Seen an interview with cleverly and he said Martinez wants him to score 5-10 goals this year. Also said he was going to play him further up the pitch. Targeting that number of goals suggests he is going to play lots of games! Please don't tell me he is Robertos answer to the no 10 role after missing out on payet.

15 Jul 2015 01:25:15
He will never score that, but should not be written off the way we all are, also know may sound stupid everyone keeps mentioning no 10 what bout Barkley naismith mirallas delefeou?I have also stupidly thought over years our best player for role is pienaar, he is creative and so is osman

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Jul 2015 09:00:27
With Martinez mentioning a European type no 10 and saying that nobody from England could fulfil that role I'm just hoping that he hasn't backtracked. Delboy and Kev are both wingers and as industrious as naisy is he clearly hasn't got the same creativity of a payet for example.

seeing a lot of chat about "Man City preparing to swoop for McCarthy" and "Spurs favourite to to sign McCarthy". Have any of the hacks actually asked if we are prepared to sell? Are we willing to do business here?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

15 Jul 2015 00:53:15
If the price is right we'll sell.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 05:49:43
Press don't care about whether we want to sell or not

We don't want to sell

If the price is Wright all clubs sell

15 Jul 2015 08:15:16
As much as I like McCarthy he still isn't the complete article, [lacks goals, too many sideways and back passing] if he is unhappy [a big 'if'] then 25 million from City would be hard to turn down in my opinion.

Best post for ages Swan.

Agree1 Disagree2

15 Jul 2015 10:15:03
what about my post below? Do you disagree and think Kone and McGeady should remain our number 9 and 7? Degsy you've changed your mind a bit then.

14 Jul 2015 18:41:01
So apparently we have under 10 mill to spend without selling anybody getting very worried if this is true, Martinez top target was Payet but club could not afford him I read this came from a club insider that said Deleufeo would sign so there could be something in this.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

14 Jul 2015 19:25:36
Not a chance we definitely have more than that its just people don't want to part with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 21:43:46
Or trust Martinez to spend it.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 00:35:55
"Payet was top target" is nonsense. This guy play winger all of his career but once France international move him play attacking midfielder. He played well next match manager did it again he was still good but at club he is winger. Meaning bobby trust twice good no.10?

15 Jul 2015 08:16:22

The new away kit looks like children's pj's that should frighten the s**t out of the opposition!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2015 21:22:51
Frighten most of them, except one player in Sunderland.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 16:25:44
So the kit numbers have been announced and, well, WHY THE F*** IS KONE STILL NUMBER 9? Give it to Rom lad, take number 88 or something. TC is number 15, after the amount of people that rate him. Doof Loofy is number 19, can't be any worse than our last number 19 *shudders*. McGeady is still number 7, after the amount of stone he needs to lose to be considered only slightly overweight.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2015 19:25:39
I thought the exact same here swan! Our number 7 & 9 shirts are in the wrong place! Give rom 9, Barkley 10 and Spanish Gerry 7! - Kone should just have a 0 on his kit

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 13:56:31
Mcgeady staying according to Bobby. I know he's got his critics and rightfully so. i'm keane to see how we would do with a extended run in the team. If he's Blue i'm behind him.

14 Jul 2015 14:46:22
To be fair he said Eto'o was going nowhere then about 2 hours after his press conference Eto'o had joined Sampdoria. He has had many chances in the team and has failed them all, awful player.

Agree2 Disagree1

14 Jul 2015 16:42:59
He is nothing more than a squad player, Lennon would be a starter as will delofeou and mirallas!

14 Jul 2015 13:21:40
Martinez insists that Aiden McGeady is going nowhere in the transfer window and is staying at the club. How much trouble are we in that we have to keep him around?! If Sunderland were interested in him, I'd have driven him there myself. Maybe Advocaat sent a note to Martinez that just said 'April fool! - Sorry, couldn't wait til April'

Believable1 Unbelievable3

14 Jul 2015 08:25:12
So Martinez said yesterday that there be no big signing this year like there was with lukaku, but he still wings 1/2 more players but for the right money as he think we're strong enough I hope he having a laugh because are defence is short of centre bk an right bk cover

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2015 10:14:47
Lets hope its just him blagging the press, we all know in order to progress we must strengthen and get better each season to stay in touch with or overtake the clubs ahead of us! We should be spending in excess of £35m this summer on quality players, it would be arrogant o think we are good enough with the squad we have to get a European place!

