He'll yeaaaaah.

On bbc that an unnamed prem club has bid 72m for James Rodriguez. Could Danny g be telling the truth.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - James Rodriguez is not subject to a bid from Everton and will not be joining Everton.}

15 Aug 2016 23:52:49
ed you don't know it's not everton.

{Ed002's Note - It is NOT Everton.}

16 Aug 2016 00:12:07
Im not having a go or anything but people can make up there own minds when deciding there own future, so he could suprise everyone and join us and we could easy afford his wages and transfer fee but unfortunatly, ffp dictates that we cant, so i'm with ed002 on this one to say it probably isn't us who has bid.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It isn't Everton who has made an offer.}

16 Aug 2016 00:13:28
Is Rodriguez the iron in the fire for Chelsea. Ed keeps mentioning they are looking at someone other than lukaku at the moment.

16 Aug 2016 00:23:35
Ok ed002 cheers. Tbf i haven't seen anything about a previous club bedding for him. do you have an idea who has bid.

Reports are it is Chelsea who have bid.

Chelsea i reckon it could happen aswell. Slimani come of be a goer not to sure on how good the lad is though if I'm honest.

Sometimes a little caustic but by heck you have to admire Ed002's patience. As they say 'I couldn't do his job'.

Ed know anything about what Danny Gabbidon was saying last night about us being after a top top player? . As far as you're concerned any truth in it or just nonesense? .

I am aware he said trying to get and getting and trying are two very different things. I'd like to try and get a date with Scarlett Johannsen buts it's not going to happen.

Guys, why does it matter how much money we spend? Surely it's about getting the t=right players not spending tonnes of money. So what if we don't spend 100mil as long as we get the squad RK wants then I am happy.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i agree Tmh..

15 Aug 2016 22:10:53
i was worried a few weeks ago it's looking like there's s plan coming together now Mosh iris wanted a model in place koeman wanted to study our squad before making any rash decisions. To be fair everything that got said is happening maybe not as fast as some would like but I'd rather be patient and get the right players in.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 18:10:27
It said by Moshi on Sky interview that Kenwright is anxiously persuing strengthening the squad with his total support and that of RK and Walsh. So, how about a well done Bill, especially when he's not in great health.

Great posts. The man has put everything into the club and again with Moshri it looks like he's brought the righg man to the club. He could have sat on his ass like most of the other shareholders and done nothing for the club.

Be grateful, very grateful blues.

squad coming together bolaise good signing next cb looking like abdennour or kone and striker or 2. what's your thoughts ed 25.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im happy about bolaise bretto, not too sure on abdennour though as i have not seen enough of him to form an opinion, a striker is definitely needed even if we keep lukaku though and i just hope we dont lose rom at the last minute and dont have time to replace him mate..

15 Aug 2016 20:50:22
ye agree seen abdennour couples time for as Monaco and he looked good. we need striker but one's who good are hard to find.

West brom have bid £21m for slimani. Let's just bid £25m and get it done!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2016 17:16:57
Why? We need 1 striker at least 2 probably, 3 if Rom goes, but why just bid above them for him? If you were the head purchaser of a company what does this guy have that David Nugent doesn't? Why would we spend anything on a player because another club likes them? What does the asset bring to the company? Is he going to make us 25 million?
Before you answer with what does Bolasie do, it's not my job to get the ok from the ceo it's Walsh's
I just really really don't like the attitude you show. Paper says we are interested, paper says west brom bid so now we have to get at all costs?
Don't enter poker tournaments mate you'd be a dream.

15 Aug 2016 17:52:23
Who's rattled your cage Svenny. I think its a good shout to outbid WBA for Slimani. Good striker, scored 30 goals last Season along with assists and only 10mil more than Niasse. He's a Striker and they cost more than any other players as they are a priceless commodity. So you pay the rate if its a goalscorer and he's healthy. Unlike the rumour of Austin, who has done FA at Southampton and is injured more than Gibson! We have the money, if Koemans interested we will go for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 17:58:59
Chill out Svenny. Aches is looking at the players record I'm sure. And if we do want him then WBA might just have forced our hand.

