Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

14 May 2013 23:25:36
Right folks, I'm getting really annoyed about all this "Martinez for everton" talk. How low have we all sunk to even be entertaining the subject? He seems a nice guy, but he simply isn't good enough for my beloved club & his defensive qualities are non existent. The way I see it is that when moyes came in we were relegation material, but in time he bought us real stability & eventually a 'top 7' status, so moyes therefore created the stability. What we now need to do is take our football to the next level (I. e. - top 4/5 & winning a cup & European football on a regular bais etc). To achieve this we need a more capable manager that has achieved exactly these things - the right people to do this for me would be in the following order;

1) Michael laudrup
2) pereira
3) Benitez
4) roberto di Matteo

Laudrup is easily first choice for me, & when you look at how good 'michu' has been this season you can see that laudrup possesses moyes' ability of finding a gem of a player for small money.
Finally, on a more happy note, I think David moyes will 1 day return as manager of everton, not sure when, but convinced he will.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I do agree with what your sayin but our defenders and whole squad are a different class compared to wigans

Solomon if Rafa had not managed the Koppites I would be begging to get him here because he is a top manager, also if I remember he slated our great team too but I can forgive that remark as that is what a managers job is to unsettle opposition.

Could we really ignore he was a Koppite, could we handle the flack from the other end of the park, don't know but personally mate I don't know whether I could.

Degsy

Agree0 Disagree0

Why the Laudrup love in? He won a league cup, big deal.

Totally agree with you - all other clubs supporters think Martinez is great, my response is, 'Well you have him!' Also agree with your top 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that to spend £10 million on Laudrup would be a waste if money, I haven't heard enough about Pereira to want him to be honest, Benitez is a good manager but also an Ex-Kopite so no to him, I wouldn't mind di Matteo as he done well with Chelsea and was unfairly sacked

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont understand this ex kopite crap. did we slag off beardsley when he was banging them in for us. so what he said things about us. it happens in all rivalries between 2 close clubs. I would be surprised if 1. we approcached rafa and 2 he was keen. he is a good manager but would want a decent transfer fund

Could Wigan give up there place in Europe?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They can but I don't see them doing so, playing in europe as a championship side will be their highlight of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

New Manager will probably be Martinez and what about Al Habsi as new keeper? He is Prem Class 31 excellent compeition for Howard, and might mean Howard doesn't have those 1 month dip in form

Agree0 Disagree0

Makes me laugh when we I see fer being mentioned. the new manager will have his own targets not moyes targets.

Pireira, laudrup or bilic for me i've decided lol just need to let bill know. Take us to a new level. Europa or cl and a trophy to. that's got to be the aim now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pireira for me, laudrup has ruled himself out and I can;t see billic coming

Agree0 Disagree0

Im with you Dave, Pereira or Bilic all day long for me. Laudrup would be great, but as already mentioned by several others, his longeivity would be a concern. i'd like to think of our new manager being in for the long haul because stability as much as anything else is what's help put us where we are now.

Strange how we keep hoping our new manager will go back to his old club and bring a couple of players with him while at the same time think it would be treason if our old manager did the same to us.

If Stubbs is given the job well i'm sorry lads we will be taking a step backwards. I just can't see Stubbs attracting quality players that we need to the club it could end in disaster and then we will be back to square 1 again. We have come so far under Moyes we need someone to come in and drive us further. On the Baines to Utd rumour I think it could damage his chance of playing in the world cup for England if he is not playing regularly for Utd so I think he will stay and give the new gaffer a chance. Martinez gets heavily criticised on here over his defence but as the man said he struggled all season to get a defensive partnership going due to to many injuries I really think he could he could do a great job with us after all if were going to take a chance I would rather him than Stubbs. Stef the blue {Ed025's Note - me too stef..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wigan have had some great attacking football this year but their injury struck defence is why they have gone down

14 May 2013 22:18:33
With moyes gone now do you think we can have a manager who plays 2 strikers and that's not saying moyes didn't do a fantastic job but sometimes we was playing safe nd not attacking enough wot you rekon ed

dave {Ed025's Note - i think its up to the next manager dave..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We weren't complaining about 1 striker last season when jelly was banging them in

Agree0 Disagree0

Do the mancs use 2 strikers and oh yes they won the league. even mancini rarely did. Do barcelona play 2? No they play 1 and sometimes None. Football is no longer 442 my friend.

