Never mind about the game, who saw Gylfi's Mrs!? : )

Solid win tonight. so happy with Keane and Pickford, think they're going to be pivotal this season. Gueye and Schneiderlin dominated the midfield. Massive tempo change tonight and hope we take that 1st half to City on Monday. COYB!

I think if you earned £100k+ a week you could look like Quasimodo and still pull a worldie.

you on about Crouchie there Gibbo :) , I always remember on soccer am I think it was, the presenter asked him what he would be if he wasnt a footballer, he said a virgin ha ha.

Great performance tonight even though we took are foot off the gas in second half RK will know it will get better but he must be happy about how well they have settled, I mean that's 5/ 6 new signings that are in the first team, definitely need a striker.
Klassen starting to get into it more and I always thought he will need the most time and a bit of patience with him.
Mirallas looked good tonight and I'm almost expecting him to be a new signing he has to show koeman he was right to keep him part of his plans.
I hope we go too Man City with positive attitude, I'm sure we will but I'm looking forward to those big games where although I was not expecting wins we mostly bottled games but there's winners in this side and young players who want to be winners.

Great performance and some really good football played. ( puts tin hat on ) The only issue I can see is that we seemed to lose control of the midfield when we brought besic on, where as normally it would have been Gaz barry to quite things down. Besic not up to it for me but on the whole a great performance.

Agree1 Disagree2

18 Aug 2017 06:29:26
Klaasan is becoming vital in that midfield. He keeps the ball moving and has great awareness. Everything good went through him tonight and it was no surprise we dropped off when he came off.

Looking forward to city.

Absolute madness! . I sit in the last row in the park end at the front.

Should not of been allowed in as it was well known what they where gunna be like.

Not gunna lie it was pretty scary when they all charged over.

Big thanks to the stewards and police for containing it. Apart from the 1 divvy who was recording us for some reason.

The away leg should be behind closed doors, this is the way to nip this conduct in the bud, plus a large fine, but i doubt ufa have the ball for that.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2017 06:20:06
They are light years behind us where football violence is concerned, just shows how far we have come in this country. Fair play to the police and stewards though, I thought they handled it pretty well.

I felt sorry for Lookman and Mirallas. They both looked like the trouble got to them a bit. Will be a big test of their character out there for the seasons leg.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2017 11:38:47
Bloody hell mate! You felt sorry for lookman and mirallas? Haha. They where safe if it came down to it.

I felt more sorry for the kids sat by me. Loads where crying and who knows it could've been there first game and what kind of impression will that leave on them

It was proper madness tbh. When chairs started coming over you knew that the didn't give a hoot.

On the performance it was a decent first half. Second half was poor but tbh I couldn't watch the game as I was constantly expecting a bottle to the head.

I slated him after his first game, but as you say, credit where credit is due, he had a great game last night.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 22:09:32
Sorry guys, I wasn't feeling lookman tonight. Won a lot of free kicks and corners from his play but nearly every decision he made (passing wise) was the wrong choice. Bags of talent but needs to learn a lot! Maybe this is why he hasn't been playing as often as we all thought he should have been.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

17 Aug 2017 22:57:52
I thought he was the one that woke us up after a slightly off first 5-10 mins. He was brilliant as far as I am concerned (sure its all relative, he has years of improving) . I mostly liked how physical and fearless he was. Some of his tackles were immense. He protected the ball pretty well and his pace is obvious. I wouldn't want to have to make the decision to loan him or not.

Agree3 Disagree1

18 Aug 2017 03:23:12
Sorry Blue disagree. Yes he did some good things. But generally I thought he was off his game. Maybe nerves got to him and he over thunked. I'm not sure. I was surprised he bought Mirallas off instead of him. You could see Mirallas was cheesed off too, the way he threw his arm band down. Best game so far this season and I'm pleased people are laying off Martina. I think he's played really well so far and yet fans are slating him. Good competition for Coleman.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2017 06:23:17
He definitely looked like the crowd trouble got to him. He was quite nervous anyway, but after that, the poor lad rubbish himself! Don't forget he's only a kid and to be honest, he looked like he was playing more of the game that Koeman wants from him.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Aug 2017 06:34:04
I'm with you Mowfee on every point. I think he was trying too hard and needs to be attacking the space not the man. He had a decent first half but should of went off midway through the second.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2017 08:05:55
Lookman is a kid and your bringing him down for a few poxy mistakes.

Agree1 Disagree1

18 Aug 2017 08:39:56
he had a rare chance of 90 mins, and did a lot of good things but as some have said he I still young and learning, last night was great experience gained that he will only learn from.
On another note I though Baines had a really good game as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2017 09:37:39
We're not bringing him down bluey, Just voicing our opinion. He's a professional footballer at the end of the day, obviously he has maturing and learning to do but we are just giving constructive criticism. If we thought the above then that's our opinion. Everybody's entitled to one. Good performance overall team wise.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Aug 2017 17:32:42
We weren't bringing him down. Just saying he seemed off his game. Maybe down to nerves or whatever. If we were slating him. We'd be saying something like "what on earth was Koeman thinking playing him in such an important game" or "Lookman will be great competition over scrubbing the first team players boots" We did not.

