Need to strengthen midfield! Don't need any more wingers, please no more wingers.

i agree, we need an attacking midfielder who can play that final pass

worst performance I've seen so far from bobbys side, didn't look up for it at all, crowd was silent, could just feel nothing about the game, both sides were scrappy, thought bobby should have madd his changes a lot earlier than he did, with the latest injuries, for the derby we are in trouble

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I thought we were very poor today.
Too many long balls kicked forward out of defence hoping that Lukaku would win headers (which he didn't do most of the time) and hoping that Mirallas and others would make something of the knock-downs (which they didn't do most of the time) or get behind the WestBrom defence (which, again, they didn't do successfully enough times). Where was the passing game that we've enjoyed watching? If we play like this in the derby, then we'll surely not get a decent result. Tonight's performance was like that of a Moyes's Everton team :-(
Looks like Coleman might have a hamstring injury - why do we have so many players suffering these problems this season?
On a positive note, we didn't lose and McGeady showed some decent touches and made some goodish runs when he came on.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that's the way we're going to play against teams that press us high up the pitch - i.e. punting the ball upfield for our centre forward to compete for headers and then work off the knockdowns (maybe that's why we're looking to sign 6'8" Lacina Traore!) instead of the lovely passing game out of defence that RM has introduced, then I'll be very disappointed. Hopefully, tonight was just a one-off tactic because of the opposition's pressing game, the players we had available, and the fixtures we've got coming up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Kev. We looked poor in the second half and allowed Albion back into a game we should have had sewn up at half time.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we were anywhere near as bad as some people are making out tonight, ok we should have won the game but they were always going to come out fighting. Feel like a lot of criticism a bit harsh

managed to catch the whole game, so frustrating

howard-6-apart from the goal he didn't have anything to do

coleman-5-seen him outpace matt jarvis, wayne routledge, roland lamah and gareth bale, chris brunt sprinted past him effortlessly, he was always out of position, getting caught out and kept going on the inside, poor today

jagielka-7-not much to say really

distin-5.5-anelka had him in zig zags as did vydra early on, poor marking for lugano

baines-7.5-tried to do things but had no support, coped well defensively and was just reliable

barry-6.5-did a few awful passes and looked worried on the ball, not his standard today

mccarthy-6-kept backing off all the time but was okay on the ball

oviedo-6-didnt do anything except for 2 poor shots

osman-8-our best player today, neat and tidy, got caught and was on his arse too long but allowed runs and actually looked bothered in the ball

mirallas-6-decent goal and yep that was it

lukaku-6-please can we get a different striker, he frustrates me so much, has so much pace and strength but doesn't use it, won about 2 headers all game and is lazy, was in olssons back pocket all game

stones-6.5-came on and looked good going forward, isn't the quickest but is good that's for sure

mcgeady-6-didnt do much, did a nice skill but wasnt on the ball enough to do anything

naismith-6-touched the ball once I think, wasnt on long enough to judge

always fail to capitalize on the reds loosing, kept hoofing the ball to much and looked shaky on the ball, not good enough today, play like that against liverpool and we can expect a 5-0 thrashing, come on lads better next week

Mike-Ox Long

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - 8 for osman? I know you are waiting for a response mike..

20 Jan 2014 22:43:41
Agree with most of that obviously except osman.was lazy and easy to push off the ball.kept giving away the ball.should have been dragged off at half time. Mc geady at least looked a bit interested when he came on.what was the story with Vic, he never played that well for us. Our lads looked afraid of him

Agree0 Disagree0

Really? Baines 7.5? Couldn't read further through laughter, thought he was poor again and shouldn't be in the team, Oviedo has been much better all season. None of them deserved over a 5. Thought Mirallas was the only one half arsed, the rest - not fit to wear the shirt on that performance.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2014 22:49:23
for god sake, I wanted to come on here and rip into the whole team but thought i'd give osman special treatment because if I didn't I would be raged on if I had a go, guess he deserved more ripping into than some of his other games, damn it! could of had a fun time ripping into him, what an opportunity missed!

