i have to say motd didn't do us justice (no change there), we did ride our luck at time bu played well, the thing I seen is we had moyes' defence but also martines attack ie 70 min under moyes all efc players would be in our half today though we always had outlet in there half
toffeeblue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Disagree mate, the coverage was quite fair imo.Chelsea had far more chances than us.

Agree0 Disagree0

There was more to the game than just chances many of the incidents when Chelsea were the transgressors were not shown. Secondly I don't think the quality of defending got sufficient praise. I thought the tone of the coverage was all about Chelsea and about how good or bad their finishing was and very little about our contribution.
I thought we played very well second half breaking with great purpose Chelsea had to come at us, tactically RM controlled the game!

Agree0 Disagree0

The tv are just carrying on an arguement with Harry Catterick in the 60s when he banned the cameras from Goodison Park.

great result today and some really good performances.
Gazza Bazza was immense and considering he wasnt match fit! I spoke to a Man City fan when we were linked with him and expected him to say he's past it you are welcome to him but no, he was gutted he may be leaving. He said the lad is quality. He certainly showed that today.i was also made up with the standing ovation Naisy got. He is not my cup of tea at all but fair play to the lad today.he worked his socks off for the team.

Great win today. Barry and Naismith outstanding, always had trust in Naisy and we're finally starting to see the best out of him. Our season starts now! COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We're not seeing the best out of him. He defended very well and worked hard, earning his standing ovation, but he was typically shocking going forward. Countless terrible, terrible passes and poor dribbles. Even I would have scored the goal. I am not trying to be negative about the game, because I'm still buzzing over it, but he still isn't anywhere near prem quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally disagree AB1878, the lad is quality in his natural position and on his day he can make a difference in games. The stick he gets is very harsh indeed. Him and Barry were the difference today.

Agree0 Disagree0

AB turn it in lad, he was our second best player after Barry.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not quality at all. He had 51% passing accuracy, which is terrible. On more than one occasion there was a simple pass and he passed it too hard, too light, too high or just miles away from the man. All he did was defend well, which he truly did, but if we played Hibbo right wing and he defended brilliantly, would we want him played there more? No. We would want him in defense. Naismith has never played in defense, but I believe he tackles and tracks well enough and has the typical technical awkwardness of a right back. I was one of the many who gave him a standing ovation, but I'd still be far happier with him not at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

You obviously watched a different game then lad.

English media have started on Barkley already, trying their best to drive him out, does my head in!

now where are those Barry haters ;) top class performance and Naisy proves his worth put in a great shift today the negatives would be Leon Osman or Distin other than that it was a top class performance! PKBLUE {Ed025's Note - distin??...i thought he had a great game, is your telly on the blink PK?..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree my bro is one of them. I think he will prove to be our best signing, his passing today was a diff class to what we have. his range and the way he mixed passes was refreshin

toffeeblue

Agree0 Disagree0

I mean when he got the ball he looked a little awkward for me PKBLUE

Agree0 Disagree0

Ossie had his best game yet this season and didn't let us down, Distin was as solid and reliable as ever. Both put in quality displays and Barry was different class. Great result and performance.

Must say very big game today and I would go as far to say Barry fits better than fellani, as he went missing in games, Barry and gibbo will bring Barkley on so much, well done BARRY MOTM

After going 1-0 up we would have lost or drew that game under moyes! I had no doubt abóut barry he was awesome"and hats off to the team and martinez"coyb"

Naisy will score in good or bad form just a goal scorer, moyes knocked his confidence like every other striker we had

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2013 21:01:26
Maybe we should give jelavic a rest as he falls over, gives ball away or is offside, give naisy a chance up front and bring Gibson bk when fit, him nd Barry Barkley mirralas lakaku. Nice choice of attacking options. Maybe we will see naisy that we bought play his game under rm as moyes did destroy strikers. Naisy and Barry knockers should now give them a chance, once they pull that top on it does something to ordinary players.

Jc

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think jeely done ok, he deserves as much credit as anyone today his header should not be underestimated that won the game he may not be scoring but if he puts them on a plate like that u can't argue that is as good as scoring

toffeeblue {Ed025's Note - there is no doubting his effort, but his quality at the moment is sadly lacking, i expect lakuku to be put straight in mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah he will ed I have no doubt, am just saying jely done ok today, he not the jely we seen when he fisrt came but his role in the goal is as good as scoring

14 Sep 2013 20:28:23
When Martiez got the job, many supporters, myself included, had doubts about his defensive credentials, guess we all owe him an apology, still a problem with goal scoring, but, with a little luck lukaku should take care of that, .5 of a goal against per game, keep that going who knows what might be possible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I had the same doubts, but maybe there is more to his management than first thought and can adapt to a big club like Everton.

