Its on mancs rumours site that they mite be interested in Barkley in January. Dm won't be content until he has destroyed our team by the looks of it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

By January nobody will join them mancs

Agree0 Disagree0

So what? They were interested in Fabregas, didn't happen.

Do you really think given the choice Ross is going to join up with a manager who didn't think he was ready for the PL or stay with the club he loves under a manager who believes in him and give him his chance to shine? {Ed025's Note - they were also interested in thiago, higuain, and baines, maybe they are not quite the draw they once were?..

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly Ed, not exactly the first choice for a lot of players these days. Plus who knows, by January the "Chosen one" may have turned into the "Forgotten one!"

Agree0 Disagree0

The Mancs are obsessed with our players.

At this rate they'll have a new manager by January and he'll have different targets to be linked with!

Kurajan

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkley would be of interest to most clubs, at the moment I am guessing a bid of 25mil would swing a deal.
Give the lad a new contract quick or big wages may turn his head, he's going to be a top player.
Big Bill (LFC)

Agree0 Disagree0

It's up to the club to create a successful environment that makes top-quality players want to be here. If we aren't successful, who can honestly blame a player for being tempted by the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid or Bayern Munich if the opportunity arose? (I can't bring myself to name the so-called "big" English clubs - especially those reliant on massive debts or sugar daddies.)
There have been very few one-club players over the recent years - most (apart from a few notable exceptions) have moved around. Wouldn't it be great if Ross Barkley - and a few others - played their careers successfully and exclusively with Everton?

Good result last night with exceptional first half performance. Just a concern with drop in concentration in second half and had Gouffan's effort gone it could have changed the nature of the game.
I'm really happy with Roberto not only in the way he conducts himself in representing the club but his footballing philosophy and tactical know how.
I'm sure he will address not giving the opposition any phycological advantage, even when leading 3 nil, by going all out to score again to kill off the game.
Also would like to see Deulofeu starting or given longer sub time but not at the expense of Mirallas.
I suspect Gibbo didn't feature last night as he will be needed to face City in place of Barry, as a loanee, who will not be allowed to play.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great point about Barry not being allowed to play against ManCity - I'd forgotten about that.

Lukaku could be greatest signing this club ever made. We might not get him but we would be fools to even not try.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Greatest signing? surely that was the Great Dixie Dean.

Agree0 Disagree0

What I would give for a modern day Dixie Dean to come through our ranks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great player but what about sharp, royal, latchford, lineker, young, temple, dean, laughton, hickson, Vernon, cottee, the list is endless. tom efc.

Not mention big dunc tom efc

dont mean to put a downer on our last night but people need to give up with jelavic seriously playing him and lukaku would be disastrous he is done just leave him now he has had his chance

Mike-Ox Long

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Disagree he would get his confidence back, what if lukaku gets injured were donald ducked. kendall is right we should play 2 of the 3 on occasions, tom efc.

we have said it too many times mate 'under roberto he will get his confidence back' 'alongside vic he will get his confidence back' 'alongside mirallas he will get bus confidence back' 'alongside kone he will get his confidence back' he is finished now mate

Mike-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

He scored 11 in 16 games, you don't give up on someone like that. tom efc.

Agree0 Disagree0

He scored 11 in 16 granted, but since he's scored 1 in 27. If you don't give up, after handing him more than enough chances, after that when do you?
Truth is, his all round game is garbage. If he's not scoring he doesn't offer much else other than effort, and lots of falling over and being offside. Time to cut him loose and bid him farewell.

