Congratulations to Rhino, his staff and all the players on winning the Premier League Two tonight. Great achievement for all involved. Quite a few inside Goodison to witness the youngsters get the three points required. Here's my take on the players, first 11 only.
Joao Virginia 6, Not much to do really but was solid throughout. Couple of wild kicks that went out of play and one flap in the 1st half.
Ryan Astley 6, put a few decent balls through, good going forward when he got the chance.
Brendan Galloway 6, nothing spectacular, did his job well.
Nathan Markelo 6, didn't show enough for me and first half passed him by. Improved after the break but needs to get involved more.
Morgan Feeney 8, very vocal, organised the defence well, strong in the tackle and good distribution. Needs to bulk up a bit if he's to make the 1st team but impressive performance from the skipper.
Lewis Gibson 7, would score higher if he didn't give away a soft penalty. Great understanding with Feeney, looks good on the ball and defends very well. His physique is more suited right now to the 1st team than his defensive partner.
Dennis Adeniran 7, made some good runs, looks comfortable with ball at his feet and can take players on. Needs to get his head up a bit more and make right choices at right time,
Fraser Hornby 7, very mobile for a big strapping lad, didn't win enough headers and never got enough chances to show his prowess in front of goal. Nice clearance off the line to keep the lead in the first half. Not at same level as DLC right now but could get there.
Bassala Sambou 7, strong and tough little player. Solid performance, likes to run at his man. Some nice touches throughout. His back heel flick was worth going to watch alone!
Nathan Broadhead 7, quiet first half but improved in second. Should have scored late on but his movement and control looked decent.
JOSH BOWLER 9, MOM for me with an outstanding display. Strong on the ball, holds his marker off well. Runs at the opposition defence with no fear and is quite tricky. Great move to cut inside and get his shot off for his well deserved goal. Could have scored more!
It was only one game so it's hard to judge all of the players on how they would fare in the first team squad. From what I seen, only Bowler looks ready to make the step up. Without trying to put pressure on the lad, when he has the ball at his feet he reminds me of Rooney a little bit. The way he glides along the pitch and the way he uses his strength to hold off his marker. Definitely one to watch.
Gibson and Feeney could do with going out on loan for a few months to see how they cope with league football. If Feeney beefs up a little he will be some player.
Dark Clouds mentioned in a post that Silva should be using these players in the first team squad as they were close to winning the league. After watching them tonight, I can see why he hasn't. Some just aren't ready for that step up despite being good players. We need to let them continue their footballing education before throwing them into the lion's den.

Thanks for the report. I watched it on my computer but for some reason it would not go to full-screen so difficult to see any detail. What did impress me is the celebration at the end of the game. The sheer delight and obvious team spirit and comradery came across and is a credit to Unsworth and the other coaches.

Morgan feeney is a future captain 100% he's brilliant and as you say his organisation is great for his age, I would like to see him, Gibson, Gordon, Bowler and Hornby with the first team for pre season at least then possibly go on loan to championship teams.

Brilliant result. A very good lad Unsy, if he was given the chance as the likes of our last three Managers have been given, who knows!

As much as I like Unsworth, I don't think he would be the right man to be manager just yet. He did well in his first stint as caretaker but not so good last season. It's probably inevitable that he will become a manager with a league team at some point, if he has ambition that is, but I'd rather he cut his teeth somewhere else first and take him in the future when he has gained more experience.
Some people are meant for certain roles in life, maybe Rhino has found his perfect job nurturing the kids? Time will tell I suppose, BC. What I will say is that the reserve league is not that competitive as it used to be many years ago. That's not to take anything away from the U23's whatsoever, what they achieved, again, is brilliant for the club and all involved. I just question how these lads are being prepared for the real blood and guts of league football by playing mostly against their own age group. I'd like to see more of those on the fringes of the first team battling it out, give the kids a proper education!

Unfortunately BCT Unsy wouldn't be a success. Like Silva people on here would be calling for his head after a few games, they aren't interested in giving a manager time to build something they want us top 6 immediately. Unsworth would be driven out.

