I cannot wait for the season to start! Every time I hear Martinez speak about our club the more I became attached to that man. He is going to bring success to our club! The passion he has for football and now Everton is amazing. So let's stop all this doom and gloom and get behind our team and Martinez!

Exciting times ahead :)

I didn't want him at all BUT I've got to admit he's converted me to a believe.

No games played yet but he does have a huge amount of enthusiasm for the role and the club.

I loved Moyes but when listening to him talk in his press conferences now for Manchester United he sounds so miserable and dour.

I know who I would give more for and enjoy playing for if it went down to just personality. Just got to match it with motivation and tactical awareness.

Agree0 Disagree0

He certainly is very good at the PA stuff. As a manager?. let you know.

Hi lads I was thinking now we have del, Kone and Alcaraz what do you all think are starting lineup will look like? And also the prospect of Barkley, Vellios ect finding form and breaking into the first 11 we will finally have a squad capable of challenging for a Europa league spot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We were challenging for a Champions league spot last season and I definitely believe the same will happen next season as well.

From what Jags has said we will be playing 3 at the back and Jags will be put in the middle of that with Distin LCB and Alcaraz RCB. The usual Coleman and Baines L/B wing backs.

The Centre of the park is going to be the interesting ones. He will go for experience for early in the season as he will want a good strong start to the season so Fellaini, Gibson centre interchanging as the link man with Peinaar and Mirallas on the wings and Kone up front.

Maybe later in the game move Alcaraz to the CB position so he can move forward to the DCM position when we have the ball and removing either Fellaini or Gibson and replacing with either Deulofeu/Osman/Barkley to give a more attacking threat.

Guess we'll have some indication today though. COYB

Is rather sell Hetinga and get Lescott and use Alcatraz as back up

Hope you are all right about Diame, very generous odds of 5/1 still available that he will sign for Everton before 3rd September with . It will be a double bonus, we get a very good player and earn some money to, good times ahead! Honda next, fingers crossed

Hi ed, if the diame rumours are true do you think jelly will be in the deal or just cash? Also do you think he would be a good signing for us? {Ed025's Note - i think he would be a great signing ben, but think jelly will be given another year mate..

Why would we do a Jelavic plus cash deal for Diame, when he has a 3.5mil release clause? Surely even after last season Jelavic is still worth more than around 2mil?! Makes no sense imo, anyone disagree? {Ed007's Note - Yes me, but not in the way you think :-)

Taraabt available for loan. Has quality but also has an attitude. Could be worth a gamble. Thoughts ed? {Ed007's Note - Keep well clear of him, his attitude is abysmal and he needs a good kick in the haw-maws. At one point at QPR you were fined if you passed to him in your own half during a match, that is 100% true.}

fer has signed for Norwich 4year deal we missed a trick with him very good player and Norwich in 12 months will make a tidy profit on him trust me but us blues are happy with the 3 wigan players (joke) and the kid from Barcelona moving in the wrong direction if you ask me Norwich must of spent close to 20m now what have spent 6-7m and not much more to come what you think of that ed. gibbo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree with you mate
While I think our squad has improved by the signings we have made so far the time has come to invest in at least 2 or 3 players that will improve the first 11 or we will struggle to break into Europe
The 2 Wigan lads are good solid players but nothing special. The keeper will hopefully push Howard for a starting place.
Then there is the young lad from Barca even if he is a world beater what's the point we can never sign him so how do you build a team around him? I only ever thought small clubs loaned players they could never sign not Everton!
The chances are we will loose felli (unless no one wants him) on deadline day we can't stop it if his buy out clause is triggered
So we at least need a replacement in for him before all the top one are gone
I for one would love Honda but I think we need a top holding mid to cover Gibo's injury's

S1878

Agree0 Disagree0

They may have spent 20mil but they are still miles behind us.

As for Fer, I suspect they've taken a big risk. For the price to drop by almost half since January would worry me and not worth taking the risk.

There are better out there with less risk and at a similar price.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've seen fer never rarely rated him, I'm sure if he's was a top prospect bigger clubs would have bid for him. I think the prem will be to fast for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Failed medical from a team that can't take chances maybe Norwich not so thorough can't believe anyone thought it changed that much over a season?

Agree0 Disagree0

Would it hurt to have a bit of positivety? We've signed 4 players in 13 days (since the window started) and some people still aren't happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

We already had and still have with the new boys a better squad and manager than norwich.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you ever thought that maybe martinez didn't want him?lets face it, if he did want him, fer would have came to us

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini's release clause is reported to expire around 15th August, so we have some protection against selling him last minute. Of course he could still go after this for a higher fee, or indeed a lower fee, but if someone is desperate for his signature they're not going to pay over the odds after the date.
He does want a move to Arsenal but wants around £100k pw, expect either him or BK will reach a compromise by mid August if Arsenal have signed a striker by then.

