The big bonus from tonights game he can't pick Mcgeady next Monday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - yahoooooo..

Hopefully he'll get done for violent conduct or something and be banned for at least 3!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 23:33:37
We started with 10 men and finished with 10, this for me was a very good performance, not down to RM but the players played with some pride at last, team selection and substitutions leave me wondering what's he doing, I know nothing like every other supporter but we can all see where were going wrong why oh why can't he, at least he's stopped the ticky tacky stuff, under pressure from the players. and now were playing it quicker far better, Robles excellent most impressed, just sorry he missed the pen. But RM has to give his selections and substitutions a bit more thought in future or we could go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you all the way kirbo..

13 Jan 2015 23:22:00
ive already mentioned it but I want to say it again, well done to joel, gives his all and shows passion and I hope these few games have raised his confidence, he did well tonight and i'm proud of him for it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - yes mate...credit where its due..

Agreed Swan. He was top class tonight. Read my other post mate. I do wonder how long I have to go on about how ineffective McGeady is and how badly we need Osman back. I know it winds you up mate, but please believe me that the only reason I go on about Ossie is that I firmly believe I am right that he brings the balance to the team. that's both in width and defensively. McGeady can't score, can't pass and can't bloody tackle. At least Ossie does all 3. He may be not as strong when the ball is played to him when facing his own goal, but overall he is 10 times better in my view. And how can RM leave Mirallas on the bench and pick McGeady?? Barkley is woefully lacking confidence and needs a rest. etc etc

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 23:19:15
Everyone is praising the performance, but if we went put to west ham last year, everyone would be complaining! It just shows how far we have slipped, any top 6 clubs fans would be angry at going out to west ham, I guess we have fallen so far that, it is now a success. What if we were to win an away game, would our away supporters invade the pitch? Is that how far we have friging fallen?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - to be fair Tmh the west ham of this season is far superior to that of last season, yes we have slipped mate, but i wont berate the guys for a performance like tonight..

Behave TMH we were fantastic with 10 men .

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jan 2015 19:41:44
Oh yeah forgot West Ham are a better team than us now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - their league position says they are Tmh..

13 Jan 2015 23:06:45
Very proud of everton tonight, that's what we have wanted all season - passion and fight.
A MASSIVE bonus no Mcgeady for 1 game, the bloke has to be the worst everton player I have ever seen.
Pleased also for robles. The other players seem to love him so I really hope he grows into our number 1 keeper.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - welcome to my club pauly.. :)

13 Jan 2015 22:57:41
Did we play as EFC should and can after Brian came on and Kevin was in place? Cruel that we were down and came back to lead with 10 men and then only to go out on the odd penalty in 17. I sent an earlier knee jerk reaction but following the text of what went on before was murder. Do any of you guys see that platform RM talks about and seeing us go safe in the EPL? COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im very hopeful of staying up with performances like that TT, but it could have been and should have been so much better mate..

13 Jan 2015 22:54:02
. well 1 things for certain. we don't need a new goalkeeper, in fact I'd stick with Robles in goal now & relegate Howard to the bench when he comes back as he'll probably be off to the MLS at the end of the season anyway & he's made so many mistakes this season! As for the performance - again it was better, still think we need to improve in the final third & cut out the defensive errors & become a bit more cutting edge. as for McGeady, he needs to either go back to Eastern Russia or join the lower leagues somewhere - he simply isn't good enough for Everton Fc & ultimately cost us our cup place tonight! We did show a lot of character tonight though, I just hope we can start winning games consistently now!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you there zacki...taxi for mcgeady!..