Congratulations to the u23s what a game Bowler very impressive his forward runs always looked dangerous, and if anyone gets a chance to see it a lovely little back heel flick from Sambou that Bernard would be proud of. Our future is in good hands with Unsworth some real talent hopefully see some in the first team soon.

Here here. I said it earlier in the season that Bowler should be given a chance in the first team. He looks a top player although I would play him in the siggy role instead.

Gibson also looks very impressive and should definitely be integrated into the squad as a jags replacement next season. He’s very reminiscent of John stones when he broke through but with a bit more maturity when knowing to hoof it up.

All in all with back to back league titles the future is very promising indeed.

Also Bas Samboo is being released so hopefully Simms gets a good go or even a loan next season. The kid looks special ( Rooney, Barkley ) imo.

Yes congratulations to the lads and expecially David Unsworth doing for a second time, especially as his team is not full of overseas players like some of his rivals true over achievement.
Sir Loin I agree with what you say about giving a chance to Bowler maybe others but I said this the other day and got a lot of abuse for it.
To some on here if Silva does ignore them as he does it is ok as they love him and love being abusive to those that do not agree with them, thay know who they are.

Well done to the U23s. Hopefully get a few out on loan next season with a view to them stepping up to the first team.

Even though we lost against Fulham results have gone quite favourable for us with the other teams dropping points. As I type this Watford are losing 0-1 against Arsenal so currently another potential favourable result. My worry (which has been mentioned) are the remaining fixtures against Manchester United and Spurs which are matches I would think we'd drop points. Obviously I'd like to be wrong with that assumption. All the other fixtures left are winnable in my mind. So we'd still need other results to go in our favour.

So we are reliant on others now are we? Surely with more money spent and a superior squad, shouldn't the least be to finish 8th, as per last season.

It's a little bit different this year BCT. Most of the teams around us (leicester, wolves and West ham) have spent a lot more than us this season. In fact, everyone above us except Tottenham have outspent us.

We can't simply expect to waltz into 7th and 8th anymore even after spending 80 million.
We have been outspent and will continue to be because our last 2 managers blew all our money on inadequate players.

Silva and Brands have to ship out the unwanted/ not good enough players and try and rebuild this squad. They can't do that in one season.

You're just going to have to accept that we are now in a fight for 7th to 10th with other teams that have as much if not more money than us.

Not as much bickering as I forecast lol! I said after the euphoria last week that in another 3 games we might all be down in the dumps again. Fulham was 1st, we got Man Utd at home next and Palace away after that. I did mention the consistancy word and also the phrase clean sheets! Far more important than a new center forward! that's the fuse lit and I will now retire!

Overreaction is the curse of the modern game. It has reached a point where I no longer bother with Sports press and most of the fan reaction sites. Prefer the opinion of the friends I go the game with.

Bad day at the office or have the wheels come off. It's differs supporter to supporter. Some are sat there waiting in the shadows for a loss so they can reinvigorate the Silva out campaign. Some will take it in isolation and see how we bounce back.
I like to look at results in blocks of 8 and gauge the team accordingly.

There is too much up and down reactions from fans. One minute we are top 4, the next minute we are bottom 3 material.

Agree with both of you. My point has been all season that there are loads talking about new center forwards. and I have said consistantly all season that scoring goals is not our problem. Keeping clean sheets and defending is the problem. All season we have been looking great one minute and then losing goals like water through a sieve the next. When you give away 2 goals, you won't win many games. Its a simple rule and the best center forward in the world won't change that. A mentally stronger midfielder or a better center back might though!

Basics first Degsyp, agree with you entirely. A will to win also helps, as does staying on your feet unless forced not to. The lad Richarlison, spends to much time on his back or stomach. Next is build from the back (not necessarily this modern pass out from the back) .

Evolve or become extinct BCT. that's the way the game is going. EFC have been at the forefront of many new ideas over its history, let's not get left behind with this one.