Agree0 Disagree0

Only nowrich seemed interested and moyes with his backing didn't think he was good enough for the mancs, says it all to me, clearly nothing special

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2013 18:16:46
I decided to buy the big issue today and it actually has a quality football section! There was an interview with Moyesy where he kept talking about how great Tim Howard is and how there is no one like him at Man U. So perhaps instead of Felli he wants Howard?

A few of the gloryhunting mancs already saying Moyes out. Anyone see him being there at the start of next season? (2014/2015)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He'll surely get two seasons to win a trophy, but I expect that he'll be under pressure if it goes into a third season. With the players they have and can attract, I cannot imagine anything but a trophy win by then. The only caveat is if they amazingly don't qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Whatever happens, why should we Evertonians care?

Come on troops, help these folk out with some advice.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I had a stadium tour around your boys ages years ago, still the best birthday present I ever had!

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends on how long you have for the day.

If you've got a few hours you should take him to the museum at the Pier Head. It has a load of Everton Memorabilia and history about our great club.

You can then grab a bite to eat in Liverpool One on the top floor which has food from around the world and just next to Liverpool One is the Liverpool One bus station where you can get the 26 Bus to Goodison Park.

Plenty to do and see around waterfront and Liverpool One which also has our shop Everton Two before taking him to the picturesque scenery of County Road.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately, they don't do the tours on match days. It's a shame because as the other poster has said it's a brilliant experience and you never forget it.

Why not go to St John's Beacon (The Big Radio City tower) 400 foot high and you can see the Wirral, North Wales (including Snowdonia occasionally) and as far away as the Lake District and Blackpool Tower on clearer days. It costs £5 for adults and £3 for kids and can book it online. Just search for St John's Beacon.

You must also go to Prince Rupert's Tower (the hut on the badge) on Everton Brow and get a few pictures which will impress even supports of other teams. If you jump a Taxi from Liverpool city centre it will cost you about £4. 50 to get to and is on the way to Goodison as well. Also the view of the Mersey from there is awesome.

We have strength in depth for next season:

Howard / Joel

Coleman / Hibbert / Stones
Jagielka / Duffy
Distin / Alcaraz / Heitinga
Baines / Oviedo

Fellaini
Gibson
Osman / Barkley

Mirallas / Naismith
Kone / Jelavic / Vellios / Anichebe
Delofeu / Pienaar

Think we just need an AM, ie Honda to have a full squad.

Pecko

I'm looking at the Baines situation and wondering if it isn't time to cash in on him.

2 years left on his contract, 29 in December and it's not as if we are going to be flush with money over the next couple of years. It could be a good time to cash in now and look to reinvest in some youth.

I love him to bits and he is the best left back in the world in my opinion but we cannot add the same quality to the team due to money but we could improve the quality of more than one position if we got good enough cash from him.

I do hope we can get another year out of Fellani as he offers more than one position on the pitch. Plus the Defensive Mid position will be important in Martinez's plans and Johnny is not good enough and Gibson is injury prone.

If Martinez can find a good replacement though I wouldn't be bothered if he went as well as again it's big money that can really make a difference to the club.

It'd be great to keep them both don't get me wrong but I don't think we can afford to lose the money they would bring.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My head says, from a strictly financial POV, it makes sense to cash in on a 29yr old, especially when he is at peak value.

However, to me, I just don't want Baines to leave. It is near on impossible to find a like for like for Baines. Awfully hard to replace a LB that led the 5 major European leagues in chances created. Not to mention, he is a local lad and seems to love being at Everton.

I want this lad to retire as a blue, but I certainly won't begrudge him if he wanted a shot at United (although I think he will stay)

Fulham agree sale to the Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan.

Deal with US tycoon worth around £200m

Khan is the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars American Football franchise, which he purchased in 2011, having made his estimated £1. 7bn fortune in the manufacture of car parts.

Are we BK Toy which he does not want to let go off

Not being negative and the grass is not always greener on the other side about.

I do prefer the view manager your finances ish ish.

this but gets you thinking.

No buyers out there.

A team which has been consistent over the past few years - who would you want to buy and improve and aim to aim something. seen this with other clubs in recent years.

Got to be the ground issue

COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The new owner fancied Fulham for the basic fact that they are a London based club.

