Minor issue but how did Swansea get away with their away kit that basically is a blue/'purpilish' shirt, I thought it was a real colour clash with ours.

come on you Naismith haters slag him off now, hard worker, scores goals, but not the finished article or a messi but he plays for EFC so get supporting him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - here here griff..

Haters will always hate mate. I'm a big fan of his, aways have been. But just wait till he misses a chance or does something that isn't quite perfect. Those haters will be back.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was probably his biggest 'hater', all of last season, but he's certainly doing a good job of changing my opinion. Still don't think he's got the technical ability to play in the Premier League, but his work rate and smart movement are really shining through and his finishing has really improved, so I'm happy to have him as part of the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

This isn't La Liga you know mate you don't need great technical ability to play in the premier league. I can't remember Cahill having great technical ability, but we all loved him. I feel sorry for Naisey as it seems his face doesn't fit and never will no matter what he does.

Agree0 Disagree0

There's a difference between 'not having great technical ability', like Cahill, and having no technical ability, like Naismith HAD (0 successful take-ons in a SEASON, as a winger. Ross had 8 against Chelsea in one game). Work rate can get you some distance in this league, but not into the top half (just ask Beckford). I've heard about Naismith having just come back from injury last season, so if that explains why now he is starting to demonstrate technical ability now, then that's fine. Either way, he's proving me wrong, and I'm glad.

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason he had 0 successful take ons in a season is because he's not a winger pure and simple, so it's a bit unfair to throw that at him. As Long as Bobby continues playing him centrally then we will have a very good player on our hands. The lads confidence is growing every game. So long it may continue.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will never understand where the criticism came from. Firstly, he joined us (for buttons) having had one of the worst injuries a footballer can have. He's scored vital poachers goals against Liverpool and Chelsea, he always puts in 100%, he wins every header he goes for, he has good natural attacking movement and is a natural born finisher. From the moment I saw him in pre season this year it looked like he meant businesses. He was by far our sharpest player after the summer break and seems to have gained the respect of most of the players. The fans who groan at him on a match day make me want to go and punch them in the face, such is my anger at seeing them turn on our own. Especially one giving his all. Yet Mirallas can skin 2 or 3 and miss blatant passes in his selfish way, blaze one over the bar and get applauded.

We'll another quarter final to look forward we will have virtually a full squad or thereabouts hope Howard is in goal that Robles makes me nervous every time I see him with the ball only 90 mins from wembley RM is right I home draw would be nice but arsenal will hopefully be very tired playing bayern Munich but they have looked that for the past couple of weeks against utd they looked dead on the feet ozil has never been in two competitions and league plus champions league so let's get behind our boys he who dares wins rodders this time next year we could have a new owner

{Ed025's Note - i dont want one to be honest mate..

16 Feb 2014 21:01:18
Constantly Naismith is slagged off on here and okay guys I know he's probably not the best striker we've ever signed but if he had been bought in the transfer window and was Spanish his goal scoring feats over the last month would have us purring.
He was free, he gives a 100% and he's bloody better than 'Bernie the Bolt' (young ones ask Dad) so give the lad some slack please!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you mushy, the guy gives 100% every time he plays, ok, so hes not the most gifted player i have ever seen, but i would take him over these over paid over hyped prima-donnas any day!...i have always championed the guy, i hope the rest of the guys who ridicule him see him for what he really is...an honest hard working professional, who wears the shirt with pride, oh how i wish they all showed the same committment..

Workrate aside I wasn't a massive fan of his last year. Thought his first touch was poor and he didn't offer much. That could have been down to not being suited playing out wide, getting used to the premiership, lack of confidence etc. This season however he has looked a different player. Never going to set the world alight, but has an eye for goal, works his socks off and can be used in a number of positions. Has made himself a very valuable asset for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

He had been out with a serious injury, so last year was too early to judge him. This is the real Naismith now. I think he is quality. I was at Chelsea last game of the season last year and he was our MOM by a mile.
Degsypulford

Agree0 Disagree0

He also has never had a run of games.
mushy I remember being very embarrassed about seeing Bernie in a blue shirt. by far the worst EFC player ever

First half we were poor - because because because - said it a million times - we sometimes think we don't have to close down the opposition and try to get the ball off them - we stand 3 yards off them and watch them on the ball - they think "great, everton are standing off the ball and watching us on it which means I have time to look up and play a pass unhurried" exactly what happened for the first goal which you could see coming for 10 minutes before it happened - we just stood off every time, and they closed down every time we had the ball - we were rubbish until we sorted that out out - I thought we were in for another 'Wigan' - why do we sometimes do that standing off thing?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not only standing off, I thought that we were taking a age to move forward, repeatedly passing sideways and backwards. Players didn't appear to be moving to aid the quick passing forward. It was driving me nuts as repeatedly it gave Swansea time to get back in numbers to defend. On the odd occasion Baines, Coleman and Pienaar worked well together good goal scoring opportunities were created, IMO.

Is it me or is jags woeful on the ball. He can't pass and nearly looses the ball every time by either his lack of skill or him waiting far too long to make a decision. Since the game against the red rubbish he has just got worse. On the other hand, Naismith looked a new man today. Really improved his game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - Didnt Naismith get injured?)

Jags has never been comfortable on the ball. He is however one of the best readers of the game and can step in with a tackle or block. That is one reason as to why we have one of the best defensive records in the premiership.

