didnt watch the full england game because to be honest they bore me but nice to see jags is a regular and will hopefully be first choice in the world cup and even though I want baines to be first choice for the world cup I know roy will pick cole but anyway enough about england I just want to say keep the faith in the team because we will obviously have times when we think 'god martinez is stupid' and all but remember that even though we will criticize martinez for some of the decisions he makes which don't work out but there will be plenty of high's for us and i'm excited so let's get behind him regardless of what he does and now think just because he hasn't signed anyone for a while would you rather if you had the choice would you rather sack him and hope a new manager brings more players in or would you rather keep martinez knowing he will sign more players because imo he will sign someone else and I can't see it happening before the norwich game but I can see someone joining before deadline day maybe you can't see it but we will have to wait and see but for now let's support him and wait patiently for him to get the right players and respect his choices and respect what he wants to do with the team it may not suit all the fans but until he makes those choices let's get behind him

The lack of punctuation hurt my brain. But agree with you skittles, bobby will bring in another player or 2 by the end of the transfer window if we have the cash. Martinez deserves a chance, and for me the season will be a time of growth and learning for our players as we adapt to the passing style and tactics so I will be happy with top 8/10 imo. however I would love a resurgence under Bobby with us making top 4!

Thought baines had a cracking match tonight for England, especially 2nd half. So glad he's staying, now sign him up bill!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Who said he is staying?

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines is staying don't know tomorrow.

Anyone else notice how much more Bainsey saw of the ball after Gerard and Rooney went off?
Steve the blue {Ed025's Note - i did steve...

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And the amount of times he was in space down the left wing and gerrard and rooney went back inside instead of giving the ovious pass - they were even facing him and still turned back inside when there was no option on that way - something loked a bit odd about it if you ask me

Agree0 Disagree0

Reading way too much into it what they don't like baines don't be silly its not school I don't like him so not passing Whiltshire is key to midfield not Gerrard he will be captain and that is it

HI All
Just wondering as fans we think we have a group of youngsters that can be brought through together under Roberto and developed into top class footballers who could eventually help us realise a few dreams again.
We bang on and on about spend, spend, spend, but times are changing and reality is perhaps biting. If u look at are age grade footballers we seem to develop internationals at will.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Joel
RB Stones Duffy Garbutt
Ludstrum CM
Barkley Green Kennedy
ST

think all of these will make it or stand a good chance of making it and I know we have a lot of young strikers doing well

Agree0 Disagree0

How did you miss out connor grant and mcaleny?

theres another class centre forward on his was through the ranks called hallem hope, going to be the next shearer in my opinion. CraigHuytonBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Everyone bangs on about green but does anyone know how good he is yes we all heard he was good the next Rooney gazza but we signed him 3 years ago and he must be 18+ surely we would get chance to see him if he is good enough used to get call ups for england youth but nothing for 6 months is he injured I know he was a kid when we signed him but surely the club can tell us how he is progressing we did invest a lot of money on him for something in 5 years time hopefully you can shine some light ed. {Ed025's Note - he is doing very well and progressing nicely, the step up to premiership is immense, but i expect him to make it big time within the next 2 years, throwing them in at the deep end is frowned upon these days, and it will take as long as it takes..

Agree0 Disagree0

Strikers are the hardest step up that's why I just alluded to them remember how good the Vaughan/Anichebe partnership was going to be

Agree0 Disagree0

Im guessing you seen he scored 2 craig the other day, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but he won't be the next shearer, or even close

Agree0 Disagree0

You all need to watch the reserves more, Chris long is looking real good, 18 and traveled with England u20s to the World Cup. I expect good things from this kid.

"Im guessing you seen he scored 2 craig the other day, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but he won't be the next shearer, or even close" Nope. I have been watching the lad play since he was 14 years of age he has pace, power and the natural ability to score goals. He's one of the best natural goal scorers we have produced for many years. Albeit the step up from where he is playing now to the prem is a gulf by way of goalkeeping and defending class against him, I still think he will do very well. let's just allow the kids to develop and hope that one day we get the influx into the first team that united got when the likes of the Nevilles, Scholes, Giggs, Beckham and Butt in 92 made the step up from youth to united's first team and propelled them into a premier winning team for years on end. Anything's possible. CraigHuytonBlue

Hes one of best natural goal scores we have produced for years, haha, poeple inside everton seem to rate macleny as twice the player thank god your not a scout mate

Why have we never bid for Scot Brown? He is a quality player {Ed025's Note - maybe in scotland pob..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hes played in england he was crap end of

Agree0 Disagree0

No he isn't, looks good in scot prem but wouldn't cut it in the prem

Agree0 Disagree0

When did he play in England? {Ed025's Note - he did,nt..

Agree0 Disagree0

He has never played in England and he would get sent off constantly in England, he kicks out at folk when they skin him.

What do we think of Scott Parker? Looks like he may even drop down a league and go to QPR! Got Gibson who I rate but Parker could provide some decent drive through the middle.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pretty sure he has signed for qpr

looking across the free transfer list, I understand that wages would still have to be paid on these players, but they surely can't be fussy about how much they ask for. would anybody take the likes of David Bentley as a replacement for darron Gibson while he is out injured, a player that has always been on the fringes of good, but never quite made it. surely between him and gibbo they could carve out a season. he would also offer versitility being able to play out wide on the right if needed. CraigHuytonBlue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How is Bentley a replacement for Gibson wrong position my friend even if he played same position he is rubbish and been off the radar for seasons he will do a job for someone but not in prem and certainly not for us

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you serious? Bently is a right winger. Good crosser of the ball but I don't think he has ever played central mid.
Degsypulford

Agree0 Disagree0

Two totally different style of players that play in different positions, ed people don't half come out with some *#!te sometime

Agree0 Disagree0

Only thing bentley has ever done in his career is that goal against arsenal for spurs

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah, he was good for Blackburn a while back and was stupid to sign for spurs, because that automatically killed your career back then as they signed 40 players at a time. He is a winger, but he's a slow winger who likes to cross, or look inside and pass rather than get down the line and beat a man. These players often convert to CM and do well, I.e. Arteta, Schweinsteiger even Beckham. He's not in the same league as them, but I wouldn't be too bothered if he came as back up.

