Hope we see some movement this week lads that malcom would be a good start.

Malcom would be an incredible signing, is it 30 mil plus add ons being reported? Excellent value imo and a huge upgrade on Bolasie.

Also, when people were complaining about not moving for Shakira (yes I deliberately wrote that name) , aren't you glad now? Twice the price but twice the talent at least. Not a player I would have expected to have a chance of signing, and so left field that nobody saw this coming. I'm now glued to SSN with fingers firmly crossed.

My only concern is whether he will suit the EPL. I think he'll be fine but after last year's transfer disasters I can't help but feel nervous.

Also, the true icing on the cake for me, more satisfaction than any incoming, would be if Klaassen turns things around. Not sure what went so wrong for him but if he can show his Ajax form then he would be like a new player for us. He's definitely got the talent and it will bite us on the ass if we sell him without another chance here.

100% agree with all of that Worcester.

Swansea, Stoke and West Brom were the relegated teams last season. Shaquiri is off to the reds and I don't know of any other players worth chasing from these teams, but there surely must be promising youngsters within their squads who we should be looking at. We nicked Jags from Sheffield United when they went down. I think also Baines from Wigan? Just because a team goes down does not mean they don't have promising youngsters who would probably jump at the chance to stay in the Premier League.

Alfie Mawson is one that springs to mind. Quality CB that I’d be very happy with.

Not too many worth left looking at. Mawson is a good shout. Used to rate Shawcross too but he’s had a few injuries. Jonny Evans decent too but he’s gone to Leicester. Think Rondon would be good back up for Tosun and has a £16 mill clause - that’s nothing these dsys.

Mawson is a future England International. Would love him in our team. Can weigh in with a goal or two also.

I like Ahmed Hegazy if we don't land one of our first choice CBs. Or even if we do.

We also got Gueye from relegated aston villa and what a signig that was in every aspect. Definately a place in the market worh looking at. wouldn't Mawson cost a lot despite relegation. Good player but i'd look at other targets.

Marvellous prior World Cup Hirving Lozano was only linked with us, now it seems other clubs have been following him and were not even mentioned, but I do have a feeling the signings will come as a surprise in that it won't be any of the ones in the rags.

If true, I am both surprized and disapointed that everton have put a price of 20m on Lookman, he is, imho, head and shoulders above the left sided player we are said to have looked at, and at just 20, this kid might be the next world star.
I know that everyone has their price, but if he is set on going, we should not be considering anything under 50m.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

17 Jul 2018 16:47:06
Not disputing what you are saying, but where have you heard the 20m to? To be honest, how many 'next best things' have everton had un the last 20 years who haven't reached the standards. Maybe he is a nightmare. Maybe he is disruptive. Maybe he has said for whatever reason he doesn't want to pkay for us. Maybe for whatever reason he thibks he shoukd already be playing for Real Madrid ir Barca.
Unfortunately we as fans have to listen to the powers that be, and if they are prepared to sell, it has to be for a reason.
Everyone he is saying he is going to be this and that, but maybe, just maybe the professionals that see him. daily think otherwise for a legitimate reason.
Personally, i hope he is going to be amazing as we already have him, but maybe he won't.

I know we are all looking for those star quality signings and we are looking for brands/ Silva to unearth these future gems and sell certain players who have underachieved but in reality I don't think that will be the case.
I would prefer to see just what they can do with our current squad.
I believe there are players at our club who have the potential to become part of a great team.
We have all moaned about the managers we have had and their style of play.
We have moaned how players were out of position and that tactics didn't suit their qualities.
We have moaned that certain players were overlooked and wasted yet let's face it we were very optimistic with the signings we made just over a year ago.
I personally would like to see just how good the brands/ Silva team actually are by working with this squad.
Surely a managers skills and attributes are better displayed by turning an underachieving squad into a team that can actually play football?
If brands/ Silva have the qualities and ideas that we need at our club then what better way to prove themselves than by working (for now) with the squad we already have?
We can't become a club that sells 20/ 30m players after 1 season that involved 3 managers, then spend another 100m hoping that we find the formula.
Also this would place less pressure on the management and place more emphasis on the players abilities and attitude.
If by January he needs changes then so be it but at least we Would have a clear indication of the management's intentions/ tactics and also the players attitude towards them.

