Best performance by a mile so far this season congrats to the lads.
Martinez now wants to rip up the luscious Goodison turf in exchange for plastic

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - plastic pitch for a plastic manager jonsey..just kidding..im not moaning after that mate...who could?...mind you, i can think of a couple.. :)

20 Feb 2015 01:18:15
We got lucky, very lucky indeed

Agree0 Disagree0

If it would mean a replication of that performance at every home match I'd help pay for evertons new artificial pitch myself!

Agree0 Disagree0

Swan you are comedy gold mate I knew you wouldn't be able
To resist. Ey Swan how bad was Howard for the first goal? Haha

Agree0 Disagree0

Swan: With all that "luck" and with Osman and Pienaar returning to the squad after injury and with Cleverly joining us in the summer, who knows what might happen. I bet you're licking your lips in anticipation, mate.
;-)

I've tried to stop posting in response to Swan and his comments but really? We got lucky? Back up that pathetic comment mate, how did we get lucky? We were unlucky to go one nil down, we were the better side. You proper wind me up with such crazy comments, I'm sure it is just not me that laughs when you speak son! Get a grip lad, that was one of our better performances this season and all you can say is 'we got lucky'!!! Unbelievable lad

My mrs gave birth to twins on Tuesday afternoon. So far in their life as evertonians, it's been very good so far!! Great result and performance tonight, more of the same against Leicester please.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - great bit of news that ally..congratulations to you and the missus mate, 2 new evertonians..wowzer..

Two lucky charms.congratulations to you and the missus.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i hope ally and his missus have twins every week dentie...they could buy us a plastic pitch with the family allowance.. :)

True Ed.get to work ally.we need kids knocking out, there's a placky pitch at stake.;)

It's not just a hatrick it was a perfect hatrick. But there will be not mention of that in the paper unlinke if it was for the dark side.

Well done. I can finally get a good nights sleep.

19 Feb 2015 20:38:47
Credit where it due, thought we best team even going 1-0 down, and players head didn't drop. Good to see the confidence back Ross seemed to have a spring back in his step. I thought stones looked a bit dodgy even before the sending off/penalty. Put that down to a one off though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Feb 2015 20:33:51
So it's true in Switzerland too - young boys can't keep clean sheets!
Great performance. Jags & Barry were unsung heroes, imo.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - love it tezza..

19 Feb 2015 20:31:44
Can premiership teams have an artificial pitch. Is there any regulations for grass in prem?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - only smoking it robbie.. :)

Bad news I am afraid fellow blues, I have just done a Sid and been going through the premier league rules & regulations and found this.

K 25. Artificial Surfaces
League Match shall be played on an Artificial Surface.

Agree0 Disagree0

K 25. Artificial Surfaces
No League Match shall be played on an Artificial Surface.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie: Nice one, mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

By the way, according to the UEFA Europa League rules, although artificial turf pitches are allowed, the final MUST be played on a natural turf pitch. So, for example, YBB couldn't host a final on their current pitch.
One other piece of trivia: the qualifying round matches can be played in daylight or under floodlights, but matches from the group stage onwards must be played under floodlights. I imagine that some qualifying round matches, which are played in the Summer months, would be in daylight even with evening kick-off times.

Best performance of the season; quick fluent passing (going forward! Not looking to pass back for the he'll of it) please play like this in the EPl for the rest of the season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im all for that zulu..

19 Feb 2015 20:17:48
Where did that come from! High tempo for 90 mins. Passing was excellent and Barkley/Lukaku looking confident
Again. I also think the stones incident will be good for him he needs to learn there's times to play out and there's times to be sensible. Very good nights work though keep playing like
That and we could have an interesting end to the season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree kingy..

19 Feb 2015 20:12:00
We played the best I have seen us play all season, quick passing composure, and dangerous all the time, could It be that euro teams look at vids of this season so dnt really know our style were as prem teams have sused us out and that's why we play so
better in euro

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could be playing on astro :)

Hardly fair game that Ed025, giving them young boys such a beating.

Now you can sit back, southern comfort in hand, and cheer us on.

YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - come on the young turks!....sorry mick, my heart cant wish for anything else mate, but my 2 lads are reds so for them and you lets hope its a draw..