The current side at Everton is a good one even if we loose Fellaini we would
Be able to cope. what we need the new
Manager whoever it may be to do is
Find us a quality cf someone who can
Score the chances we create if moyes had been able to find a benteke or a
Sturridge good cf who can finish for not
Crazy money instead of beatie bent
Yakubu Saha jelavic he would of left Everton with a trophy this must be
Addressed and the funds must be made
Avaliable for the new manager IMO we
Should go all out for Lakaku young
Powerfull and can finish don't see him
Getting a chance at Chelsea so we should try an dive right on him coyb

Here we go the candidates:
Mark Hughes = NO
Michael Laudrup = Staying at swansea
Porto boss Pireira = Possibility
Malky Mackay = Possible but not for me
Neil Lennon = NO
Martin O neil = NO
Roberto Martinez = YES I know the defensive problems he had at wigan but he would have superior better players at Everton to work with but he could stay at Wigan.

Andy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couple good games doesn't make him brilliant there is a lot better out there

14 May 2013 22:43:42
How about Martinez = No!

Just got Wigan relegated. I don't know why everyone seems to want him so bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not for me.

Wigan have struggled in the PL with Martinez in charge because he cannot see what is wrong. His complete disregard for any defensive tactics or players who can defend properly is obvious to everyone, except him.

He'd inherit much better at Everton but would you trust him to build his own back line of pkayers when the time came?

Tactically naive, the opposite of Moyes, we need better than Martinez.

WHATS OUR NAME!

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy:

Mark Hughes = ''NO'' Not my choice either!
Michael Laudrup = ''Staying at swansea'' Would have been my fave!
Porto boss Pireira = ''Possibility'' Has support on here I have noticed however a bit of a shot in the dark for me.
Malky Mackay = ''Possible but not for me'' A perfect fit for me I'm afraid.
Neil Lennon = ''NO'' Echo that mate!
Martin O neil = ''NO'' Yep ditto.
Roberto Martinez = ''YES I know the defensive problems he had at wigan but he would have superior better players at Everton to work with but he could stay at Wigan. ''

He has the same problem as a lot of managers/coaches do, i. e. he is scared of playing ugly even when it means staying in the PL or playing in the championship so no thank you I want our new manager to be flexible and realistic with the challenge ahead (and it will be a challenge with this board) not dogmatic!!

please can all these negative people who are depressing me about martinez not good enough to be our next manager give it rest or if not can their please tell me who our next young experienced premiership manager who just won the facup with chmpionship players who knocked us out of the facup should be and don't forget we don't want any foreigners they will ruin our club

dave

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im not sure i'm reading this right you says you WANT Martinez but don't want a foreigner isn't Martinez Spanish?

Agree0 Disagree0

And to look at it from all angles. just got relegated. it ain't that straight forward. moyes. if memory served me right always ended up just outside play off or mid table when he was at Preston. I am sure some one in the know will correct me though. jlaff

Alan Stubbs now 8/1, i'm sort of warming to the idea, what do you think eds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just can't see him attracting the quality player Evertonians are desperate for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think of moyes when he came though, 39, no one had really heard of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're right, but it took moyes a lot of shrewd buys. he never bought ready made class players to begin with in his tenure. Cahill from milwall, Arteta from rangers I believe. all languishing in lesser teams and or leagues. people bang on about never giving youth a chance well Rooney, Roswell, Coleman, Ozzie Berkeley. gosling, anichebe. all young players he gave / is giving a chance to. Only now with league position and the right manager can we push fwd. I don't know who the best guy is. but we need to keep the core of our team or replace with equivalent players. the club needs to do all it can to make that happen. otherwise the last 11 yrs will have been wasted. people say moyes was not successful. well I am a fan and like the fact that we are no longer a mid to bottom languishing side. I want that to continue and if it means in 11 yrs time we are a top 4 club (consistently) then I will be even happier. jlaff

If Moyses dismantles the everton team by taking Jags / felliani and Baines to man u -he will become a hate figure and would never be welcomed back to Goodison

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Here here

Agree0 Disagree0

Calm down. It's just paper talk which 99% of the time doesn't happen!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think he will. If he does sniff round i'd hope it would be only 1 player. He would be destroying his own legacy and leaving the club in a complete hole. I think Moyes has more integrity.

