When your goalkeeper is the victim of a blatant foul that gives your oponants a last secondes equalizer, it's sort of your managers job to come out and at least say so, but if he is not willing to risk lossing a few quid from his big fat pay cheque, sure says a lot about his level of commitment. {Ed025's Note - i dont think that is the reason mate..

I am struggling with this news re David Moyses contract talks. Management is, amongst other things, about leadership and motivation. By saying "I'll see how we do in the Cup and League before deciding" sends all sorts of negative vibes. Is this a Manager saying, "Well players, it's all down to you now as I can no longer manage alone" This will affect the players who must be now thinking that the time is ticking down to abandon ship. It's a certain nail in the CL coffin. {Ed025's Note - its not great timing, is it?....maybe, (like baldrick)...he has a cunning plan..

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Let's face it we haven't got enough good players to maintain a top level for a whole season. It's the boards fault for not finding the cash when moyes needed it in January. Sods law says he will leave at the end of the season then all of a sudden there wil be new investment but we will then have a sucesession of money wasting managers {Ed025's Note - i agree that we are short on numbers, but no one can predict the future...we can still have a great season, and a great future..

Too all blues moaning about this that and the other regarding Oldhams goals needs to wake up, yes so what they played a league two ball in with a great header we should have had this game sewed up within the first 30 minutes instead we tried to play them at a game of hoof ball we just need to move on forget about this cock up and beat them at home t

You lot slagging off Jelavic need to have a hard look at yourselves. For a start, if Jelavic's form had been swapped around, as in his form from last season being swapped with this season, we'd all be saying he's the best thing simce sliced bread. He offers more to us than just goals. He gives 100% every game and although he isn't getting the goals he does so much running and usually has something to do with any of our goals scored. Prime example today, first goal, an assist to big Vic. We, has fans have very short memories. People were slagging big Vic off only 2-3 months ago. Have the faith that the boys will come good and so will Jelavic. He's a great striker so just get back behind him!

Come On You Blues!

Everton Al. {Ed025's Note - i still have faith in him al, but he does look out of sorts mate, he needs a couple of goals as a matter of urgency, although i would never question his commitment..

Believable2 Unbelievable2

It just annoys me when people come on here slagging him off amd saying we should sell him. They'll probably be the first ones saying he's class again when he starts finding the net. I think that Jelavic wants to score more than any of us. Not the best result today but we are still in it. Ed, well in for keeping the faith in Jelavic, I know I could count on you! Come on lads, let's get behind the lads hey!!

hard luck today but your still in it, could have done without the replay though, now heres the question for you ed, with moyes leaving looking likely to say the least where do you think he will go and who would you like to see him replace him. ps. I think he is going to chelsea or abroad
. thanks. {Ed025 's Note - i dont think he will leave mate...if he did..germany seems his preferred choice...my first choice would be martinez.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

There doesn't seem to be a team out there that would fit Moyes as good as Everton. Can't see him going to another prem team. can't see him going to Spain, Italy, France or Portugal. Which leaves Germany and Holland. Which team would be anyones guess though.

My choice to replace him would would be Frank De Boer, but I doubt we'd be able to get him.

Mike {Ed025's Note - he would want money to rebuild mike...and lets face it, our board is not exactly generous..

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Feb 2013 20:29:49
Sell Jelavic, every week he's missing chances. I've lost patience.

ToffeeMike {Ed025's Note - i must admit mike...he is awful at the minute, but im not giving up on him...yet..

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Don't know what has happened to him. Seems to have turned into a right donkey in front of goal. The chance he missed near the end when he was 1 on 1 and ballooned it over was a woeful finish.

Its not just him though, seeing Osman strolling around done my head in, Fellaini couldn't have seemed to care any less if he tried. Neville was awful, Pienaar looked disinterested. The only players to have any credit were Jags, Distin and Howard, the rest should be embarrassed with that performance.

Mike {Ed025's Note - the problem for me mike, was how we set up first half, trying to play them at their own game, or hoofball as its called...second half, we were much more in control, playing proper football.. we should not allow teams like this, to drag us down to to their level..

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes and his making strikers run the channel is what's ruined jelly great finisher who plays off the last defender yet now he's forced to work out wide, playing fell behind him don't help either as he's far from busy like Cahill was, mirallas annoys me more, moyes has already ruined him, no tricks flicks or loads of shots no runs at defenders he's now a poor winger thanks to moyes
Marouanes mop {Ed025's Note - bit unfair that mop..i agree about asking him to chase too much, but he had vic along side today, and was still poor mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Vic is hardly a busy strike partner ED I mean I run more than him sat on the couch, I'd love to see the jelavic that hovvers round the box ready to finish again, someone like Shane long or Charlie Austin to jooey for him chasing back wingers and hurrying defenders while jelly scores goals, we need a ball player too, and as much as he can't attack we need hibbo back too, so we have at least half a solid right side not agree ED?
Marouanes mop {Ed025's Note - it would be nice to try mop..