We should always start with your strongest team, tonight we didnt

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats right....but i refuse to use your name mate.. :)

Fully agree, Zack. Joel has taken a lot of flak, but he's sure to win a few people over supporters after that display. Felt gutted for him taking and missing a penalty, but if McGeady hadn't had his flabby backside sent off, then maybe Joel might not have had to take one at that stage. I'm sure Aiden would have spooned that up too though. Felt sorry for Naisy, too. I know distraction from a keeper is part of the game, but I hate seeing it as it's a bit unsportsmanlike. However, I have To say, I have had it with Barkley's unspectacular performances this season. I know he's young and yadda yadda yadda potential yadda yadda leg break yadda yadda, but at the moment, he's cowardly running into a challenge. He pulled out of most of his one on ones with opposition players tonight, while Naisy was right next to him, bundling face first into the opponents for the whole game. Naisy might not be the most skilful player, his tenacity means he can win challenges that aren't necessarily in his favour.Barkley needs to grow a pair. And soon, or get sent to warm Man City's bench. Or just their post match M&S microwave meals. Joking aside, I don't know if I want to see Ross leave, he's a true blue after all, but I remember having similar snarls at the game when Jack Rodwell minced his way through games.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your talking to one of the converted mate..

.yeah.Ross has been very disappointing of late. but to be honest I'm not really surprised. for me Shrek Woz the only true world class player to come out of the youth academy.& @ 21 years of age it's about time Barkley stepped it up. but maybe he can't, just maybe he isn't actually that great, just maybe we should take the 60 million of Citteh in the summer & run all the way to the bank laughing uncontrollably every inch of the way!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 22:53:40
proud to be blue tonight well done boys. Mirallas was unbelievable but why is he on the bench ffs! he's arguably r best player and mcgeedy is probably r worst! And I can't belive i'm saying this but we might have the goalkeeper we've all been asking for! Joel looked world class tonight! keep playing like this and we ill climb the league and have a good crack at the europa cup. Up the toffees!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - because the manager is a tosser kingy..

Ha i'm not one to slate but its hard to argue on that point

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 22:48:52
Right I posted about Barkley earlier singing his praises, all change! Crap tonight sell him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he was not great lancer, but you cant change your mind after that one game mate..

I know mate he winds me up needs to take a leaf outa kevo's book.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he frustrates the hell out of me as well lancer..

Ed also I'm expecting a big bid for super kev soon after tonight's performance simply brilliant!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that would not surprise me lancer...and the worst thing is..i believe he would jump at the chance.. :(

My bets on the Gooners.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you could be right lancer...but not in this window mate..

13 Jan 2015 22:47:19
Keeping kev on the bench for 70 minutes and then he tares them to pieces, sackable offence right there. Get rid this guy is a con artist. When we lose at home on Monday night you will all agree. Don't be jaded by the super kev cameo to get us in the game we were gash prior. Do one and your we were amazing tonight garbage. Bye bye you waste of space

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - bit harsh that svenny, i thought we played well although the picking of mcgeady and taking off besic were both very poor decisions by the fraud..

I thought we were poor until we had ten men but the fact the we rolled r sleeves up and controlled most of the rest of the game shows were still fighting mate and I didn't knowif that was the case a few games ago so ill sleep easier tonight

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard that Kev had a slight ankle injury so couldn't play the full 90

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats true bloo...but why not play a 10yr old kid instead of mcgeady?..its getting embarrassing mate..

I will take you posted that while you were on the sauce Svenny, we are showing some fight at last, as for West brom I think we will wipe the floor with them Coyb.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 22:43:56
We'd be good if we had a manager who could organise a team instead of picking 11 players putting them on the pitch and hoping for the best

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 22:43:52
amazing performance with 10 men, feel really gutted but so proud of the performance, so proud to be a blue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - me too rob..

This is what its come to. Being in the elite top 7 of the league to being proud of drawing away at a team who finishes bottom half every year. We are 3 points above the drop zone. Wake up. What happens if we lose on monday night?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - at least there was fight and spirit out there svenny!, which has been lacking most of the season, im still questioning the manager mate, but its certainly an improvement on the dross we have been served so far..

