Think we need a club captain who is playing week in week out, thoughts? Put my neck on the block here and suggest coleman .

I agree Kingkoeman. Players considered I think would be Coleman, Williams, Baines, Gana, Barkley and Lukaku. These players imho are the most likely to play every game.

For the time being I can't see Gana or Barkley as being captain material. Lukaku more so than those 2 but still not as much as Williams, Baines and Coleman.

Williams would be good but the Baines and Coleman would be just as imho.

Its than close between Coleman and Baines. Both with the club a long time. I would go with Coleman but both would be very capable captains imho.

Baines is too quiet. Coleman all the way.

How old are Baines, Williams? Koeman is ruthless and will already be thinking of the next generation for these two and it will take some doing especially to replace Baines.

Williams is an obvious choice but for me it has to be Coleman. He is Ireland captain too I believe.

He has been driving force for Ireland since he was made captain. He would be a great captain for us for years to come and please God lift plenty of trophies above his head for us 😎

Williams for me. Captained Wales through the eurose very effectively.

A statement of intent by buying big, ie manolas, van diljk, seems we want good players on budget prices, RK will leave our club if we don't stump up, i do agree we need to be carefull with whom be buy, how many Evertonians are happy with what we have, are the eds happy, because i'm not, and I've been a fan for 50 years, good and bad

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - its not just about throwing money around willy knilly howie, it has to be the right player who will suit the squad, we all know january is a bad time to buy and i think koeman will be given more funds but it has to be spent wisely mate..

18 Jan 2017 20:43:49
Hi Howie I don't believe in your philosophy, i think R K is here for the duration, i too have been an Everton fan for 60yrs and I think RK is definitely the the man for the job with Mr Moshiri I think the club is in the safest and most confident hands in decades, only my opinion cheers mate, GuernseyBlue

I don't believe this.

Well as far as I'm concerned he can leave, Thanks for telling us. Did Koeman mention anything else when he confided in you?

When he contacts you again just remind him about the project he is on with the club and the fact we have spent the highest amount in this window so far.

Hmppfff and he calls himself a manager. Thanks for the insight.

What is impressing me is the way we are trying to bring in quality young players for our u23 squad. It makes me believe that RK is in this for the long haul. We already have good young talent coming into the team, so the building blocks are being put into place. I agree we do need one or two quality players to strengthen the first team, and I believe this will happen.
But remember RK said this is a project, and projects take time. We just need to be patient.

I like Koeman mate but the first whiff from Barcalona and he is gone like a bat out of hell. On another note I love the way the club is investing in quality young players there our future.

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona has identified a shortlist of potential managers and have two clear favourites - he is not on that list.}

Thanks for that Ed that's a relief I like him.

I said when we appointed Koeman he is a very fortunate manager, he joined when we got investment, he also came when we have probably our best crop of youngsters for a long time, he will get money to spend, it will take time but he has everything in his favour, if he as good as we think he will be then everyone's a winner.

if he left for barca, then he must have done a brilliant job for the blues. gutted if that was the case. but then again we could attract a better class of manager than what we have been used to.

We can't just chuck money at players because of the FFP rules. We need a business structure that plans successive seasons with growth and vision. That includes: some investment in players, a new stadium, a youth policy that includes taking on staff, a manager with ambition, financial investment where permitted and an outward looking board who will investigate other ways of bringing in money and using the FFP rules to our advantage.

If you look at what has been happening, most of those boxes are ticked or are being planned. Yes Koeman may well run off to Barcelona as soon as they see him having success. tell me a manager that would not!

At that stage, we should have a plan for a succeeding manager to replace Koeman. Unsworth is already showing great potential with the U23's who last Sunday provided 2 1st team starters. We had our latest youngster come off the bench and score.

We beat a side that cost about 300 million to put together (4 nil). please tell me why we need to spend big all the time? Yes I would love Van Dyke in our defence. he is the best center back at the moment. we could have had him for I think 8 million 18 months ago?

If we were working with our plan then, perhaps we would have. Mr Martinez brought a load of ageing players in. We are now linked with Yoric Ravet of Young Boys, another Tim Cahill in my view, but with more skill and a shot like Peter Lorimer.

These are the players we can get in. The club is in a better position now than since Moyes left. let's hope it is in an even better position. It certainly feels like it to me.

Hi Ed hope that is true that Depay is joining Lyon, I think there is better out there and I am sure R K will find him, there was too much baggage with Depay and United I for one am glad we missed out on him, [intentionally I am sure}, cheers mate, GuernseyBlue

{Ed025's Note - so am i GB..

18 Jan 2017 22:16:03
We’ve had our chance with Depay and those who know a lot more about footy than I do have come to an assumption that he’s he’s not right for the blues or indeed there is someone else they would prefer . We will sign two or three before the end of this window, and it won’t be the leftovers.
We are all impatient for success we’ve waited long enough we can wait a little more .

I wouldn't mind having a go at tempting Sturridge . maybe not a popular choice but he knows where the net is, when fit 😜

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - when fit and when his attitude is right hes an excellent player tommo, unfortunately he continues to be an enigma who would be a very expensive gamble if anyone was daft enough to actually buy him mate..

Strange how things can change in a week. After the Leicester game we needed six or seven new faces. Now with a win over city (and a very good performance I might add) we just need one or two.
Perhaps it's not about how many we need, but how we change the attitude of the players we have. Palace game is huge now if we are to continue building on all this positivity.
Otherwise the doom and gloom merchants will be out in force again. Wonder what they've been doing all week?

If we lose to palace then Koeman should be sacked. £400 million should be spent on players by Monday and the stadium must be up and available for Community Sheild match that we are playing in in May because we won the league. Minimum Expectations!