Ed025: Your lads are reds? I guess bringing them up as blues would have been considered child cruelty during most of the last thirty years!
;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - they are both staunch reds sid....makes for good banter in our house though mate.. :)

So you still let them live with you then ed. There is no choice in my house mate you either support the blues or find another household to support you an that goes for all 7 of my kids. O an the wife haha even though I've been tryin to make her support the other sidefor the last five years just to get shut haha

19 Feb 2015 19:58:00
Excellent result and overall a superb performance. A few iffy aspects, but why be negative when there's so much to be positive about.
:-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thats right sid...the only 2 negatives for me were the sending off of stones for a very naive bit of play..and kevin RATcliffe..

Absolutely spot on Ed, even though he captained us during our dominant eighties, the guy is a complete muppet

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe he thinks by being controversial he will get more gigs fancy?, i certainly hope not mate..

19 Feb 2015 19:29:19
Can some one tell me why it it ex everton players have to sound like complete bell ends when commentating?
I've just had a nightmare vision of a Neville/Ratcliffe duo 😩

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the two divis..

19 Feb 2015 19:16:32
Thats a 28 million pound striker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - absolute bargain!.. :)

Can I say he should of had 6?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - of course you can steve...one of them a sitter of chelsea proportions..

19 Feb 2015 18:49:56
Artificial pitch for goodison next year? Never seen us pass it this well

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think lukaku is allergic to real grass.. :)

If we get to the semis or the final
He will probably score about 25 goals and he will be a world beater again. Funny game isn't it

19 Feb 2015 18:45:41
Best linesman in football this fella. But on a more serious note we do look like we have a bit of bite going forward for a change but the shaky defence is back, is it just coincidence thay Tim is back in the sticks?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Feb 2015 18:45:27
Kevin Ratcliffe is a total idiot.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he does seem very anti-everton jimmy i agree..

He's as negative as I'd imagine swan to be if he was commentating (:

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hes worse than swan kingy..hes like the real mike and swan put together!....hey ratters!!!!...keep your bleedin mouth shut you tosser..

I just don't know what his problem is Ed025s. Why is he so negative? to the point of even sounding so bitter and jealous .We scored the third goal and you would think as an ex player and captain he would be made up. No what does he do? named nearly every everton player bar howard who could of been or who was offside. He even agrees with every dodgey decision against us by this clown of a referee.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you called it jimmy..i thought we had ex-evertonians commentating to give the everton view!...im more than disappointed mate..

Be fair.
I hate it when other ex-players "big up" their former clubs during commentary, so I'm not criticising Ratters or any other former Everton player when they say what they think and don't see everything through blue-tinted glasses.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he was out of order for me sid, went out of his way to criticize all our players, a bit of loyalty from an ex captain is not too much to ask..

Ed025: For me, in any fixture, the result is the most important thing.
Second is the performance and the style of play.
Third, and a poor third for me, is what anyone - commentators, pundits, media, mangers, players, etc. (even posters like me!) - say or write.
That doesn't mean to say that I don't often think their opinions are complete and utter bo****ks.
I get wound up (see my posts during the past few months!) by poor results and by poor performances and by poor (to my way of thinking) styles of play.
However, I just can't get too worked up about commentators and pundits, although I'm often amused or bemused or confused by their comments.
;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like I got lucky, I'b abroad and though only commentary I could find online was from the states, I hate Americans talking about soccer as if they know anything about it, but it seems like I got the best deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - hey...some of our guys are american steve!...dont stereotype people mate, football is not exclusive to europe fella..

19 Feb 2015 18:41:02
I think our problem of playing Bobbys way is we needed a artificial pitch.we suit it better than young boys do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - get one on order...NOW..

19 Feb 2015 18:26:12
Don't post very often - lost the plot hasn't he, a game were you need to keep it tight and nick a goal and what does he do, play a keeper who's positioning is a waste of time and can't keep a clean sheet to save his life.
Wait a minute Lukaku's just put himself in the shop window!
You still safe then Martinez.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - tim has just redeemed himself there baz...but he was poor for their goal mate..

They were the shots Joel made look that easy u didn't even give him credit for saving it

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Feb 2015 18:02:58
Barry must be contractually obligated to play. It's a joke now. I want an enquiry if he starts on Sunday as well

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think you will want an enquiry then svenny..

