Does anyone know how many of Rom's goals are at home compared to away? I just have a sneaking feeling he is scoring many more at home. because of this pressing game and intensity that we do at home. When we are awaay and sitting deeper, he seems to get isolated. Maybe we need to think about our away performances and how we use him? He seems to be so isolated against some of the lower teams when we are away.

I shouldn't get to worried as our style of play will develop away from home as RK's influence takes greater hold. At the moment believe it or not the quality in depth is still not there and the process of identifying the players that fit RK's profile is ongoing. The summer and pre-season will see further changes for the better. This is only 7 1/ 2 months into an initial 2 year project on the playing side (longer on the commercial and new stadium side) , but our progress has been in my view ahead of schedule so far.

Well I was probably the most negative one on here under Martinez. But as soon as we got Walsh I was happy. A couple of other posters on here were also "critical" of my posts but in a positive way and I would like to say a public thank you to these guys because I could see that it really was starting to be out with the old and in with the new. NBTB was one and also BlueJohn Uns. Others also helped me see that at last progress was indeed being made. don't get me wrong, I can still see setbacks ahead. but not the impending relegation that I really could see coming under Martinez. I used to use the "r" word and be heavily criticised for it. I now use the "E" word. but cautiously. Yes Rom might decide to leave. But we will surely get in the region of 100 million for him now? At 23 with a guaranteed 20+ goals a season with a struggling club. he must be looking at 40 goals a season by the time he is 26 years old in a winning side! That with Walsh's keen eye will surely mean 3 decent players. You can see the quality of our recent young signings. You can also see our defence toughening up. particularly at set pieces. You can see how the pressing game works when all the players are in tune. I am hoping we will make a couple more good signings in the summer and let the older players move on. We still might get the odd frustrating game. but wow what a difference to a season ago! Finally it is worth mentioning it is nice to see us change shape mid games to try and get a winner or equaliser. Koeman is quite astute at seeing how we need to move extra into midfield or press higher or have more width. and he does it. I love the way he says it like it is. Why waffle around something when it clearly is not right!

It's 8 home goals to 7 away goals this season at least, so not much difference. That being said, he does appear to get more chances at home. It's amazing what 4 or 5 months has changed for you Degsy. You have gone from the most negative by a country mile to probably being in the top 5 most positive. It's nice to see you so upbeat. I will be satisfied if we stay in 7th (as I would have taken that at the start of the season) but I will be over the moon if we manage to improve on 7th by the end of the season. Exciting times ahead!

the only thing I don't agree with is, you say Lukaku will leave and we will command 100 million as he is scoring 20+ for a struggling side. first we would struggle to get 60 million so 100 million is dream land, 2nd we are no longer a struggling side.

we are a team moving up 7th in the premiership is probably 3rd in la liga by comparison and we really need to lose this mentality that our better players are going to leave us. as his agent said we are a different beast now. do you remember when Lukaku first signed up with this clown, he said he would never of signed for us if he was his agent.

now since moshiri came in he has done a complete u turn and wants lukaku to sign a new deal which benefits both sides and guarantees top dollar for lukaku ie wages and us a transfer fee.

the difference being we will hold the all the cards and will only accept a bid if it suits us. I don't think lukaku is now pushing to leave and willing to wait 2 seasons (including this one) to see if we can challenge.

so all I'm saying is our club is now run like a top premiership club (with some changes still needed). so it's time for us fans to behave the same. if lukaku comes out and says he wants to go goodbye and good luck, but unless he puts a transfer request in, he is staying anyway. come on you mighty blues.

The re-emergence of everton is coupled with degsy positivity. Is it a coincidence. Keep up the positive posts and enjoy the new journey like the rest of us.

I think we all felt the way you did at some point over the past 2 years Degsy. For me you're a passionate supporter that worships the blues.

We all don't agree on certain things and that's the beauty of a place like this, to get a different perspective.

I know though we will all be thinking and feeling the same thing when we win a trophy in the next couple of years or so. Fingers and everything else crossed 😉.

