Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

14 Jul 2013 21:07:59
Eds: judging by the "signed" posts, this forum has a solid core of regular contributors, but in terms of numbers it would still appear to be just a small percentage of the overall Everton fanbase - in particular as a proportion of the 30,000 or so supporters who regularly attend home matches and/or the several thousands of our fans who travel to away games.
I have two questions:
(1) How many individual posters do you think this forum has?
(2) Do you believe that the posters are truly representative of most fans - and cover all points on the general fans' spectrum of opinion - or are the posters just the most vociferous in support of extreme positive and negative viewpoints? {Ed025's Note - its hard to tell sid, but i reckon in the thousands mate...they are representative of the kind of fans who take part in forums such as this, you do get the odd keyboard warrior, but on the whole it is made up of passionate fans mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think it is only you who worries about signing rumours, most here don't care, just interested.

A rumour room is a gossip page for blokes, move on over the signed posts

Agree0 Disagree0

PeterB5875: unlike you, I am a name not a number. Only joking - after all, blokes gossiping should be able to take a joke ;-)

What formation/system did we play today? I not bothered abou result it's all about fitness in preseason but interested to know about the transition.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

4-2-3-1
With Robles slightly advanced in passing role
Gibson dropping deeper to receive ball in defence
Attacking 3 interchangable

Agree0 Disagree0

It was same as last year really 4-3-3 / 4-5-1. one thing that was different though was everyone could swapping positions every 10 mins or so

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't Robles the new GK? How advanced was he?

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with AJ it did look like we were playing 4-2-3-1. but I have a feeling it will change again yet once few more players back off the hols.

Wonder what number Coleman is as Hibert is still number 2 but McAleny is number 23?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you watched the match yesterday, you'd have heard the commentators mention the squad numbers will be revealed today.

we have been quoted to signing all these crappy players, I don't think we need anymore unless felli & baines go, then I think just a big signing would be enough. (save the pennies on crap and sign some big player)1 for the price of three.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Baines to sign contract this week. GIMO

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Jul 2013 07:28:25
I hope so GIMO, what a signal that would send out mate, it would lift everyone and would be a firm kick in the teeth of that ginger manc manager

i expect us to sell baines for 18 million

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Baines isn't leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

United will only go to 12mil so I think your wrong, that will be rejected too

The transfer window is open for the best part of another two months. That's plenty of time to bring in more players.
Robert Martinez has been quoted as wanting to bring in one player for each unit. He's done that with Joel (keeper), Alcaraz (defender), and Kone (forward). I imagine that Deulofeu is a bonus that is a very welcome - but unexpected until quite recently - addition to the squad-building plans. That seems to leave, as many other posters have stated, room for a midfielder.
RM is clearly comfortable (quite rightly IMHO) in not only getting a coaching/ support team around him that he knows and trusts, but also in bringing in players, to begin with, that he's (in the main) familiar with and have (in the main again) premier league experience.
It also looks like he'll give the younger players (and those squad players previously on the fringe of the first team) a chance to impress during pre-season - a clean slate for them as it were. If they don't shape up, then I've no doubt he'll move them on and bring in better talents. It's up to all players at the club - whether they were in or out of favour with the previous management - to do well for RM and ensure a place in the team or at least in the first-team squad.
Whatever we might need to bring in from outside, we've still, as I've already said, the best part of two months to do it. Finally, I don't want Baines or Fellaini to leave, as IMHO they're absolutely key to us doing well. Once a blue, always a blue!

would be happy if we make one more signing in the midfield department of James McCarthy. I think we are missing a box to box midfielder who has the pace to change a game but the passing talents to move the ball on quickly and easily. he has the precision in his pass to play a good passing football game, but also an eye to spot a run around the corner from a striker to slip him into the box to score too. so my team would line up like this:
Howard/Robles
Coleman Jags Distan Baines
Fellaini Gibson
McCarthy
Defelou Mirallas
Kone/Jelavic
Bench: Hibbo, Alcaraz, Peenuts, Barklay, ozzie, vellios, anichebe plus other youth set up.
CraigHuytonBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

I couldn't disagree more. Wouldn't drop Pienarr, we have one of the best left sides in the premiership and wouldn't sign McCarthy for the simple reason he costs far too much money and we could most definitely buy better with the cash. Why we haven't just give West Ham 3.5m for Diame is beyond me, he was immense last season and I like the fact we're being linked with Victor Moses. I hope we can sort tht one out aswell as I can see him being a great investment for the club if the 8m price tag is true. For me if we can add these two players and keep our two best players we will be a big force in the Premiership next season.

