I've read some posters commenting about the choice of referee for Saturday's match and fearing decisions going against us because of his alleged bias or his supposed incompetence. While it's entertaining to reminisce about how hard-done-by we've been in previous derby matches (and fear that'll happen yet again), I'd be more concerned that our players are up for the challenge - especially mentally. I'm fed up with how many times we bottled the big matches under DM - irrespective of any dubious refereeing decisions. I also hope that we can select a full-strength, fully-fit, fully-motivated team and they don't let the occasion get to them and make any reckless tackles that invite the referee to bring out the cards. Sound defending, hard work, organisation, a little bit of magic, and clinical finishing - not too much to hope for, surely?

Hearing Good things about Ryan Ledson, 16 y/o midfielder who came off the bench for the U21's vs Middlesborough, has anyone seen him play? If so what kind of player is he, strengths weaknesses etc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ryan went to maghull high school. he England school captain and of good character. he can tackle and has a good engine. he is destined for the first team.

I ain't got no choice keith ill be at work so its radio or nowt. And I am not missing that one. I was at work when we got the 4-4 with united and I thank god for blessing me with my tiny but battered hinari radio ha ha

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha. If I had to, I'd do the same. Anything for my beloved blues.

I just get far more stressed when on the radio because I can't see it happening, which takes me to what I was saying when the commentators get all fast-speaking and all of that jazz.

Agree0 Disagree0

The radio would only be bad if Norman collier was commentating ha ha sorry about that showing my age now. Google him keith you will see what I mean. Now that would be bad. Anyone remember phil cool? Wonder what happened to him

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember Phil Cool. That alien face he pulled was different to say the least.

I couldn't listen to a derby game on the radio. Any game is hard to listen to on the radio for me because I always think we've all but conceded when the commentators go (in a very loud voice) "And (insert name here) drills it across the box."

I dread the 90 derby minutes when watching on TV or at the ground, but I think I'd have a heart attack if I had to listen to it on the radio.

You've got guts, bodie.

Is anyone else like me when it comes to the radio and listening to Everton on it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't stand it either Keith, but find myself listening nonetheless.

I think it has now become very obvious that we badly need a "Plan B". and quickly! We have already become far to reliant upon Lukaku up front and we just don't appear to have any other options now that teams are getting wise to our play. Mirallas & Pienaar are to far away from Lukaku most of the time, by being out wide, which just leaves either Osman or Barkley to try to get up in support from midfield. so now we aren't scoring many goals whilst other teams are. We are predictable and we have to change quickly or the next few fixtures will leave us with a lot to find on the teams above us. we play Liverpool, Arsenal & United over the next few weeks so we must start scoring goals by giving more support to Lukaku. Also, if, as looks likely, Baines is leaving for United in January, then let's hope Martinez has a replacement lined up. Shaw from Southampton or Davies from Swansea! I would take a 1-0 win on Saturday.

clubs need to rely on forwards mate, barca rely on messi scoring goals and city rely on aguero and negredo, not relying on forwards is a bad thing, i'd take 1-0 or 10-0 I don't care as long as we win, davies is very talented mate and will be a top left back, we have no chance of luke shaw so throw that one out your head, mirallas, pienaar and osman have all been poor this season, its not relying on lukaku that is the problem its other players underperforming

I am advised Shaw is off to Utd or Chelski. So I think other options are needed and ongoing.

Were was you advised that, I have no doubt he will be at one of the top 4 but why not united?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Utd need another left back when they have the amazing Alex Buttner? In fact, Utd are such a MASSIVE club and I mean a really BIG BIG club as we keep hearing from Mr Moyes why would they want to buy players from Everton? What would be great is if Utd could stay away for a change. Rooney, Moyes, Fellaini, soon to be Baines and no don't hel sniff around Barkley. Must be odd being the BIGGEST club in the world when you have to nick all your talent from the 'small' local club down the road. Would make a refreshing change for them to go for Luke Shaw but why would they do that when they have set up their production line at Goodison park? Aren't we supposed to fulfil that role of supplying the nucleus of Utds set up? We should be happy with that role because they really are a HUGE club

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, but I cannot divulge my sources or they will dry up and then I will "know nothing" as Manuel once said.
