{Ed025's Note - cheers degsy..

One thing we underestimate with RM is his stubbornness!
1. We still are worrying about losing players in the window, it won't happen, he has said top players are not for sale end of!
2. We are expecting big names, I don't expect this either, he is building so not surprised by the young Swiss lad or Sam Byram!
3. Selling players on the edge he has said Naismith and McGeady possible loans with Gibbo, Naisey may go permanently but if the price suits.

I have to add although this season has been poor first half it is getting better! COYB.

Keeping Kone (instead of a more productive player in Naismith) , playing International players out of position and playing his favourites without regard to form, so much so that points lost instead of points gained means we are currently bottom half instead of top 6-7. That is the other side of his stubbornness.

14 Jan 2016 21:29:36
See Swansea are looking at Naismith think we are losing a real good squad player if he does leave want to wish him all the very best done s lot of good work outside of Goodison think rm is a idiot letting him go and keeping hold of his little pet kone.

{Ed025's Note - im with you dixie..

14 Jan 2016 21:34:23
I agree but if the lad wants game time and has to watch Kone get the nod I don't blame him! true pro and genuine nice guy! Best of luck Naisey!

I agree he gives 100% and his commitment is second to none however the PL is changing every season and I feel imo he does not have the pace. I know this will upset some of my fellow blues but we are trying to build around a younger fitter team and sadly feel he should leave not only for the good of Everton but for his own career.

Costa's obviously'a man on a mission'to prove what a hard bst##d he is. Let's see how he copes when the 'Baby Faced Assassin' gets at him on Saturday!
Said on here when we signed this lad, he's the new Peter Reid and I've seen nothing yet to suggest I was wrong.
At last some guts in the CM position!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i heard mickey vann is the referee for that one mushy.. :)

14 Jan 2016 21:27:02
ha ha I would love to see costa have a go at besic,mo has got that steely look in his eyes as if to say "dont underestemate me my freind because after my next tackle you really will look like the elephant man. this baby face ain't scared of no one. pity gerrard and keano are not still knocking about because I reckon mo would love that battle.

Good signing but not sure we will see a big name this window! With euro coming up why would Yarmolenko be sold early or cheaply good tournament then top money same as we would expect for our players!

{Ed025's Note - fair point wakka mate..

i thought mori was brilliant last night almost stones like with passing and bringing the ball out we now have 3 centre halfs who would get into any team from the top four sides. AND THAT definitely DOES NOT INCLUDE THEM LOT ACROSS THE WAY.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

14 Jan 2016 15:33:15
We have great defensive players but are conceding far too many goals so is it a lack of quality training on defence as we know Martinez puts no emphasis on defending? . If you look at goals ratio we have 4th highest goals scored with 36 goals for In PL but are 12th with 29 goals against. Therein lies our problem I'm afraid.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Jan 2016 16:36:50
Defence is a lot stronger with jags at the back. always shouting and reading situations. Stones needs to stop throwing in a last minute tackle in the area leaving the ref a match winning decision. Could have ruined 90 mins of work at the end just like against stoke. Stoke penalty was harsh last night most refs would have not had much to decide. Maybe he should try sheparding the ball out sterling would have overrun it then. Wont be surprised if city get one in the semi.

14 Jan 2016 12:38:59
stones won't be going to real madrid any time soon ssn reporting they have been banned from regestring any new players for the next 2 transfer windows.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

14 Jan 2016 14:31:28
They can still sign in this window so in theory might want to tie it up quick as they know they are banned for a year.

all the defence 8+
Osman a 4
subs a 4,
RM 2-, lol.

14 Jan 2016 01:43:09
Best 90 minutes of defense this year. Howard had a good game. A few thru balls to Rom were just a hair off. Mori great value for the price.

But.

Stones did not look comfortable acing as the right back.
The opening lineup screamed "defense defense and go for the draw. "

Not certain about the subs of Kone and Pienaar.
Naisy and Lennon might have been better

Oh. forgot MOTM. Mo Besic.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

14 Jan 2016 20:42:49
Imo Oviado should have come on with Pienaar with peanut playing on the right, to support Stones and stop the supply to Sterling, and Oviado on the left to prevent Sagna threat from wide left. This would have allowed Barkley to push forward to support Lukaku and would have made us much more dangerous on the break.

