be a good punt, that is always supposing they have someone that can persuade him to come here. Everton now in the top 20 money league yet seem unable to attract top players and investment/ takeover (if rumour becomes fact) is a no go.

Possible reasons why we lose out on some players:
we aren't - and don't look likely at present to ever be - In the Champions League;
we don' t have the revenue to pay huge wages (without a modern stadium we don't have the match-day income nor do we have the commercial income that other clubs have) ;
we aren't based in London (whatever you might think, many players - especially foreign players and their families - would prefer to live in London) ;
we aren't a "glamorous brand" known worldwide.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Jan 2016 12:52:59
Can't disagree with that, I wonder though how the likes of Stoke can also be more attractive than us.

in a last ditch attemt to save their season, liverpool fc have dug up the pitch to plant potatoes. that way they will have something to lift in may.

Bit hacked off with this on other sites to be honest. Don't understand this obsession with the other lot, we have enough troubles off our own and besides they are still 2 points ahead of us. Time to make fun and shout is when we consistently finish above.

Dunc chill out, it's only a joke, too much sadness on here lately, i'm having a 5 day breather from here as depressing, speak soon Blues.

20 Jan 2016 21:12:25
He's totally right, who gives a flying f about that lot? Hasn't hit home with a lot on here but we are in a precarious position atm, concentrate on us not them over the park.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 14:21:52
. the Reds look like they're getting rid of Sturridge, possibly in this window - anyone think we should take a chance with his fitness and put a bid in? Certainly on his day he's very good?!? Praps we could do a part ex. with Kone and a tube of smarties as a gesture?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

20 Jan 2016 15:22:42
No chance, if they get 18 million for him I will eat my own backside, having a footballer who is too scared to kick a ball is not the best situation to be in.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 16:37:13
No chance, too much money for a player who can't play 15 games a season. Not on Rom's level, a few tap ins vs Southampton aside. 200k a week, most of his injuries are fake anyway, very convenient he wasn't injured when Suarez was there dragging 3 defenders and giving him all the time in the world, now when he has to actually do some work himself instead of it being handed to him he gets injured every day. Joke of a professional.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 16:44:04
The tube of smarties would probably last longer than Sturridge.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 17:17:36
Nail on the head Swan, when Suarez was there Sturridge was dancing around the pitch like a ballet dancer on stegs.

To be fair he scored some cracking goals when fit. But that is the problem. when is he fit? Not very often!

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jan 2016 21:16:31
Scores some good goals when fit but so would my nan if she was as greedy as him. 20 shots a game, hannibal made him look better than he is. Gets shown up at international level. I'd rather tempt barn door out of retirement.

martinez get in early and sign stepthan el shaarawi, frozen out of monaco squad as they don't want to the fee after playing a certain about of games on loan from milan. available for a fee around £9 m. can play left wing, striker, attacking midfielder. bargain player that just needs that little bit of caring and only aged 23.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2016 12:12:38
I like him but he is very injury prone and we have enough of them already.

Agree1 Disagree0

He's supposed to have a bad attitude, hence AC Milan loaning him out and Monaco not wanting to keep him.

like I said, he needs a little caring, but huge talent for little money.

Just seen on the Everton app that ssn are saying city beat Utd to sign Ross. Can't they make any other stories up about other clubs every time it's our club it's like no one wants us moving forward including our own board. I got a feeling our board will put in a late bid for a high profile player knowing quiet well there is no chance just to look like they are busy in transfer market. Then we will get news of a not happening take over. Then when we start moaning there will be interest all of a sudden. It's the same d story lies after lies. All I want is the truth like the rest of us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2016 11:37:36
Cheer up Pob, only a game buddy, too much depression on this site lately, could be worse as we are probably same type of club as Villa, wouldn't want to be their fans.

when lukaku duz leave the only man to replace him will be bony would get him for 25mill and turn him into 65mill striker, the reason everton have put that tag on his head is to say pay up or shut up to clubs interested and to his agent.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2016 11:18:53
I'm not convinced by Bony. Then again, anyone would struggle having to compete with - and being compared with - Aguero!

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 11:36:21
he will score goals bud and to be honest he's prob only one out there close to lukaku prem experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 11:47:32
Bony is a quality striker who just needs a good run and who needs to be the main man.

25 million for him is a steal in today's market.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 12:14:18
totally agree toffee ace he has to be the man ear marked for lukakus replacement when he eventually leaves am made up his agents saying he's going know were for now how about if lukaku geos in summer bony and rooney I think that could happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 13:40:45
That would be 430k a week. We can't afford it.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 14:59:10
If we ever get Rooney back it will be nothing to do with money as he'll clearly have to take a pay cut. But I will be very surprised if it didn't happen. Next summer? Who knows. But Lukaku or Bony with him just sat behind is indeed mouthwatering.