BLUEY79 I never said he WOULD leave. just that it is a possibility and surely by the time (if he does) leaves. he will be worth 100mil. Pogba went for 85 mill!

Firstly let me say that I can see a lot of positive thing happening to our club. Moshiri, Koeman and Walsh are great additions and we seem to be moving forward from a business viewpoint. However, on the business side I will not be happy until I see the new stadium on the dock signed and sealed. I have been through one "ring fenced" scenario and I don't want to go through another.
On the playing side Koeman has done a lot of good things and I am very please with what I see. However I was positive about Martinez during his first year and then it went belly up. Koeman has been fortunate in having Lukaku who Martinez signed and also having the benefit of Davies and Holgate coming through to the first team. I know he is the one that gave them the chance but he did not bring them to the club. No doubt Koeman has improved the existing players especially from a fitness viewpoint. However he still has a lot of work to do in recruiting players and keeping key players like Lukaku.
So summing this up I see a lot of positives with the Koeman reign but I am not over the moon just yet. Let's see how we finish off the year and what reinforcements we bring in in the summer before we get too carried away with this new found optimism.
Mike.

We all see things differently. Who knows what would happen if Lukaku leaves? It could turn out to be a positive thing. Don't get me wrong, the last thing I want is Lukaku gone.

Back when Lineker left everyone thought we would struggle the following season without him. Everyone knows we went one better the following season and took the cup. Point is it was a blessing in disguise.

Not saying for one minute we should let Lukaku go but the point is everything would if he left. No one knows whether the end result would be positive, negative or indifferent. We can all be clever in hindsight.

This is truly what I hope happens. Lukaku stays for the long term and Koeman builds a good team around him. I honestly think we are not far off challenging at the top. If we keep going in the direction we are we will get there sooner than people think imho.

Chelsea are out on there own this season but the following 5 teams are very close to each other. I expect us to be challenging and competing as much as any of these 5 come the end of next season. A bit of luck and Walsh working his magic during the summer would make it very achievable imho.

To further add to your point NBTB, when Rooney left after we finished 17th we all thought that was it, but we finished 4th that season (don't know how looking at that team lol) .

I agree that losing Lukaku may not be the end for our top 4 hopes next season, as Walsh will surely be able to find a gem or two to replace him, but I am worried about a scenario where Koeman and Lukaku leave.

That being said, if you read the Echo article about the Koeman-Barcelona link, then it becomes clear that Koeman may not be the best fit for Barcelona. Koeman is too outspoken, and also does not like superstars in the dressing room. At the moment Messi, Suarez and Neymar are almost bigger than the club itself and may not appreciate Koeman's style of management. As I said before though, if Barcelona offer Koeman a contract he will bite their hands off for it.

Just a small concern, folks.

After Barcelona got trounced last night and it looking increasingly likely Enrique will leave at the end of the season, I have a huge worry they may try to move for koeman.

I hope he stays because he is showing signs of building a whole club ethos and his methods are getting into the players.

But. who can resist Barcelona if they call?

Too many ifs and buts to really get concerned. 1. will Barcelona sack Enrique? 2. will they really want Koeman already? 3. is there anyone else they are considering? . yes it may happen but I wouldn't worry too much.

Probably not the best time to go to Barcelona, their team albeit full of world class players is showing its age. Besides koeman has a chance to take Everton to the top of what is the best league in the world. That is why we have Mourhino, Guardiola, Klopp, wenger and Koeman managing in this league.

All very true and maybe Guardiola is struggling in this country, it may be an excuse for him to go back to Barca.

Could be a big plus, the board are right behind Ronnie, so it's a big win for Everton, he has all the amour he needs to rebuild big in the summer if he stays, with the board investing big on players to keep Ronnie, every cloud has a Silver lining.

I don't think it's a case of whether or not Koeman will go to Barcelona, as I'm fairly certain he will if given the chance. It is however a case of whether they want him or not. They will have a shortlist of several managers (mentioned on the Barcelona page) and will decide who they feel is best for them.
