Let's be honest here. Everton only upped their game after Rodwell was sent off. Before that, it was a nothing game! One good chance each (Suarez & Cahill). The fans inspired the players to dig in & battle, which they did in the main. The reality is, on another day Liverpool could have had 5 easily! 2 goals, missed pen, hit post, hit bar, Suarez easy header into keepers arms. The refs are awful, but we've suffered more than most already this season with goals disallowed etc, so i'm not going to complain if we get the benifit of a dodgy decision & neither would Everton.

After the suarez header was saved everton went straight up the other end and forced a save from reina, saha had a shot that just went wide then rodwell was sent off! All the liverpool chances your on about happened after the sending off! Would liverpool of been in them positions if we had 11 men on the field? No i dont think they would of! But if you want to get in to that then what about the cahill and drenthe shots that were straight at reina! Either side of him they were goals! Drenth could of got a peno, saha fired another shot just wide! On another we coud of scored 4 or 5! But the fact that the ref messed up and sent rodders means we will never know!

Dont forget big Distin taking the mick out of 2 defenders and smashing one over aswell before the red.
We had 4 good chances to there one before the ref took centre stage and grabbed the headlines, what a weak referee

I am still flabergasted by the performance of this so called premier league referee, This referee has alrerady sent 7 players off this season and were only 6/7 games in, That tackle today did not even warrant a yellow card and completely ruined what looked like a promising game, I have never been bitter and twisted regarding referee decisions but that decision today is one of the worst decisions i have ever seen, who knows what might have happened, I know half the problem is with cheating players as they really dont make it easy for referees and that was the same today with suarez's antics, nothing short of a disgrace however if we had technology then this will be eradicated once and for all, I am not one of the se believers of " oh decisions even themselves out over the course of a season"..absolute rubbish.....Football is massive and can cost clubs dearly, These cheats are never gonna stop without the technology, that would of took 30 seconds today to say that a red card was a complete nonsense of a decision..all this said their is a standard in any profession and if your not up to the plate to do your job correctly then you collect your p45 and that is what should happen to that pathetic referee atkinson, he is a joke and cost everton the match today..rant over

Suarez was a disgrace what a cheat. Mind you he has had a good teacher in Dalglish he used to do it all the time as a player.

Agree2 Disagree6

And obviously no other players, including Everton's ever behave like this.

Care to comment too on the disgraceful challenge by Hibbert on Adam?

Agree6 Disagree1

Suarez has always had a reputation as a diver, he is disgraceful

Agree2 Disagree4

No wonder liverfool won,they had 12 men and diver suarez

Agree1 Disagree3

Not a Red but if you tackle win the ball, catch the man (which he did!), its a FOUL! ITS CALLED THE RULES OF FOOTBALL.

Agree2 Disagree2

Hibberts tackle on Adam was a bit er enthusiastic but no more reckless than Gerrard has committed and got away with in the past

Got to say was proud of the lads today. The ref should be suspended he was an absolute disgrace. Really felt for young Jack super tackle in which Saurez antics swayed the ref to send him off it was not even a foul. The lads dug deep but on a hot day just tired towards the end. I am convinced had we had all 11 players we would have won that game at a canter. The ref should be demoted as he has handed out more red cards than any other ref this season he has sent 7 players off this season. Felt Rodwell was having a real good game up to that point. A shambolic ref should not be in charge of the most highly charged derby in the country. Anyway the lads done great but was to much to expect 10 to beat 12. For me Saurez should have being booked for play acting and trying to get fellow pros sent off and to get man of the match was a disgraceful decision by big nosed Smith. Well done lads cant beat a cheating ref. COYB. Dero.

Bad Ref, never a red card. but fans throwing things at players on live TV shows the world how classy everton fans really are!

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Don't tar everyone with the same brush, its totally out of order and should not have happened, remember people in glass houses should not throw stones, look at when lescott got punched at anfield when taking a throw in.

Agree1 Disagree2

Unconfirmed reports suggest Bill Kenwright was on his hands and picking up all of the coins thrown at Craig Bellamy.

Agree4 Disagree1

Totally agree cant tar all fans with the same brush! Breaking news! Kenny has signed atkinson for 50 mill on a 5 year contract!

Agree5 Disagree1

Not justifying the everton fans throwing stuff, but if that 1st comment is from a liverpool fan, which i presume it is, then i seem to remember a mobile phone getting thrown from the kop at rooney ?

Agree4 Disagree1

The moblie phone was from an OAP, he'd left it in her house the night before. She was just returning it.

martin atkinson-2 everton-0

i totally blame the ref for the defeat today, things were pretty even before the sending off but we looked more of a threat than they did! then a brilliant rodwell tackle and some play acting from suarez got him sent off DISGUSTING!!! even with 10 men there were times we looked like scoring, kept the ball well when we had it, the lads played brilliantly today i am very proud of the performance we put in and im also happy with moyes team selection it was very positive we went down to 10 and moyes was still attacking with drenthe and vellious coming on and experience with neville, well done moyes!! hope the result doesnt make you revert back to defending we look good great going forward and need to keep it up!

liverpool fans will be giving it all the chirp but im sure they know how lucky they were today! they also should be worried they are not looking good considering they spent 100 million it was the ref that won the game today and not the millions of pounds of talent !they will not finish top 5!

i really think with 11 men on the field we would of won that! even though the ref beat us today i am still very optimistic about our season even more so after watching todays game!

i think we should appeal the red card as i cant see it being upheld, so im confident rodwell will be availiable for the chelsea match, the only change i would make is to swap osman with drenthe!

you happy with todays performance ed? does it give you hope for the season? it certainly does me? coyb!!! {Ed001's Note - do you not think that Cahill should have been sent off?}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Yeh he maybe should of been but tht pssage of play wouldnt of existed if atkinson didnt send rodders off :-). {Ed001's Note - very true, I was just pointing out that he is just a terrible ref rather than biased to be honest. It amazes me that he is still refereeing in the Premier League.}

Agree1 Disagree1

No Ed Cahill should not have being sent barely caught Adams and it was foot on foot and yellow was correct. Worst tackle of the game was Lucas on Saha which he correctly got a yellow. Best tackle of the game was Jack on the play acting Saurez. Look at Cahills tackle again in slow motion it was not that bad looked worst at full speed. {Ed001's Note - sorry but I disagree, it was a sending off according to the rules. Perhaps you should read them because then you will realise that you don't even have to connect with the player, let alone 'barely' catch them, to get a red.}

Agree3 Disagree1

No Ed surprised you usually know your stuff but Cahill should not have been sent off seen it a few times both feet were high but it was not studs showing it was side foot on side foot and Cahill was a split second late so I do know the rules it seems you dont or you have not seen it correctly but if you reply to this, then watch it again before making rash decision as Mr Athkinson did today. There was no tackles that warranted a red card today from either side least of all Jack Rodwell but this is about opinions and we can agree to disagree. {Ed025's Note - i agree with you mate..i have seen it a number of times, and for me it was the one thing the ref got right!...yesterday really annoyed me!, the prat will , i expect, hold up his hands and say that he got it wrong, and the red card will be rescinded ...but who is going to give us back the 3 points that he cost us?, for gods sake, ..
