I recon. buy Fellaini £15m and Lukaku £20m (room for haggling), but in total £35m.budget spent: first team squad expanded. We don't need backup with all our youngsters coming through.and with this Taoure Monaco geezer loaning I think we'll easily progress in Europa Cup and League. What do you all think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i would not pay 15p for the wig BB..

01 Jul 2014 23:38:33
what would be the point in buying fellaini back?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a hair transplant donor for tim howard?..

Those cobwebs aren't going to sweep themselves, you know.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your not fellaini are you belgiumblue. Trying to engineer a move back because the grass wasnt greener. If your not then its simple, you don't suit EFC's brand of football.

just been on our official site and to seen tony hibbert been given a new 2 year contract. why on earth this is happening I do not know.he played a handful off games last season. he is bang average at best. just happy to sit on the bench and take the money. no doubt I will be told about the europa league games he is going to play and the capital one cup. everton imo do not know when to say thank you very much but now it is time to move on. we always seem to hold onto players year or 2 too long. despite being a good servant I believe young blood should be given an opportunity instead of veterans like tony hibbert

I disagree. RM is on record that Hibbo brings a lot to the club even if he's not playing regularly in the first team. There's no way imho that Hibbo just wants to "sit on the bench and take the money" - he seems a much more honest and down-to-earth bloke than that. Besides, he'll surely be a good role-model for those youngsters coming through over the next couple of years. I respect every poster's right to express their opinion, but I trust RM to know what's best for our club.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's why your not a manger! We need depth and experience! So having Hibbert availiable is not a bad shout! Youngster will still get a go but like I said experience is key

Agree0 Disagree0

NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM. I don't need to say any more.

Agree0 Disagree0

And who knows what is actually the best for Everton? I suggest that RM does rather than most fans. :-)

We are everton. We are supposed to look after our players. Hibbert has been an excellent servant to the club so how would it be fair to simply discard him in the twilight of his career. If someone wants to dedicate the end of his career to us, we should be thankful that we mean so much to him. Also he will not be on a massive amount, relatively of course, and I think he has a place in our club after his playing days are done. Overall, good news in my opinion (alongside the other contact extensions), now to push on in the transfer front.

Why discard a loyal, home-grown player? TH has been a great servant to our club and deserves his new deal. He is needed, whether you like it or not, as we will have more games next season. We don't have a great deal of right backs at the club. Jags and Stones are more effective in the middle, Browning may get the odd game. TH has the experience to fill in for Coleman, albeit he won't be flying down the wing. He is a better defender than you are giving him credit for. As others have said, there is a role at the club for him after he hangs up his boots so let him have his swansong and end his playing days with us. In modern football, staying with one club is quite rare. Maybe not the most talented we have ever seen, but he certainly gives his all when called upon.

Remember we have a home grown quota to fill the likes of Hibbert and osman still bring something to the table and fill two of those home grown spots. So good business in my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

So pleased to see our fans come out and defend one of their own

Hibbert is everton. Everton is hibbert

Agree0 Disagree0

Only just realized but most people on this site look through blue tinted specks. I think if everton announced duncan ferguson was returning as a player most would wet there trousers with excitement.you have to move forward to progress. I will still stand by my post on hibbo.

How many more reasons do you need? He's homegrown, is more than capable of filling in when/if injuries/suspensions hit Seamus. We play more games next season, twice a week. He knows the club inside out, can help nurture the likes of Browning to eventually succeed him and will be a big voice, and help, in the dressing room. No glasses needed mate, all of the above is a better reason than 'he's too old' that you seem hell bent on telling us. As for Dunc, bit of a silly comment really

Seamus Coleman-from kellybegs to Everton, type this in to YouTube and there is a great little video about seamus, just stumbled across it and thought I'd share!

Seen a few papers, channels/websites (ssn) and writers saying Everton are odds-on to sign highly rated defender Steven Caulker, and a deal could be agreed as early as next week in the regions of £8-10million. personally I believe this would be a great deal as gives him and Stones times to familiarise themselves and establish themselves together at the heart of the school of science

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's all speculation - instigated by some "interested" party no doubt (!) - but sometimes there's a kernel of truth in some stories.
I'm also thinking that Stones and Caulker could become the future England centre-back pairing.
If RM tries a three-at-the-back formation, I wonder who'd be the third centre back - Browning (if he develops) or perhaps Rodwell (if he returns to us). Any views out there?