Agree0 Disagree0

ED why is Martinez your 1st choice may I ask? Everyone knows why I want di canio but I've never seen anywhere your reason as to why Martinez
Maruanes mop {Ed025's Note - plays good football, loyal, can work on a shoestring, and is good with the press....fits us like a glove mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Would di canio or de boer or bilic not interest you ed?
marouanes mop {ed025's note - di canio is a loose cannon mate, and de boer cant work within a tight budget, but bilic might be a good shout mop..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think di canio is perfect, just what we need someone ready to fight and be bitter and blue as they come, di canio would bring that like he's done at Swindon, he forces players to believe they are champions and that they should show it but I see where the loose cannon shouts from haha ofc big dunc would be good too, we'd win the league through players having fear of being knocked out if we don't

The Toffees drew 2-2 with the Latics at Boundary Park on Saturday evening and the two sides will replay at Goodison Park on 27 February at 7. 45pm.

Sixth round ties will be played the weekend 9 and 10 March, meaning the Premier League game at Arsenal will be rescheduled.

JUST CUT AND PASTED THIS OFF EFC SITE. OVER CONFIDENT?! {Ed025's Note - just the truth mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I hope yoo right ed! {Ed025's Note - trust me..i am..

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see what is so wrong about that. Just giving the fans that want to go to the Arsenal game a heads up, I mean I am sure plenty of fans will be looking at some accommodation or a day out or something in London based around the game so the club is just giving them a heads up and making sure they don't book anything right now. {Ed025's Note - plus we will beat oldham 8-0 in the replay..

Sorry my mistake, good luck for the replay, but I don't think you quite gave them the battering you promised. making out like we must have been just toooooo rubbish to lose to a smal time team like Oldham. Regardless of whether you are still in the competition, you guys didn't quite live up to the cockiness of most supporters did you? I'm sure the players would agree, it was a tough game {Ed025's Note - i expected it mate...these guys are fighting for their lives..

Ha ha- oh yes- I love soccer! Jesus wept they can't even get the basics right. Koppites- dear God.

As we've seen, Oldham away is not a given win, and we will do well to win and progress in a tournament already without Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Newcastle etc. and with at least 3 lower league sides still in. However, imho, Phil Neville should not play a Premier League game for us again. JUst not good enough *anymore*

AJ

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Nothing is a given in football if you don't have the right attitude, oldham much better, they want it more, we are just not playing well, looks like the confidence has gone. Should it not have been a free kick for their last minute goal, Howard clearly fouled, never mind going to have to do it at Goodison, could of done without a replay, surely we need to concentrate on league games. {Ed025's Note - i thought we done ok...fair play to oldham..

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree phil neville should not be a first team player anymore is past it and he's keeping good young players out either in midfield or right back he's slow can't beat a player and is getting caught at the back and constantly goes back towards his own goal when he gets into the other teams half seriously DM put him on the bench please he's had a good career

Agree0 Disagree0

Is Adrian Chiles the biggest pr*ck to ever walk planet earth? {Ed025's Note - its a close one..

I'd still say phil Thompson is the biggest person ever tbh, never known there to be a bigger person out there

OBut the 'jug eared one' (Chiles) is a football presenter and hasn't got the first clue about the sport. Moyes as usual playing to his strengths
Keeping all his options open all credit to him he is in a no loose situation let's any potential suitors no he's avaliable through the press but says he wants to see where team finish because if it's less than fourth and big players want to
Leave he will want reassurances there will be a big pot to rebuild because we will need major investment In the team
If this does not come he will walk away
Even if there is no major job on offer
As he will still have the respect of most
Of the fans and if all goes well and we
Do get proper money to spend he will no doubt resign on a even better contract

Lads, if an when Moyes leaves would anyone have Neil Lennon as manager? Or am I the only one whos thinks he's half decent. Rob Walker

Believable1 Unbelievable6

I would take him has the passion to be a good Everton manager. Dan1

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would Lennon leave Celtic, when they're guaranteed European football every season and play in front of home crowds often twice the size of Everton's and can afford transfer fees.
Fred Flintstone

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't rate Lennon at all. He has the easiest job in football managing Celtic. Whatever he wins doesn't matter as playing Mickey Mouse teams every week doesn't count.

Mike {Ed025's Note - i agree mike..

