do the club really have money to spend...would make sense to take a punt on strengthening the squad now and if we can finish top 4 all will be repaid in dividend ...what do you thing Ed ? {Ed013's Note - Everton will have a war-chest hidden away, how much? who knows}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Where is the war chest coming from though? We haven't sold anyone of any major value, although i'm pretty sure Heitinga will be sold for a few mil soon as he's not getting games.
With that you would think moyes has a centre half coming in?
Also with barkley going on loan, he must be pretty confident of a centre mid coming in too.
Am I right in thinking we don't currently have any players on loan to us aswell? Moyes loves a loan, so maybe we've got one or two of them coming in too. He also doesn't let much slip when it comes to transfers, so we probably won't know till its official.
Exciting times, but the ed's make it harder by dropping hints with their comments! All in good fun though! IMWT!

I believe there something going behind the scenes, Moyes will have something to spend.Stef the blue

To the second poster saying where has our war chest come from, we haven't sold anyone, erm I think you have a short memory, cahill and rodwell were both sold recently

I believe Capoue can play CB and CM so if Heitinga were to go and he were to come in it would make some sense

Being an optimist and realist, which can be difficult when you have followed the greatest club in the world for over 50 years, I have come to this conclusion.
We are in the best position in the league for a number of years, Moyes contract finishes in the summer, Everton will get 20 million tv revenue mid year, BK loves the club. So I am expecting Bill to mortgage get a loan on the incoming revenue and provide 10-12 million for DM. DM will buy wisely probably 2 players + a loan. I reckon Butland will be one and a CM and Striker. Anyway keep up the great work Eds and COYB {Ed013's Note - I will pass it on to all Eds, thanks mate}

Ste Old Swan

Agree0 Disagree0

Slightly ambitious this but I feel with 2 players we could possibly win the league. Capoue/M'Vila and Donovan and our team would be:-
Howard
Coleman..Jags..Distin..Baines
Fellaini..Capoue/M'Vila
Mirallas..Donovan..Pienaar
Jelavic
That team wouldn't be far off challenging IMHO

Agree0 Disagree0

Top 4 maybe, with a bigger fund with the mega money in 2015 you never no..

Agree0 Disagree0

If Donovan has gas in the tank and fire in the belly, that line up would be amazing, with two big midfielders and speed lef and right and solid defense up the middle. FA Cup challengers and Top Four.

New Blue in the U

Agree0 Disagree0

You need than 13 players to win the league but it's wishful thinking though.

Agree0 Disagree0

You need 13 players in that squad there's no oviedo and gibbo

Agree0 Disagree0

Osman, Osman, Osman. Stop forgetting him. He is our best player this year and should be first on the team sheet

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do I need 13 players in a team. I thought a team was comprised of 11 men ? Yes Gibbo, Ossie and Oviedo are good players but that would be my strongest 11. Everyone has a different opinion which is the beauty of football

Baffles me why some people still omit Leon, he is at his peak and is an outstanding player, proper Evertonian, would die for the shirt, works his ass of and is quality.

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

Who would you leave out of that team for Osman ? I love Osman as much as the next blue but, in my opinion, that would be the strongest 11, with Osman doing damage from the bench when the opposition are tiring.

Moyes should push the boat out for M'Villa. Class and only 22. Surely Everton is a better prospect than QPRother than if the move is simply for money. Kc blue.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Everton might be a better prospect than QPR right now, but i'm sorry to say in the next 2 to 3 years we'll be lagging behind QPR if nothing changes at Everton with the investment.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Arry appears to be repeating his usual practice of spend at any cost. Add that to the number of also ran's signed already this season, I can see QPR following a similar route to Portsmouth.
Also, in Darron Gibson we have a class holding midfielder who should always be in the team when fit.

Not sure if any of you agree, but i believe 3rd place is well and truly up for grabs, with the 'rafa' issue at chelsea, they're not exactly running away with 3rd, arsenal are completely out of sorts recently, however i do believe spurs may be a step too far, considering their quality, and the financial power compared to ourselves. But by no means is it out of the realm of possibility, a strong finish to the season with a few wins at the big grounds, we would really be in with a shout

Alex

Believable6 Unbelievable3

We need to beat the likes of swansea at home if we are going to get 3rd. some winnable games coming up and harder ones for those above us. we need to close gap. its our home form which will be key!

