Just been on a leading stats website (WhoScored (not sure if ed's post the names of sites etc.)) and looked at the average match ratings for players in the Championship to have a look at who the best players are down there, and who else is top of the rankings but Shane Duffy.

I was inexplicably slated for posting a load of information about how impressive his stats were earlier in the season, hoping to cheer a few people up, but this rating isn't based off stats, it's based off overall performance, and his have been the best of all 343 players in the Championship (and it's not even that close). Surely you can't be unhappy about that? and perhaps we needn't splash out too much cash on a replacement for Distin with him and Stones coming through.

Can't wait to see those Red defenders trying to hold Traore down! Watch them ref!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even if he does sign soon, unlikely to be fit to play against the Red S**m. The real reason West Ham pulled out of the deal for Traore is because he is not going to be fit for a few weeks and they need a striker now.

As good as all these loan signings are, is there going to be any permanents? That will bolster our starting 11?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As ed 25 said loan signings for this season, bobby has plans in the summer and hopefully more cash, some gems to be seen in World Cup and are youngsters I think will burst into the prem. can't wait

I posted the other day about the traore rumour and I said it was BS, well looks like I was wrong so sorry! He looks pretty good I just hope we resist the temptation to just play long balls all the time! I'm sure Roberto wouldn't want that either! I will support the guy for aslong as he is here! But hope we get another permanent signing before window closes though! Do you think we will ed!? Thankyou

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think there is a good chance si..

19 Jan 2014 20:29:13
How are Southampton getting bought and turned into the richest club in the prem when we have been "looking" for the last 5 years for a new owner. The bid is believed to be 185 mill which would definitely buy us, and ino we would need a new stadium but we should look into redeveloping Goodison into a 50-55 thousand seater which would surely cost considerably less .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jan 2014 20:55:37
Wont be richest club Lew, google city owners family wealth mate, apparently their companies made 48 billion last year according to newspaper article a while back, that's nearly a billion a week, ridiculous amount of money, to think as well they nearly bought us lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares what Southampton are doing? We are Everton and we are doing just fine thank you very much

Traore and lukaku, barkley just behind, if that system worked. Oh my

Believable0 Unbelievable0

. & delefeo & mirallas down the wings wiv Coleman & baines behind them.sounds awesome to me. :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - sounds like a fantasy football side to me zacki.. :)

And whose gunna explain to Barry or McCarthy why they've been dropped? We are a 1 up front team with a lethal trio behind. We can always bring another on during the game but I'm not expecting to see Roberto start with 2 up front just because we have signed a short term replacement for Jelavic.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see Roberto changing anything in the defensive midfield roles Oli. I'd like to see the new Gentle Giant alongside Romelu with either Kevin Miralles or Steven Pienaar dropping out. Neither of these have been consistent this season and competition for places is what we need when everyone returns from injury.

Lordy Lord this Traoré guys massive! At 6'8 he makes 'Big Dunc' look like a Munchkin!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Big Dunc would still ave him though Mush lol

No Waitrose in Southport. Formby maybe favourite haunt of Bainsy

Apologies Jonno yes Formby is the place!

Shame on our driver taking our new acquisition to Tesco's, he should have set the Sat Nav to Waitrose in Southport. The organic/ethically sourced sandwiches are absolutely scrummy!
(I do hope we don't lose out on him due to this issue).
PS: Their mushy peas are nice too.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No Waitrose in Southport maybe Formby the fave place of Bainsey and Mr Parrot!

Does anyone know what the latest news is concerning Deulofeu's injury? I've heard from some people that he participated with the squad in Tenerife for the warm weather training. What a bonus it would be to have Gerry back for the derby.