19 Feb 2015 18:54:39
barry susp on sunday, hopefully he won't win his place back

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally, I thought Barry had an excellent match. Just a pity that he can't do that every week - especially when he's pressed by opposing players in Premier League matches.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he done well sid..i just wish we could play against teams like them every week mate..

19 Feb 2015 17:58:51
How unfortunate is the name Young Boys for a football club.there's certainly phrases in football fans use that could be seen as risky.
"were all over young boys"
"we kicked young boys arses"
"we really got stuck into young boys" is to name a few. I'm paying close concentration to the commentators tonight.
COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - so will fred the weatherman dentie.. :)

19 Feb 2015 16:51:21
Atsu voted AFCON player of the tournament, and what does Martinez do? Stick him on the bench to have 2 Central Attacking Mid's starting, when it's never worked. Clever, that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - dont forget dropping besic, who has been arguably our best player hugo...but lets wait and see..

At least with besic not playing,we can all enjoy Barry looking like he's running thru mud and bringing every player down with mis-timed tackles.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont know what besic has to do to get a game dentie?..

It could be that Bobby needs besic fit and firing for Sunday when Barry is banned.these artificial pitches can be buggers for injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and great for us..

19 Feb 2015 12:34:19
re artificial pitches.
we play on one every week for Fleetwood Town over 50's, & when we have finished our session
their youth team squad play on it.
we are just a bunch of old farts, but these young lads are pro's!
what's the problem?
this is just Mr. Bean getting his excuses in first if he doesn't get the right result.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think the problem is that they are pros! In all due respect their likely to be quicker over the ground and therefore the pitch is harder on their bodies. Also it is an advantage to the home team, they are very used to the different bounce of the ball in a way we will not be accustomed too.

BBC giving good reason for poor league form this season.

http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/31470797

I must say, I agree.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Makes me laugh though Hibbs, Philly Neville complaining that footballers like routine and if they play on a Sunday it upsets their balance and takes them a while to recover.

Stick them in a factory working 12 hour continental nights (3 on 3 off) at £7 per hour, having to start saving up for Xmas as early as February, worrying in case their car doesn't pass it's MOT first time, kids birthdays etc etc, then they will understand what stress is mate, they have no idea whatsoever what normal people have to go through, I wouldn't struggle playing 2 matches a week and a couple of hours training thrown in too, oh yeh pop over to Dubai all expense paid for some warm weather training eh, then there's the £50 grand a week.

I'm stopping ranting now as i'm doing my own head in

Degs

Agree0 Disagree0

Murf1000: You're dead right, mate! Using "lack of routine" is just an excuse for players who don't perform and are pampered and are seemingly oblivious to what the fans' lives are like.
Besides, it's been years (decades!) since the old schedule of just Saturday 3pm fixtures with occasional midweek evening fixtures stopped being the norm. Clubs have had plenty of time to devise effective rest/recovery/training/preparation routines for a schedule that has fixtures at different times at weekends and throughout the week and sometimes has long journeys in European competitions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Murf I agree 100 hundred percent mate with what you said, I would play 3.4 times a week for Everton and do it all for my misereble pay packed that I get now, players these days are spoiled and pampered they need a good kick up the backside and made cop on what they earn in a week it takes me two years hard graft to earn people need to stop making excuses for them they are well paid professional footballers.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Feb 2015 11:01:49
I know they are not all tarred with that brush mate as a lot do great things for charity, but seriously they have one frigging easy life.

If I knew when I was 5 years old what I know now, then school would have been well and truly sacked off and I would have trained on a field for 6 hours a day with a football.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Feb 2015 00:37:00
I haven't posted on here since pre season when I was so optimistic, now with players wanting out, things have changed dramatically. But I must say that if we had beaten West Ham in the cup as we deserved, (there was no shortage of effort that night) things would have been so different .
We need some impetus from somewhere, let's hope it starts tonight . the Swiss have an ageing squad, with not too brilliant league form, let's see some goals on the artificial pitch flying in from Ross and co and some long overdue smiling faces .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If being second in the league is not too brilliant, then we are garbage.still think we can win,but it's going to be a he'll of a tough game.0-1 would do for me.