Wake up!! erm i'm just as big as fan as you and if you don't think that was a proud performance away to a very good west ham team with us only having 10 men then I believe you were watching a different game. yes we have been poor all season but I think were starting to turn the corner. you can either cry about what has already been (we can't change that) or get behind the team, we need all the positive support we can get

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - well said rob..

13 Jan 2015 22:43:22
Well you know what, today has got to be the turning point of our season. There is no way based on our performance that we deserved to go home but that's how these things go sometimes. I thought we played with heart and character until the end and this will fuel the rest of our season. At the end of the day we still have europa to play for, and as much as a loss like this stings, I can only see a brighter future ahead for us. Onwards and upwards mates COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - spot on lee..

13 Jan 2015 22:41:56
Joel, it was going so well!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Joel can hold his head up high imo. Top class tonight.not his fault he missed the penalty.his job is to save em not score em.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree dentie..

13 Jan 2015 22:38:43
Not joels fault, he was really gutted when he missed, ref was a twonk again, no consistency, allows adrian to taunt players but not joel. Mcgeadys fault, getting sent off an just being the stupid fat annoying crap waste of space he is. He let us down big time, going to be fair and say joel was amazing tonight and I hope he continues this good run of games. I really really hate aiden mcgeady, i'm not one for giving personal stick to players but I hope he reads this, leave this club immediatly

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hate is too strong a word swan...the rest i agree with mate..

Yep, he's not good enough to wear the shirt.Took Besic off which was strange! Should have been Barry.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im in your camp lemur..

Can't stant watching him play, he is a disgrace to the club tonight getting sent off like that

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - totally agree clarkey..

13 Jan 2015 22:38:57
Very proud of our boys thought they gave everything they had tonight, if we play like that every game things will start to look up, don't get me wrong still a bit disapointed but 3 points at home on Monday will make me a happy chappie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - thats right CI..

13 Jan 2015 22:37:37
Gutted, shattered, proud to be a Blue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they done well tedster...just 2 questions...why start with mcgeady who is a liability...and why hook besic instead of barry?..

13 Jan 2015 21:41:03
Not wanting to tempt fate her with extra time still to come, but credit where it's due, I think Robes has had a blinder so far tonight! Long may it continue hopefully.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's no penalty taker though!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Im sure it went in

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 21:40:48
Ross Barkley was so bad it's unreal no influence what so ever cash in, Barnes has been poor but. Robles is outstanding tonight long may it continue!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree Ant. He's driven me mental tonight. Every time you see him, he's just strolling about, barely breaks into a jog and no input into the game at all! Perhaps he believes too much in his own hype!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 21:32:54
May upset some on here, but robles was very very good tonight.getting better game after game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Have to agree he has played a blinder.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right wedge..

13 Jan 2015 21:30:58
Super Kev makes it 1-1
Oxford United all over again?
ho' for Howie back as manager!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 21:28:24
Stats say it all. I shot on target in 76 mins. Down to 10. Besic off, Mirellas on and now booked. We are fouling at a horrible rate. Strategy shot to pieces. RM its a hell of a mess. Christ sake, if I hear of another platform the squad can leap up from, I must insist that is a platform the squad are leaping off from. Worst of all, that West Ham United manager already looking like the cat got the milk. Ugly.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 21:16:58
That should be McGeadys last ever game for our great club, clueless and useless

Also sell Ross asp for anything over 15 million

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, but we are usually down to 10 men when he is on the pitch anyway!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 21:08:15
McGready off at last!. sent off!
ffs!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 20:59:35
thank god for that - mcGeady sent off - hopefuly he'll miss a few matches because he's the worst player ever

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 19:06:07
On the Ross debate, Stones, Ross, Lukaku looks like a great spine to build around. seamus too if he fancies it. I wouldn't sell Barkley. We have to keep one eye on the future at least. As for tonight, don't fancy us but hope we'll give them a scrap. COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 19:01:18
so eto'o not in the squad. injured or off to sampdoria?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i really dont know amo

13 Jan 2015 19:00:14
MaGready in again instead of super Kev.
does the Marmite man learn nothing!
ffs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - obviously not hendo..

