Does anyone know how Kieron Dowell is progressing in the U-23's? . Looked quite the talent last year and wondering if maybe he would be ready to make the step up next season.

He seems to drift in and out of games from the bits and pieces I've watched of him Gibbo.

Watching Diego Costa marked out the game today made me think a bit about Lukaku. I think he is starting to come of age. Yes he is sometimes marked out. But that is happening less frequently and his contribution isimproving each season. He is still very young and if he keeps improving will be some player. I know it is hope against hope, but I really hope we keep him.

{Ed025's Note - hes one of the best around degsy thats for sure, i cant see him staying with us to be honest and if the board members who dont want him back at chelsea relent...then he is a perfect replacement for costa who will join the chinese money go-round in summer mate..

I am not sure my post got the point I wanted to make over? Basically I am saying he is starting to look like the finished article. Last season he was hot and cold. I think he has now scored in his last 7 home games? Which coincidentally is our best ever run at home in the Premiership. His touch is improving and he seems to be working harder and harder and actually winning headers. I would keeep himat least the one season and make him honour at least that half of his remaining contract. By then we may be in the top 4 and like Koeman, I feel we are only 2 or 3 players away from being a really decent side. If we have to replace Lukaku and/ or Barkley, we willthen be 4/ 5 players away from being a really decent side.

{Ed025's Note - im afraid its virtually impossible to keep a player who wants to leave these days degsy, do we really want a player on the field who,s heart is not in it?, we have tried to convince him but he wants to go so we sell him and move on, massive loss i believe but who,s to say we wont get a replacement who offers a similar goal tally? things are still very bright for everton whatever happens imo mate..

Well his desire is to play for a champions league side I believe. Would he replace Costa? Maybe. Would he replace Ibrahimavic? Maybe. Assuming he wants to stay in UK then which other champions league clubs would he get a regular start in? Spurs have Kane. Maybe the red lot? They are after a center forward? There is a thought. Otherwise he could find himself warming a bench again? Does he want that? I am not sure it is as done and dusted as he would like. Everton are not going to give him away and he might have to go abroad.

when we got stuffed at Chelsea Costa gave Lukaku a masterclass as a striker, however the tables have turned over the season, Rom is looking top drawer when you look at the quality of goals he has scored this year!

And Costa didn't get a kick at Old Trafford wakka57.

All the talk of strikers defenders and goalkeepers yet I feel we are in dire need of a natural left sided midfielder/ wideman as Baines has no help offensively or defensively and we really haven't replaced Pienaar. The problem is who is available? I have faith that the manager sees this problem also and look forward to a productive summer of incoming as well as outgoings.

How long has mirallas got left on his contract? Isn't it only a year or so aswell? Hitting a good bit of form recently!

{Ed002's Note - 2018.}

I felt he had a good game last week against Leicester but yesterday he flittered in and out of the game far too much and left Baines isolated a lot. He reminds me a lot of Peter Beargrie in the way one week he looks so talented and the next looks bang average, consistency has never been his strong point.

This week he assisted with the corner for Jags goal. 2 last week. A goal a few weeks ago. I have been saying for weeks he is by far the best wide player we have. he was just injured and out of form for a while. Confidence?

He is a confidence player true. But I think there is a lack of consistency about him which is one of the reasons he hasn't had too many Head Turning opportunities to leave. On his day though he can really be the edge we need to win a game.

I agree Toffee Ace. But would add that the only way he would gain confidence was by playing. To bring in inferior wide players like Del Boy, McGeady and Lennon, then pick them ahead of Mirallas game after game only made the problem worse. I said to NBTB and a couple of others about 12 games ago that I could see the confidence flowing back in to Mirallas. Koeman started to make him a regular again. Look at our last 12 results. Look how Lukaku has banged the goals in and look how many goals and assists were from Mirallas. He has benefitted from the emergance of Tom Davies too. Yes it is not all down to Mirallas I would agree. But I have always thought that if you look on it by ability alone, then Mirallas is head and shoulders above our other wide players. So the job is simple. just get him playing well. Get him his confidence. Before Martinez started signing McGeady, Lennon and Del Boy, Mirallas was probably one of the best wide players around. By the time Martinez was sacked, he looked a shadow of the player signed by Moyes. And the 3 players are no where near the same level in my view. Del Boy has a certain ability but is less consistent than Mirallas. The other 2 are average at best. Lennon was 3rd choice at Spurs. but works hard. McGeady had ability but never showed it and both Del Boy and McGeady are terrible defensively. At least a fit Mirallas works his socks off and tracks back.

When Barkley scored the goal jumped in the crowd, patted the badge a million times, is that a player who wants to leave. That tells me he will be at Everton next season and beyond.