I haven't got anything against Everton they're a fine traditional club. But, I think it's wrong that a premiership club, and one of Evertons size, have soo many loan players
Why? What do you with all your money from being in the Epl and from transfer fees? I think it's wrong.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know we are desperate to buy the players for fun and operate on losses every year, the loan system is there for a reason

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jan 2014 17:10:30
I haven't a problem with spurs fans, but I find it rude when they spout rubbish about our club on Our page. I don't suppose you find it wrong when a sugar daddy buys a prem club and inherits upwards of 300mill on a team only to be able to attempt to compete with efc because your club is full of players concerned with their bank balance rather than the teams performance? Lol

Agree0 Disagree0

The loan system is there to be utilised by clubs in order for players to either get game time and bed in before signing permanently or to aid in there professional progression, and sometimes it works out better doing this financially then spending over 100 million on overpriced overhyped players that don't bed in and cost managers there jobs

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we don't want to spend 100 million to finish 5th above the RS. Worry about your own club. If our loan players get us into the top 4 we will spend. Till then we do what we want.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see why so many people have a problem with us loaning players, its not like we are breaking any rules every club has the choice whether to loan players or not. Unfortunately we didn't have 80m+ for new players in the summer like spurs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a spurs fan but I don't have any issues with the way Everton go about there squad. The rules are there for a reason, you may as well utilise them. Every year people say 'they'll be stuffed when there loan signings go back' but you still manage to keep consistent and improve. Fair play to ya

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jan 2014 17:57:09
Because we can, don't like it? Go an spend a few hundred more quid on flops, we are still a bigger club, have a nice day

Agree0 Disagree0

So to OP. If spurs were interested in Gareth Barry, you would prefer to pay a fee now for him. We have him on loan and as far as I can gather, hope to sign him for free in the summer. Unfortunately we cannot spend 80 million on 6 midfielders like you can.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spud head, would you say the same if you loaned G Bale back until the end of the season? NO you wouldnt.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't believe how defensive some of you are, and bitter. I think its embarrassing that you have four loan players and yet one you comment that your a bigger club, which you certainly are not. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we are a MILES bigger club mate!...have a look at the history books, also its not embarrassing to loan players, as try before you buy is the way forward these days. i like spurs, i really do, but you must realize your place my friend good luck..

Btw what a stupid comment about Bale, there is no chance and yes I would like it buy that's one player and not one sixth of your first team squad. Anyway like I said I think your a fine club so keep it up, you could get europa league, that would be nice for you.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we are looking a bit higher spurski, and your recent history tells me that it will be between us and liverpool who will vie for 4th, as the spurs usually crumble like the walls of jericho when the pressure is on at the end mate..but good luck..

19 Jan 2014 20:38:48
Youre calling us defensive yet you say good luck for the rest of the season and come back to have another go, we are defending our club, barry is practically our player, doofy loofy isn't a regular and lukaku has scored on in seven, think you should get off the computer and have a nap mate, better fans (went to white hart lane last year when we drew 2-2 and youse never uttered a word, youse sang oh when the spurs go marching in for about 20 seconds after each goal and that was it, quiet as hell), better manager (sherwood will end up like di matteo, isn't the chairmans choice), better team (would I swap dawson for jags or distin? No, best two full backs in the league, barry, barkley and mccarthy are better than capoue, paulinho and whose the other one? Eriksen? Ajax's second best youngster? Whuppy doo, mirallas and deulofeu or chadli and erik flop lamela? The answers very clear, jog on), better youth (benaleb got rejected by over six teams, guess he is sherwoods play thing?), better history and let's face it you can't compete with the school of science, everton aren't we?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you have to sign in mate, or good posts will get deleted

19 Jan 2014 20:44:43
It was me ed, keep clicking the 'remember me' box and google keeps deleting saved passwords for some reason, I will double check from now on mate

Agree0 Disagree0

We are a bigger club. Everton have won the same number of league titles as spurs, chelski and Man City put together. Think you need to check your history.
Re loan players. We're not breaking any rules, just jealousy I think as you spent £100m on crap with most probably being shifted at a loss at the end of the season.
For minimal outlay we're competing for top 4, I'd say Martinez has done a great job against an uneven playing field. You're coming across as the bitter one due to our league position. If we were in the lower half we wouldn't have heard a peep out of you.

Agree0 Disagree0

Zzzzzzzzz what a turgid original post. More brains in plankton. How's the view from your £100m glass house?