In terms of mindset and the style and tempo of football trying to be played, that's the best 45 minutes I've seen from us in a while. Add Sigurdsson in to that (not sure where, maybe mirallas or Klassen) and we look a force. With a no9 signed Koeman is going to have some job selecting XIs but my word he'll have options on the bench.
Special mentions to Schniederlin, Lookman and Pickford who all look different class. The whole team looks very good tonight.
Just annoyed as I had Keane to score first and a 2-0 win at 55-1. It's not going to stay 2-0 though.

Hi Ed 025,I want your opinion on the following, I think it's about time we all sat back to take into account what is happening at Everton, I don't think in all our wildest dreams we ever thought that this revolution going on in our Club was ever going to be this massive, I sincerly thank the Board and in particular Bill, he loves this Club and he has found Mr Moshiri with all his wealth to step in and buy us, he has delivered exactly what he said he was going to do with his vision for our great Club and has provided the funds to our new manager R K who in his first year has transformed our Great Club, I think only Leighton is left in the starting line up of the first team since the dreadful Martinez era, coupled with that plans for the new stadium and all the goodwill that the Club is doing in the community, I have been a Blue since the 60s and I am so chuffed with what has happened to us, I really think we are going places at Everton and that the beast is stirring, with more signings yet to come before the end of the window I am proud to be a Blue cheers mate.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

{Ed025's Note - im very happy with the way we are moving forward GB, i think the best signing we have ever made was farhad moshiri mate..world class..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - welbeck and dolberg seem to be the rumours doing the rounds bretto and demari gray has been mentioned as well, maybe it will be someone from left field though mate..

17 Aug 2017 18:58:15
Neither of them are the target striker that Ronny usually favours. do you see them happening eds?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think welbeck seems the more likely fanatic but thats just me speculating mate..

17 Aug 2017 21:11:56
Welbeck would be good for me, offers a lot. Would love a look at Dolberg but might be too much of a gamble to get used to the premiership. Dembele is another I feel could be good.
Gray would add pace and trickery surely the he could be the player from left field Ed ☺️.

We have given sig the number 18 shirt I thought he would take Ross's number 8 looks like he might be staying then.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

17 Aug 2017 18:44:53
Wouldn't be surprised now if Ross stayed, recovered from his injury, skulks in the shadows for a few months more, eats some goodison humble pies, realises what a numpty he's been, sacks his agent who is a bigger numpty (or maybe a vampire) , comes on for the last two minutes of a cup game, scores a worldy and then suddenly all will be forgiven, signs a five year contract extension, then gets sold to Spurs for £90M. Then won't get a game. Seriously I hope he stays as it would be a shame for him to leave after all the pressure that's been on him as a local lad. Still got a lot to offer on his day.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 16:26:14

17 Aug 2017 14:42:57
What is the benefit of preventing short-term loans to Championship, League 1, and League 2 clubs outside the transfer windows?
Clubs at that level don't have the resources to maintain big squads, so, in the event of injuries to regular starters, a temporary loan of a player (say a youngster from a Premier League club) would help them.
Besides that, I'm sure that some Premier League clubs would quite like some of their youngsters to get experience at these lower levels on a short-term loan of a month or so rather than the present system of full-season or half-season loans.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

17 Aug 2017 15:18:39
but the clubs with a few bob could benefit massively from this.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 15:53:33
Murf1000: how would "monied" club's benefit massively?

Agree0 Disagree2

17 Aug 2017 16:36:09
if you were able to take loans whenever you wanted then a club with a few bob spare who was near the top at Xmas could take a few good players on loan, as they can afford the loan fees, thus having an advantage on the teams below them, i'd have no objections if it was under 21s though.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 17:19:13
Murf1000: I accept that there should be restrictions on the overall number of short-term loans a lower-league club could take at the same time, and on how many concurrent loanees from the same Premier League club, and on how many could be in specified age-ranges (e. g. under 23 or over 23) .
I doubt that fees for short-term loans, especially of U23 players, would only be affordable by “monied” lower-league clubs. In fact, as it’s to the advantage of the Premier League clubs for youngsters to get experience, they might not ask for a loan fee or for a contribution to the wages during the short-term loan period. I just think that all parties could benefit from the re-introduction of short-term loans from Premier League clubs to lower-league clubs.