Things are looking good for this season and for future talents to come to goodison too:

Lukaku: probably the best up and coming in Belgium

Delefou: best up and Coming in Spain

Barkely : best up and coming midfielder in England

Mcarthy : best up and coming Irish midfielder

Coleman: best Irish right back

Stones: best up and coming playing centre half

If we go in for more talented youngsters I think we would be heads and shoulders above the rest with signing them

Thoughts
Wasy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Coleman best Irish right back? Technically you're correct, of course, but I'd say he's the best right back in the league at the moment.
I was one of his biggest critics at the beginning of last season, labelling him a headless chicken etc but, I'm happy to be proved wrong. What a great player he's become and will only get better still. If he can add goals to his game, he can become as good as, if not better, Lord Leighton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you I was just stating how good they are in that pool of players we have a very exciting squad for years to come if we can add more equality youth but jags needs replacing great defender for a moyes type team put will always have a mistake in him while playing passing football what do you think ed?

Thoughts
Wast {Ed025's Note - i really like jags wasy, but he seems to be struggling a bit with this formation, i hope he adapts because he is everton through and through..

was a bit surprised to see visitors section not full last night. I know its a sign of the times I suppose but when you think we had 3500 at fulham during the week you then realise what fantastic support we get everywhere we go.

I thought there were a lot of good indvidual performances last night but am I the only one that thought McCarthy was man of the match. He was everywhere and really neat with his passing. Also Cabaye looked really pally with all the Everton players, shaking hands with whoever went off as sub and then shaking hands with whoever came on. don't know if he's like that with all opponents or maybe on his way in Jan?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Been saying for ages Macarthy is class he might if been bit pricey but it will work out well as he is young and already there in terms first team great first half as good as I have seen for along time from any team in prem barkley is getting better and better we have a rare talent again he just looks class

Agree0 Disagree0

Cabaye was just scared of another Toffee doing to him what Cahill after he decided to push a ball boy at the end of 2011/12 season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Leave the guy alone . Was noticeable, at the end he gave all our lads hugs & smiles . seemed to have a good rapport with them . played well himself, great goal . obviously enjoyed our play, one for the future

Ed025 I was pretty scathing of Seamus last season.
called him headless chicken and slaughtered him on here for stupid mistakes like against Fulham away and the fa cup semi final in particular. Just want to say he has improved dramatically and thought he was excellent last night. totally out played Ben Arfa in the first half.i was wrong about him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice admission Stewillow. My missus said the same as you last season and now says he looks good. I am guessing as a footballer because he is not blessed with good looks. I agree totally with you both. His value might be 10 million soon if he carries on like this. Another unearthed gem.

Hey lads just out of interest, the squad we have is amazing at the moment, just wondering who you would value the most in our squad (value wise), also what value would you put on each individual first team player, this Is just in comparison to our squad value a few years ago, e.g. we have Delofeou(excuse spelling) and lukaku who are valued at 30 mil plus, to have those two players alone is inspiring. loving it these days a happy blue.

Westy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There valued at that but there not nesecarily £30M players yet, they have the potential to be and I don't reckon Barkley would be far off that valuation either

Good shout that, cheers

Great performance last night! Disappointed we couldn't keep a clean sheet but the points are what matter and anything else is a bonus! We play like we did in the first half last night for the entire 90 against city next week then I think we will beat them (again)! Roll on Saturday!

Delighted with first half performance, not sure what happened second half. We're obviously not used to being 3 nil up at half time and switched off a bit.

Lukaku is a beast and exactly what we've been crying out for, shame he'll be on his way in the summer, but let's get the most out of him this season.

I was really unsure when Moyes left and Martinez took over, was up for the change in manager and new ideas, but there was that feeling of security with Moyes. Been really pleased with how we've started and delighted that we appointed Martinez, lots still to work on, but to still be unbeaten is a fantastic start for the manager and the players

Coleman and Barkley are finally flourishing and are looking the real deal. I think Moyes held them both back and Coleman is certainly thriving in a slightly more attacking brand of football. Barkley to me looks like he'll become a better player than Wilshere (biased I know!).