Agree0 Disagree0

Last poster, I agree, tho, unfortunately his loyalty is to the Mancs now and i'm sure his outlook is to do what is best for them. I hope he leaves us alone out of respect, but who wouldn't want Baines? Hopefully Bainesy's love for Everton is as great as ours

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he respects the club enough to leave us alone for 2 seasons

Agree0 Disagree0

Utd going for Baines comes with a lot of risk for Moyes. 1) he potentially destroys what bond is left with any of our fans. 2) one of the first things he will therefore have to do is drop or sell Patrice Evra, a Fergie captain, loyal servant who the fans respect. 3) Baines may not be able to do for Utd what he does for us. Most of our attacking threat goes through Baines. Utd have a lot of other players who will want the ball before he gets it. Kinda like when he plays for England. 4) he will cost around £20m. A lot of money.

Look beyond the fact that Scharner is clueless, and till the goal Wigan were always in the game. With a better defence I believe Martinez would produce a fantastic attacking team. We have the defence - it's a no brainier. Come on Bill!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Twoold:

No sorry mate not for me, Martinez has been dicing with the drop for a long time now.

If he just once in a while took stock of where he is and what he has, then he would have been more realistic about gaining points not plaudits and flattery!

WAFC will now play in the championship and Mr Martinez must take a big chunk of the responsibility.

Blue247

Agree0 Disagree0

Take out three of our back four and where would we be. It was bad enough when we lost Jags for a few games. Well that's what he has had to do for most of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

First 10-15 mins of the second half wigan were the ones who looked like they were going to take it, the defence let them down

Agree0 Disagree0

14 May 2013 21:16:36
For everyone who is gagging for a bit of Martinez, I hope your watching this game. Their team defence is totally useless. It's not just the back 4. It's the whole team. There is no protection from the midfield. I mean, the back 4 are useless, but made to look even worse by the exposure. It's a shame because they do have some excellent attacking players, but you can't defend like this and get away with it.

Hank {Ed025's Note - the fact they are losing hank, is because they have inferior players mate...you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear!, at everton he would have a vastly superior squad mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair enough totally agree we are better team but I'm talking more about his tactics. Our team defends as a team. That's always been Moyes' way to me. The Wigan side have a back 4 who defend and the rest don't seem to take responsibility. Let's say he did join as manager, then for me a must would be to have weir and Stubbs heavily involved still because I'm not convinced Martinez knows how to coach the defensive side of the game effectively enough to challenge for a European place.

Hank

eds you beat me to it, apart from mcarthy and maybe maloney most of these wigan players are championship level at best martinez has done really well keeping them in the premiership as long as he has, they play great footy and he always conducts himself with dignity i'd love to see him given our job and remember he's won more trophies than the new Manchester United boss has.
ste c

Agree0 Disagree0

Wigan didn't have the option to defend, it was a game they had to win. So of course there was gaps between the mid and defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've been watching Wigan all season closely because I was intrigued by their 3 at the back system that got them out of trouble last year. And trust me, what you saw today was no different from how they usually are. The fact they had to win made no difference. There have been gaps all season which is why they have just been relegated.

Hank

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah yes hank but a back three of Jags, Distin and possibly Duffy (presuming Heitinga leaves) would be a lot stronger than Wigan's back three mate.
Joe EFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Their defence has been hit by a lot of injuries, none of them have been able to settle together without someone else getting an injury

Agree0 Disagree0

Do like the potential in that Joe. With Baines and Coleman bombing the flanks. But really, Martinez? I want, to want him. (growl)

Just got around to reading moyes and Nevilles programme notes from Sunday. Moyes talks mostly about himself and Neville about the fans and atmosphere at goodison. Would not surprise me if in the end the board called moyes bluff as he thinks he run the club and was not replaceable. On another note felliani is gone with his body language. Never once clapped the crowd as players camut or on lap of honour. Keep jags and bsinsey. 2 defenders 2 midfielders and 2 strikers we need for next season.

