Dowell to Forest, think its a good move for him. Will be able to see if he is up to it as a proper player for future.

Just want to wish Kieran Dowell good luck with his season long loan at Nottingham forest, going to be a future star at Everton was hoping to see him on the fringes of the first team this season, but I hope with regular first team action he will get better and come back next season and kick on pushing for a starting place.

Agree lee, sorry to see him go but a regular starting role will be good for him in the future.

Great article on the BBC football page about how clubs monitor players tweets and social media etc. when considering potential targets; certainly gave me food for thought.

Right up to the point where it quotes Famien Comolli and you reflect on some of the signings he has overseen.

I think what we need to remember is the team we are building 'right now' unfortunately won't obviously win us the league. In my opinion, what this build is meant to do is obviously (hopefully) improve us as a team and as a squad and get us closer or amongst the top 6. I think so far our buys have done a good job in doing that (without a ball being kicked yet) . But, for arguments sake, if we sign Giroud for approx 30m and we get amongst the big boys, is he still going to be our Champions League striker or do we improve. What I think I am saying is these 'older' targets for big money are they a one season panic buy or for the long term. At 30, and for 30m, is he going to be for the next 3 years, a 30m sub next year or sell next year for a lot less than 30m? (All providing we push on as a team/ squad/ club again next season) . Sorry for the ramble, harder to write down what I'm trying to say haha.

Should EFC now ban the Liverpool Echo
from Goodison and Finch Farm?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

01 Aug 2017 20:52:50
Can I ask why this post re Echo has been written
I loathe the Red Echo and am constantly writing about them .
I never known a more biased paper .
I am suprised more people have not been more pro active about it .
They are biased beyond belief .
It's even has a red motif and they even put LFC posts on the EFC web page
Long gone are the days of Michael Charters
Anyone remember him?

It was concerning an article written about Liverpool’s pursuit of the Leipzig player and comparisons made in bad taste.

Where has all your positivity gone? You were going to win the league 3 weeks ago you were getting a new stadium you were signing the best players in Europe the way you were all talking. Has reality hit you all? Thought it might 😉.

be winning the league every year for the last 27yrs . Reality certainly hasn't hit you yet as it? Obviously not 🔔end.

It relates to McGoverns recent rants and the disgracful comparisons he makes. Nothing surprises me about this person.

As for the echo. It's a completely irrelevant paper unless you're starting a fire.

{Ed025's Note - i hate the echo john, but i played footy with derek many moons ago and he was actually a very nice guy..

Sorry but this latest offer will be turned down as well. It isn't and doesn't add up to their 50 mill valuation. It is the same offer as the second one but with the 'Loan' of a player valued at 5 mill, so 40 mill with 5 mill addons (already rejected) and we will lend you 5 mill.

Everton Season Review

01 Aug 2017 16:01:35
{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, Everton Season Review

Believable1 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2017 18:44:52
nice post ed bit harsh on some of the players but that's just my opinion.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I do tend to be harsh, I know that, but I would rather be underscoring than overscoring players. Some of them are really difficult to do as well. How on earth can you give a score to Lukaku for instance? He scored so many goals but let the team down in so many games as well.}

01 Aug 2017 18:46:35
Great review ed👍🏻.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

01 Aug 2017 19:33:54
You're right Ed it is tricky to score some of them. I will give you a 9.5 for the review. Great work keep it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, it was the most difficult one to do so far.}

01 Aug 2017 19:59:50

01 Aug 2017 20:03:09
Usual great article from Ed1, nice one mate, even for a Koppite 😊.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, that's why it was so hard doing an Everton one. Trying to be fair is difficult as you keep wondering if you are trying too hard to be fair and overdoing things.}

01 Aug 2017 20:22:36
I thought it was fair Ed. The success story of our season has to Ben the emergence of Tom Davies and that was reflected int he scoring. And the Robles one interested me too because you’re right it is easy to go by clean sheets as it is goals for Lukaku, but the performances often told a different story.

I was looking forward to this one coming out and found me agreeing with almost all of it. Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am glad, I took my time over it to make sure I wasn't overthinking things. I was taking a break between each player so I would see each one separately. It seems to work better that way as you are not comparing them to each other but just thinking about how they actually got on as individuals. It actually really interested me seeing the stats for Robles, having watched him play, they do not seem to stack up. It does make you doubt the evidence of your own eyes sometimes reading stats.}

01 Aug 2017 22:16:05
Hi Ed, that's a we'll thought out, fair and balanced assessment in my eyes. Thanks for the brutal honesty, I hope some of the players get to see some of your feedback, it may make them buck their ideas up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much. I am really pleased so many of you enjoyed this one.}

02 Aug 2017 13:59:43
That is a good read Ed001and even the most biased Evertonian would find it hard to argue your reasoning for the players ratings.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Joe. Maybe intel might disagree!}

I'm not sure Ross actually cares where he ends up or how much he is going to play. I suspect he is only interested in the pay check.

It's interesting that we are not only spending big on recruiting for the first-team squad, but we are also bringing younger players (at several millions apiece) into our U23 squad.
It also seems that we're starting to look at recruiting the best youth talent for the U18 (academy) setup.
Others have said that the U23 and U18 setups will have to become self-financing, which probably means that: (a) one or two players (like Tom Davies) will have to emerge every year or two who are good enough to become regulars for the Everton first-team and thereby save us having to spend on another big incoming transfer; and (b) the others who don't make it at Everton can still be moved on for reasonable transfer fees.
I'd imagine that we'd also see more of our young players being loaned out (like happens at Chelsea - but not the same vast number! ) as part of their development. If that experience eventually makes them Everton first-teamers that'd be great; if not at Everton, then the experience should make them attractive to other clubs and earn us a transfer fee.

my thoughts bobbyC is that when we move to our new stadium money will be tight (look at Arsenal and Spurs) so by bringing top quality in now to the u23s it hopefully means we won't struggle on the pitch when the time comes.

Bluey, spot on. That is Walsh, Koeman and Moshri sorting out the forward planning.

RK has said that he doesn't like a full squad of senior (that's 25 aged-over-21) players, as it's difficult to keep all of them "happy" by regular selection for matches.
He'd prefer to have a core (around 18 or 19 senior players) and then use the youngsters as and when necessary.
It's clear that RK/ SW are recruiting better quality for the starting XI and on the bench - while letting several players move on.
The squad rotation will be interesting this season, especially if we progress in the Europa League and in the domestic cups.

{Ed025's Note - chelse will im sure be interested in ross bretto but he would only be a bit part player for them and he seems to want more, im not sure that macca would be happy going to leicester though mate..

I can imagine McCarthy wanting to join Celtic, but I doubt they'd want to pay the £20M it'd take.

{Ed025's Note - im guessing dembele and give them £10m bobby?..