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2014 23:34:46
Not like you Mike to miss that opportunity. Although I wouldn't say that will be his last bad game for us so I'd say you will get another chance

Agree0 Disagree0

Just a dire performance, played like it was a pre-season game.I just don't understand how they can play like that with the carrot of fourth place in front of them.I could tell after 20 seconds it was going to be poor. What was all the long ball crap and poor first touches by everyone?.The sooner Barkley and Delefeou are back the better.Need a response now lads, bigtime!.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm surprised you didn't go for the jugular there Mike unless you are jesting with us. Leon Osman had a poor game tonight and should have been replaced earlier than he was. In Ross's absence he had the perfect chance to stake his claim but he blew it. At best a bit part substitute (who can still change a game as proved against Villa earlier this season) if he can come on with fresh legs. But tonight? Very poor to say the least.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only players who did well tonight Jagielka, and Mirallas. Howard, Oviedo and McCarthy were ok, the rest of the starting 11 were either poor or very poor. We are badly missing Barkley and Delu and even on tonights showing Peanuts who gets the best out of Baines.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2014 22:11:51
Gutted. such a missed opportunity, could have gone fourth and then had the chance to go 4 points ahead of the RS by beating them next week. Now beating them is a must but will need to play a lot better than tonight. Thank god for mccarthy, works his socks off but we need ross and delboy back. We also need a new face in midfield as we look like we ran out of ideas. Beat the Rs and we can qualify for CL, come on Everton

I would like to start by saying that I am in no way shape or form, here to take the p*ss out of you guys. Despite being a LFC fan, I have an enormous amount of respect for our neighbours. I very much like the way your club is being run, I like your manager (definite upgrade on your last ;)) and I feel you are a genuinely quality team whom I would like to see in the top 4 (behind us of course ha). I very much appreciate this "try before you buy" approach you're taking on, and I don't think in any way it will hinder you when they go back to their parent clubs. Anyway to my point (and remember this isn't aimed at Everton).

Daveyboy Blue - I know you won't be posting on the Liverpool page anytime soon as you will cower out until Liverpool slip up again (as we will), so I thought I'd come here to ask you what you thought of that free kick Mirrallas (spelling) bought? You come over to our site, un-provoked and slate our players for diving, and then yours do exactly the same. Now, I'm not comparing a free kick to a penalty, but Osman? Again, I am by no means slating any of your players, at the end of the day, every player dives when given the opportunity, it's one of the things I don't like in football as a generality. The thing I dislike more than that though, is the undeserved slating you dish out on supporters of another club. It's people like you that give football fans the bad name.

LFC fan leaving in peace

Believable0 Unbelievable0

TCotton it's good of you to visit us in peace. My reasons for visiting your site is simply to ask questions which fellow supporters of yours rarely allow us Blues an answer.
Without causing offence to you, you must surely be curious why we have regularly questioned Skrtel's shirt pulling antics which have gone unpunished all season by referees. Why you have not conceded a penalty to date is beyond me when he has got away with this week after week.
The other grievance we have is the blatant penalty winning dives Suarez and Sterling have recently received. Is this now a regular training ground procedure that is undergone at Mellwood whereby the youth players are brought out to marvel at the triple salkos being displayed by Luis and Raheem?
Get over yourself. You complain about our loan signings simply because we signed better players than Moses and Sissokho. If you had a better manager than ours I could understand why you would feel aggrieved. As it is let him continue at the helm under your deluded owners. I know it will end in turmoil when he will again spend their dollars on garbage not fit to grace the Europa League let alone the Champions League which is where Roberto is taking us.

Very poor performance tonight had a very good chance to go 4th heading into the derby! Just been away for some warm weather training had a good break but yet we looked tired!we were continuously lumping the ball upfield didn't even try passing it around! There were winning everything in midfield! That has to be our worst performance under Martinez! Need to be beating teams like west brom if we want top 4! Hopefully that was a one off, we need to get back to passing it around, Osman needs a stint on the bench now the sooner Barkley is back the better! Coleman could be out with an hamstring injury! Our numbers are dwindling! I'm still hopeful of a top 4 finish but we must be better than tonight!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2014 22:05:07
Very, very, very unimpressed by tonight's game. 4th was there for the taking and we come out and play like that; one of the least passionate or enthusiastic performances I have seen in my entire life.

