Nice to read some sanity about the transfer window today. I have avoided all the tabloid and ssn made up rumours, just rely on this site and banter with a few mates.
There was never a cat in hells chance of the boards giving Martinez any big money after last season, though they can afford to. I wouldn't trust him with too much when his whole future depends on the first ten games. He's even said himself there would be a couple at the start of the window and a couple at the end. Holding on to the present squad to me would be better than new signings and will dictate any transfer activity.
On the positive side he is lucky that there are a few promising U 21's coming through. I reckon he feels Galloway is ready but unsure about Browning. I reckon he has also learned by having planned a better and more fixture filled pre season. I'm not bothered about the results. They are friendlies. No points at stake. Today's team was full of kids and fringe players and will be nothing like next weeks line up. He just needs to grasp the square pegs principle and I reckon we will be okay. We do badly need reinforcements where it really matters though in front of goal as Kone is weighing in with about the same goals per season ratio as our midfielders

Good read Tedster.

If he feels that Galloway and Browning can fill in at the back, then all I would like is a Kone replacement.

In the red are you crazy. We have sold everything we own, even the cutlery is rented. We earn the equivalent of the national debt even if we finish 17. Are you all crazy. We can afford to buy any player in the world under £60 million. With the stupid rules of financial FairPlay we can borrow on future earnings. So technically we can borrow £180 million. That's 3 times finishing 17th. And after this year the money is going up with the international TV earnings. I'm not sure but next year Everton will be in the top 10 richest clubs in the world. There is something else going on. Either we are putting all our eggs in one basket and they are working really hard to sign a marquee player a £30-£40 million pound player of we are saving for a new stadium. Or BK has final found a buyer and taking out all that he is owed. But I don't think that has happened. I think it is the first. Fingers crossed

I fear for us mate really do even against newly promoted Watford.
1st 10 fixtures hard enough but with only 2 additions to the squad can't see much change spudv from last season.
U have a point don't think board trust Marmite man 2 splash the cash.
I suspect he'll b one of the early favourites for the sack I reckon as early as October.
Almost everyone has strengthened their squad so 11th last season wot this season 17th.
He's had plenty of experience with Wigan down lower reaches of premier league.

I was being kind when I said until xmas Jonsey, tough first ten games as you say so October could be more realistic!
It may look doom and gloom when others are buying players pretty early but I'd rather we improve our squad with additions instead of buying players in bulk. The biggest difference this season will be no euro league games, not having to fly to the far reaches of eastern Europe on a Thursday evening. Therefore, we should be able to cope with the demands of the prem in the same manner as we did in RM's first season in charge. I'm not for one minute suggesting we will finish as high as that year but I believe we have a squad good enough to compete for European places. We will add another one or two before the window shuts, cb and maybe a cf, to help cover the positions we have no depth in.

Has the transfer budget been blown on lukaku last season. doesn't seem to be any movement in the market or are we going to scramble round for free transfers & loanees on deadline day

Why would this seasons transfer budget be blown last season? Embarrassing how negative you are Jonsey, every other post I read from you is slating everything the club does. Would you prefer we go about our business via the press like Chelsea? It's better to do things in the background, rather than announce our every intention through the media. I do believe, however, that the board will limit the funds given to RM due to the season we had last year. If he gets us off to a bad start then I don't expect him to last until Christmas. We haven't got the cash to spend big now with RM and in January with, possibly, a new manager in place. I personally wouldn't trust RM to spend, for example, 30m this window.

. l see we've just lost badly to Leeds Utd 2-0. & the commentator mentioned when Barkley was subbed late on in the second half he had looked completely disinterested all game. for me, there is a definite difference in the apparent non-motivation of our players under this current Martinez regime.too many times this has happened for my liking now & involving too many players.at least under Moyes the commitment & effort was there at all times as that was what he demanded. Bobbys to wet & soft for my liking, needs to sort it. Kone was crap again apparently - if he can't see we need a new backup striker to Rom then he needs to go to Specssavers & a mental institute, that guy was the worst waste of £6 million ever spent in football history!

A week before the season starts its unlikely you'll see fully committed performances as players don't want unnecessary injuries this close to KO.
I get a feeling it will be a slightly different approach for the big mans testimonial!

. let's hope so.& more importantly next season, looking at our first 10 fixtures there will need to be a massive improvement on last season or else Bobby will be in for the chop. come to think of it, maybe that's why the board aren't letting him spend much money right now or is that just wishful thinking on my part?!?

average player who struggles to start for an average side in West Ham. Our strongest position is CM/CDM with Barry, McCarthy, Besic, Gibson, Cleverley, Ledson.

Would be a waste of wages.

.really think we should go for Shaquiri.top top player on his day & at the 12 million being quoted is a bargain in today's inflated values.Shaquiri, Sergi Roberto & Van Dijk & Pato would make me a lot happier by the end of the window!

Looking at some other sites it would seem that most Evertonians hate the new 3rd kit. Personally I like it but hope the material is better than the home kit. Do the boys & girls here love or loath it?

Everton fans don't moan every year cause there club doesn't spend millions, I have stayed positive for years and so have 90 percent of Evertonians when our club was handing Moyes scraps from the dinner plate. Our negativity is brought on us by the club when Moyes left they sat Martinez down in front of the world and banged on about getting top 4 and that's our ambition that's where a club like Everton should be talking about winning trophies again telling us that we are in a good financial state and yes Martinez still says that's his target. Now the doom and gloom comes from an eleventh place finish last year which shows we are nowhere near top 4 but yet haven't spend a dime to try and improve the squad that's what is upsetting fans we can all see we are not good enough but the board and Martinez see otherwise. We have one of the richest boards in the land but yet they won't invest in us but expect other people to wake up is what I say we will never achieve anything under this current regime.

If chelsea offer anything between 30-35 million I can't see stones being an everton player. even if he wans to stay, at the end of the day we are a selling club. hope I eat my words but that's my opinion. Anyone agree?