Agree0 Disagree1

20 Jan 2016 15:20:14
we will with tv deal plus sale of lukaku plus player would take a cut for first team football with the chance of makein him into better player swan its very possible not many thought lukaku deal would come off it did swan.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 15:24:19
Rooney won't come back Ace, he would still get massive money in the USA/ China and we all know money talks mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 16:09:36
there is very very strong rumours he will he duznt want to up root kids, kia his older son who is a massive massive blue himself he wants to see his dad play for everton the barrier was broken when he played in duncs testimonial he's believed to of told dun he wants to come back and finish what he started at everton, he loves the attacking side of everton at the mo and it suites his style only a massive rumour.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 16:40:47
But Lukaku wasn't on massive wages mate, that's why we could get him, he's our 3rd highest paid player. Doubt we could improve Bony, nearly 28 isn't he. On Rooney, why would he take a pay cut? Twice he's threatened Man Utd just to get a raise, he's all about the money. Wouldn't sell Rom for the 2 of them, even with 30m thrown in.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 16:47:30
From the day he left he was always going to return . My guess is this Summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 17:07:07
I wouldn't but he's going to go (lukaku) and we need to plan for that bud always look ahead that's my motto, lukaku is on a lot of doe now though swan, playing week in week out he will improve (bony) , I personally think its not out the question the rooney one is most unlikely, but surely bony would be perfect replacement I think he would come still 5 years in him.

Agree1 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 17:55:49
All the people writing off Rooney and talk of his return have been a bit premature I think. Yes he has lost a bit of form this season. but which player does not do that in their career. I suspect a bit of a run and he will be banging in the goals again. He is only 30 years old and built like the proverbial brick outhouse. I cannot see Utd letting him go for another couple of seasons unless they have a replacement and so far there is no sign of that. Mark my words.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 21:22:01
Rooney is not coming back, no matter how many rumours people say have confirmed this. Bony is too old to improve, he did ok with Swansea and should have stayed. Just another greedy player who thought grass was greener. Yes, you could say he wanted champs league but, let's be honest, how many times have city got beyond the group stage? Leaving a team where he plays week in week out for a possible 6 games a season is bs to me boys.

So, in the horrible, horrible event that we do sell Lukaku: Would anyone take £65 million?

I know it's quoted in the S*n, and I'm not trusting it one bit, just an interesting thought.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2016 06:12:13
No, no, no!
In the very unlikely - nigh impossible - scenario that we did, it would show that we are a selling club (a feeder club for wealthier clubs) , and we'd be selling for financial reasons rather than football reasons, and that would be totally contrary to what Roberto Martinez has been boasting about regarding our best players like Lukaku, Stones, etc. Every player can be transferred at the right price AND at the right time, BUT this clearly is NOT the right time. Maybe in the Summer - if Everton haven't qualified for the CL next season and Begium do well at the Euros (thanks to Lukaku's goals and performances) - then if the big European clubs enter a bidding war (however unlikely! ) and we'd have time to invest the money and recruit wisely, then it just might be the right footballing time. Until then, it's a case imho of "where do the media get these stories from? "

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Jan 2016 07:19:35
I agree Cowpat that now is not the time to sell him (I'd rather we never sell him if we can get him to sign a new contract to be honest) but when his contract has 2 years left to run and he doesn't sign a new one which is what I think will happen we will have no option but to sell. The same can be said of Stones. As long as we have them on a decent length of contract we just hold on and get the max we can for them when we decide is the right time to sell and not before. Unfortunately I have a feeling that both Stones and Lukaku's contracts run out at the same time June 2019 (I could be wrong so please correct if I am) so we could be forced into replacing our two best players at the same time albeit after being handsomely rewarded with big transfer fees.

Greetings to all fellow blues and Eds, thought I'd start a little discussion on transfers, with Naismith departing, which striker would you like to see realistically bring in considering all circumstances. A priority I think myself in case Lukaku get's injured (touch wood) I don't personally fancy Kone leading the line haha. Oh and I know the league is a little disappointing this season and we have our problems but hey imagine a cup double!

I'd like a punt on Andre Gray from Burnley. Very promising player.obviously there is more expensive and better strikers, but seems as though Martinez is all about the future for his teams, then Gray is worth a shout.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2016 12:35:07
At the price he'd cost - surely well upwards of £10M - I don't think bringing in Andre Gray could be regarded as a punt. I'm not saying he wouldn't prove his worth, but it'd be a heck of a gamble for us at that price.