The game was screaming out for Osman to go off and McGeady to come on, yet he doesn't do anything till about the 80th minute, then takes Oviedo off? THEN brings on NAISMITH?!

Our performances against United and Chelsea where superb, but playing this badly against your Stoke's, Sunderland's and West Brom's is infuriating. I fear that Bobby is a bit too nice and will have told the boys to carry on the way they where at half time because we were 1-0, rather than telling them to put a shift in and win the game. Very unimpressed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - I can't argue with that AB..

Totally agree AB1878. That second half was not good enough with what we've been used to this season. As soon as they brought Victor on and we kept Osman on, we never looked capable of pushing on to score a second. Really disappointing at the death when I thought we'd won it. But again would that have been papering over the cracks of a poor overall game that we should have won (at least on paper)?

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jan 2014 22:03:53
I thought we were a bit sloppy tonight. Missed Pienaar big time. Baines not able to get on his runs without him. Then 2nd half we sat back too much hoofing it out to the halfway line/midfield where we were outnumbered. They eventually scored and we woke up again and looked like scoring. RM will probably say to the team that we need to kill games off when we are 1 nil up. not sit back and defend all the time. Very uncharacteristic of his tactics this season. Be interested to see Mike Ox's scores. I thought Barry was ok and McCarthy average too. Yes Osman was muscled out a lot too. In fact so was Lukaku and a few others apart from the goal. Coleman's injury a blow.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2014 22:03:47
Well I think that shows us we really do need another quality midfielder. Bit worried about Seamus hope it's only a tweak and nothing serious.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2014 22:02:59
disapointed. if we have hope for top 4 these games we have to to win, we never looked like dominating times like now players need to stand up an show we want champs league. an ed 25 b4 you say wba are decent sry no they are not if they werre they wouldn't be down there this is a massive loss of points and come end ov season could be decisive. if we want 4th we have to beat the likes of wba 6 th place this season for us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - WBA were very poor toffo, but i thought we had more about us than that mate..

This is becoming all too familiar now, away draws at Norwich, Palace, Cardiff, Stoke and now tonight. All in the bottom half, genuine contenders win most of these games, shortage of goals away seems to be the problem.

20 Jan 2014 22:00:29
really disappointed with that 2nd half, let them back in the game far too easily, lukaku was woeful and we are in real trouble now with injuries, pienaar, osman, delboy, barkley, coleman, a backup striker and a cm is a must, real real chance wasted can't stress how disappointed I am

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2014 22:00:14
prob's the worst performance this season still happy with the point worried about the lack of height in are midfield at least big vic didn't come on and score against us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - yeah poor that taz, not a disaster of a result, but our entertainment value was dreadful..

20 Jan 2014 21:58:37
Very dissapointed dropping points. West Brom looked sharper than us and were cynical.

We miss a dynamic midfielder and I don't know wots going on with Romelu but he is either being well marshalled or is just not up to it at mo. Our service and touch was bad tonight but the pitch didn't look the best.
We could quite easily of lost that.
No tempo from us. Quite a few sloppy performances.
We r hanging in there but need to get on a winning run.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2014 21:12:14
Osman not having a good game so far - he's the one making lots of little mistakes and giving away possession

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - awful performance by us, i dont know if its the pitch, but our first touches are so heavy, very disappointed indeed..

We were poor, still on their holidays. Only one or two played anything like. Barry and mirallas had half decent games. We were one nil up and it looked like we were playing for a draw! You could feel their goal coming.!coleman injured cannot take anything positive from that performance sorry

West Brom working hard which was to be expected. We have been sloppy at times but the pitch looks a bit sticky. We need to up it second half. Lukaku getting kicked seven bells out of.
Victor on for WBA be a test for our back four.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have a nice little bet on a 2-0 win tonight. So don't let me down boys. Won't complain if we win by more tho.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let's hope so, this is by far and wide the most important game of the season so far. Anything less than 3 points and I will be bitterly disappointed. I think this game will signal how far we have progressed as a team and whether Martinez truly has abolished the negative mentality the previous regime had bred into our players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - WBA are no mugs bitter, I don't know why people expect them to roll over because Everton are in town!, they are a decent outfit, and as much as I think we are a better team, it's not a foregone conclusion mate..