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I'm sure BK is aware of what DM wants and is realistic about what might and might not happen in the summer. I believe that the relationship between BK and DM is too honest for there to be any underhand politics at play - it's just as DM said re where the club finish the season.
Concerned Citizen

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree mate, feel that maybe in last transfer window cracks were starting to appear. ,. he knows we're his team is at. and knows squad strength is killing us. you can't question are team attitude or togetherness it's simply down to the board and ambition. he's never asked 4 much, it's was always going to come 2 this. its over to bill and board

16 Feb 2013 13:25:11
A ridiculous original post no doubt. I for one appreciate DM's honesty and will wish him well if he chooses to move on (who could really blame him. ) What bugs me however is that him not signing a contract potentially does the club out of a decent compensation payment which feels to me like he'd be kicking us while we're down.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Phil Thompson on sky what a person, he's buzzing that moyes could be goin. should not be allowed to comment on everton, he's like one of those biased people who sit in the boozer and don't go the match

If we lose tonight moyes should go anyway!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

No doubt he`s been good for Everton, but then Everton have been good for Moyes. Minimal compensation required though with only 4 months left on a contract. Personally, if he stays in England and moves clubs, my thought would be west Ham. Whether deemed a step down, they have a better squad there than when he took over at Everton and seem to have owners who aren`t scared of putting their hand in their pockets when required. Fat Sam can`t do much else and is out of contract in the summer ( God forbid he comes to Goodison, i`ll hang up my blue scarf if that happens ) but Moyes certainly has the ability to take them further. If he does leave then who replaces him? Laudrup is unproven and hasn`t had to build a side, Martinez constantly battles relegation so can`t build a complete side to move forward, Di Matteo could be an option, did well at MK Dons and WBA. Eddie Howe at Bournemouth is a young manager who`s doing well but maybe not experienced enough, maybe look abroad at the Dutch or German leagues? I hope Moyes stays but only if the board give him some backing, if not then we`ll be just treading water with the occasional bright spot to keep us interested. I don`t want Everton to just be making up the numbers, I want us competing with the others at the top and with a shout of a cup now and again. This all comes with investment, so let's speculate to accumulate or else we`ll be watching Championship footy in the not so distant future.

I think David Moyes will leave this summer and if he does the new manager will be Phil Neville. He is on the way down as a player, he would be cheap and he is hugely respected at the club.
It's a no brainer and I think he would do a good job.

Did anyone actually see the FULL interview with Moyes or just the snippet of it on sky?
He actually said he wants to see if the team progresses from last season weather it's league position or winning the cup and he said he wants some sort of European football (Europa or Champions League) so it shows that he has improved the team from last season before he thinks about signing a contract.
I think what he is thinking is, if the team just come's 7th or 8th again he will say to himself "well, I had a little bit of money in the summer and we haven't improved, maybe Iv'e took the team as far as I can". but if we finish 4th, 5th or 6th he will see that he has improved us and we have shown progression or if we win the FA cup.
Basically he wants to see a improvement on last season either league position or winning a trophy before committing his future to us.
I think we will finish higher than what we did last season and we have a brilliant chance of winning the FA Cup so I think Moyes will sign a new contract. Also remember him doing this 5 years ago when his last con tract was running low and he then signed in the summer. Stop worrying blue's. I'm not and whatever happens anyway Moyes has been here since 2002, Everton FC has been here since 1878.

If the board back moyes he will stay, he knows now its reached a point were he can't do no more, he doesn't want to be plucky nearly Rans,. its a no brainier the board are being asked to come out and back him, if they don't its sayin were not a club with ambition. they've hid behind moyes abilities, and as for the timing. what else can he say. I've heard a lot of blues sayin this team is the best since mid eighties, he's done that without real backing, add three or four quality players in the summer and who knows we're we will finish. back him because if they don't it means the new manager won't be getting backed. a slow decline anxiety and hostility on the terraces, recipe for disaster

(p. s. personally I think Moyes will stay)

Believable0 Unbelievable3

I actually quite like Brendan Rodgers, (having watched a lot of Swansea under him), think he is a good manager, who plays the right way. I doubt he will be getting sacked though.

Rafas CV is world class, however no chance of that one happening.

I think we will look at either Martinez (who I do not want) or Adkins (being the cheap option).

We have all heared the expression, no player is bigger than the club, well, with respect, no manager is biger than the club either, If a player with a year left on his contract first says he will sign, then says latter, then starts laying down conditions, Mr Moyes would not just sell him, he would go with a boot up the a. ,. It's time to sign or go, and I don't mean in three mounths time. Just like you MR Moyes, we do not like being f. t about.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I honestly think that this is just a bid to get a descent war chest ready for next season. If he does leave us, where is he going to go? If he stays in this country, he will only be taking a side ways step at best, because I can't see either Manc clubs, arse or chavski wanting him. I know he's said Germany, but is he the sort of person to move abroad? Would he get a top German team? If not this would be another sideways step. Anyway, I hope he stays! Blue Lee

My guess is that Moyes is waiting to see if we make Europe either through the league or the FA cup, if we don't he won't sign, he will probably then have some time off and wait for a position he likes to become availible possibly in the bundasliga everyone seems to have forgotten the hint he dropped earlier this season about wanting to mange in that 'up and coming league' just like guardiola!
We will have to replace him with an unheard of manager (just as he was) to be able to put up with the lack of funds hence their desire to impress in the premiership but we won't be putting together an attractive package for a new manager BK will probably see this as a way of saving a few quid!
