Barkley just isn't good enough to for the first team at the moment. Del boy should start instead of him for the next few games.

I find it refreshing that the manager is not afraid to make the decision of dropping any player or subbing any player who is not at the top of his game. I am sure Ross will bounce back and be stronger than ever. but last night I watched the game and thought that he was well below his usual form.

It's great to see that everything the team does now clearly has a purpose, every pass, every movement the players make. Such a difference to last season when at times we just shifted the ball about for the hell of it.

A cracking 2nd half performance that must've put a smile on even the hardest of fans.

Big thumbs up to the club for donating 200,000 pounds to the Sunderland mascot, what a great gesture.

Best start in 10 years, if key players stay fit and we can add 1 or 2 more in the transfer window in January the end of this season is going to be fantastic.

I got that strange tingling feeling last night and I wasn't drinking neither 😇

Whether it was the Evertonians singing, Roms goals Idrissa's magnificencs, Yannick's brilliance or simply knowing that we have got a fantastic manager in RK 😂

Perhaps it was appropriate that in the Stadium of light I felt there was at last light at the end of a very long dark tunnel 😌.

{Ed025's Note - i like that 247 mate..

13 Sep 2016 08:42:39
Good post Blue247 last night we saw what a good manager Koeman is great tactical substitution which changed the game at HT not allowing us to plough on aimlessly hoping for the players to change!
Great performances from the new boys, back four looks solid again, and gaz baz another great performance.
also good to see Rom back on the score sheet and looking like he's enjoying his football again.

What a great start to the season and the feel-good factor is back at Everton. great performance tonight, think it's going to be a good season as long as key players don't get injured b4 the January window arrives. in my opinion Kone is not adequate cover for Lukaku so 1 new quality striker is needed in January. Now, I have 2 questions for you Ed;
1) Is Ross now playing for his efc future? I thought he was awful tonight - constantly caught in possession, poor passes and poor defensively. at least Koey had the balls to haul him off at half time. we proved second half we don't need him - will he be here next season?
2) how good is Idrissa Gana Gueye? In my opinion he's better than KANTE as he showed tonight he has another side to his game pushing further up the pitch supporting the strikers with his quick precision passes. how the hell did we snap him up for £7 million? This guy is genuine world class talent.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - ross really is playing for his future soli, koeman will not give a jot whether hes a local lad or from timbuktu mate if you dont perform your history, gana looks the real deal to me, very much a kante and imo opinion a guy you can build a team around...call the police..villa were robbed big time..

12 Sep 2016 22:35:58
What a performance and what a gesture from our club for that poor kid proud to be a blue.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i echo that jab mate..

12 Sep 2016 22:34:29
What a second half but "what a manager"! I love Barkley but he was pants in that 2st half. Just like subbing McCarthy in the 1st half he's done the same and changed the game.

Rom's hug for Koeman was interesting and we may see more commitment from him now but I couldn't be happier. Also this Gana guy's not too shabby.

I've just put another humble pie in the oven for Degsy as well😁.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - gana is good even when we are poor john, quality player mate..

No humble pie for me on this one. The manager made 4 excellent signings that contributed to last night's result. All 4 players have been instrumental in our success to date and he seems happy tomake decisions to effect games. Yes we have turned a corner I feel. But I will eat some humble pie if it makes you happy?

13 Sep 2016 10:57:05
Gueye was brilliant again last night and looks an absolute steal at £7m look at his stats last night for attempted passes and pass completion and he was 1st! That from a defensive midfielder apparently. Not long now before the press start selling him for us as they always do when we have a player performing well.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 Sep 2016 12:02:26
Degsy you said we were going to struggle AFTER we signed those players. Can you not admit when your wrong?

We are far from struggling at the moment. Manager can make a massive difference. Winning if the game last night was taking Barkley off. Even though I view him as a top player. Last nights game and the game McCarthy was took off were down to Koeman really.

13 Sep 2016 16:18:09
Koeman was my man of the match last night. The players done well in that second half but I honestly can't remember a manager subbing players immediately when recognising a problem whether it be 1st or second half.

we all know Moyes made his subs usually in the last 20 minutes by bringing on defensive players and Bobby was the opposite.

Koeman as he said last night, knows his players and what they can do or should be doing and is decisive in making those substitutions.

13 Sep 2016 19:16:53
I don't think I did say we would struggle after the signings, but if it makes you happy, I will eat the humble pie. I thinkI said we would struggle up until Bolasie and Williams were signed. but I might be wrong. I am alsonot getting carried away yet as although thae signs are a million times better than under Martinez, we as yet have only played poor teams (Spurs excepted) . Yes it looks loads better and yes I believe we have turned a corner, but I also believe we need 3 or 4 new players for when suspensions and injuries kick in.

13 Sep 2016 21:58:29
A Degsy you were very pessimistic to put it mildly. Our new manager didn't seem to comfort you when I and others were trying to reassure you things will improve.

I agree it is very much early days and our opposition isn't top notch. Still the signs are positive. I also agree we need more players to compete at the very top. That will never change I suspect. Players will continue to revolve during the transfer windows. Even if Koeman gets the players he wants that he said will take 2 years to assemble.

