If the plan is to go for only the Dutch players that teams are willing to sell, then everton will miss out on improving. Why not sell Lukaku and replace him with a Sanabria, Dybala, Costa or some other less costly stud. Witsel for $30 mil. There are way better non-dutch players for cheaper than that.

the price of players is going to b a lot higher now, with all the sky money, is troy deeney really worth more than 20 million?

18 Jun 2016 23:06:27
Surely that would only apply to buying players within the premier league blue imp? Also to the original post Witsel isn't dutch?

19 Jun 2016 02:18:09
Sorry. I know Witsel is Belgian. I do see how my post made it sound that I thought he was dutch. My apologies. I just hope they don't focus all funds on ex-koeman players or dutch players. or barely proven players. Replacing Lukaku ($65 mil World Class player) with a $40-50 mil striker, is the best option.

The best option is keep Lukaku and get his mind soley focussed on scoring goals for and helping Everton. The next best option is to sell Lukaku for as much money as we can get and replace him by spending as little money as possible. Our own youth structure is best. Failing that we should scour lower divisions in order to see if there is other youth developing in the same manner as John Stones. Failing those alternatives, then we should be looking to spend. But not for spending sake!

hi anybody tell me have we bought finch farm back yet as I notice they building players bedrooms and a mini stadium for young players be nice if we owned it instead of renting it .

100 year lease on it what's the difference between owning it and that?

Agree2 Disagree4

19 Jun 2016 11:06:30
Difference is after 100 years Everton FC either give it back or renegotiate, if Everton FC own it it's theirs until they decide they don't want it anymore.

Surely in years to come when we look back and recount the Everton legends of this period a big part of that will be how close the players held Everton to their hearts. What I'm trying to say is that no matter how good Lukaku is/ can/ will be he will never be an Everton legend when he doesn't have a shred of respect for our club. Personally that is reason enough to let him go and replace him with someone that is going to play their heart out for the Everton shirt.

I agree he will never be like bob latchford or a big Dunc no matter how long or how many goals he gets for us he says he wants to go so get rid.

18 Jun 2016 22:14:38
I'm not too bothered about whether a player is going to hit 'legendary' status as long as they are doing it on the pitch. I've said before that the term is used too regularly in today's game. Let's be honest, if we don't sell Rom this summer and he continues to score in and around the 20 goals a season mark then we will all be happy. Nothing more fickle than a football fan :)

What your forgetting is players, managers, coaches, scouts anybody else connected to any football club is only there for one thing MONEY, like everybody else in the world if offered a better wage there off. Don't be drawn in by this legend stuff the only legends at any club are the supporters, the ones who spend there hard earned cash.

strange how the word TIRED gets used a lot in the prem when these poor athletes have to play 2 games in a week and yet i don't think i have heard the word tired used once in the euros yet. pity they can't use the same mentality in the prem that they do in the euros.

Tired my arse they need to do a 56 hour working week then they will know what tired is, the money they on they should be playing everyday.

19 Jun 2016 16:46:55
Tired doesn't seem to apply either when they take them off half way around the world on some money spinning pre season tour.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 19:36:38
Tired is only used in this country. Take a look at Ronoldo, Messi and others around Europe. They play between 60 to 70 games a season.

I don't get all the moaning from the clubs about playing on a Thursday either. Hasn't done Seville any harm the past three years.

All Rom needs to do now is go bite some people so we can get silly Suarez money.

We could do with city buying him. If they paid £49 million for sterling we could easy get 100 mill for Rom.

Ha ha I had Rom first goal 3-0 @ 40/ 1, ideally would have preferred more than a £1 on it but will do for me, well in Rom.

I have to be honest here and say Koeman was not my first choice of managers it was Pellegini. After Koeman's press interview yesterday I have to admit I actually feel our club has made the right choice.

Looking at him throughout he seemed as though he is relishing the task ahead of him and came across very confident of being able to achieve what it is we want.

It is interesting that no one seems to of picked up the terminology he was using. One of the most important things I picked up was his use of the word project. He see's his appointment as someone who is going to head a project that will take our beloved club up to the next stage, a gigantic task imho. He looked and came across as genuinely happy to be heading this.

It is because of this I feel a lot of fans will feel let down this coming season, fans will be eager for that initial hit of success. I honestly do not feel we will get that during his first term, it will be season two when we start seeing the results of his work.

Success will not come to us overnight, it is no longer possible to do what Jack Walker did at Blackburn to almost buy a league title. That is not going to happen to us nor should we want it to. Koeman is going to lay some very solid foundations back into the club, foundations that he and his successors will build upon, they will be the foundations that will make us a world class club again and most importantly to keep us there.

Once those foundations are laid will be the time to replace Koeman, I do not think he has what it takes to maintain clubs at the very highest level, I feel his strengths lay in getting a club up there. Other managers are out there that would never be able to get a club up to those standards but are more than capable of managing a club once it is there. Maybe Koeman see's this in himself, that would explain a lot of the moves his has made.

As for signings this season we shouldn't be surprised if we don't make as many as we the fans think should be made. This is not our project and we do not know how RK is going to do it. The best thing we as fans can do is give him our 100% support even if we don't agree with what he is doing.

For the second time in 53 years I have 100% faith in our new manager or should I say our new project leader.

I don't see it as such a huge task like you said.
We are pretty much the same squad that moyes and nobby martinez took to europe and i think we don't see ourselves anymore than a top six side. If we want to be a top four side then we have sold to the wrong guy, look at the money liverpool, newcastle, west ham, villa have seen and spent without really breaking the top four places. £100 million won't take us any higher than top six year in and year out. we are severely lacking quality depth in GK, defence and attack.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2016 13:51:59
I still think that with the right foundations laid we will be capable of being a top 4 club. Liverpool, West ham, Newcastle, Villa it could be argued that the reason they never broke into the top 4 was due to three things.

1) manager not capable :- Koeman I now feel is capable of getting us there.
2) Club structure not set up for long term goals. :- I now feel we will be getting the right structure in place.
3) Club ambition, Newcastle and Villa relegated Liverpool and West ham would be content on a Europa spot. ( ok Liverpool may want CL first but would call a Europa slot a season saver. ) :- Koeman himself has stated he was more than impressed at the ambition shown by Everton.

Hi Ed I would like to say what a breath of fresh air it was to hear R Ks interview no rubbish just a straight talking manager, but what I thought was really good is how well Bill looked, he looked the best I have seen him in good few months may it continue, also we now have a new investor new manager and soon new players and a stadium in the pipeline it sure is a good time to be a blue I have been a fan for over 50 years and I think we have got really good times ahead c'mon you Blues, GuernseyBlue.

I've just been reading Koeman's interview yesterday. He speaks a lot of sense.
I liked that he stated the obvious in that Lukaku needs to improve.
Maybe if Lukaku starts to listen to people who know about the game he will realise that although a proven goalscorer he is far from the complete striker.
The possibility of being dropped by Belgium ought to give him food for thought too.