Totally agree. WBA's players will be keen to show their new manager what they are made of so let's not be complacent. We have got a battle on our hands and BitterBlue is right. This game is massively important. We can rightfully stake a claim for 4th spot if we win. That would be fantastic to take with us when we play the RS across the park in two weeks. But let's not underestimate the Albion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I chose the wrong wording there Ed, there's no doubt in my mind that West Brom will put up a hell of a fight, but I'd be extremely disappointed if we don't win because it's an opportunity to leap frog Spurs and Liverpool into 4th spot.

Hi all, Have not been on for a while, in fact not at all this season, I did tell all to stick by Seamus Coleman last season when so many wanted rid of him. From what I have seen of him this season he is without doubt the best right back in the league and up this point our player of the season, see some reports Moyes looking to make a bid of 15m in the summer, but to me he has to be just as important to us as Baines. So at what price do my fellow blues price him at now?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair when he started he was very clumsy and couldn't control the ball very well and made lots of mistakes but the transformation has been miraculous and a lot of credit must go to the lad himself because he must have worked on himself like a Trojan to make himself as good as he's become but also listened to advice of his coaches
Nice one seamus keep it up!

Really hope I'm wrong but if traore is out for 6 weeks and he is on 75k a week. I couldn't see us wanting to pay a player close to half a mill before they have even kicked a ball. Really hope we don't miss out on him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2014 16:20:16
I have my doubts about traore, he is no doubt a good player and I hope he will have a positive impact on the team but personally I think he could disrupt the work ethic the team has as he can be at sometimes lazy to say the least.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

20 Jan 2014 14:48:27
Seems like we're getting Traore, another loan, which is sure to upset some fans. I mean how dare we use the loan market effectively, how dare we not have that much money and still be competing?

Think the idea is these players will get us in the Champions League meaning Bobby gets more cash to spend in the summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You make a very valid point Tony. Although loans aren't ideal or everyone's cup of tea, needs must. Hopefully we can get Barry signed up in the summer with some other cracking signings. Fingers crossed hey fellas! Just going back to the loan market issue. all teams are entitled to make a number of loan signings so stop moaning and use the rules to your advantage.

3-0 for me tonight. Luk for 2 and Coleman the other.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think anyone has a problem with us utilising the loan system, just a few, including myself, are a little concerned that we're becoming too reliant on them and next year they'll have all gone, so we'll have to rebuild the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely right Tony. That'll make 4 loanees as opposed to FFC's 2. What the RS can't comprehend is that this IS allowed. It's only because Moses and Cissokho are c***p in comparison to Lukaku, Barry and Delboy; that they let their jealousy rise to the surface. Let's hope our 6 foot 8 Gentle Giant can follow in their footsteps and give them more to moan about. COYB.

Usually just a reader, don't know if anyone recognises my name but I posted a few times about mirallas when we signed him, anyway blues just wanted to say how much of a difference there is reading posts compared to this time last year, there's rarely any mention of kenwright at all,

I hate it when I read a negative post about moyes, I'm only 19 myself so I'm ashamed to say I never got to see the great everton teams over the years, but I do remember from my youngest memory what an unstable team we were, on the verge dare I say it of being relegated, and along comes Dave, he balanced our club when we needed it, yes it was time for him to go, but the man gave us a long service, he gave us hopes of Europe and set the majority of our team up for bobby, a man with far More of a tactical knowledge and modern footballing brain, to take us on and become one of the best two footballing teams in the league.