Agree0 Disagree0

We need to beat swansea at home what like arsenal and chelsea did, yes we have drawn a lot of games this season but last season a lot of those draws would have been losses and some of our wins would have been draws, that's why this time last year there were people saying if we don't get players we would be in a relegation dog fight well we got players in we finished well, we got players in in the summer and we are doing very well, this is an improvement people and i agree with alex 3rd place is possible COYB IMWT......GRBEFC

I see Suarez has admitted to diving against Stoke to get a penalty. Brendan Rogers has said this is unacceptable and Suarez will be dealt with internally by the club. This poses 2 questions to me.....

1 Does Brendan mean diving is unacceptable, or does he mean admitting it to the press is unacceptable? I guess the latter.

2 When he says the matter will be dealt with internally, does he mean with a red hot poker? Coz I bloody well hope so!

Degsypulford

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Total joke. Brenda should have recognised what a cheat Suarez is a long time ago and not waited until the little rubbishs admission.
By stating he will take internal action now, shows how much he has to learn from a real man and Manager like Moyes. Some people have got steel inside them and some jelly. Afraid Brenda is made of the wobbly stuff just like Pardew.

It was probably an "unintentional" admission by Suarez

Is it just me or does any1 think jela needs a kick up the a** maybe bench him with victor upfront a felli supporting him . . . or even try vellios at some stage, from watching our recent games, jela needs to stay onside more as he's always being flagged, also needs more confidence with the ball . . . not saying he isnt great cos i know he will come good again and have the same form as the 2nd half of last season, just thinking along the lines off that he knows he's our no1 striker and don't think he's getting enough comp COYB!

Believable5 Unbelievable8

To be honest I think the opposite is true and he's trying too hard, which in turn means he's in the wrong areas when the chances come. That said we should be looking at another striker as a priority if we have any spare cash as competition for places is important.

Strong rumours about James mc carthey, heard last night of good source, given more credibility this morning of a source from the Wigan end his words being watch this space .hope it's true good player

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with bluestu1878, he is trying to hard, he scored all his goals last season from just being in the box, he isn't going to score many whilst he is going off to the wing looking for the ball

Agree0 Disagree0

But there is a lot of times he is calling for the ball and our players take a easy option instead of trying that cutting through ball, gotta try and feed him when he calls for it, if we lose the ball we lose it, out of 10 tries 2/3 will get through, and given only the goaly, 2 out of them 3 will be in the back of the net!

ONLY if we sell and weaken the team only then can we afford a loan player.so stop dreaming.we need to get a new manager lined up if david does not sign and if he does sign that's gonna be a more money improved contract with a prob big resigning fee .SO please stop dreaming cos we have no money .I wish we would sell someone and put the money back to reduce the debt and give young players like duffy and barclay a chance instead of bringiing some chancer in who won't sit on the bench but just unsettle squad instead.WE HAVE NO MONEY SIMPLES.. tp {Ed025's Note - is TP the new mike?...you are very negative mate, as Monty python said " always look on the bright side of life"...

Tp how do you know we have no money? are you just repeating the usual press mantra ' everton in dept will have to sell to appease the bank' i refer you to an interview with robert elstone conducted in december in which he says we have 'a small budget available' the important word there is small but it is available non the less, and we all know what david can do with a small budget. your solution is to sell a player to sevice the dept and play young players, well that seems to be working for villa, this idea would probably derail our season and ruin any chance of the lucrative cl money and also lower our prize money for the season by not finishing as high as is possible at present. hopefully you are just having a bad day and are not usually this pessimistic take a leaf out of eds book and always look on the bright side of life and get behind us on our push for pl and cl double in five years!! you see it doesn't hurt to dream!COYB IMWT.....grbefc {Ed025's Note - I could not have put it better myself grb..well done mate..

Such negativity, WHY? we are in the best position we have been in for years and years. Most clubs are in debt and still spend, there's no reason we won't spend as well, unless you're secretly David Moyes or a board member there is no way you could know how much we have to spend, you never know we might have something to spend (hence being linked with players that would involve a transfer fee) or one of our wealthy board members might of open their wallets for one. Ffs we don't want your negativity here, go back to what, toffeeweb, the blue union, something like that?

yes we are in 49m debt but that was season end 2011/12, not this year, does not include rodwell deal, cahill deal, nike deal, season ticket revenue! not so long ago we were in alot more debt but still signed felli for 15m

Wayne Rooney will never play for everton again. His next move will be worth hundreds of grand a week. He ain't the sort of person to turn down a payday in my opinion. I have posted quite a few times on here before, wish I had left my name as they were all credible posts and two 'agreed' by ED! but i didn't so you probably will dismiss this one! anyway: My ideal and prediction for most likely team for rest of season if we manage to make any transfers!
............................Howard.................................
.Coleman....Jagielka...NEW(lescott! Forren!)....Baines
Mirallas.......Odjida-ofoe.......Osman............Peinaar
.........................Fellaini...................................
..............................Jelavic...............................

