kopite mate of mine who said agger and alba are better than jags and baines has given me a new one to laugh at we were talking about what the team would be if we mixed both sides and he said this
mignolet
johnson illori agger baines
gerrard lucas
henderson coutinho suarez
sturridge
i got
howard
coleman jagielka distin baines
gerrard gibson
mirallas coutinho suarez
sturridge
he said henderson should now be a regular for england after his 3 games for them this season and mignolet looks like he could turn out to be the best keeper liverpool have ever had and he said johnson is the best right back in the league and was last year.
1.really? 3 games and he is top drawer all of a sudden
2.mignolet is a decent keeper don't get me wrong but he has hardly had anything to do this year apart from penalty against stoke
3.most liverpool fans hate johnson and think kelly or wisdom should start and that johnson is poor at defending
ed I know it shows teams but post it on the banter please so people can reply and give me their thoughts and opinions

In fairness Jordi Alba is probably the only left back I would pick ahead of Baines.

I'd have Baines ahead of Alba, though I might be a tad biased. Alba is woeful defensively and Baines is just as good, if not better, going forward. Creates more and scores more.
As for combining both teams I'd have their No 7 and Coutinho, and maybe Sturridge ahead of Kone and Jelavic, but not Lukaku.

neither alba or baines is good at defending but I think baines is a tad better there because how often does a winger really rip him apart don't think I've seen it but alba his fault for all 4 of bayerns goals and he got ripped into by lucas moura and robben and I think baines is better at everyhing except alba is faster, baines all day for me

I think we should all give baines a standing ovation tomorrow the way he went about all the transfer spec was great a true blue in my eyes could of gone for the money but he stayed also would be nice to get our 1st 3 points against Chelsea let's scare the life out of them from the stands come on you blues.gibbo

He would've been off like a shot if the right deal was offered, so forget all the standing ovation lark, he gets enough money as it is and that's all he's interested in.

Deserves a good ovation, but I'm like u needs to sign a new deal to convince me completely .but never pushed or disrespected everton so let's give him the benefit of the doubt .i feel he will sign a new deal, utd were after him all summer not just last minute, if he really wanted to move feel it would ve happened
Agree0

Yes most players will go if the right deal was offered to them. Problem we have Gollum will be back in January, see how Baines or Everton react then. I would feel a bit better if a deal was struck - extended contract for Bainsey. He will also be looking to get Barkley, is it ever going to end. Please get money into our club, we are always left behind.

If we were offered more money and chance of winning trophies we would go. Sad but this is the state of football, the haves and havenots. It will be a long time before we catch up if ever.

Barkley is a big strong strapping lad. He holds the ball well and is quick off the mark. He has a great shot and considering his age, positions himself fairly well. I would like to see him in the centre forwards position for a game or two to see how he gets on. The league cup game would have been a good one to try him out. I hope Martinez tries him in training to see.

He plays behind the striker, he's never a striker, .play him in the hole were he can assist as well as score goals .

Why is he never a striker? Unless you try things differently, you never learn anything. He fits all the criteria. I would certainly like to try him there.

Why would you play a midfielder with so much potential that has never played as a striker and play him there? Distyn is a big strapping lad and quick off the mark should we play him up top aswell? Weird one degsy
Albo

Would u play zidane, gerrard, Wiltshire, up front .barkley is an attacking midfielder .would be totally wasted up front, play him were he can hurt u .bad shout to play him up front

henry started as a winger for Monaco wenger bought him and stuck him up front.

Adrian Heath was a midfielder too. Would have been a waste of time trying such a titchy little midfielder up front. He would get nowhere.
Read the history books if you are too young to see what I mean.

Liverpool fan coming in peace.
I write regular player reviews over on the Liverpool site, and my most recent included a player of your own, James McCarthy. I'd greatly appreciate if you guys came and had a read.
The blog can be found on the 'LFC blogs and Voting polls' section, which is linked down the left hand side. It is the very top blog (number 12) as of September the 13th.
I hope some of you come and leave some feedback, and hope you find the review fair and accurate.
Kind regards,
YNWAdam

Decent review, was quite focused on his goal and assist ratios though and tbh the type of player he is he's there to break up play so these figures are kind of irrelevant. However, unless you watched him play week in week out stats are all you can really go by so a fair review from that respect.
I liked your comment about everton being a good team but not really challenging for anything, but like liverpool then ;-)

You seem to know your stuff Adam. Not sure you are right about Jack of all trades though. Each team seems to have a roaming midfielder in my view. Then a holding player too. Good players are good players. As they age, they change their posision or style of play to allow for tired legs. Bellamy is a good example as was Gordon Strachan.