Lacina Traore to undergo medical at Everton and sign shortly, according to ssn.

Still think this is a bad idea, unless we get another striker on a permanent deal in this window, too. West Brom are a perfect example of the dangers of being to reliant on loan players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jan 2014 17:19:23
They are loaning in average squad players, we have got 2 regulars in the team and a spanish wonderkid, hardly comparible

Agree0 Disagree0

I mean in the way that next season will be without them. They where challenging for Europe for most of last season because they had Lukaku. Now he's gone they are a completely different team. We are building a team around players who won't be here next season. We need permanent signings.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - permanent signings would be great AB, but sometimes needs must, there is a plan in place, and loan signings are a part of that..trust me, these guys know what they are doing..

19 Jan 2014 18:22:15
what about selling a player to Toronto and then loan him straight back?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why be so negative? What does everton have to do to make its fans see the glass half full? Jeeeez

Banter please ed.Would just like to say what a professional Seamas Coleman is he still says after all this time he still has to pinch himself he can't believe he is playing for Everton. Most players would think there to big for the club by now being linked with other clubs and getting raving reviews I really have no fear of losing Coleman at all because I know he loves it at Everton.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on Stef. He's proper down to earth that kid

We need to be careful that we do not over spend and stretch ourselves like a couple of years ago. ie when we had to let Arteta go for the ridiculous sum of £10 million. I know we need to sign a couple of players, but that situation must never be repeated. As RM states often, "we can make decisions based on football not finances".

Right then, time for a little rant. This will probably be my last post on here (if it even bothers to be posted, as why should it, as none of my posts have been put up for about a week now)

Now I have either been banned or someone doesn't like what I am putting.

If I have been banned then it is ridiculous as I have done nothing wrong. I don't swear or have a go at other posters so what is the problem?

If it is to do with the content of my posts, then, again what is the problem? Having read some of the crap that gets stuck on here, I would say I am one of the better posters.

So again, what have I done wrong?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - I have posted some of your posts mike, the only reason I can think of why some don't get posted is that maybe you forgot to sign in mate..

Chill out Mike. I have had similar. Perhaps we have forgotten to sign in on the odd occasion? I certainly have never had a problem with your banter. That is exactly what we are supposed to do. Have banter. Just to prove it. long live Moyes.the best manager we ever had.

Other Degs your going to get it again for that last sentence bud lmfao

Here we go again Blues, they got the wig, tried for Baines and Barkley, now looking at Coleman, going to have to fork out more than 15 million for him Gollom

Quick message for Mo Sizzlack and all the other Mancs

Why don't you all go and h##g off

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Our right sided equivalent to Baines - equivalent in price too, add another £5m, you don't sell your best players in January to teams your in direct competition with, I wouldn't worry that sounds like lazy journalism

Agree0 Disagree0

When you think players like glen Johnson went for 20 mill a few years ago colemans definitely worth about 20-25 mill considering his age

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jan 2014 12:41:58
I honestly don't think that we would sell to utd now.surely bk sees how Moyes has disrespected us in the past and that must have hurt him.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jan 2014 12:47:55
Im with lew, glen johnson is awful, if he goes for 20m, colemam is worth just over 350m plus add ons

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jan 2014 14:17:24
Also why is it that whenever one of our players is supposedly getting sold it is always to Man Utd, there are other clubs out there

Agree0 Disagree0

It's lazy journalism every time a player outside the top 4 is doing well the press tout them about to the most likely suitor, why would anyone currently playing for us want to jump ship especially to a team playing as bad as them lot

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jan 2014 10:23:53
How many people have seen michy Batshuayi play 90 minutes? I'm going to guess less than 3 so can everyone stop saying he is the cure to all our problems and the perfect striker.

At a time when our medical room looks like a scene from 'Apocalypse Now' is it wise to sign Lacina Traore who may well be out of action for the next six weeks with a hamstring injury?
No, it's still Batsuyi for me with a portion of rice and two spring rolls please.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He passed the medical at West Ham, so he might be ok to play.

