Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Given the injury situation do you think it's time for Besic to be given an extended run? Apart from the Clelsea howler think he's done okay, is mobile and did well this week again against Bale and Hazard in the Euro qualifiers.
Only seen bits of Browning. Can play at right back or centre back apparently. Is he worth a go too and what is his best position? Stones flourished when he was given a run last season.
Martinez reckons Lukaku form is on the back of the World Cup. I don't really buy this. Lukaku didn't play all the time and got extended leave. Others have come back from Brazil and played well.

{Ed025's Note - i would like to see more of besic as well tedster, browning can play either mate, but coming off the bench may be the best option for the moment..

Hey guys, can someone who keeps up with the academy team give us an idea of our up and coming prospects?

I know people like Ledson, Browning, Lundstram, Garbutt, Long are all near enough to the first team squad but who of them (and anyone else) do you give a really good chance of become a real player for us in the near future?

Ledson, Garbutt and Browning are the obvious three who are progressing from youth team to first team squad players and I'm sure the latter 2 will feature at some further point in the season (obviously depending on injuries and suspensions, particularly to our full backs) What Garbutt has to contend with is now to either replace baines or oviedo as starting left backs, neither of which he is likely to do in the near future. As a result we may see him choose to move elsewhere, however I would prefer the option if he is not likely to start in the coming 2 seasons loan out to a high claibre championship club to then return when baines is let's face it too old to play full back/ winger. Browing has shown already he is more acoplished as a right back than both stones and hibbo, so should start ahead of them imo while coleman is out. Ledson is a class act, simple as that, he along with barkley and mccarthy will form a solid 3 for the best part of a decade to come and will cement our forward push in the league much like Manchester United found with becks, giggs, scholes and the neville bros.

Galloway is going to be brought into the 1st team picture in the second half of season supposedly.

Garbutt left back, Baines left mid. Both like to get forward. Think it would give Baines a new lease of life?

where is oviedo going to play if garbutt plays left back?

No position should be a given let them fight for it!

I don't get this, it was the same before the world cup, 'play cole left back and baines left wing', what is the point, baines isn't rapid, he won't beat someone, he has no tricks to speak of and he can't cut in and shoot, literally having 2 left backs on the same side and craig makes a good point, has bryan left the club or has everyone just forgotten him, where will he play, I reckon baines has a year or 2 left, then oviedo and garbutt fight it out, baines has been average for 2 seasons now, he has to move aside at some point, onto the op, from what I've seen, garbutt, browning and ledson are the nearest, galloway looks a monster, i'd say lundstram, mcaleny and junior only have a short while left before they go, but I do like the look of lundstram, also conor grant and chris long

You miss the point. It's no good being RAPID if you have no end product. We have enough dodgy wingers, what we need is people who can pass and deliver a ball, and Baines can do both. As for playing the kids, yea throw them into a struggling team, and have everyone moan about how bad they are, should do wonders for there n
Moral.

I didn't say chuck kids in, you say there is no point in being rapid with no end product etc, what's the point in an end product if it gets blocked because you cannot get past the full back or find any space, how often have you seen baines take someone on and whip in a brilliant ball? Very very rare, his corners have been woeful so maybe his crossing ain't so good anymore, playing him left wing would be disastrous, very rarely does it happen, unless the left back has bags of pace or can beat a man, i'd sooner play oviedo left wing and garbutt or baines left back

So would you describe Pienar as a left winger who has pace and can cross a ball? I have never mentioned using Baines as a left winger, but do see him filling the peanut role. Sadly we seem to have an obsession with wingers at the moment.

No which is why in one of my posts above (before you mentioned pienaar) I said I don't know what it is he actually does, those 2 (pienaar and baines) mess about too much on the wing, constant backheels and fancy flicks that only lead to us losing the ball

I was talking to my auntie, and she is putting Everton's bad form down to her being off work sick. It got me thinking about superstitions, I have had loads, but the most important one was always getting a cup of tea and tube of wine gums from the same shop. Then my mate who sat next to me would have the black ones. If the shop had no wine gums we always lost. If the shop had wine gums but the packet had no black ones in it, we drew. We always won when Pete had the black ones. Odd I know, but it worked like that for a while.

Anyone else have any odd superstitions? Well any superstitions are odd I suppose!

While at the match I have a habit of crossing my fingers whenever we are being attacked or whenever we have a chance, I also put my right shoe on before my left but I ties the left shoe first, specifically before the match, obviously doesn't work but it shall continue

On matchdays I dress my kids in blue, pull out any old shirts, scarves, badges etc. Surround myself in blue. Not doing much good this season though. Confident of a win this weekend and we can all start being a bit more positive about life. COYB

I've got a match day mug.
Got it from the old club shop that used to be in Goodison Road, where the ticket office is now, in May 1987 on the day we played Luton and got presented with the old league one champions trophy.
Never gets used on any other day and gets mothballed in the close season.

My dad went to the 1966 FA Cup Final and gave me the scarf he wore for it. I used to wear the scarf to important games, until I took it to the 2009 FA Cup Final. Since then every time I have worn it we have lost. It's well and truly retired now.

{Ed001's Note - I met up with one of the lads off the Man Utd site yesterday, he was telling me he got an autographed Man Utd shirt from a charity auction. He only wore it twice, both times they lost, so he has never worn it since! I am now trying to convince him to wear it for this season......}

is anyone else fed up with the stick Baines gets playing for England? truth is if he was used in the same way he is at Everton the supply of quality balls into the area would be far superior, it seems he passes to sterling or Wiltshire they then run head down into blind areas they never seem to work the ball with him as say pienarr does, surely Hodgson can see this?
