And still people keep moaning about the money we have or haven't spent!
Fellow Blues what's important is not how much we spend what is important is we back and support those who turn out for our great club, they have our hopes and dreams in their hands so let's focus on that and not the current balance sheet!

I know it won't happen but if we went and got Costa now I think we're title contenders I really do.
I think we could get him at a bargain price considering his and Chelsea position.
I know he wants Athletico Madrid but can't play till January for them so what about this
We sign Costa for say £30m he gets to play full season with a World Cup year coming up, we then sell him to madrid for the same price, everyone wins.
We get top player
Madrid get there man next season
Costa plays regular
Spain have him playing week in week out
And gives us a great chance to get champions league and able to attract replacement of an A list striker next summer.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2017 22:38:29
Or another option is we negotiate with Madrid to sign him and loan to us for a year for a loan fee, lowers our risk, they have their player next summer when Griezmann leaves.
Pure fantasy football though.

15 Aug 2017 22:42:13
Have you seen what this player is doing at the moment. Why would you go anywhere near him. He's disruptive, has a bad reputation in the dressing room and wants everything his own way. In what crazy world do you think he is what this TEAM needs?

You're as mad as him!

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 22:55:26
How about this. Probably the most realistic outcome.

We sign him from Chelsea for 30mil. He starts his first game. He's not working hard enough and Koeman tells him to up his game after 30 mins in the first half. Costa signals to be subbed because he doesn't like being told what to do. Costa walks down the tunnel gets in a cab down to liverpool airport and on a flight to Brazil and WE end up paying 330k a week until his dream move back to Madrid happens!

15 Aug 2017 23:21:01
Love it imagine trying to get that deal done.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 23:02:27
Or we sign him. He pisses everyone off, and then buggers off to Madrid. Can't see any flaws in this plan.
Seriously, great idea just can't see it happening though.

{Ed025's Note - i echo that oscar mate..

15 Aug 2017 22:27:36
Same with gylfi at Swansea didn't request a transfer didn't kick off just done everything in private and showed some respect to swanseas who gave him two
Oppurtuties in the Orem to showcase his skills and make some serous money.

Spot on Oscar.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 21:53:04
So with Barry gone and Gylfi in (almost) it kind of sends a message to Newcastle and anyone else interested in McArthy that they won't be getting him on the cheap. We have offloaded a big wage cost in Barry so we are not under any pressure to rush a deal.

So impressed with EFC with the way they are controlling almost all the serious transfers they have been involved with, in or out.

{Ed025's Note - very much so ace..

Hi ED 25 How do you feel about Barry leaving us I would liked to keep him but fair play to him he will play lot games there. Made up we have agreed fee for sigurdsson now get target man and cb and shut shop.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - gareth has been a really good player for us bretto imo, not blessed with the greatest pace but always gave 100%, good luck to the guy i say and thank him for his service, made up with silky gylfi and for me if we could just get a top front man mate i can live with the defence..

15 Aug 2017 21:57:52
ye ed I've heard few things about dendonker from anderletch apparently were interested in him as mccarthy could be off to newcastle and we want him dendoker as he can play cb aswell.

Gareth Barry is an example to players all over the world on how to conduct yourself as a top professional.

I wish him nothing but the best of luck at West Brom. They are lucky to have him and we will miss his experience.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2017 21:28:57
We must of needed that money from the Barry transfer to complete (joke) he improves the team the manager and Steve Walsh wants him let's get behind him and hopefully get a big target man in to get on the end of those lovely crosses and free kicks.

15 Aug 2017 21:45:51

I think we're all learning that money is nothing we will understand as fans and the player and what they offer to the team is more important.

Welcome to Everton Sig.

15 Aug 2017 21:46:19
How are people putting a value on him when you see what other players are going for I think we have got a top class player, coutinho is probably technically more gifted in terms of going past people but sigurdsson provides more productivity as koeman puts it which at the end of the day that's what it's about goals and assists.
To me £45m for what he brings is money well spent.

15 Aug 2017 20:30:07

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Aug 2017 20:27:06
They reckon that takes our spending to 131 mill. So Koeman and his 7 mill spend isn't far wrong by my calculations. Probably Barry to WBA on a free (no probs with that) Barkley out for 25 Mill (no less) , McArthy about 20 to Newcastle and that is our spend with change recovered.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 20:33:54
I was beginning to think he was a fictional character.

