How brilliant are Leicester and good luck to them, but it seems we have been given some luck in that Huth and Drinkwater will be missing against us on Sat, I just hope we play with this in mind or is that beyond our management.

Really hope they don't win it, can't have a club who's fans use clappers to create atmosphere win the league.

I can't see it. The refs will start giving decisions against them as much as they give them FOR the red side.

my main concern for Sat is down our Left Roberto will play Kone who doesn't help out at left back and Baines will have a really tough afternoon against mhryez who looked world class last night.

I'd put Galloway back in. He's better defensively than Baines and Mahrez can't be given an opportunity to expose us.

how about galloway at LB and Baines at LM.

15 Dec 2015 22:59:43
duncansmum, my worry with that is it means no support for Rom (which Kone gives us) and no actual threat going forward. Baines can't go past people and would be very predictable considering how one footed he is, he would end up passing it backwards or hitting the first man with a cross.

Chelsea are trying again to sign John Stones.
Perhaps Everton should follow the advice I gave a young female colleague at work who is such a nice, polite girl.
After months of being pestered for a date by some guy (who wouldn't take a hint) I advised her, 'You have to be cruel to be kind'.
Well she did,
'Will you just piss off and never bother me again, I'm not bleeding interested in you! 'was her response!
It had the desired effect!
Please follow this advice Everton when that spotty teenager comes knocking in January.

Its about time for the idiots at the FA and premier league who take there share and bribes out of the game we as true fans love get there act together and run the transfer windows better. a club should be allowed to inform them a player is not for sale at any price and any further harasment and unsettling of the player as happened in august should result in point deduction. could give the media the same info.

{Ed025's Note - good idea that AB..

Over the next year or so, assuming Champions league qualification is not achieve, it is quite possible that Stones and Lukaku would leave the club. The Mirallas situation is uncertain and Delofue could always return to Barcelona. With Howard expected to be replaced in addition to the other 4 that's nearly half the team.
I see Everton being linked with Chambers at Arsenal. If he is unhappy at Arsenal sat on the bench it is unlikely he would sign for Everton to do the same, and therefore be expecting to play. I understand getting someone in to replace the expected departure of Stones is good planning. Also Vidic name is also being linked. while he was good at Man U he will not want to be a bench warmer. jAgs is getting older also.
If the departure of the above 4 did happen where do the fans see suitable replacements with the same quality to satisfy the supporters expectations. I find it difficult to identify anyone short term.

I can remember putting a post similar to yours a couple of seasons ago and my fear of an ageing squad and players retiring or leaving. I have to say that the signing of Lukaku was the one thing at the time as I saw as maybe a way forward. Stones was obviously class as well and mature well beyond his years. My post at the time got slagged off and I understand why to some degree. I pointed out that RM was signing a lot of players that did not contribute with goals and our set pieces were quite terrible compared to Moyes' era. I honestly think that Stones is Bobby Moore reincarnated and will captain England for a very long time. Whether we can hold onto him is another matter. As for the goals. I dread to think were we would be without Lukaku. Ok another center forward would contribute some goals. but our position would be much lower with an average center forward who scored less goals. obvious I know. but I feel we are too reliant on Lukaku. The players signed seem to be low scorers added to which, the likes of Baines and Coleman do not seem to be getting into the positions to chip in with a few like they used to. Time will tell I guess.

Eh, I think in terms of scoring goals Del boy and Barkley have done their bit. Kone hasn't done too bad either. There goals tally are pretty decent at stage of the season imo.

Neither do you Cobyone. you do repeat yourself. You do repeat yourself. lol. Serious though. where would we be in the league with say a center forward who scored half the goals of Lukaku. He was the real bit of inspiration RM did. We must be pretty close now to having a successful side that wins trophies. its a matter of holding on to our better young ones and bringing in a few new faces . especially at keeper position as everyone knows (except RM) )

Over the next couple of years and IF we don't reach champions league then Stones will probably be sold, although I would hate to see it I think it will be the easiest position to replace as we have Holgate and Galloway that will hopefully be ready to step up as centre backs. I think it will be a lot harder to replace Lukaku and if Stones price is going to be £45m what would that make Roms being a striker? As for the concerns over the age of our squad I think Roberto needs the credit for lowering the age from the squad Moyes had.