Good result tonight
I'm made up for Howard he's had a lot of stick lately some deserved but some rediculous don't get me wrong I think he is past his best and the time has come to replace him but although he has made some howlers he has took the blame for some very shoddy defending as well, we don't seem to have a defender on the books who can stop or deal with a cross from wide into the box.
Now reading on here it's Ozzy's turn for stick even before he has touched the ball!
He didn't pick the team someone else did give him the stick or better still wait until after the match to give out the stick, before and during the game let's do what we're supposed to do and get behind the team let's stop the sarcastic.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

14 Jan 2016 07:08:22
Agree S1878 some people are not happy unless they're giving someone on the team stick. Doesn't really matter who it is as long as there's someone there someone will get plenty of stick. Scapegoat really.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2016 09:19:05
Don't get confused with giving stick and fair comment. Howard had a good game last night and has been a good servant of the Club, but overall this season has not been in form and comments have reflected that. Roberto Martinez has a blind spot when it comes to defence and assessment of performance is there for all to see, as is his favouritism. Last night we had a good first half and defended well second half, lucky to get away with no penalty award. Not putting Mirralas on suggests to me that both Naismith and he are away. Overall a very good performance although not 'incredible', still 11th and if we are brutally honest, Roberto nice as he is, does not appear to have the ability to get his Teams any higher, to me he is a Championship Manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont want to make excuses for him DM but this is a learning curve for bobby as well, the jump and weight of expectation from wigan to everton is massive, im not his biggest fan as you know but appreciate that rome was not built in a day, my problem is him picking his favourites and his ineptitude defensively as well as his set piece naiveity, but im prepared to give him a bit more time to see if him and the team can progress mate..

14 Jan 2016 10:20:00
And actually that performance last night was more reminiscent of a Moyes Everton side than Martinez. More like that from the start of the season coupled with Martinez attacking style and we would be up in the top 4 consistently.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2016 10:27:54
With Robertos insistence on playing Kone in preference to Mirrallas the question has to be asked why not play 4 4 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2016 11:46:14
I agree with Ed. I started this season prepared to give Martinez till the end of the season to pass proper judgment.

I have given plenty of 'fair comments' as you call them duncansmum on Howard and Martinez.

To be honest its getting tiresome at this stage. I want what pretty much everyone wants on this site. Joel, Mirallas to start. Would like to see more of Lennon and Naismith also as apposed to Kone and Howard.

I was very annoyed when we lost all of those winnable games. There was enough there to suggest Martinez could of done better. But there was an element of bad luck. Like Ed I'm not making excuses for Martinez. Just trying to give an honest and fair view on how the season is going.

As Ed says Rome wasn't built in a day and who knows in 5 years from now we could be winning trophies with Martinez.

Personally and honestly I can't see it happening. But I'm sure the majority of supporters at Utd didn't foresee what was going to happen when Alex took the reins. Ferguson did struggle in the dawn period of his management at Utd.

I live in hope that will happen to us one day. I'm prepared to give Martinez till the end of the season to make my mind up fully.

The defence done very well last night against probably the best attacking team in the premiership. If we can keep them scoreless and let Stoke score 4 and Bournemouth score 3 against us something doesn't add up.

Hopefully its Martinez working on defence and they finally have figured out a way to defend as a team. If that happened consistently and the attack continues their form we would be top 5 at least.

Fingers crossed we sort out the defence on a consistent basis.

{Ed001's Note - thankfully I got to edit this post and not Ed025 or we would never have heard the end of it on our widget! Someone finally agrees with him, he wouldn't know how to cope.}

14 Jan 2016 12:12:51
Ed001 its all about opinions you know. That's usually what Ed025 says! 😁.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that's only because no one else usually has the same opinion as him!}

14 Jan 2016 12:26:51
I agree with him.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2016 10:17:23
I will agree with that Ed025. Maybe Roberto is a good coach (actually I have always said he is a good coach that needs a good Manager) on his own but as a Manager needs to be more ruthless or choosy in the specialist coaches he hires around him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats fair comment DM..

14 Jan 2016 17:10:38
Defence was good last night and hopefully there's more of that to come. But up until last night you would think there was no defensive coach at the club at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2016 19:12:58
Actually I have had an epiphany, we have International players in defence and an International Goal Keeper that has been out of form and maybe just maybe it wasn't the defence that had no confidence in him but him having no confidence in his defence which led him to be indecisive. Coincidental that with Jags back in the centre Tim had a good game and the defence had a good game?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - now that has thrown a spanner in the works DM..im not buying it myself but its certainly one to ponder mate..