Kev apparently still feeling his injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not as much as i am tedster if aiden is his replacement..

That stubbornness and obstinacy is going to bring about our downfall, Roberto really has to start thinking about getting the best out of our strikers and to do that they need to be able to play without their backs to the opposition goal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does make you wonder if he is on his way??

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it does mate..

13 Jan 2015 18:57:54
FFS!!!! Mcgeady ahead of kev again I've just been told. What does Bobby see in him that 40,000 fans dont. Play your strongest team man for god sake.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - our revival could rest on this jimmy, if we go out im sure questions will be asked mate..

13 Jan 2015 18:57:34
Just seen tonight's team, why isn't mirallas and oviedo playing in stead of Mcgeady and Barry!!
Roberto is testing my patience.

Mcgeady is absolute dire and Barry is a liability.!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont need any convincing of that pauly mate..

13 Jan 2015 18:51:00
King McGeady again don't understand it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - tell me about it kirbo..

13 Jan 2015 18:28:13
.well, despite what Bobby came out & said yesterday, Etoo's agent has now come out & said he expects a deal to be done with Sampdoria before the end of the window. which means we'll need another striker + 12 defenders to stop the rot! Lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 Jan 2015 09:55:48
An Everton supporter for 50 years I have to bring up the Barkley saga once again. Is he that good? My memories of young footballers that everyone knew to be special stretches back a long way so I will keep it fairly recent and make comparisons to Gaza and Rooney.

Barkley shows promise in similar ways to the two I mention, but I was genuinely excited about those two rather than Ross. He is 21 and Gaz and Roo were younger when they got me thinking positive of an England future.

Ross is injury prone. Only Gaz had problems when he did his knee and carried on like a brat thereafter.

Rooney commanded a fee comparable with money talked about Ross but he was already there IMO.

The conclusion I am trying to get to is 45 mil for Ross will balance books and free up money to strengthen an aging squad.

James Ward Prowse comes to mind among others. Maybe I am getting old and not seeing the potential I should but I can't see having 45 mil playing 2 thirds of the season helping Everton financially or in football terms.

Lets not wait until he gets totally crocked, cash in and rebuild. This season is over league wise and I hope I am wrong, but not good enough to win the Euro or FA cup.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we all seem to have differing views on him smeggs, for me he has the potential to become great, but like you im in the 50 club and have seen it all before, players like rodwell vaughan and jeffers come to mind and like them he seems to flatter to deceive, i would love to be wrong as we all like to see a local lad and evertonian to do well but im not convinced, would i sell him..yes..if the offer was right, over £25m , then i believe for the betterment of the club and as long as it was re-invested in players then i would, it will not go down as a popular decision im sure, but the guy is 21 now and no longer a kid in my eyes, so unless he starts producing it on a regular basis i feel his days may be numbered mate..

Good post, I am also another five O member and again can see the logic in what you are saying, I was so disappointed in the 'demise' of Rodwell a really promising footballer but we sold at the right time it was good business and the lad has not really pushed on in his career from then.
Barkley needs to develop a more consistent playing style not just the odd explosive moment in a game that people judge him on, he did look good in the deeper role against QPR and this could be a long term position for him, but the injuries are also a concern so much bad luck at a young age, so yes it is a risk do you keep or sell?

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point smeggs, as another blue in his 50's I have to agree sadly. Much as I do like Ross, I think he has real talent, at 21 he should be doing a lot more for the team.

IMO unless he starts to put a shift in and shine on the pitch week in week out between now and end of the season perhaps we should consider offers in the summer. let's face it, we have a decent squad and if we got a decent amount for him that was used to strengthen it, it could be better for the club in the short term.