Subs:
1) Mucha! 2) Distan 3)Oviedo 4) Anichebe 5) Gibson 6) Naismith 7) (new striker: promising and young- give Jelavic a kick up the backside! (Moyes gem finding))

As you can see there is not much change at all to the starting line-up... There doesn't need to be!

Ofoe would be a great addition as it would strengthen midfield immensely (no disrespect to Phil Neville! the mentality and passion he brings is invaluable. However he is not a CL midfielder). If any of you watched the Swansea match you will agree that we lacked such a player (a commanding presence who can see a pass forward and is comfortable on the ball!) to allow Osman to express his play making capabilities and flair in attack.

I think we also need a new central defender, not because Distin isn't reliable enough (FA Cup Semi excluded!) because he is quick and powerful and in my view has had a blinder of a season so far. But we have become far to complacent in defense and especially the partnership between Jags and the big french man. We need to bring a good central defender in, to mix this up, to create competition between them and cut out complacency as we are conceding far to many goals! IN JUST TWO ADDITIONS I BELIEVE WE CAN ACHIEVE 3rd OR 4th PLACE WITH OUR TEAM! We will have the most balanced team in the PM, my view! I think Jelavic is class enough to be our leading striker and take us to CL, but i think he will thrive with a bit more competition for his place, bringing in a good and young striker will kick start this season for him, (second season syndrome has been a bitch so far!)

What do you all think?

Sorry to go on a bit lads! but it is all positive as we are in a really great place right now, hopefully we can capitalistic on it!

Ham {Ed025's Note - good post that ham..

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Good post pal but I'm not sure about leaving Gibson on the bench...

Agree0 Disagree0

No way should Gibson be on the bench, the fact that we still haven't lost a league game in which he started and finished (West Brom game shouldn't count as he went off after 15mins) shows his importance to this side.

Far too important to this side, and is always missed when not in the starting XI. Range of passing is exceptional and reads the game so well

Personally, priority for me, is a big, strong, defensive midfielder, like Capoue (sp?) or M'Vila to sit alongside Gibson or Osman, a back up striker, one preferably with pace and I still think we need another winger, because Naismith is NOT a winger, it pains me to see him play there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ham, prefer to have a good RM as cover for Mirallas than a CB plus it gives us the option to try Mirallas either upfront or just behid the main striker. Also I think Gibson would push really hard for a place in the team maybe at the expense of Ossie who has been outstanding since being asked to play CM. However, if we get what your asking for and everyone stays fit then 4th is realistic and 3rd a possibility.

In regards to transfers, we must keep in mind that we are fifth on the table. We'd have a slew of injuries, and yet still in fifth. We have clearly underachieved. Many draws, by way of missed opportunities or bad officiating, should have been victories.

I can think of only one point we did not deserve (yeah Suarez was onsides).

We have scored the fifth or sixth number of goals, and the defense (not a misspelling mates) has been solid (better goals against than most of the League).

Get Hibbo, Gibson, Super Kevi back. Better luck, better aggression, and top four is likely. Even if you bring in half these rumored transfers, is any ones of them as an unknown better than who we have? Chemistry counts, and a bag of high priced all stars is never guaranteed to ripen to perfection. Look at the Mad Cossack at Arsenal.

"I can think of only one point we did not deserve (yeah Suarez was onsides). "
What are you on about? We were the better team, their 2 goals were lucky (Suarez's shot went in off the back of Baines' knee and Sterling dived for the free kick that led to their 2nd goal), Suarez assaulted Mirallas and Distin and got away with it, and even though Suarez was onside for the disallowed goal, if you look it should of been disallowed anyway due to the fact that Coates was using Jagielka as a stepladder

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the Suarez non-goal is the only real good break we've had, but point well taken regarding his other antics. Other than our 2 nil effort, no team has dominated Everton.

New Blue in the U, I'm going to ask a question here and I wan't a straight and honest answer. Are you Tim Cahill? I had reason to believe Timmy was originally 'Aussie Blue' but he seems to have disappeared, and now you have turned up only recently, signing off with 'New Blue in the U.' I'm guessing the 'U' in your name would be USA? The reason I ask this question is because Tim Cahill is my idol, and as I'm 16, he is the best Everton player I have seen and my favorite Everton player.