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Jul 2015 10:38:45
Joke of a board with a joke of a manager which means we are now a joke of a club who cannot and will not break into that top 4 ever under this regime.

Agree2 Disagree3

14 Jul 2015 11:12:10
Do we really need a big name signing at present. IMO we only actually need players to cover for injuries. We have a set of youngsters that could develop into very good players but unless they get game time they won't develop at all. IMO the youngsters are key if they get a decent amount of game time we may see a side starting to develop that would form the spine for year to come. We could then look to the marquee signings for that extra push.

My preference for this season would be to predominately strengthen with loans and keep the cash. Maybe at a push get an experienced CB who would be happy to push Jags and Stones for a place but not necessarily be looking at guaranteed a starting place.

I still think we can push for a top 5 finish with the squad we have but top 4 is unrealistic. I also don't think we have the quality to get there just by adding 1 or 2 more signings.

Without the distraction of Europa we will have a much better chance of progressing in a cup comp which is what I would really like to see.

Don't get me wrong I know we really do need to replace at least half a dozen players but I don't think we can afford to do it in one hit, as the money we would get for them wouldn't pay for the same quality of player in most cases.

Lets hope we get a good start to the season as when we are confident we are a pretty good team and hard to play against.

And a goalkeeper.

Agree2 Disagree1

14 Jul 2015 13:46:18
I'll be happy to keep some cash back to replace Martinez in case go things don't improve. If they do improve then give him more cash in January.

14 Jul 2015 14:18:26
Valdes wants out of United now apparently De Gea is staying might be worth a punt, bet he would ask for stupid wages though.

Agree1 Disagree2

14 Jul 2015 14:49:11
stupid wages, barely played and it is a wonder he lasted so long at Barca as he is dodgy. But to be fair they have a habit of buying/keeping players not good enough for that level. Look at Vermaelan.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Jul 2015 16:41:24
one or two players last year a couple this year maybe one in jan, that's half a new team if they are of the right quality we can challenge, if we keep signing average player's to bolster the squad numbers we will win F All!

Agree0 Disagree1

14 Jul 2015 18:36:48
I don't know why everybody puts such stock in what Martinez says, he said Fellaini was was in his plan he left, he said there was little chance of del returning he signed, he's a blagger and a good one at that, so stop worrying people because he's not stupid he knows exactly what we need.

14 Jul 2015 07:43:00
Just getting ready to go to work and Roberto has already ruined my day. Apparently No major signings expected!! He is looking to send Garbutt out on loan!! And Mcgeady is going nowhere!!
Apparently we have a really good mix of players. yep. quality and c@$p.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

14 Jul 2015 14:49:44
What is up with sending Garbutt out on loan?.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 16:08:05
i still expect a marquee signing probably not a Lukaku size fee but at least 10m+ on a quality player, sending Garbutt out on loan is a good thing he needs game time and still needs to work on his defending, hopefully can get a full season under his belt in the BPL and come back stronger to replace Baines, as for McGeady he'll go if we can bring Lennon back for te right price, if not he'll stay till probably January because I don't think we've seen the last of Lennon in an Everton hirt even if we don't get him this summer.

Agree1 Disagree1

14 Jul 2015 18:01:52
I was hoping Garbutt would get more game time at Everton, yeah he is still learning but his appetite to get up and down the wing adds more urgency to our play.
People were moaning about baines last season having Garbutt as standby is ideal especially as oviedo is still not fit or match ready.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 19:31:30
People can moan about Baines all they want he's still one of the best left backs in Europe, plus its rare he gets long term injuries, Like I said Garbutt needs a full season starting every game possible to progress to the next level, I agree we need back up but hopefully Oviedo can get past the injuries and Galloway can always step in if needed.

Agree2 Disagree0

15 Jul 2015 08:40:06
Baines was the 11th most creative player in the prem last year, not defender, player, that's y garbutt needs to go on loan, Baines is still class and still a force going forward

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2015 07:30:19
Sergi Roberto is being linked with a season long loan I have seen. Don't know much about him but would he be the player to fill the No. 10 role? As a barca player you would think he would have a bit more creativity something that was missing from almost everyone but gibbo last year.

Shocked to the core tonight and still can't believe what I've just heard.
Liverpool fan on Talk Sport who (not telling porkies here) was actually from Liverpool!
We might not be the best but we sure do have a damn more dignity in the way we do our business.
Their 49 million might get them Europa!