We have been linked with him in the past few windows I believe and Ed 02 has also said there's interest. Although if I'm wrong I'm sure Ed will correct me and fair enough.

Bit harsh on Aches that.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 17:59:29
Svenny, Slimani scored more goals in a more difficult league than David Nugent 😂, seriously why are you comparing those 2 players.
I get what you're saying but the point the OP is trying to make is that if he actually is a Koeman target then we shouldn't be outbid by west brom for him.

Odds slashed on Hart now. How ironic if he signs that he taps up Stones and ends up going the other way! 😳.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2016 18:03:17
I believe that the stumbling bloc to getting Hart would be his wages. Not sure what he is on but 200k a week has been reported. City pay ridiculously high wages which we can't match, nor should we.

15 Aug 2016 13:08:14
I'm not sure about the GK situation to be honest we have brought in a experienced GK who yes is not going to be no1 long term but Koeman trusts him and I think he will wait and see, there are possibly 2 GK he would like Forster or Schmeichel which both deals would be difficult to do because of the Koeman and Walsh deals we may have to wait 6-12months, I'm not sold on Hart yes he is a good keeper but playedmost of the time in a side that don't have to do a lot and he is not going to get any better, also our keeper saved us a point Saturday weather a draw was fair or not he saved us from loosing a game yesterday and from what I saw so far he is good shot stopper and very commanding in the air maybe only weakness is ball distribution which is Harts weakness so I say we wait and try and get Forster or Butland who can give us 10years between the sticks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

15 Aug 2016 14:15:51
Made a change to see a goalkeeper of ours not only making reaction saves but who knows not to piss about with the ball when it is not safe to do so.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 14:28:45
I know it was the 1st game but Schmeichel looked a bit suspect on a couple of occasions yesterday. If we're going to make a statement in the transfer market then throw about £40m at Stoke for Butland and see how they react.

Agree0 Disagree2

15 Aug 2016 14:40:56
I don't see anything wrong with Hart and feel he would fit in well with the team. My first choice would be Schmeichel but we are not going to get him as he has only just signed a new contract with Leicester.

Agree0 Disagree1

15 Aug 2016 10:39:07
Ed, just wondering if you can shed some light on something. If a club actively want to sell someone (fingers crossed for mcgeady, kone and niasse) is it the club that approaches others to make them aware of the availability or is it the players agents, or both?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Typically the agents.}

15 Aug 2016 08:52:13
I'm a little confused; a lot of people are posting stating their desire to sign a new keeper. Have we not just signed one, who has earned is a point against a champions league team? Surely Skekelengburg deserves a chance? He looks a very good keeper and there are definitely other areas of the team that need strengthening.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

15 Aug 2016 10:04:17
Personally, id like to set Walsh a task of finding a young keeper with a lot of potential (I'm not knowledgeable enough about our youth players to know if we have any already) . With stek we have a very experienced keeper. Would be good to get the best out of that.

This is unless we are going big for a butland/ forster which I can't see.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 12:08:52
Robles came into the team last year and played well with a number of clean sheets, I think both keepers are ok and be happy good back ups but over the course of the season they will make to many mistakes, we need to invest in a first team keeper that will be inbetween the stick for the next few years. Whether that's Hart, Butland or Forster.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 12:19:09
id Steklenburg cost 20 million everyone would be raving about him, he has done nothing wrong and has shown some class saves, should give him a chance.

RK has been quoted about Deulofeu, Mirallas and Barkley:
"You see with Gerard, it is still not for 90 minutes, " he said. "With Gerard, with Kevin. I like the players, but they need to run more. They need to do more, they need to press more. It's all about the work rate of the player. Sometimes it's difficult because for that creative player, sometimes you're a little bit more sloppy in that aspect of football. "
"But we will work on it, and you saw Ross in the second half working hard for the team. It is not a question of how good his technique is or how good his first touch is, it's about him needing to take more responsibility for the team and to do a job defending also. That makes the team stronger. "
"We will learn that, no problem. "

Those words make me wonder if Juan Mata really is a player that RK wants, as he doesn't seem to be the sort of player who will press and close down - whatever his creative talents might be.