Agree0 Disagree0

David Bentley is washed up and if he signed for us he'd be dreaming, someone would have to wake him up and let him know he really plays for Colchester. We have better players in our squad now than David Bentley (the one season wonder), poor player who wouldn't cut it in the centre of midfield, fact!

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2013 15:50:13
lets get real here ed we have signed squad players which is good because we have never had it before but that's all they are the lad from Barcelona might be the exception but I look around Cardiff, Norwich, west ham and Southampton have all spent 20m plus on good players we all no we need a cm and cb for the 1st team not as a squad player but I just can't see it coming we are going backwards your man on the inside must be bk.gibbo {Ed025's Note - have faith gibbo, you may be pleasantly surprised mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ask yourself this out of the clubs you mentioned who have they bought who would get in our first 11 none of them they would be squad players its not how much you spend it's what improves you as a team and for those clubs they will improve caulker is fantastic player but don't tell me he is better than jags or distin

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2013 16:32:53
also the likes of cardiff, norwich and west ham had a worse squad than us before their additions, does our starting point of being a top 4 team count for nothing? CraigHuytonBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

The teams you mentioned mate have to spend a lot of money to attract players because the position of the team is not enough to temp quality players.
The same applies to us compared to the top 5 but we are not as bad as those lower down the league.

Just a couple of questions for Ed025
1. Ed, we all know you are a massive fan of Honda, but are there any other players that we have been linked with that you feel that would have really improved the team/squad

2. How different do you think this transfer window dealings would have been under moyesy?

EVERTONPAUL {Ed025's Note - i like Mcarthy paul, but the asking fee is ridiculous, i know i am in the minority, but i also rate anderson of utd. moyes would have been in the same boat for me mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes would not have got deulofeu robles kone its not, even worth considering as he was already left months ago. tom efc

Im getting sick of everyone slating us before the season even starts. We finished 6th last year and have not sold any players who got us there so that clearly indicates to me we won't be in a relegation battle like some of you pessimists claim!

Stop moaning about playing a high line against Madrid, it seems you don't understand the point of playing a high line (to try and smother the midfield build-up of the opposition, hence limiting their attacking play), it didn't work because Ronaldo is so awesome he can always find a way to goal no matter what is happening around him. Madrid hammered Chelsea so are they also in a relegation battle?

As for spending money, perhaps Martinez is happy with the current squad and doesn't want to spend unnecessarily, or maybe he anticipates bids coming in and is keeping money back to go for targeted replacements if/when that happens. Everton are renowned for seeming like were not conducting business until the deal is practically done because we keep it quiet in-house, maybe that is happening again. Either way, its pretty certain we have money available if we want to spend it so please stop moaning about there being none.

I'm sorry to rant but just cannot believe how many so called fans are just criticising us and predicting relegation, you don't sound like true blues to me!

Mark

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Any Everton fan that lives in the real world knows we won't be relegated just that person James said we will finish 16th.

Have to agree with you Mark some fans have no idea and are so impatient, part of a generation that want immediate results. I am happy with the way things are progressing after all, Moyes left without any notice took are coaches/scouts etc. It takes a bit of time to adapt to a new manager, coaching staff, new ideas and formation. I think the team has shown a lot of positives in style, performance re-energising of Jealavic, promising display by youngsters, opportunities for Barkley, Oviedo and improving Naismith etc I am very optimistic and think we will improve in time. Vital to keep Felli and Baines and perhaps buy one more midfielder.
wellzee {Ed025's Note - good post that mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with you both Mark and Wellzee.

Bobbie knows what he is doing and he is going to give the kids a chance to develop in the first team, everyone is crying out for a CB at the moment, why? Johnny H seems like he is happy enough and staying, John Stones is going to get to play a part and develop faster than he would out on loan. The Jellyman is back on form, most of the lads actually look like they are enjoying playing.

I'm sure if he wants a specific player we will bid for him. If not then he is happy with what he has to work with. Keep the faith, get behind Robbie and the team and see where we end up instead of putting a downer on everything IMO this season could be a very good one for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

The waiting is down to the tv money being in instalments and we don't get the first payment until this month. We'll see some action later in the window only if Bob can get the player(s) he wants at the right prices. As has been alluded to on several occasions, it's pointless spending for the sake of it. We need the right players for EFC on our terms.

Agree0 Disagree0

Majority of them said RM. made Wigan relegate so he will do it again here. Crazy logic mean Man United pick wrong one they will finish 6th.

Agree0 Disagree0

And united won't win silverware for 11 years but they just won the community shield

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Aug 2013 10:07:05
There are some decently priced players out there, so surely we will be able to get a couple quality players in without selling. Alderwield(i know its wrong) Marrone and Xavi Torres, we could get for around 15m with Heitinga going the other way(without agent fees ect.) In my eyes their 3 quality players for 15m. As much as I would like McCarthy to join us we could do 2-3 transfers with the amount of money required to buy him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didn't xavi Torres only join betis this summer