Agree0 Disagree1

17 Aug 2017 14:21:25
It seems to me that most websites (like NewsNow) which publish transfer rumours have not actually sourced and researched and verified the original stories. These websites are just trawling the Internet and repeating the stories from elsewhere. Just because a story appears on many websites doesn't mean every repetition has been checked before publication AND doesn't mean it's any truer.
As for Twitter (and other social media) - well, a lot of the transfer rumours on it appear to be everything from wishful-thinking, misrepresentation, misinterpretation, and trolling, right down to outright lies.
I don't doubt that there are many stories that have a kernel of truth - not least because the interested parties (clubs, agents, players) may want (or can't avoid! ) some things leaking out and then appearing in the media - but a story appearing on all the news-aggregating websites merely shows how efficient those websites are at scouring the Internet for keywords like the names of clubs and players.
At least on this website we have people like Ed002 who seems to be in contact with people truly "in the know" (perhaps scouts? ) and has a well-informed knowledge of what clubs throughout Europe are doing regarding player recruitment.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

17 Aug 2017 16:11:21
I think beanie states that it's not their articles just a collection of what's out their on line anyway. I agree about Ed002 his knowledge is unreal but don't forget the other Ed's as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Newsnow is simply a newsfeed - they don't provide any of the information themselves. What they will do is exclude using on line resources which don't meet certain critieria.}

17 Aug 2017 21:29:17
Meant to say newsnow. I hate predictive texts.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 17:55:41
Correct ed 002.I keep telling a few buddies of mine it's a news aggregator. looks for stories with certain criteria and provides a link. Eds, limited downloads as on holiday at moment. don't want u tobrepeat urselves but other than welbeck and dolberg rumours is there any other substantiated striker rumours that u are aware of for Everton right now. Appreciated!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any right now.}

17 Aug 2017 13:43:27
Many fans these days consider themselves modern, sophisticated, intelligent people and probably laugh at the superstitions and old wives' tales that previous generations believed in and perpetuated, BUT put a football transfer rumour on Twitter (or any social media or website) these days and even the most level-headed of us will suspend all reason and believe it.
We're all (me too! ) guilty of this - if only as wishful-thinking about "reported" transfers, no matter how preposterous some stories are.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

We often struggle to unlock defensive teams. Am I the only one that would like to see more use of Lookman, a fast player with clever feet.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

17 Aug 2017 13:09:57
Definitely, but like I said the other day on here I don't think he's ready to start 38 league games and play 90 minutes. I'd start him against the lower half teams that sit back and defended but bring him on for the last half hour against top half teams.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 13:16:12
As good as he is, he will be used sparingly not because of his lack of ability (he's got bags of that stuff) but as with most his age it'll be decision making in the final third. He'll get more game time as he develops.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 13:27:49
We may be different this season Glenn. That was with Lukaku as a focal point, we now have Sandro, Rooney, siggurdson and Klassen to unlock these. We managed against ruzemborom and stoke so far so good.

17 Aug 2017 09:40:04
What a refreshing change! Our cub is now being run well from top to bottom. Delighted with signings and more to come but I'm really impressed by the extra things the People's Club are now doing. Bradley's testimonial, house for struggling teens and stepping in to stream match (free) so fans can see to name the three latest. Of course these things also boost our profile in terms of marketing, fan base and finances and we need to be pro-active in marketing to compete. But at last the club seems to be running properly from top to bottom. COYB!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 13:31:03
I'd be surprised if he did go, I can only see this happening now if we bring another player in, we are lacking pace and he has it. but you never no, maybe he needs to go to give us the cash to get someone else, not sure how much we have left in the golden pot.

If the boy had any feelings toward the club he could sign a contract and put a termination Claus in it. Nothing high, just reasonable to ensure a club who is still willing to pay him handsomely whilst he recovers get something for him in the end.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 13:33:26
To be honest I'm glad he's not gone, I hope he gets his head down and finally sees what we are doing and wants to be a part of it, with the likes of Rooney, gilfi around him he can only get better, sign a new contract and become the player we all think he can be.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 13:34:16
Why Toffee Ace? He has a contract and he is stuck to it, the same way as if he wanted to leave half way through and we didn't want him to. He can agree a pre contract in January or sit it out till the summer. Alternatively he can sign again and stay. He has honoured his contract and that is becoming a rare thing lately and we have to respect him for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 17:27:56
Smit, I see your point and normally I’d say the same thing, but this lad has hardly showed a commitment to his contract. If he had a bid he would want to go. He’s not honering his contract the way you put it. He is a boyhood Evertonian who would rather play elswhere for less money if we are to believe what’s being written. I’m just saying he can do right by the club and have an opportunity of playing elsewhere and showing a little class in the process of leaving. Loads of supporters saying he’s been ill advised by his agents etc, but at some stage a man in his 20s has to take responsibility. If it comes across that I’m not impressed with the lad, it’s because I’m not.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Aug 2017 20:18:09
He has not put in a transfer request and he hasn't come out and said he wants to leave. Listen to the press if you want TA but he is honouring his contract.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im not privvy to that information im afraid JMW but i do know thats how it works, cost and availability will be the 2 main criteria and with it being relatively late in the window clubs will not want to lose players so it will not be easy or cheap mate..