Ed am I the only one excited by this season think we have lots of potential and do think Barry will be good for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Sep 2013 20:10:27
we deserved that one today.i think the only downside from the game was that ossie can't hack it for some reason.
i'm sure he will come good but I can see him being dropped for our next game
irish blue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thought ossie was ok today best game so far this season for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Gave the ball away too easily, a lot of misplaced passes and what is it with him trying to take on 2-3 players on the edge of our box?

Wish everyone would get off Naismith's back! The guy had a great game today and always puts a shift in. Roberto knows what he's doing, how about we leave the managing duties to him and just get behind all the players! Well done to Gareth Barry easily my man of the match.

SydneyBlue {Ed025's Note - good shout syd...i thought naisy and barry were both awesome..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Soot on ed, I've got to admit though I've had my moments when I've been unsure about Naisy but one of the other eds has always talked highly of him and RM obviously believes in his potential so let's just hope we see him at his best for years to come. Feeling very optimistic for this season now Ed :) coyb

SydneyBlue {Ed025's Note - join the club syd.. :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Awesome. Barry looked far more interested than Felli did. Barkley becoming a freight train down the middle. Still hate nursing 1-0 leads for 45 minutes. Can't wait to see more Delo out there.

To previous posts can you post back please as those players mentioned why are they playing well they just made your posts look stupid oustanding performance today Barkley is going to be a footballing genius

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Osman was and is light weight, he gave the ball away to much.
Naismith played the best I have seen him so far but he (at the moment) isn't a player that deserves a starting birth in our
team. Imagine if these two were replaced with gibbo and mccarthy . bluepaul {Ed025's Note - naisy would be hard to drop for me paul, he got his chance, and took it with both hands...its up to peanuts, gibbo, and del boy to fight for their places, that will be a big plus for us mate, as its a long hard season..

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Sep 2013 19:32:06
I never liked Barry at all but he was immense today and Naismith was also good some poor touches but game time will help him and when lukaku is playin I think we will be a match for anyone

Oh and how good is distan?

Ant Wharton

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Must admit I doubted the Barry signing. But everything he did today was quality. {Ed025's Note - your right twoold..

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to admit although I rated Barry in the past I did wonder if he was past his sell by date. Glad to eat my words on that today, if that is what we can expect from the lad we are going to be a forced to be reckoned with once Robbie completes the transition.

I see that Manchester United have not given up on Baines (a web site today). It's at the point of needing to state at what point a legal approach is fair and, if not illegal, what is an immoral approach. Baines is so obviously a good player that it is right and proper for Everton FC to have first shout on concluding an revised contract offer; it bad form from any other party (howsoever stated) to offer whispers of encouragement that the, "fields are even greener over here" whilst this discussion is ongoing. It is so plainly unfair.

Moyes going on about Baines is obviously to entice him in January. We should break the bank with a new contract offer now. This offer should include a buy out clause with a figure that reflects his worth. Then this time perhaps Mr Moyes will come in with a decent offer to start with.

I think most of us would take a draw today, but the optimist in me thinks we may get a result. Its all down to finishing and I've seen nothing of Jelavic or Kona to convince me. For me it will be down to Mirallas or Barkley to show us a piece of magic. Come on boys

Two quick points
1 - let's show Baine's exactly how much we appreciate him in a blue shirt.
2 - I wish Moyes would shut the f@#k up and stop talking about our players. How long before he starts saying how much of great player Barkley is and how hard he'd developing him as a youth.

I'm obviously biased as a kiwi, but in regards to looking for Distins long term successor I think that Winston Reid is worth a punt.
Strong in the air and in the tackle as well as statistically the fastest defender in the PL, and Hammers Player of the year for me he is worth a look. He has improved massively over the last 2 years and is only 24. If he is consistently as good as he was last year he would be worth a look.

Your thoughts ed? {Ed025's Note - hes a good player kiwi, not as good as distin, but certainly one for the future mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

When I saw his contract expiring I would definitely have taken him, but West Ham tied him up, and he's not needed right now. Good shout though.

Ed decided to have rest from posting since the the deadline tfer day. day off work and sat glued to tv and Internet. I don't think I was that stressed when my wife was in labour. Anyways I reckon. even with the loans made everton could be on the verge of something this season. feeling positive about the chelski game. On a different note just wondering how many barca fans are going to tune into everton this season to see their prospect play.may even turn out to be a shrewd marketing ploy. when kitbag deals finished, especially if we get two seasons out of him. I am dreading the game tomorrow v chelsea I think we will be given a lesson in finishing we haven't really played anyone yet and all this ball possession is getting us no where

Martinez out!

L4 4EL {Ed007's Note - To be fair mate not many teams will get anything from Chelsea this season.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we will get somethin tbh, we raise are game againts these teams and we done ok against chelsea recently am going for 1-1 score ed?

toffeeblue {Ed025's Note - i would be happy to get anything to be honest, they are a quality side, who i fancy to win the league, so would bite your hand off for a draw..