Always been Martinez for me. with so many new managers next season he could push us to the title with the team we have now plus a striker! Markyg

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I like your optimism mate, but let's just hope, if it is Martinez he can jeep us in the hunt for Europe and who knows maybe elevate us to the next level and nab a top 4 place.

Personally, am completely torn on the man, for every positive I think for Martinez, there is a negative that I worry about. The FA Cup win is nice, but it hasn't done anything to sway me, especially since his side is more or less getting relegated.

The man has upside, without question, which is the reason why the likes of Villa and Liverpool were interested in hiring him. It is going to be a risk, which I guess we get with every new manager, hopefully, if it does turn out to be Martinez (which I personally think it is, especially with the latest quotes from Whelan) he can show his potential off and take us up a level.

Whatever the case may be, like Fergie said in his speech, we need to get behind the new manager, we need to support him 100% and show we have faith in him. Moyes mentioned when he joined, just how important it was to him that the fans were behind him and willing to back him. {Ed025's Note - good and balanced view that mate..

Pereira is the man that I want to replace Moyes. None of the other names mentioned really take my fancy. He's young, wants to manage in the prem and is interested in playing the type of football that we witnessed at Goodison on Sunday. Much prefer this guy to a Jol, Hughes or some of the other managers being mentioned and I personally think that a Stubbs, Ferguson or Neville experience wise don't really fit the bill.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 May 2013 16:40:06
No no no to all these in house names being mentioned Stubbs, Neville, Big dunc, we need a manager with experience at this level we have to bring in a manager that can bring a good attacking style to the team a manager that players will want sign and play for. I mean no disrespect to the 3 names above but come on blues it is not what we need.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would like to see Neville as No 2 tbh -with the team sheet we have right now. ex captain. well respected by fans and club and would be a great asset to any manager (with the group of players we currently have). Dunc and Stubbs may have some kind of rapport also but neville travelled, trained and played with these lads on a daily/weekly basis he would be a great interface between manager and team. BK make the call please. Otherwise given th enumber of names recommended for the job I would like to offically announce my application to BK. if slidey face redknapp can do it, Ian Dowie, Mick mcCarthy, mark Hughes blah blah then I reckon I have an just as equally a good chance of becoming a faliure or success as they do. except I would have the input from everyone on here. and I'll do it for 200K a year. saving BK a fortune!. jlaff {Ed025's Note - you undervalue yourself jlaff..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed. so true but just think of all the free games I get to watch plus. I could sit in the technical area having a free pint and pie. not to mention the the additional players we could buy with the saving. jlaff {Ed025's Note - i want you as manager now!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Neville number 2 I have no problem with that it is the number 1 position I am worried about. Ed I have to say I am starting to get worried about this manager being 1 of the 3 names I mentioned in the original post, please tell me it won't happen. {Ed025's Note - there is only one of them in the frame mate..and thats stubbs..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed what is your take on stubbs if it was down to you would you go with him or do you think we need someone that has no connection to the club. {Ed025's Note - i dont want him mate, we need an experienced manager IMO..nice guy, but maybe one for the future..

Dan if a billionaire comes along then that is a no brainer because he would want it as his hobby and not for profit.

I agree that we should not sell to anyone who can only just raise the 120 million though as they will be buying to make lots of dough.

Get a Ruskie in, new stadium for 250 million, 200 million on players, keep Bill as Chairman, top manager too.

Ive just sold my soul and am proud to say would love this to happen to us, won't ever happen though but we can dream

Wouldn't mind Lukaku at Everton he has a £6 million buyout clause in his contract, I think he's worth it do you?
Jay

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Rooneys is sold have we still got clause in contract about any sell on fee

Agree0 Disagree0

They paid 18 million for him and he has 6 million buy out clause whatever member of the Chelsea board allowed that would be sacked on the spot.

