Hi fellow blues, not really a rumour just a thought on who i think we may sign or should sign before the end of the window. 2 or 3 of the following:
Sergio Canales - Loan (i know Moyes was interested a while back, not playing at Madrid. Also a good young prospect in the Arteta mould.)
Michael Owen - Free (personally not a player i want, but i can just see it happening given our current financial status.)
Oscar Cardozo - Loan (only way i can see this coming off is in a loan deal, though i'm sure Benfica won't be too keen. Would love to see him in a blue shirt though.)
Winnie Parks - (just kidding.)
Miguel - Free? (heard this guy is available on a free, he is a right wing back, Portuguese international, good experience.)
Either way i can see us maybe getting 1 or 2 loans and a freebie. You heard anything ed?
Martin {Ed025's Note - the only one of them that is relistic is owen, marty..

Cant see us getting a loan player from one of the top sides (eg. johnson from city...or one of the chelsea squad) because they will have all noted the form book from the year 2012 and Everton wil be viewed as serious competition....no one of the top 5 will want to make us even stronger by lending us a decent player. I have more faith in Moyse unearthing a gem we havent seen on the radar

As far as I can make out, he is contracted to them until 2014, but with them being in real financial difficulties, he along with other players have not been paid for quite a while. It seems his agent was in talks to try and get his contract terminated if he wasn't paid, no idea how that has turned out though.

Hiya lads and ed's! Not posted for a while, really happy that we have done business early for once.
Naismith and Pienaar are quality signings for any team and will make a huge difference to us in my opinion.
I think if we are too make anymore signings it's going to be if we sell someone so IF we sell someone which at the moment if you believe everything you hear it could well be Heitinga who would people like to see? I would love Donovan personally but can't see it happening! So realistically we probably need a back up striker to Jelavic or a proper right winger.
What's do people think? or do you not want to see Heitinga go, and we just settle with the squad we have? Would still be good enough for top 6 either way in my opinion.
Looking forward to the new season, hopefully we can start well for the first time in 3 seasons, the last time we started well we finished 5th and got to the FA Cup final and the season before we finished 5th and got to the semi's of the Carling Cup!

just for fun guys based on last season what would your mersyside 11 mine would be
GK Howard: more concistent than reina last year
RB Hibbert: Johnson was poor and didnt play enough games never mind do anything so hibbo for his defensive and was better in attack last year.
CB Heitinga: was outstanding last year absolute rock at the back no doubt in his inclusion.
CB Skrtel: really tough one between him and Agger but Skrtel was very good last year.
LB Baines: no explanation ...
CM Lucas: until he got injured the guy was top class
CM Fellaini: one of the best midfielders in the prem Gibson narrowly misses out because of Lucas's form and no Gerrard because he was utter s***e last year apart from against us and he only started something like 16 games.
RM Ossie: realisticly cant give it to henderson or Downing so ossie it is.
LM: Who else but our own Stevie P the guys better than anything theve got.
ST: Suarez as much as i hate the book tooth ugly racist cheating b****** no doubting his ability and the season he had so suarez is upfront to partner the obvious...........
ST Jellyman: great signing lets just hope he can have a great second season we dont want another Yak who had one good season then was just different ( yes he was injured but wasnt the same) nikki finishes the line up with 3 Liverpool players and 8 Toffees if you wish to make changes knock your selves out Joey EFC {Ed024's Note - Looks good to me Joe

Paper talk of fernandes to the sh*te for 7 mil....hmmmm
News reported he had his contract ripped up for wages not being paid, so don't know we're 7 mil has come from!
But I really would not want to see him in that sh*te team, this guy is now a class player, I really would like him back at everton, I've said this many times, with him back my starting 11 would be;
Howard
Hibbert/nevile (1 of the 2)
Heighty/dist/jags (2 of the 3)
Baines
Pienaar LM
fernandes and Gibson
Felli
Naigsmith
Jelly
To me that is a team, any one in doubt how good fernandes has become should have a little nose at YouTube or the mirror has a article about him with video attached, he would finish that team off.
Rodwell, Barkley and the rest from the bench, and when needed!

would love to see one more permanent signing and maybe a loan/free before the end of the window and nobody leaving. however i would be more than happy if the window shut now with pienaar and naismith added. keep the squad fit and happy and this could be a return to europe. maybe a top 4 fnish is optimistic but europa league for a season or 2 to raise funds for one or two additions next year and then a real push to push the top 4. fingers crossed that we keep the squad, i think we will. would also to give vic another year just to see what he can do if he keeps himself fit. if he doesnt do well or stay fit, off load him next year. Drenthe a talent with a brain the size of a pea! We in the loan market due to insufficient funds. With our solvency secure due to arteta and cahill and yobo large salaries we may go for a marquee loan. Perhaps adam johnson or as i previously posted a player not mentioned on these pages. Increased sky revenue helps us keep prized assets. Spurs got adebayor on loan got 4th place. We shud look to compete this or next season. Paul c

Drenthe was probably the reason we lost the semi final - no wingers of any note in that team - it was going to be a tough match anyway without pienaar but for drenthe to screw up and go awol or whatever that week and leave us short for the semi was disgraceful - for that he is very very "unforgiven" as they say on radio 2

That is a good point, Rodders would be a class act at CB but don't forget Duffy, he is starting to look the part too.

Agree0

Sorry everyone but I'm still not taken on Rodwell. I know he's has his injuries and hasn't got up to full speed, but even with that in mind, I still don't see it I'm sad to say.
I will get behind anyone who puts on the Blue shirt but maybe I'm not seeing what other people see when it comes to Rodders.
Maybe he would be better at CB because that was his original position, but if he just watches the ball go past him like he does in midfield then I would be a little wary of that too.
Wizard of Osman {Ed024's Note - We all have different opinions Wiz, I would like to see him have a good injury free run to actually see if he has the potential though

I think rodwell could be a better centre back as i think he not only lacks the pace to be a world class cm, but also that little bit of something that fellaini has got. now i am not comparing rodwell to fellaini but when you compare rodwell to other cm's such as fellaini and his power, modric with his skill, carrick with his passing, rodwell has no real outstanding quality, other than wearing the blue shirt of course. but agreeing with ed also i would like to see another full injury free year for rodwell. coyb

You have to laugh at some posts. The minute we sign Pienaar everyone starts talking about selling our youngsters.
Too many complaints about pienaar being 30 but then people are talking about selling Rodders and Barkley in case they don't turn out the way Rooney did.
These players are not on huge wages so we are in no rush to sell. We are developing them to be future greats for this club. We don't want another situation like Jags where we didn't show patients as a club and got rid only to buy him back at a premium. And what's he worth now?
It looks like we might not have to sell this summer probably due to the extra tv revenue we will get at the end of the season. So let's welcome the new signings and look forward to the start of the new season and use our optimism to get behind the team Ross and Jack included