Andy Carroll passed a medical with West Ham and he was out for Months

Can we all stop with the negative comments about potential new signings. It's incredible that it seems as though a majority of you think you know better than Martinez. Well over the summer Barry, Alcaraz, McCarthy were all apparently not good enough. They have proved us wrong. Everyone saying McGeady is cack yet I would guess none of you has seen him play in the flesh and even so Martinez seems to know what he is doing.
Enjoy the season it's great being an Evertonian right now. Don't have unrealistic expectations and get angry if they are not met. Don't slag off a guy who has not even kicked a ball for us yet or in some cases has not even signed.
Trust in the manager and the club. Speculating of who is coming in is fun and great I just hate the "he isn't good enough" " don't want him" "not everton standard" doesn't get a game for club x so why would we want him" seen him on YouTube looks awful/amazing" just support who we have playing in blue and trust the judgement of a man who has proved me and a lot of us wrong with his transformation of our club.
End of rant.
Oh and typical for us to get a new managers first game and it's away. We be pleased with any point we get on Monday as new managers always seem to win their first game

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said Svenny mate - totally agree - that was a great post

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with you on the new manager being away part, think we will have another southampton game on our hands, they will hit the woodwork a few times and we will be lucky to escape with a draw, anyway, I'm not with you on the 'don't want him' thing because we will all support whoever is in the blue shirt but what is the point of everyone going 'if (enter a name) joins I'll support him no matter what', well how boring would that be, people going 'don't want kenwyne jones, brad friedel has a better goal to game ratio' and people going 'wouldn't mind if fletcher signs' is all part of a the fun, getting other peoples views on things, seeing full matches on the tv is the same as being there, you just miss less as there are no pillars in the way :), obviously being there is much better, I'm not an armchair supporter like some fans (liverpool, uh I mean *cough*), I have seen mcgeady, on tv not live and I haven't been impressed, and I have said since we were linked with him that I don't want him, he is here now and of course I will support him and want him to do well, but until a rumoured 'target' signs and is an official everton player I think its only fair we give our personal views on that player whether we want him or not as its a banter site, its all part of the fun

MIke-Ox Long

Agree0 Disagree0

This game will be a serious challenge tomorrow. West Brom are not a bad side plus every player will give 100% to impress the new manager and show what they've got. I'd take a scrappy, controversial, 1-0 win to us right now.

Svenny

I think that is a good post.

However,
Kenwyne Jones is not good enough for us

He's a poor mans stracquilursi

Cheltonian Blue

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not even about McGeady or rumours about Jones or Bloggs it's the fact that on the surface we as Evertonians are giving it the we are so pleased and everything is great yet there seems to me to be a rather common thread of negativity.
Where this stems from I don't know, years of underperforming maybe. I am just so happy with what my team is producing and the general message the club is sending out that we could re sign Brett Angel and I would still be loving this season.
I also think 4th or higher may well be beyond us but that does not get me down because even when we did get 4th under Moyes I never believed we were truly heading in the right direction. Now I truly feel we are going in the right direction and it's great.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - amen to that svenny..

I have said this before, but will say it again. There are 2 types of supporters.those who get behind the team no matter what. and usually blame the ref for everything. (that's me). Then there are those who get on players/managers/chairman's backs (and wonder why the players lose confidence). They pay good money to go and shout abuse at players/managers/chairman yet call themselves supporters!

Last week BR. said Sterling had body contact then penalty.Yesterday Suarez also. For me last week wss referee mistake. But yesterday was Suarez no sportmanship. So stop destroy football sportmanship then focus your game. Now you received unsportmanship point 3 points.Be ashame why Everton is in same city with this kind of team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sterling would fall over if someone breathed on him he is that lightweight and as for Suarez, well he is a serial cheat, unfortunately, that's how South American teams are taught. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if one of their players dived in the box and they got a penalty against us in the derby.

Totally agree Bitter. Does anyone know who's been chosen as the ref yet and whether Big Brenda has been given the opportunity to refuse that choice?