I would imagine that he would try to incorporate the Jaguars and Fulham together, in some sort of marketing scheme, to create more money and exposure for both the sides

Agree0 Disagree0

Y do fans always use that, it's because there a London club, load of nonsense, why because Fulham are gone win what, qpr are gona win what. its because they got them at the right price. these people don't buy clubs so they can live in London, they already have gaffs there. they fly in watch game and fly out. everton can't sell club because kenwright has is hands tied by earl and green waiting for large return on investment. Everton should have been sold, the ground and location means nothing. these people have private jets, yachts do u think there bothered about two hours journey

Rooney is a has been what a load of rubbish if he stays at utd for another couple of seasons he will be top goalscorer for club putting himself in the same light as law charlton and best not bad I would say plus what you have to remember is Manchester United are not half the side without him everyone thinks he had a bad season stats tell differently yes he did not score as many as previous seasons but assists are up and more than any season he has been there I would take him imagine we did buy him and kept our 2 main stars we would have to be serious contenders for title and I believe he would have that effect as much as van Persie did he is that good

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jul 2013 10:03:25
Please do me a favour all this Fulham being sold so what it's not like they have suddenly become man city stinking rich in terms of money the old and new owner are about the same in terms of wealth both have just over a billion but don't think this guy will need to splash serious cash to take Fulham to next level I mean probably more than what we need

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I know right! So much chat about fulham. Outsider looking in would think we are a jealous bunch. Who cares about them. Lots of obvious reasons why an investor has decided to take the plunge with them. If anything it means we might be able to sell them another Andy Johnson in the near future.

Hank

Agree0 Disagree0

Fulham's new owner said his main priority is to keep them in the premier league for many years to come. Now he never mentioned anything about europe or winning trophies so far anyway maybe that will change who knows. At the moment we have an owner who ok let may say is not rich and we don't sign two to three 20 mill players every year but what he does do is finance the manager with funds to bring quality players not expensive but good players enough to keep us moving in the right direction and let's be honest last summer we were happy with our signings this summer were happy with our signings so who needs that type of buyer. Yes if someone came along like chelsea and City owners I would be delighted but this chap won't deliver champions league glory to fulham Mike ashley of Newcastle is richer than him and look at them this man is brought in to keep Fulham in the Prem we are well past that we are challeging for europe every year so yes I do agree he would of being no good to us now as I said things could change but honestly Fulham won't break into the top 4 anytime soon I guarantee it.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2013 10:03:09
My predictions for the rest of our summer. Baines to sign a new contract with us, I expect two more decent signings, Fellaini I expect to go but the money from sale will go back into the squad, if by some chance he stays I still expect two more signings, when the start of the season comes I expect the squad to be fully refreshed and ready to go and to to have us on the edge of our seats with a new brand of attacking football. I was looking at the pictures of the lads in training with Martinez and they seem really happy and the team spirit that they always had looks to be firmly intact so it looks like we have a lot of positive things to look forward to this season can't wait.

Fulham were sold as Alfayed walked away. As from the AGM BK and the board who stated they have no money to invest into the club but their 'Time'.
Well he actually wants to sell the club but still be in charge. When the club is sold he and the rest of the tight wad board will triplicate their initial investment some will get a healthy sum with out putting in any funds.
When the club changes hands Bill still wants to be the chairman who in there right mind will ever agree to that proposal sheer madness!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give it a rest, it's becoming boring

Agree0 Disagree0

Not boring. Just true.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Bill really did have club/fans interest at heart he would do some kind of share issue to season ticket holders/members etc

Value the club at 150m and do a share issue to sell club for 100 million - so all subscribing fans get a 33 per cent discount but bill and mates get three times back what they paid - then the shares can be bought and sold by fans and were not held back by bill not putting any money at all into the club

Agree0 Disagree0

When and where has anyone heard that Bill won't sell unless he is chairman? From the bloke at the bar in the pub? My girls dad's best friends parrot? Everyone makes these silly assumptions that it's because he won't let go of the club.

To be honest we don't need a billionaire or anyone else. We need a new stadium, it really is the be all and end all. Just like what Arsenal have done, who are now self sustained and able to spend 75mil this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Martin Efc should change your name to bkfc. kenwright constant drivel and enpt leadership should be brought to task, this city is not kiddered by cheap talk. if u wanna listen to it more fool u. fulham now bought, Sunderland bought. west ham bought. saved by moyes not by bill. keep Baines there's a start, sell him and another example of a man who goes back on recent interviews

Agree0 Disagree0

The man who bought Fulham is a total loser. He also owns the Jacksonville jaguars in the NFL and they are a mess. Year in year out they are one of the worst run teams in the league. He puts no investment into his teams, owning a club is just a hobby for this guy. Honestly I feel bad for Fulham because he is going to run them into the ground

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jul 2013 12:17:33
No just boring.