What kit did we play in today? And how did we play?

Wrighty

Believable0 Unbelievable0

New kit/crap

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought they played in dark blue!

Wrighty

Agree0 Disagree0

The team played in Royal Blue of course - shirts, shorts, and socks, as Austria Vienna played in white.
Still not convinced by the white rings on the Everton shirt sleeves and still not convinced by the new badge. But they're both done deals for this coming season, so I'll have to move on and apply my energy to supporting the team. Once a blue, always a blue!

Only caught the second half, but some positives, for sure. Joel, Oviedo and Duffy all looked good (although I got the impression Duffy was poor first half). Great to see Hibbo back again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I watched the game mate, and yes Duffy was awful first half.

Agree0 Disagree0

Duffy was woeful on the ball, but then again so was Jags/Fellaini and a few others. Conor Grant looked comfortable which is positive for youth prospects given our England Under 20s weren't available. Browning seemed to struggle though. Oviedo looked lively and Joel made some very good saves.

Agree0 Disagree0

EFC looked uncomfortable with Martinez new style of play. Not sure EFC have the players yet to fit into his tactics

Agree0 Disagree0

Bobby will see that and sort it out some more familiar faces will be brought in I think, Moses and Diame possibly, N'Zogbia also an option.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2013 20:19:21
Fellaini looked completely disinterested he's gone based on hos body language.
The new keeper looked even less interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's early days, boys. The players have been working with the new manager and coaches for just ten days and this was their first "proper" match. Give them all a chance for crying out loud. If we see no progress after two or three seasons, then I'll understand criticism, but after one pre-season match - you're 'aving a giraffe! ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who is negative about today's performance needs to ask themselves about there own knowledge about football, a week back in training, half the team reserve players. players playin at half speed, adjusting to different systems. its the first game in pre season. its about timing for the new season. todays game is as important as utds and city's they both lost.

Milan can't shift Robinho. They are only trying (close to) to sign Honda on a free in January. He is ours if we make a bid. Bet you we don't though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We don't even know for sure that Martinez wants him though to be fair. It's all speculation really and fans hoping we will sign im. For alls we know he may not have the slightest interest in him and may think he won't fit into the side he is planning on building. Not saying that's the case but before we start stamping our feet because he goes (if he does) to Milan we need to take a step back and think that maybe we weren't in for him to begin with.

14 Jul 2013 16:43:50
Sorry but Duffy your not good enough for Everton ste 46

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was wondering last year why he never got a chance, I can see why

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, he was woeful.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just finished watching the game hard for us to criticise because its the 1st game and all kids packed thru the team thought young silva looked lively but victor come on lad one good pass to km and that was it don't forget moyes ain't here no more so you won't play every week playing like that sort it out lad or you will be a gone before the end of august

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2013 19:44:28
Shane duffy? The same shane duffy everyone was begging us to play last season? Has one bad game and he isn't good enough how stupid can you get he is still young and its his first game since well since last pre season of last season so shut up people and get behind him I assume when mirallas has one bad half he should be released or sold on the cheap how about baines one bad half we should never play him again? Give up with you lot give the lad a chance for christs sake

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with you BlueSkittle.

We've just played a team that started it's season last week. They are more prepared and fitter than we are.

I gather you'll be the fans that said I told you so when Kone doesn't score during a game or Alcaraz is too old because he misses a tackle.

Give the lad a break and let him ease into the team over preseason. When I've seen him come into the team he's done good. I even remember when he got a few games for us a couple of season ago and he done brilliant with Johnny.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ye he didn't get a game that's the whole point, all aspects of his game were poor today against let's face it a second rate foward line, I didn't wanna crticise anyone but he it was that bad he stood out

Agree0 Disagree0

Duffy was the first to say he played badly! i'm sure he will come good over the next few games none of the lads looked there best in the game joel had a good few one on one saves tho

As a follower of Napoli, I sincerely hope we don't sign Rolando, he's terrible. Heitinga is better in my opinion.

Wouldn't go nowhere near James mcarthy for 15-17 mill! 5 million maximum whelan makes him out to be world class but he's just average

Believable0 Unbelievable0

100% with you on that friend. anything over 5 million and they're having a laugh. He's an average player punching above his weight in a small team

Personally, I hope we don't sign him full stop not for any price.