Naismith did get injured but he scored, got us a penalty and when he came on we looked much more of a threat. And as for jags I agree that he is good defensively but he makes me anxious when we have got the ball at the back.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Naismith is a hard worker, always has been, and has an incredible spring for a guy who is probably shorter than Tom Cruise)

So we will have to knock Arsenal out, then Man City in semi, winning cup by beating Wednesday 3-2 in the final!

And that year England won the World Cup Final.

Afternoon fellow blues.

Well we are through to last eight, but I have to say it was not a great performance for me. For an FA cup tie, we looked slow, pondering on the ball with a clear lack of movement. Credit to Swans they did press on us hard but we just looked. dare I say it unfit with no pace or vim.

A lot of the time we were 2nd to the ball especially in first half.

Credit to Naisy he changed the game. If you watch him he takes great positions around the box and has the ability to drift off defenders and find space.
Still no cutting edge for me and it may be down to a couple of players being a bit of key.

Nice to see Traore score, but evident that his 10 ft tall legs gave in after working pretty hard for an hour.

Hopefully Romelu will come back hungry and looking to get goals.

Unfortunately Joel did not instill me with confidence. He looks edgy every time ball is passed to him.

In the end job done, but we are going to have to tighten up at the back as too many holes starting to appear and I would have thought after the RS game lessons would have been learned.

Time to step on the gas again blues.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I said before the game that Howard should have started. To me Robles did not instil confidence in the back four and we looked vulnerable in the first half.
Traore took his debut goal well but offered little afterwards. He's got height but rarely looked like adding to his tally. Will he be started when Romelu returns? Can they start together?
I thought that Ossie had a good game as did Steven Naismith. He made the difference in the second half making great diagonal runs which eventually brought him his goal.
The main thing was we got past this tie and now face a difficult tie against Arsenal. At least the RS got beat which has made my night. We could and might have beaten Arsenal in the PL and certainly never disgraced ourselves so we are going to have to go there with confidence and hopefully a full strength squad to choose from.

Mike-Ox Long

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I may be wrong but for a 6ft 8inch tall striker, you would expect him to win at least 1 header.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you are being a bit harsh on Ossie again Mike. I thought the game changed when he and Naisey came on. His link up play was pretty good. On the other hand I thought McCarthy was poor today. and Traore. Beside the goal he did nowt. I don't think he won a header all game. he is 9ft 12" and can't win a header? It's all about opinions I guess.

looked okay degsy, didn't really do anything imo

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally i'd of give Miralles a 4, as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said in recent posts that Naismith is impressing me. He's really shown improvement and has been the key factor in our last few results. I don't think I was too harsh on the past, because more often than not he deserved it, but right now, he's been one of our best players.

Why did I know number eight was comin out next?!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let's look on the bright side, at least it's not city! Also our cup run has been fairly easy as of yet: QPR, Stevenage and Swansea, if we want to win the cup we are going to have to beat the best at some point! COYB

"Martinez has done no better that Moyes last year. But he relies on loans. Building nothing" From RS. Why the pokes from the dark side? Are they concerned that their best has come too soon and likely to fade? EFC are not playing on all cylinders at the moment but every team goes through a few games of under achievement. I fancy in the next 13 games EFC are likely to cause others to comment favourably. A final comment. RM has done much more than Moyes of last year. More points at this stage, more TV coverage because of the complete change in pleasing attack/retain, further in the FA Cup. Need to go on? Now scurry down you dark hole Mr Gob. e!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Because LfC are in denial. Despite their derby win they are convinced that they've won not only 4th place but also the EPL. Tonight they were put back in their place by an Arsenal side that were looking to put right last week's result into perspective.
We've now got to face a difficult tie at the Emirates but let's not forget that we gained a draw after dominating the second half with Del Boy showing his ability against an Arsenal side s**t scared of him in the closing stages.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who are LFC? Is that the team who haven't won a league for decades and decades despite spending 400+m in recent years? What have they built? Other than overhyped players' bank accounts.

Joel - shaky at best
Baines - ineffective
Jags- terrible today
Barry - sideways and slow
McCarthy- was he even playing
Pienaar - slow and weak

Good result rubbish performance, just boring really

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - done enough, but a lot of the guys looked tired to me clarkey, ah well, onwards and upwards as they say..

Barry was made MOTM by the official everton site, ummm what? He was useless IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow what an amazing summary of the game. Your posts are really good. Go support Liverpool Mr Hater

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because I'm critical does not mean I'm not a blue through and through, the result was good but if your happy with a bad performance like that I'm shocked. If you do not strive for perfection it will not be reached

Agree0 Disagree0

Admittedly I got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning so apologies for saying that. I was miffed though because your post had absolutely nothing positive in it. You couldn't find one thing to praise? That's what I meant by Liverpool, they just slate their team and see the worst. We are better than that. Whilst it wasn't a great performance it wasn't that bad mate. But out of order to say what I did so apologies again.

Agree0 Disagree0

No worries mate, just take that sort of insult to heart abit haha, my positives would have been: Distin is a beautiful man and is absolute class, Coleman the best RB in the league probably better than Baines now IMO, Barkley always looks threatening, Mirallas is electric and Naismith is much improved and a very hard worker!

Agree0 Disagree0

You've been here before spouting this pathetic drivel. The loan market exists. Deal with it you ignorant person.