Roll on the weekend against sh*tty.

wilshere isn't all that IMO all he does is run forward 8 yards at speed and play a simple 5 yard pass to someone whilst on the odd occasion he may tackle and he never looks like he has a goal in him plus he is always on his arse injured or crying because someone tackled back, barkley on the other hand can skip past people with ease, has pace, class with both feet, has a powerful shot and can take penalties but also had a goal or two in him, wilshere is vastly overrated IMO

Mike-Ox Long {Ed025's Note - to be fair mike, i think wilshire is top notch mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Oct 2013 18:28:11
plus barkley is very physically strong, for me ed wilshere is overhyped like a lot of english players and a lot of arsenal players imo, he is according to arsenal fans I know, the greatest footballing prospect on earth, now I do watch a lot of german football and spanish football etc. I watch dortmund on a regular basis and for me mario gotze and iker gundogan are much better players also isco of real madrid, whenever I have watched arsenal he is always that player who when arsenal win the ball he is the player who will attempt to create something only to give it away and then he will run back and put in a stupid tackle and get booked, he was the same against us last season prancing around trying to get gibbo sent off, he was alright squaring up to pienaar but when he saw someone bigger than him tackle him he sh*t one and thought nah I will stay on the ground and get him booked, he is like a little worm, I am going to get slaughtered for this but it is just my opinion he also seems very arrogant and cocky

Mike-Ox Long {Ed025's Note - we will have to agree to disagree on this one mike..

Im with you mike, over hyped, over rated imo .That's the southern press for you mate.

Toon fan here in peace.

Fantastic game, it's always a good game with this fixture.
Half time you should of been winning 6 or 7-0 we were so bad it was unbelievable. Second half we looked a lot better but to be honest it didn't match the potential that Newcastle can play to. At the end of the day we deserved to lose. Little kid crying summed it up. Just a shame the once great club I support shows first halfs like last night and is run by a bunch of clowns, who have no pride.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers mate and good luck for the future . tp.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers mate, I must admit I did feel sorry for the kid who was in tears, especially being shown live on national tv, he'll be getting some stick in school today. You have to many good players to get in serious trouble, just a shame your manager's a complete tit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stating the obvious but you started the game with 11 foreigners. Need a few geordies in the team to give you some team spirit and passion.

Cheers mate and good luck to you guys too, I think Alastair has hit the nail on the head, you have some cracking players but you need someone who plays for the Geordie shirt, looking around the prem there is a severe shortage of North East talent at the minute mate

Great result, but two things now occur to me about our next fixture:
(1) ManCity cannot possibly be as poor as the barcodes were in the first half tonight; and
(2) ManCity will surely create plenty of goal scoring chances if they have the possession that the barcodes had in the second half tonight.
RM needs to do a tactical job on ManCity just like he did in the cup final. Otherwise I fear that our unbeaten league run will be well and truly ended. On the other hand who knows?

What is great is how good the bench looked tonight, who would have thought jelavic would be on the bench this time last year. Imagine Honda arriving in jan which I hear is a real possibility from a reliable source, Whether we can maintain this will be more apparent after Saturday but just think what it would feel like to bag a win on Saturday. I was a nervous blue during the summer. I have missed feeling like this for a very long time. Blue Ben

Howard and distin are good at some things but look like they'll concede at least one goal per game through doing something stupid

Howard was too far off his line for the first and him and distin always hesitate together at critical moments when in danger

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Which game you watchin.distan cleared more balls out of our centre halfs.saw more of him than jags 2nite

Agree0 Disagree0

Howard could of done f all about that goal wherever he was standing and distin is a good a CB as anyone

At half time I thought this team can win the title, second half shows work to be done but I'm still a happy bunny.
Coleman outstanding and for me Barry is developing as a modern 'Peter Reid'.
The Preditor was brilliant and has many goals in him but last twenty minutes showed he is still young and needs a bit of advice from Dunc about holding the ball up more.
Jags needs to check his studs as appeared to spend key moments on his ar*e and agree Bainsey was a bit 'off it' tonight.
At times we looked like Barca-that's enough for me in these early days.
Barkley will be key player in England's World Cup next summer, total class!
