Everton new signing ‎Henry Onyekuru, came on as a sub for Anderlect today and bagged a goal, got a standing ovation.

Hi guys,
Just been looking at the impact Lukaku's goals had on our season, this doesn't include his assits
In the 10 games we drew last year he scored a goal in 2 of them saving us 2 points
in the games we won we would have lost 1 drew 2 saving us a further 7 pts
this is very a very simplistic way of looking at the way his goals affected the results and as I said doesn't include his assists but on the whole his goals might not be as difficult to replace as it looks on paper.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

15 Jul 2017 16:54:11
Without his goals we would have still finished seventh, seen this stat a few weeks ago.

Agree5 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 18:32:01
Without his goals then we would have been without him and would have had someone else in his place. How many they would have scored and what effect they would have had on the points total would be anyones guess, but what we are certain of is we will find out this season.

15 Jul 2017 20:13:17
May have finished higher than 7th with a different striker netting in the close games.

16 Jul 2017 10:35:03
The dynamics seem different without Lukaku and don't look focused on an individual.

Whether it will be more successful we'll see but I prefer the burden shared around the squad rather than 1 or 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 Jul 2017 12:28:28
Got to remember that when he takes a chance at 0-0 v city puts us 1up with a fantastic first time finish puts you in the way to the win, it may not be the winning goal but vital in the end result and the game taking shape, stats stats stats, too much of it analysed, let's be be bigger and better than RL and move on, he's got clear weaknesses and is a great goalscorer, how good he becomes is no longer an interest to me, I'm interested in Rooney, Sandro, Klaasen etc and giving them. my full support.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - me too mate..

16 Jul 2017 13:02:58
Don't get bogged down with stats like that as I don't for one minute believe that if Lukaku was not there last season we would of finished 7th, I know stats don't lie but it's just coincidence that his 24 goals did not have same impact as Kane's, you only look at that now he has left. He's gone and we're moving forward and we don't have to play a game that are to Lukaku strengths, Sandro will be a right handful bit like costa is he will run and stretch defenders so I think we will play very different to what we have seen for while.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 16:16:01
Mourhino has said to some journalists that he's now noticed that Lukakus all round game is not brilliant. Well that's bad luck because there won't be a refund pal.

15 Jul 2017 19:46:46
That is comical isn't that what we've all said all along?
I saw some clip on Sky with him training out in LA with the rest of the squad and his first touch in a passing drill was horrific! Even the presenters commented on it.
So what reporters has Jose been saying this to? I need a good chuckle 😂😂.

Said it to some American journalists. He managed him at Chelsea so he must be aware of his strengths and weaknesses.

Few posts recently about Swansea taking the piss with 50mil valuation. This misses the point completely.

Swansea haven't valued him at 50mil based on how much other clubs have sold other players for. They've valued him at 50mil based on what he's worth to them. And considering without him they'd be in the championship by now, I think it's fair to say he's worth that much to the club.

It's now up to us, or Leicester, or anyone else interested, to decide if he's worth that much to us.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

15 Jul 2017 12:25:31
Agreed at, and I appreciate there is a media circus, but using words like bullied etc. not cricket if unfounded. that aside the fee is based on what they value him at. and any buyer will have to meet their valuation else not buy him.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 12:35:40
Spot on mate, a lot of people don't grasp a player's worth to their club.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 13:24:30
Absolutely spot on, price is irrelevant in today's market and I've noticed why all of a sudden more and more football fans are saying other clubs paying too much when this has been going on for years, I can't believe for the first time as an Everton fan my mates are saying we're paying over the odds or buying too many players. This is just a normal reaction, its because we're a threat to the usual clubs, and it shows, few years ago it was top 4, then when Man Utd weren't getting in it, then it was top 6 now all of a sudden Everton have power there saying it's top 7,
Look how much money they all through at it and none of them are any better than 5 or 6 years ago. My point is all these clubs have had millions of pounds of players that wer flops, I think we're spending wisely and looking at our squad are we really that far behind those other clubs.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 14:05:13
Totally agree Truebluemetz imho we are spending very wisely so far. Pickford, Klaassen, Sandro, and Keane all under 23 with big futures. Packing the U23's with quality also shows that a long term strategy is in place rather than trying to win the league immediately by throwing big money at players who are already developed or in later (prime) years of their careers.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 14:15:33
Wish every1 would stop going on about the money for siggurdson. If we get him we get him, if we don't we dont. let's just leave that to our club, they know a lot more than all of us put together. let's just do what fans are supposed to do an get behind whatever decision they make an support our beloved club. The next few years are going to be full of ups an downs but its promising to be building up to somethin special. I hope we could maybe win a trophy or 2 before we leave goodison an setlle in to our new home on the banks of the royal blue mersey. The signings made so far are exciting an basically give a new spine to the team an hopefully another couple should follow. What a time to be an evertonian an long may it continue.