Didn't RM do the same thing initially at Wigan with young players coming through. Then those players got sold and Wigan became perennial fighters. Now we are a much better side and have a much better Squad than Wigan had then, nevertheless the pattern of RM (he brought his staff with him don't forget) with his management/coaching is beginning to look achingly familiar. I for one will not accept any excuses about look where Leicester are compared with us should we not do the business on Saturday against them. Raneiri on the other hand can say the same as he did when beating Chelsea, Leicester Team worth about 2 million against 200.

It's probably stating the obvious, but here goes. As long as we stay in the Premier League - and the television money continues rolling in - then we would appear to be under no financial pressure to transfer our best players. It's also clear - RM has stated this quite openly - that it will be Champions League football that will be a major factor in our best players staying. I can imagine Stones and Lukaku moving to one of the wealthy European elite clubs at some stage, but (hopefully! ) not yet. As for Barkley, he's an Evertonian through and through and I don't hear him saying anything other than he wants to stay and do well here. Deulofeu - the other member of our "awesome foursome" - is also making all the right noises despite Barcelona having the buyback arrangement.

Well Martinez did promise champions league football when he took the Everton job. So he put the pressure on himself. No one happier than me if he succeeds.

On the financial end of things yea we are pretty sound in the short, medium term. Long term is a concern with the stadium. If we solve the stadium problem we'd have a very exciting future for a very long time to come.

for far to long now the great fans of this great club have negativity towards players and staff am one that stands guilty of that but I genuinely believe that if we can all start believing in this great young team then I think that will transpire down on to the pitch yes we need a new keeper and centre forward but that's not going to happen until the summer let's all start been positive and see were it takes us I have no doubt its going to be a great ride let's all enjoy it wile they are here no matter how you look at it the future it bright for everton fc.

And despite my posts appearing negative I am in agreement with the two above. Roberto though to me just appears to be giving lip service. He says in his latest missive that we need to be more ruthless, my point on that was, that, that is down to not only the players but the Staff and Roberto as the Leader have to shoulder a great deal of responsibility.

Just my opinion on the season.
Nobody is denying that this Everton squad is the best we've had for a long time. Credit must got to moyes and martinezand the youth scouts and coaches for assembling it. As people have said we are a couple of quality players away from consistently challenging up the top end. This then needs the club to provide a conveyor belt of good young talent to replace any the leave or retire.
Obviously the majority agree that the goalkeeper is the main position to be sorted and a back up to rom.
Anyway totally went off point there. The main reason for this post is that the league is so open and we can't get too disappointed with our last three draws. At least we didn't lose. Just look, before yesterday arsenal (top of the pile) lost at West Brom and drew with Norwich. Liverpool have been beat at home by palace and drew with west Brom (just)
No one would have predicted Bournemouth to beat Chelsea and utd in consecutive games (we are the only other side to do this in prem history, 2010) . I suppose what I'm saying is this season is so unpredictable we should just show the boys our total support and fasten the seatbelts and hold on for the ride.

why dose nobody ever comment on the backroom staff on here, I know bobby is in charge but jones his number 2 when at Newcastle was not the best Newcastle leaked goals so badly I think that has a lot to do with it your number 2 has a lot of input into the team I think its him who should go simple.

14 Dec 2015 12:24:04
As a Manager you take full responsibility in any job. You take home the big bucks so the big decisions lie with you. If Bobby's problem is his staff then it is his responsibility to replace them with people good enough for the role.

14 Dec 2015 13:16:34
I have consistently mentioned the back room Staff but also a good Manager/Leader is one that can not only listen but have the trust to delegate and if not working the courage to get rid. Our attack side is excellent, our defence is not and has not (last season and this) . If a simple minded fool like me can see it!

Think big nev should come in a goalkeeping coach. Imagine the rollacking if you made a bad judgment. think it would only happen once.