Just a quick one for those spuds fans, where's the harm in loaning one of the best young forwards in the world (lukaku) one of the best young wingers (deulofeu) when it could earn us a champions league spot, then whose to say we won't bid for one of these players, or someone of equal quality with the money from the champions league and the club being a more recognised team around Europe again, honest lads there's no need to be upset and worrying about our loans, you've just spent £100M haven't you?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Your loyalty does you credit, Giannis. But, speaking as someone who WAS a huge Moyes fan, sometimes people do things that just can't be overlooked. It was bad enough that he went to that lot, but his behaviour afterwards with that cringe inducing first press conference & the shameless pursuit of Bainsey was simply unacceptable. All that, "Sir Alec told me I was going to be the next Manchester United manager and you can't say no to that." twaddle - Yes you can! 2 letters, and & O!
Anyway, we've come out of the situation well on top, better manager, the team playing better football, not being scared any more of the so-called "bigger" teams. Win-Win situation. Plus, the added bonus of the chaos & meltdown at Mold Trafford!
To use a marriage analogy, what Moyes did was like having a wife who looked after you & your family well, built a good home & was you thought the perfect spouse. Then, someone with more money that she has secretly lusted over for years becomes available & she drops you like a flash & moves in with him. Just disrespectful & nasty behaviour.

IR(&K)IT

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post - and I do agree that the Moyes posts are becoming a little tiresome.
Although I was not happy with the way he left, nor do I appreciate the contempt with which he has treated the club since he left, I do though appreciate the job he did for us. Having said that, he has made his bed and as a club we have moved forward. I must admit that I found his comment last week about not discussing players at other clubs quite amusing.

I have to agree on the Spurs front also. I couldn't give a monkeys what goes on at other clubs, so why the sudden disapproval at our loan signings? The word jealousy does spring to mind. After all we are a proper football club, run by a chairman who by his own admission is not the richest, but has made our club the envy of most true football supporters. We can justifiably have pride in our club, something money simply cannot buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

On the money Tezza. I was genuinely in despair when I knew he was doing the off. My mood changed though when he'd already begun working for them despite still getting paid by Bill. Then there was the long pursuit of Felli & Baines which as we know, ended up with them paying for one, virtually what he'd initially offered for both. My anger at the guy then turns to one of sheer delight when his 'bigger and better' club spend the first 6 months in freefall. Long may that continue. Yes, he did steady the ship but it appears he was also holding us back and ultimately, doing what he did showed how little respect he has for the club and the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

. and then you pull the young Spanish sort from down the road and spend the rest of the year high-fiving your mates down the pub!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Giannis and Tezza. I'm only 18, so I'm the same as you; I've only ever seen Moyes' team, never the old greats, but I do remember our struggling form earlier in his tenure. I, like you, am incredibly greatful for what he did for us - he truly turned our fortunes around - but I can't overlook the disgraceful manner in which he pursued our players and insulted our club after he left. I didn't blame him for going; who wouldn't? But had he have just kept his mouth shut and left us alone, he would still have all our support.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Toffee. You took the words right out of my mouth. Spot on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed with all posts, but I don't think I explained myself in full, yes, David moyes is an ego enflated hypocrite, I think everyone has established that, but he still gave us a very long and loyal service, he could of jumped ship to Tottenham, villa when they were flying, possibly the RS, he was mentioned for the Chelsea job, city. But to be quite honest I don't care what he's doing or who he's managing, Roberto Martinez was the manager of everton last time I checked and moyes was the jealous ex wife, Everton aren't we

Hope in the summer we get rid off some of the fringe players such as osman, naismith, etc we can possibly progress or compete if their our options we need strength in depth not them two crabs waiting to get a game, hope we sign ince, michy and barry all in the summer, any chance of us getting a quality midfielder in ed? Steven defour would be ideal for us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah every player that has represented the club this season should hang their head in shame. Wholesale changes required squad overhaul needed we are an embarrassment to ourselves!
Get a grip man

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair svenny he doesn't say get rid of every player, and we should be looking looking to improve the quality of the squad players. I like Ossie but his time is coming to an end as it will for all players, and Naismith just hasn't been the player we hoped for not saying the two of them of rubbish but I think its time we started aiming higher.