Garbutt or Broaning I'd say to join as three in back

.we've opened talks with Torino about signing 'Cerci' apparently, he's rated at 16 million but with 1 year left we are looking to agree a lower fee.personal terms already agreed according to Italian sources. would be a great signing if true, the player is class & would certainly be more effective than Delefeo was during the course of last season. if we do sign him, I don't reckon we'll be getting Tello. but I'll take either! :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No reason why we won't go for Tello if we are interested in him. Europa league will take its toll, so the more players the better

If I was 34 next birthday, had been offered a three year contract on £60,000 per week, by one of the top clubs in the prem, I too would need time to think about it, ABOUT 10 SECONDS, and then bit your hand of to get at a pen. Just a thought.

01 Jul 2014 20:21:00
Well said JCW, although I'm not quite sure why it would take you all of ten seconds 😉

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree JCW and said much the same thing last week. If GB is stalling waiting for a better offer elsewhere, we should bin him and look towards other targets. By this stage he should know where he wants to be playing next season and Everton have made an extremely good offer towards him personally and if we will have to pay a further 2.5m to MCFC (as was apparently agreed as part of the loan deal last summer) this could go towards a transfer fee.
I'd like to see the club set him a deadline date to sign. If he's not interested and still wants further time, then we pull out altogether.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said this has been a problem for years we don't know when to tell players were to go.or when to let them go.we keep some of our players 1 or 2 years to long.when the sell by date has expired.

Much as I respect other posters' right to express their views, I sure am glad that BK, RM and others at our club are handling transfer negotiations and not some of our impatient fans. I'm just as anxious to see deals done, but I accept that modern-day deals can be very complex with financial, legal, etc., aspects being things that have to be handled properly. A deal isn't done in isolation - it has to be processed in the context of financial fair play (i.e. nett spending, allowable wage bill increases, squad sizes, etc.).
I get it that you or I would surely not hesitate in signing for our club (irrespective of the massive money being offered), but what do we really know about what has to be contractually agreed between club and player?
Just because it's taking time doesn't mean that we should petulantly (harsh word I know) throw a wobbly and say "it's my ball and I'm going home"!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats a very fair point sid, so many people are involved, from agent to lawyers, players and managers, the finance people, chairmen, the players family...and uncle tom cobley and all..

02 Jul 2014 03:50:02
GB could just be waiting to sit down with RM which he can't do till Bobby gets back from Brazil so have a little patience everything will be fine :)

Is it me or should bobby be back here now sorting the squad out for the new season instead of being a pundit on the other side of the world. Thoughts ed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he is there to assess players and make contact with agents and players tony, the punditry is just a sideline mate..

I still think Tony has a point. Now that the window has officially opened, I would rather see Roberto at Finch Farm working on transfer deals on this side of the Atlantic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you really believe that RM is the only one at Everton involved in transfer negotiations? Surely he's just one - admittedly the most important one- who's involved. Bill Kenwright, Robert Elstone, the club's accountancy and legal advisers must all be involved in the negotiations. The idea that RM can't do his bit away from Finch Farm in this day-and-age of modern communications seems inconceivable to me. Besides, he's surely in the company of lots of other managers, agents, etc., while he's at the World Cup and could be dealing with them face-to-face. But, hey, what do I know - I'm just a fan, not a professional football person. By the way, I did mean person, not what the Eds mean by "person" ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2014 23:52:43
I think I'd rather have him at the world cup, networking or whatever you want to call it. As Sid says, he is face to face with agents and players. There will be others back here doing the ground work and RM is only a video conference away. This shouldn't be a major issue

There'll be a snippet - that might just have a hint of some inside info - to begin with somewhere in the media and that is then repeated by lazy, uninformed journos in the rest of the media. Anyone - an agent, the player, the club, a mischief-maker - could plant the story (and keep it going) for whatever reason.
Then another journo - who might have some genuine info and isn't just repeating other stories - will put something out to counter the original story. That in turn gets repeated. That's especially so on the Internet by those sites that trawl for stories and list them all. It then looks like there are many stories about the issue, but in reality it's just the same original story being regurgitated and recycled. It's all about getting punters like us to buy newspapers and visit websites and that let's them earn money through the advertising they have. While we all crave the gossip - which we obviously do - it'll be a self-perpetuating cycle of story and country-story. I'm not complaining - how could I, since I visit this website - but I take all of the stories with a large dose of salt until something is officially announced on the club website. Until then, I just try to enjoy the speculation and the craic and not get too wound up. Being an Everton supporter for over fifty years, I've long had the wide-eyed youthful innocence worn down!