Agree0 Disagree0

So Chelsea buy him in a rumoured £10m deal plus add ons and insert a £6m buyout clause?! You are kidding right?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't be so ridiculous mate. How can he have a £6 million buyout clause when he was bought for £18 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that's true he's worth every penny an more jay quality player still has loads of potential too

Agree0 Disagree0

No he doesnt! Why in the world would Chelsea buy him for £18m then put a £6m buyout clause in his contract?!

Why would they pay 18 million for him when he's 18 but put a 6 million buy out clause in for when he improves? RW

This Russian consortium that is in talks with our club Everton at the minute are going to run our club to the ground, the head of Avangardco Investments Oleg Bakhmatyuk who is the man behind the takeover has sacked around 5000 farm workers from Ukraine and The US over the past couple of months and also has made the prices of the shares for the company drop significantly over the past few months, their last eat figures show a drop of -1. 12% over the past week, is this really who we want taking over at our glorious club?

i would love the porto manager to come to us, I will admit I had never heard ov him till he was linked with us but the more u read about him the better he sounds, dusnt like limelight just wants to get on with the job and likes to control possesion and defend high, attacking your opponents is the best way to defend! that's his way of doing things and it sounds gud to me!

If we are fortunate enough to get Martinez it will a fantastic appointment.
He is a pensive, collected and aspirational young manager. He gets the best out of players and favours a flowing attacking game.
If we can keep the organisational and 'hard to beat' ethos that DM has burned into the souls of the current crop and add the progressive martinez style it could be a very exciting season.

Dunc and Stubbs are far from managerial quality yet, as is Phil Nev.

I know we will all want Martinez to plunder the likes of mcmanamman and mcarthy, but if ex managers start hauling their old guard with them to pastures new, we could be in for a rocky summer.

Sunday, we get the crocodile tears from mr moyes, to-night, he appears at unt's celebrations with a red flag around him, apart from anything else he is under contract, and being paid by everton football club. If I said what I really feel about st david, I doubt it would be posted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Forget about moyes he's gone to utd he went to their parade so what. concentrate on everton now u can't blame moyes for lack of professionalism his head his bound to be at utd but he will prepare us for chelsea like he has for every other game. martinez will add attacking flair to a team already well drilled be positive about the future

I really find it difficult to comprehend how deluded most of the Everton fans are. U guys really need a reality check. At best your a team that will have a chance of winning a cup every 15/20 years. You won't EVER compete for never mind win the EPL. Yet you continue to slag of Scottish football and in particular Celtic FC. Take a look at the reality of it. Look at Celtics history. They are a World Wide Brand. Everton reap the benifits by mearly making up the numbers in the EPL. Celtic's acheivments in Europe last season was fantastic and this was recognised by virtually all sensible football pundits, broadcasters and sports reporters. Just imagine what they could do with the £50m + lucky bag that teams like Everton get for just being in the EPL. Success for Everton is finishing 6th! If Lennon does go to Everton you will get a fantastic, passionate young manager. I don't think he will take a step down just to get into the EPL so thankfully he'll be leading us into another Champions League campaighn. Dream on Everton. {Ed025's Note - look mate, this has been done to death!..you are a very big club, no doubt, but people think scottish football is inferior to the EPL, and to be fair they are right..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Celtic are a big club, in a tiny league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic are a pro team in an amateur league of part time clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

If Celtic had healthy competition i. e. playing in a league that might include a

MUFC, CFC. THFC, AFC, MCFC, Real Madrid, Barcelona B. Dortmund, B. Munich, A. C. Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus. Lennon would be a very serious contender.

However this is not the case!

Celtic play in a league that includes:>

Team Stadium Capacity
Aberdeen Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen 22, 199
Dundee Dens Park, Dundee 12, 085
Dundee United Tannadice Park, Dundee 14, 209
Heart of Midlothian Tynecastle Stadium, Edinburgh 17, 420
Hibernian Easter Road, Edinburgh 20, 421
Inverness Caledonian Thistle Caledonian Stadium, Inverness 7, 918
Kilmarnock Rugby Park, Kilmarnock 18, 128

Been a hude admirer of the Bundesliga this season and there has been a lot of talent about that I think would make great additions for us.