I remember someone posting that Roberto Martinez was a "charlatan" when we were searching for a new manager and I posted that he was in fact a "Catalan" ;-)
I suggest that because he is Catalan that's why we've got Deulofeo on a year-long loan. Without that connection IMHO we wouldn't have had a sniff - and I also reckon that the previous managerial regime probably wouldn't have wanted him. I hope that Roberto Martinez improves the expansive, progressive, entertaining, attacking elements of our play alongside retaining our defensive strength, organisation, team spirit and determination, to create a winning combination.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

14 Jul 2013 11:30:53
I would go for matri, diame and mcarthy if we sold fellaini

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good players, but obviously the questions are whether or not we get an acceptable offer for Fellaini AND which players Roberto Martinez would prefer to bring in with the resulting funds. I'd rather keep Fellaini and aim for UEFA Champions League qualification, as that's what he wants IMHO. Definitely do not want to see Baines leave. I appreciate that every player has his price at every club, but Baines is too important to our play - even if Roberto Martinez modifies the style this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he went i'd go for honda. malanga. rolando/manga nd maybe kev gremerio from psg

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2013 11:04:11
Just read that Martinez doesn't think he will have a full squad to choose from till after the games in America! Bit disappointed we have to wait longer to see what he can do with a fully fit squad! But looking forward to watching the action today, been going mad with no everton to watch, tennis and cricket are not my thing!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How many of you out there who aren't lucky enough to have travelled to Austria will be watching the game on the EvertonTV live stream today? For £3-99, I thought it was a small price to pay to satisfy my need (addiction?) for Everton action and news. Don't expect too much - our full squad isn't available (some still recovering from international duty), our other players are only part way through pre-season fitness schedule, Austria Vienna are ahead of us since they're preparing for imminent European qualifying games - but just to see how Roberto Martinez sets up the team will be vey interesting.

Why are people still raving on about fer. Does it not say something when only norwich wanted him. Same goes for cornelius to cardiff, bony to swansea if these players were top notch better teams would be after them. As for our own signings I think they are squad builders and the best is to come.
bluepaddy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Roberto Martinez was genuinely interested - and any deal was acceptable value for money - then IMHO we'd have been more active in pursuing those players.
I suspect that for many posters it's just a case of wanting lots of big money incoming transfers AND for other posters it's fear that these players might prove too successful at their new clubs. Either way, although we needed to increase our squad with quality incoming transfers (and, hopefully, players coming from our U-21 and U-18 groups), we can only play 11 on the field with 7 on the bench and have some reasonable squad rotation throughout the season. A strong 25-player first-team squad (plus any other players under 21) to select from sounds good to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

They are good players, though. Bony especially I believe we were interested in in the January window but Moyes pulled out of it. The money in the league at the moment means teams below us last year can bring in real quality. It doesn't matter that they are going to slightly less fancied clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2013 07:25:14
Aint no one thought we can only name a 25man squad with the recent signings and kids we got 1 space left

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No need to register and count u21 player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks shuda relised hears to eagerly watchin and waitin. For the new peeps oh the joy of internet trawlin lol

Agree0 Disagree0

The issue with any Premier League squad is the number of non-homegrown over-21 players in it. Each club is limited to no more than 17 of those. That leaves at least 8 of the 25 that can be over-21 but must be homegrown. (So we could have 15 of the former and 10 of the latter. )
Any number of under-21 players can fill any spare places in the squad AND any under-21 player can be selected to play even if not named in the 25-man squad. Effectively, there's no need to name any under-21 player in the 25-man squad - although they will obviously need a shirt-number if selected to play.
There are other rules for UEFA CL and EL squads, but that won't affect us this season :- (

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2013 02:28:22
Will someone, the chairman or someone, with the clout to make it clear, Baines is not for sale, and yes, I know everyone has their price, but if you are claiming to be the biggest club in the world, you want the best in the world, then you get to pay the top of the market, price, baines is the best left back in the world, for the best, you pay the best. Thus anything below 25mill, will not even be considered. {Ed025's Note - i hope im wrong, but i think the club would accept a lot less, but your right, we should just say "not for sale"..at any price..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why say anything? If the club do it only fuels the papers.

Look at the Rooney situation. Because Moyes talks about it to the press he gets asked the question at every press conference.

It's best to keep silent and keep the oxygen out of the fire.

It's hardly being mentioned now except for the same story to be repeated mainly on News Now. If you read each one it's the same written piece on each website.

So Chill and sit back and focus on us getting off to a good start today.
