May I ask a question here that is not Everton related? The start of the World Cup has made me curious. It's honestly cool if you don't post it.

Everybody seems to think it's impossible to sign players away at the WC but I remember when those incredible young German hopes suddenly signed for Real, Khedira and Ozil.

My question is about that, the German young stars (at the time) suddenly signed for Real. Were they of long term interest or did Real pounce so quick after a great performance that no other teams had chance to react?

Makes me wonder if teams are scouting Worder Cup and have to jump on a transfer as quick as possible without the diligence and scouting that would typically go into a transfer. Imagine the turkeys you could get because someone just clicked on the world stage, or alternatively the gem you gain because a young unknown has been given a chance.

We bought Besic after he marked Messi out of a game at the WC.

All in all imo a fairly decent fixture list for Everton this season which, if we get off to a good start, ould see us fighting for position at the right end of the table and hopefully a place in the Euro League or better in 19/ 20. Now all we need are the right players playing in their best positions. COYB!

Problem is H . this easy start that we think we have, if we don't get the results we expect it it could all turn nasty Very quick as some supporters will expect us to win most of these games I'm not to convinced it's always a good thing to have an easy start . if there is such thing.

14 Jun 2018 20:10:12
Are there any easy starts?
Maybe a h9me game 1st but other than that who knows.
How many times have we seen the promoted sides top half early on.
Huddersfield were top after 4 games last season.

I think Wolves away will be a very tricky match they look like a good team with a good manager and they'll be well up for it. Plus we're in transition.

I had a feeling after I posted that it may come across, to some, that I was saying we have an 'easy start'. That's not what I meant at all. I understand there are no EASY games in the PL, but there are definitely some you'd consider harder than others. Sure, we could lose the first few games and have all the doom merchants screaming for various heads, or we could just as easily win them and get delusions of grandeur. let's just wait and see what pans out eh. COYB!

Hard game against Wolves and Nuno EspĆrito Santo (65 percent win rate) , Porto (55 percent win rate) and Valencia (51 percent win rate) . Those are not stats to be sniffed at and a Manager who is an ex-Goalkeeper at that. Nuno EspĆrito Santo may have been on our radar but I suspect with Wolves financial clout, he would have turned us down. I agree with others that no game at this level is a given and the new Management structure will be very aware of this.

Can any eds shed any light on Das bost a few sky sports reporters are saying we are interested in him and any news regarding Carvalhio and gelson Martin's moving to us.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - This seems to just be a list of random players.}

14 Jun 2018 12:14:17
Sorry ed I will explain we have been linked with Carvalhio for the last few weeks so was seeing if their is an update
A few sky sports reporters are saying we are interested in das bost so was after your view on it to see if it has any substance
And on the Arsenal page you said another English club is interested in gelson Martin's and was seeing if that's us cheers.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Everton to Sporting for any of their players. Silva was briefly at Sporting and William Carvalho was there at the same time so perhaps that is the reason for the links - but he did not try and take him to any of the other three clubs he has coached since 2015. I am also far from convinced that Carvalho would get on well in the Premier League. I am not aware of why Sky reporters are saying that Everton has an interest in Bas Dost, I can only assume there has been an approach to his agents or Sporting by Everton that I am not aware of. I did not say anything about another English club on the Arsenal page - the discussions have been taking place with Juventus, although he has been offered to three London clubs.}

Two of the top 4 teams in the first 10 games and a really kind Christmas/ new year for us.

I think this is probably the kindest draw we have had in many a year.

I will take this all day long, sometimes breaks like this can make all the difference. Our last game against Spurs could be interesting though for both teams. I wonder if we will be resting players for FA cup final or if we will play our strongest side.

Great fixtures. If we build some momentum we could shock a few of the big boys towards the end of the season at Goodison when they've got tired legs after a long season in Europe.

Only downside is I can only make 6 games due to work, looks like Stubhub for the rest.

looks like an easy start to the season, looking at the teams in the premiership we should at the very least finish 7th.

Why are some people so desperate to keep Klaassen? I love his attitude, through all the crap he's seemingly been out through, he still wants to put a shift in and succeed at the club, but I don't see what he's actually done in the time he's been given to warrant staying.

Sure this'll get downvoted to hell, but I'd keep Schneiderlein. His lack of effort last season was appalling yes, but there's a player in there.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

14 Jun 2018 08:11:11
Hugo I could be wrong but I'm sure one of the eds mentioned how poor him and Sandro had been poorly treated by the club and it's not desperation to keep him it's about giving him a fair chance to show if he can do it remember Klasson was captain of Ajax and also captained of the Netherlands so he isn't a bad player.

Agree1 Disagree3

14 Jun 2018 08:17:21
So you want to get rid of a player who wants to be here and only got a chance when the whole team was awful at the start of the season, but you want to keep a player who doesn't want to be here an was given a chance pretty much all season an still didn't try or look like he give a sh! t. I used to love schneiderlin but for me he showed his true colours this season. You say thers a player in schneiderlin well there is also a player in klassen an he actually wants to have a go at our club. we need people at this club who actually want to be here and are going to work 100 percent every week, especially this next season coming. The lad was ajax captain at 24 for god sake he can't be that bad.

Agree2 Disagree2

14 Jun 2018 08:52:04
Letā€™s be honest though - Sandro went out on loan and didnā€™t score a single goal. Klasson is as told to go out on loan and refused. If he was setting training alight Iā€™m sure he would get a game so clearly he is not standing out. Iā€™d have the exact same attitude - Iā€™d love to play for EFC. Problem is - Iā€™m crap! Right attitude is one thing - being good enough is another. If Koeman, Silva and Allerdyce donā€™t think they are good enough from what they see day in day out then really thatā€™s enough.
I.

Spot on Sobs.

TBH Iā€™m more interested in the idea of playing one holding midfielder. That way thereā€™s not the case of one carrying the other. The problem is is that we have 5 of them so something there has to give. Over to you Marco.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Jun 2018 10:19:00
That one holding could be Schneidsā€™. Its what heā€™s best at IF he applies himself!

14 Jun 2018 10:38:45
If we do get that Maddison kid from Norwich then there isn't actually a place in the squad for Klaassen no matter how much he wants to stay, Gylfi and Maddison would be the 2 attacking mids for me.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Jun 2018 16:17:58
Well reading brands comments klaasens going nowhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jun 2018 20:20:42
Klassen was never going to get a game under Allardyce. 2 midfield slots taken up by 2 defensive mids. We even had 3 in one game. I don't necessarily see Klassen just playing a 10 I think he could play deeper in our league.
As for why didn't the others play him. Well Koeman did and when he did he was no worse than everyone else at the time. Unsworth was never going to take a risk on him. For me, circumstances have been his worst enemy.

How bad is the situation being reported at PSG Eds?

Is there a chance it might start a European wide transfer merry-go-round before the end of the month or are we likely to see little movement until after the World Cup as people will be a little distracted and the top players are busy playing?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - This has been known about since last summer. This is the Everton page so why ask here?}

Sort of Glennk.

Sorry Ed002 - I read on BBC about PSG needing to sell and linked it to the idea of clubs wanting to get players in before letting managers etc talk to their players.

With Silva and Brands looking round Europe, do you think this deadline will trigger more transfer activity or will the World Cup starting today more than like quash it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, it is nothing to do with that, nor Everton. Sorry.}