To be serious top four contenders over the next three or four seasons could be more beneficial for the club than trying to build a team around a potential that may or may not develop in the way we hope.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you Wakka, he did look good in the deeper role playing along side Besic! Hasn't played there since?? Surely the coaching staff and manager must of seen the potential and threat that he was towards the opposition.

Agree0 Disagree0

Prem clubs in general are in a better financial situation than ever before and at the time of the Rooney sale we were desperate, like really desperate.

Smeggs I think your forgetting Barkley was out for a year and a half with a broken leg at a crucial time in his development so he's playing still playing catch up but apart from the obvious rawness at times he's still a player that can stuff most in the team can't

Agree0 Disagree0

I think barkley in the deeper role balanced the team out. Besic defending the back 4 and barkley pushing on to help the attacking 4. Worked well but Bobby never stuck with it for following game.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have persevered with 2 defensive midfielders in front of the back 4 all season and have the second worse defensive record so either replace them of play a different style! in the deeper role Barkley had a bit more freedom and space to run at the defence, much like Baines is able to do from left back!

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 16:05:55
I'm quite surprised that there is so much debate on whether we should sell Barkley or not. I've previously stated that I would keep him for as long as we can/want.
To reiterate mikedeblue, the lad was out for a long time with a serious leg break so his development was delayed. The only other major injury he has had was suffered this year so to label him injury prone is a bit unkind. He has got the potential to be special, a lot agree on this, so let's give him the chance to do it at our club, not City or some other vulture, at the club he supports.
Against QPR I think we witnessed him playing in the position he is best suited to. He ran from deep with the ball and caused panic. Yes, it was only QPR but we haven't seen if he could do that against others as RM has shoved him everywhere but there since. The lad is still raw in certain aspects of his game but do we really expect him to be the whole package just now? Give him time to fine tune his game and then judge him. He has mistakes in him but so do the likes of Stones and Lukaku, I'd rather all three made them and learned from them to improve their games.
Money isn't as tight as when we had to sell WR so we are in a good position on who we sell or keep. It's all well and good cashing in but how many players would his fee get us? Bear in mind we would have to pay signing on fees, agent fees and then wages on top of transfer fees. I'd rather get rid of some of the weaker links in the team and give Ross the time to see how far he can improve with us. Should he be sold or kept is a question that shouldn't be brought up just yet, give it another season or two and we will have a better idea as to if he will realise his potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats fair comment spud, its a 50/50 call as i see it mate, do we sell and take the big bucks now or wait to see him develop?, running the risk of him not reaching his potential and having little sell on value or assets to improve the team..

Be a crying shame to let him go I think he has in the locker to be great, he is a victim of the tabloids building him up like some super God and the World cup did him no favours. Keep him at Goodison where I believe he will be a great one day and not just sell him because he's not played the way pundits and tabloids expect him to play and let another team cash in on another fantastic footballer from Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - fair shout lancer..

I think he has the potential to be an awesome player and even though he's 21 he's missed enough football to be 18/19 in development terms. It would be really good to see him in a deeper role breaking forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Jan 2015 18:34:09
I say let him develop and see what happens Ed025, if you haven't already guessed! As Lancerboy says, it's the press that are building him up to be this superstar player, us at EFC know he still has a long way to go and some of us believe he can go on to be that player. It is also the press who are throwing around these crazy figures, as far as I'm concerned no club has come in with a firm 40m+ offer. The clubs they link him to for this price have already fallen foul of FFP, would they take such a gamble? Until such an offer materialises, we should get behind the lad and help him achieve these heights. After all, if he gets his game together and becomes a top premier midfielder then we will benefit from having him in the team. If we sell him then we will make a tidy profit on an academy player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont have a problem with that spud, i agree that there is a lot of pressure on the guy, and that the press are mainly to blame..

13 Jan 2015 08:33:42
RM has clearly stated in his interview yesterday NO offers for Etoo and no enquiry for Marshall so again probably lazy journalism to stir up rumours, let's put this behind us and move on to the next!