I'm with you on that Pauly, unless the management team have already identified specific target areas that they want to address then i would not be too distraught if we did not sign any new players.

Agree3 Disagree1

17 Jul 2018 15:25:40
There's obviously some good players in the squad and some great prospects but to move on and I think to compete with the bigger teams we need to spend. Think they have identified targets and a lot of that seems to be concerning the left side. Without going for this, the squad is really unbalanced imo.

Sa90 I think more new faces puts us in another transition period and if they don't hit the floor running then more pressure is on the players and management.
We have players that have bedded in now, good or bad.
The opportunity is there for us this season to find out for sure if these players can be utilized by a new manager with different tactics and a new way of thinking.
I just think we need patience rather than ask moshiri to splash the cash again.
You don't keep throwing money at a problem. You find a solution.
I understand every Evertonian wants to see repeated investment and big star names but you have to build a steady foundation before you add the luxuries.
Silva and brands have been employed to do just that. Let's see how they go before the cash is splashed.
If the same thing as last summer was to happen again we Would have an inflated squad and the pressure on the new signings would be unbearable.
Let's face it 2 bad displays and the crowd will turn on them.
Give the management and board time to see the current squad in competitive action before big money is spent.
We need stability and support for our club and us fans need patience and understanding.

Not recruiting is a mistake. It is simple. If you stay static while everyone else around you improves then you fall behind. We need to address certain key areas and no manager in the world no matter how good they are can turn back the clock on baines and jags careers. As for that williams last year was awful at the best of times. We need to strengthen our defense before we do anything.

17 Jul 2018 19:01:58
Blue ray I'm not saying no investment. I'm saying don't splash the cash all over the team.
Minimal investment on key areas is needed unless there's something better at the club.
Jags Baines and Williams yes I agree needs to be strengthened but don't be disappointed if they're not big names or big money signings.

I think we should go all out for Mbappe. £500 million, Ronaldo. £200 million, Pogba £27.5 million, Kane £96 million and Trippier £25 million. Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? So do some other similar posts! LMAO.

Ok now I have wound a few of you up, here is the serious bit. We have Mason Holgate, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman, Tom Davies, Benni Banningimi and a couple of others who have shown some promise but also sucumbed to the pressure of the Premier League. Well all of these players have had a rest, have a new manager/ coach and all are that little bit more experienced. Add into that mix, the goalkeeper, the signings of Tosun and Walcott and potential return to fitness and form of Kevin Mirrallas. Colemans return to fitness and perhaps a couple of new signings. eg a left sided midfielder, a center back and a left back. and we just might have the basis of a decent squad. I know I have missed out players like Siggy and Gueye and Niasse but they will also undoubtedly play a part. There may still be a few to leave before any signings are made, but only time will tell. It is the youth coming through that excites me more than any potentially big signings.

The youth and also some experienced players with proven quality who will hopefully be reinvigorated by a new manager with an attacking style of football.

An excellent post there Degs. And yes, a bit of reinforcing on the left and we will have good balance. Also some pace at the back please and I’m one happy chappie.

The youngsters are a real reason for optimism given that they may well get some quality game time under Silva and a chance to kick on.

Just please please, don’t let Lookman move away.

Degsy your best ever post. Full stop. You're so don't more positive every day.

We can moan about the bad stuff if and when it happens. For now like in your post, let's embrace the positives.

I can't wait for the start of this season.

On a side note did anyone notice how much he wants the full backs pushed up anx a focus on the wide men. That's a bit more like the Everton I know.

17 Jul 2018 12:06:41
What have you done with the old Degsy? No mention of aged players, poor Martinez recruitment or Osman.
I like the new positive Degsy. Keep it up, well at least until the 5th game.

Ok here's a post for people sweating with no players coming in yet.

First and foremost ignore the rags, wait until the player is holding the shirt up at finch farm, they will come.

Secondly, let's just see what an attack minded manager can do with players some may have written off, few friendlies, play the players in the correct positions, play with support to the strikers, once we have played a few, Silva will know what he needs.

The last manager played too defensive, and the two before that tippy tippy sideways football.

Let's see what Silva gets out of these friendlies with a better style of football, putting other teams on the back foot for a change.

Let's be patient for a week or so and see what Silva can bring to the team.