Eds, reading Swansea statement about GS. strong words like ' bullied' being used and accusations of tapping up. Is there any legitimacy to what they have stated? . as I'm surprised given the clubs stance on such matters when they have had approaches from other parties in our players.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it sounds like sour grapes to me mate..

15 Jul 2017 11:33:15
Sound like trying to give the impression to the fans that " we did all we could to keep him. ". assuming Everton have played it by the book.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 14:23:23
We were annoyed in the past when the monied clubs were pursuing our players (Lescott, Stones, etc. ) , so just because we can now afford to spend big like they did, it doesn't mean that clubs like Swansea City aren't entitled to protect their assets and interests and react just as we used to.

Besides, it's obvious that even if Everton haven't officially spoken directly with the player, there would have been discussions with his agent and the player will know what's on offer.

It used to be that certain 'friendly' journalists were asked to have a quite word in the ear of a transfer target. That co-operation meant that they got exclusive stories from the club on a continuing basis.

Managers even used to telephone other club’s players - supposedly just for a friendly chat not mentioning a transfer, but the player could read between the lines.
It was also well known for players, especially when away in international squads, to have a quiet word at their own manager’s request with another club’s player.

These days, in the era of huge money in the Premier League, it's agents who are the go-between. Without them in the chain, it'd surely be difficult for transfer negotiations to really get anywhere under the regulations.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 14:26:17
Here is how I see what Swansea have said -

They stated that no agreement had been made to let Everton speak with the player, therefore if they did, they would be in breach of the rules and would be reported. And until they say that a club can (i. e. agree a fee) speak to him, that's their position. I don't see that as accusatory at all, certainly not for tapping up.

I think there's been an over reaction by some fans and as far as them saying that they won't be bullied, I see that as that they are basically telling the player that him downing tools will not force a move. I may be wrong like, but just the way I see it.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2017 11:47:17
Ed, it sounds to me as if they are communicating with their own club and preparing them for the worst. Making it sound like a no nonsense fight to keep their player when they're probably happy to get good money for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you may be right ace..

15 Jul 2017 08:58:02
Is there any interest in McCarthy, seemed at one point there were a few teams sniffing around but now it's all gone quiet. be nice if we could off load him for 20/ 25 million,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - newcastle and leicester are both interested heart and i would expect a couple more to get involved, he is still a very good player but we are very strong in that department at the moment mate..

15 Jul 2017 10:50:10
Thanks for the reply Ed and yes I do like him and he gives 100% every game, but think he's lacking that little bit of quality that we now need to move on.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

15 Jul 2017 13:06:57
I think the issue with McCarthy will be the international break when he wasn't 100% and then got injured, Koeman doesn't seem to take that stuff lightly and won't view him as reliable. Still a great player I just feel he burnt some bridges.

Morning all.
Just hearing Arsenal are prepping talks for a 35mill sale of Giroud to the Bundesliga.
Hope it's not the case but if so. We move on.
Just my opinion but I hope we take a stab a Celtics Dembele. We wanted him 2 seasons ago and offered less than a million now we can X's that by another 35 lol. A risk but I think a clever one.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i like him as well mowfee, im not sure that the giroud saga is a done deal yet though mate and he would be my first choice..

15 Jul 2017 10:09:41
Celtic won't let Dembele go until they have qualified for the champions league group stage. He's a big player for them and won't risk failing to qualify just to cash in.

Best moment was when I was a kid watching us live on the telly coming back from 0-2 to win the 1966 FA Cup final. From the depths of inconsolable despair to pure elation in half-an-hour.
Worst moment was five years later when I heard on the radio that we’d transferred Alan Ball to Arsenal. It took the best part of a decade and a half for us to become winners again.
Since both of those events - and as I've got older and learnt that being an Evertonian means living and coping with a roller-coaster of emotions - there have been too many other best/ worst moments (winning and losing key matches, players coming and going, good and bad chairmen/ owners, etc., etc. ) for me to pick the most important for me. I'm just glad that with Farhad Moshiri we’re back in a position just like when John Moores revitalised our club in the early 1960s.