Sussex Blue

Agree0 Disagree0

Why should BK be brought to task? because he hasn't found a Russian / Middle eastern billionaire to plough all there riches into the club. Have you ever thought that there may be reason for that other than 'he doesn't want to let go, or he wants to much to line his own pocket'. Sorry pal (you never left your name) to me that argument is boring. Until the right buyer is found I'm happy for BK to be at the helm, we are a top six premier league club for god sake! as for Sunderland and West Ham they yo-yo in out of the premier league and fight relegation and Fulham are mid table team at best. Do you think new ownership will turn any of them into a top six team?

I'd rather be in our position than any of the team you have mentioned.

Agree0 Disagree0

We all get the London element, nevertheless, this guy has sold a much smaller club, with a much smaller fan base, with a ground in need of rebuilding more than ours. He has done in weeks what bill has failed to do in five years, find a new owner, willing and able to invest in the club, sorry bill lover, but all they above is a fact. {Ed001's Note - sorry but that is simply not true at all. Al Fayed put Fulham up for sale when plans for the ground were rejected back when Tigana was in charge. The club has been up for sale ever since, and has only now been sold just after a new ground extension plan was approved and planning permission was granted just last year. So, even though the club has been up for sale for a long time, a sale only went through after a ground expansion plan was confirmed and planning permission granted. I just checked the dates, it was 10 years since he initially decided he wanted to sell! Hardly done in weeks if you actually look into what has happened there.}

Agree0 Disagree0

To the one who's having a go at Martin-EFC, let me get this straight.

You want someone that's like who bought Sunderland and West Ham.

Hmm. Both clubs have been relegated after being sold and since BK has been chairman of Everton - not a good start. Both have had countless useless managers and play some of the worst football I've seen in the premier league - OK not selling it to me either. Both have spent huge amounts of money unwisely wasting numerous millions of pounds on absolute rubbish - Yep definitely not for me.

On the other hand BK HIRED a manager in David Moyes - Pretty good judgement there.

Put the clubs money to use by buying Fellani, Baines, Jags, Cahill and plenty more. Also sticking with him through think and thin - Backing his manager, not bad.

Conducted the club in such a way that we are held as an example on how a proper club is run and show nothing but class in every area, which unfortunately some of our own supporters don't appreciate it.

It's not about backing BK it's about backing the club. Which I and most Evertonians do.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed001 for putting the unnamed poster straight on the sale of Fulham.

Its amazing that some people actually believe that a £200 million deal can be done in a week, and he called me the fool! {Ed001's Note - to be fair, Sly did lead people to believe that is what happened, both here and in the Man City takeover. They fail to mention that Robinho was actually a good faith payment and that the actual final takeover didn't complete until October or November of that year in the end.}

Does anyone really think Honda is the man for us because I don't we should invest in players proven in the prem

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Without doubt has the ability to start for Everton. Absolute quality and would fit in nicely as I think we are in dire need for a creative attacking mid, and Honda is that man. Sadly, looks like he is off to Milan.

I am the opposite, would rather stay away from buying in this league because this league is so inflated, plenty of bargains to be had abroad. I mean Tom Ince going for 8-9mil, and we got Mirallas for 5mil!

Does anyone know how long it took
Al fayad to sell Fulham maybe he could borrow bill his phonebook

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I guess its because kenwright still wants some kind of figure head role if you sell the club that's the end of things but he still wants a say in matters and that's the stumbling block to all interested parties and obviously there have been a few recently

Agree0 Disagree0

Fulham have probably been bought for much the same reason Chelsea were, their ground sits on some of the most expensive realestate in Europe. The area stinks of cash. Unfortunately we are based on County Rd, which just stinks. Sad but true. (Wavertree Blue)

Agree0 Disagree0

Wavertree is spot on. can't compare the situations. West London is West London, the richest people in the world live there, its very attractive for potential big signings and sponsorship deals. and to own a football club in that area, and one challenging in the premier league, is a much better investment than the same thing up in Liverpool, sadly. If only we had a billionaire on our board. oh wait a minute

Agree0 Disagree0

Fulham has been bought because its in London. Look at Monaco, would a billionaire buy a second tier club with a 4000 average attendance rate if it wasn't in Monaco? Don't think so!

TC

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we should relocate to London? Then again, I don't think I could stand being surrounded by all them Kopites. (Wavertree Blue)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree entirely. The new super rich clubs have been bought because of their location and not their history.

Man U will find it tougher to get the cream of the talent now because of this.

Where would you want to practice your football, Paris, London, Monaco, Madrid, Barcelona, Munich OR the north west of England