15 Aug 2017 19:20:25
Anyone else wondering if EFC haven't really changed regarding transfer spending? Start of the window looked good with a number of RK targets being brought in. However, things seem to have stalled; with Gareth Barry departure imminent Everton's net spend moves to around 5 to 6 mil depending on what we get for him, McCarthy going could potentially move us into net profit - possibly 50 mil profit if RB sale goes through? We seem to be dragging our feet over 5 mil for the GS deal? Call me cynical but this looks like the same old Everton to me.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

15 Aug 2017 20:05:22
Forget about money for a moment. Are we a better side? Yes we are.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 20:14:57
Come off it we have just agreed £45 mill with Swansea tonight and medical tomorrow, blimey as Pierre says we are vastsly improved and by the end of this window we will be aforce in the Premiership, GuernseyBlue.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 20:31:07
With more to come, I reckon as well. Left CB/ RB cover, a big target man and with Sigurdson that is the three that Koeman alluded to. So yes if that happens we will certainly be a much stronger side. One thing if the 45 mill is true, then once again either the Papers (probably) have been wildly wide of the mark or something more than the fee was holding the deal up. We will know by Thursday.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 20:38:45
Bet that's what it was mate the usual rags crap, sometimes we are too quick too judge, GuernseyBlue.

15 Aug 2017 20:41:34
Didn't realise BK and the board visited this site! Looks like my post did the trick;) Watch how quickly now the RB and JMc deals go through. Yes I agree the team is improving but just making a point about the balance sheet. We still need proven goal scorer and defensive cover so I think there may be a few more players out first.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 20:43:38
Just to put this into perspective. We once had a summer of selling Arteta and getting Straquilersky and Drenthe on loan. Now compare that nightmare to buying a Man U captain, an Ajax captain, the best young English keeper, and possibly one of the best young centre backs in England. An up an coming Barcelona graduate, Gylfi freaking Sigurdsson, a Boston load of under we talent plus more to come. So yeah, same old Everton. Now please STOP.

Hi Eds,

I have a transfer question that has been puzzling me for years.

Is there a maximum number of years a player can sign for a club?

I have noticed that no one seems to be signing for more than 5 years no matter how big the club or the player are.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think 6 is the maximum grumpy but its usually stated as 5 years with the option of a sixth mate..

15 Aug 2017 20:51:50
It wasn't a player but didn't Pardew get an 8 year contract as manager at Newcastle?

Rumour coming out that Koeman is becoming increasingly frustrated with the board who haven't delivered his targets. Tense situation apparently, you heard anything ed?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - no to be honest jipster, but i can see why those sort of rumours are being bandied around mate..

15 Aug 2017 15:07:05
Hi Ed! . starting to get a little nervous over the Sigi saga. The silence on the matter is starting to become defening or is it me being paranoid.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its not you rich, i think we are all a bit fed up with it dragging on, either pay the money or scrap the whole thing for me mate..

15 Aug 2017 13:26:36
With Barry off to WBA, Barkley also supposedly on his way before the window shuts and rumours of McCarthy close to a move to join the fat Spanish waiter, and the fact Mo can't stay fit for 90 minutes I think you can add a centre mid to the forward, winger and centre half/ left back we still need.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2017 18:12:22
Given the speed of the initial signings and given the rumour if true that Everton and Swansea were less than 5 mill apart in the Sigurdson valuation it is very hard to understand the reason why it has taken so much time for completion. My theory (and I know the majority will not like it) , is that those initial signings were done on the strength of the already done deal for Lukaku and the money that brought in (90-100 Mill) . We are now waiting for either more money to hit the correct accounting column, whether that is raised, agreed payment period (for new players) , new investment (from owner/ partners) or all of the above.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i have to disagree BCT, i think money is available and has been from the start, its getting the right players for the right money i feel mate..

15 Aug 2017 18:32:24
That said Ed025 and money is available, 1. Everton and Swansea being (apparently) less than 5 mill apart 2. Koeman has indicated that Sigurdson is the difference that can make us top 6 and maybe higher. 3. City bought Walker (obviously worth less than 50 mill) and did not baulk, in order to improve. I can only say again, it is very hard to see what is holding them up and Koemans frustration understandable.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - yeah i can see that BCT and the gylfi situation seems bazaar, but to imply that we are only spending money on the back of lukaku leaving is not really the case i feel mate..

15 Aug 2017 19:43:57
Surely it's to do with Swansea being able to secure what they see as a suitable replacement? Sig kept them up last season and could be the difference between them getting relegated and staying up again this season, so understand why they wouldn't let him go before knowing they've bagged someone.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2017 12:40:11
Bill Besic is ok, not sure what Koeman thinks if him as he's used him as CB all pre-season. But think we can buy better and we had better in barry if its to shore up a lead late on in the game.

15 Aug 2017 12:34:06
In our pursuit of another striker, now I know this fella didn't and hasn't really lived up to expectations but. Vincent Jannsen from Spurs?
Scored plenty in the dutch league which granted is an easier league, surely a loan deal could be a goer.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

15 Aug 2017 15:19:38
Could be a shrewd move only sticking point is I am sure I read a report that Jannsen said that Koeman didn't rate him as a youngster. Hope Koeman doesn't hold a grudge.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

15 Aug 2017 12:09:48
Its more a case of having Besic and McCarthy both still on the books and ahead of Gaz in the pecking order, add to that both Schneids and Gana, its squad numbers being reduced I would say.
I wish him well and he has been a good solid performer whilst he was with us and a model professional.
Our fairplay points will improve now haha.