How refreshing is it to hear our manager talk like this though Sid!

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 08:29:57
Good point Sid, I agree I think we are going to undergo a massive improvement under this manager.
We have really neglected the physical aspects of the game over the last couple of years.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 09:33:17
Don't think we will see Mata in an Everton shirt in the foreseeable future not RKs type of player I think he will stick with Ross, Delboy or maybe Tarashaj try to develop their games.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 10:16:27
I'm pretty sure Mata is not for sale. It's great to see and hear though sid an Everton manager understanding that going forward is only part of the game and that defenfing is equally important.

The good thing about Koeman is that what he says is mirrored by our thoughts and it doesn't feel like we are watching different games anymore.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 11:00:30
Mata would be too much money fro his age anyway, better getting a younger man in, Rome wasn’t built in a day and we are certainly heading in the right direction, as for Hart good goalie but at what price? .

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 11:55:28
Money doesn't come into jonno. If you need a player in a certain position and you have the ability financially to make a deal happen, then you just buy the player.

Don't be concerned about how much a player costs or whether you should do it due to age as it will just make you go cross eyed when you try to understand how it all works.

The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (ACN) finals tournament takes place early next year from 14th January to 5th February.
During that period, we have several Premier League matches scheduled and could also be involved in Football League Cup and FA Cup matches.
We would have to release our African players if required by their countries.
As it stands, we have Arouna Koné (but I believe he hasn't played for Côte d'Ivoire since 2013) , Oumar Niasse (of Senegal - but likely to be leaving Everton) , and Idrissa Gueye (also of Senegal) . Senegal have already qualified for the finals, while Côte d'Ivoire currently sit top of their qualifying group.
We look likely to sign Yannick Bolasie, who plays for DR Congo and they currently sit top of their qualifying group.
We're reportedly interested in Lamine Koné (Côte d'Ivoire) , Aymen Abdennour (Tunisia - currently second in their qualifying group) , and Rachid Ghezzal and Islam Slimani (both of Algeria - who have already qualified for the finals) . We may also be interested in other African players, but I'm not aware who.
My point is that we could be without several players at a crucial part of the season.
We have to release our international players at other times - albeit during official FIFA/ UEFA international breaks when there are no Premier League fixtures - but the ACN clashes with Premier League (and cup) matches. Clubs know this when they sign players, so can't really complain.
However, does anyone of our fans/ posters care to express an opinion?

I would prefer we had good players, who ever two years, go missing for a few weeks, rather than second rate player here all year round, and if they have put us in a strong position, then the squad player should be champing at to bit to push their own case.

That's exactly my own view as well JCW100.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 07:32:48
It's cost us and other teams in the past. One, maybe two first-teamers, if the squad is strong, can be coped with. Three or more can be devastating to the season at a time when (a) other squad members may have picked up injuries, and (b) the schedule of matches is intense, especially if we're still in the league cup. Then the African players themselves come back tired and maybe injured, we have to release them to work with physios, coaches and managers and to play on pitches we have no control over. The dates Sid states are for the tournament itself, but of course players are always called early to acclimatise and train with the national squads and rarely come straight back into the EPL team as soon as they return from the ACN. The reality is these players will miss 6-7 league matches, the 3rd and 4th rounds of the FA Cup and - should we still be involved - both legs of the league cup semi-final, and more if something goes wrong at the ACN. That's a minimum of 15-18% of the EPL SEASON, plus those cup games. If the player is at least 15-18% better than any alternative we could get (Gueye might be, for example) , then sure, it's worth the risk; otherwise, it's a real issue for me.

We won't be the only team to lose players at this time. I wouldn't even worry about it.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Aug 2016 09:43:48
Made this point last week we could loose the spine of the team which does give case for concern. One or two players I think we could cope with but not too many 1st team regulars.