At the moment the squad is pretty decent imho. Koeman will get the best out of them and no doubt build on the current squad come the next couple of transfer windows. There is at least 5 players who will go and look like having no chance under Koeman, McGeady and Niasse for example.

As well as buying players in there is decent players coming through the youths who may make it also.

13 Sep 2016 22:43:50
Agreed mate. But I did say the signings were a good start. Yes I was very pessimistic up until Williams and Bolasi signed although I was worried we ay lose Stones and Lukaku. I still think Stones is a world class player and will be England captain soon for many years. Man City will play super football and be the Barcalona of England. We will have to be at our very very best to get near them. But I am definately a lot happier with Koeman and his determination to get us there. It will be interesting to see how we get on against other top 4 sides other than Spurs. Especially away. It willalso be interesting to see how we get on when the things are going against us rather than for us. eg Baines' penalty going in off the keeper. Can we fight back from going a goal down away to a top club? Lots of questions will be answered over the next few months but yes I am a lot happier now mate. and the most important thing is we are going in the right direction again.

To all those who were slating BK, it's kind hearted things like this that are rubber stamped by the chairman no doubt. Same with EITC. Last night we were class on and off the field and long may it continue.

12 Sep 2016 22:21:40
Well what do we make of that?
My observations.
The Manager is thinking exactly as us lot on this site.
He must have torn into them at HT and told Barley, your not good enough to wear the shirt. (This lad needs to be dropped for his own good, too much hype. will come back as a much better player)

We have a team here, we've at last got that 'Peter Reid' terrier in midfield.

We have a defence that at last knows how to defend corners.

Bolasie will be a legend and Del Boy will too.
Think if Lennon had replaced Mirralas at HT we would now be second, but I'll take third.

We are in with a shout this year and the spirit in the club appears brilliant.

Take yer 10m Martinez, we are on the move, at last!

{Ed025's Note - it works for me as well mushy..

Koeman is an absolute sensation. That is all.

{Ed025's Note - hes top class parky, not afraid to change things or hook players who are not doing the business no matter who they are..

12 Sep 2016 22:02:14
I see moyes bought his knife to a gun fight again. Great result and performance from whole team. Ross a bit of a let down, hense being dragged off. Gerry made a big difference coming off bench. Early days but really excited for the season. COYB.

This is more like it. If we win all of the games that we expect to win, then we will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. I am made up with the start to the season. We drew against Spurs with no Rom and an unfit squad, we scraped through against West Brom and Stoke with Rom not fully fit, and now he's ended his scoring drought and we have spanked Sunderland. To be fair they are poor but we made it look easy. Another win next week against Boro please lads!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - these are the games we have to win tommy if we want to be taken seriously, just 2 other points...how good is gana?...and the club donating £200,000 to that young sunderland kid with cancer is fantastic..well done EFC..

12 Sep 2016 22:39:20
Kone for sunderland didn't look great. Gana looks like the bargain of the season. Compare him to Sissoko for 30 mill and it's good business.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would say great business smit..

13 Sep 2016 05:42:54
Gana is quality Ed, exactly what we were missing last season. Another Walsh gem in my opinion. I knew the club would donate to that little kid, it's a very Everton thing to do. So proud to be a Blue at the moment it feels like we are really going places on and off the field. We are on the cusp of something special.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - could not have put it better myself tommy..

12 Sep 2016 19:30:44
I can't see anything but a massive scoreline in evertons favour tonight. Coyb let's show we mean business.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - that would be great TT but i cant see there being more than 1 goal in it mate..

{Ed025's Note - he need that second half mate..

Lucas Perez, didn't exactly set the game alight on Saturday, I would have been disappointed if he had a blue shirt on .
Our friend Rom didn't like having to fork out 6 thousand for a private jet home with his mates, according to the Mirror, that would have kept the likes of Tranmere or Southport running for a few weeks! Surely the Belgium FA should sort those costs out anyway?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

12 Sep 2016 09:24:39
Perez's first game mate so needs time, the press just exaggerating with Rom as usual so they can stir it up.

I think that the most frustrating thing about the last transfer window is that at long last after years of waiting we finally had the financial clout to rival the 'big boys', however spending it and securing your targets is not as easy as we all thought it would be!
When you've got it the prices rise, the players you want have multiple choices, and the lure of European football overshadows your efforts to build and sell the project this club is aspiring to.
hopefully in January we are able to bring one or two more in.

Papers stirring it yet again. Everton refuse to pay Lukaku and Mirrallas private jet airfare to return from International Duty. Why the heck don't their Country pay their fare.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

12 Sep 2016 01:36:15
Martinez could have paid for it - after all he's apparently had a nice windfall recently ;-)

Quote from the 'Mirror'

''Everton annoy Romelu Lukaku by leaving him to pay own £6,500 private-jet fare back from Belgium duty''

So I said to myself ok let's see what he said, and guess what there isn't any RL quotes to be seen and the clubs that forked out etc. did so because they wanted their players back for Sat. matches, we don't play until tonight so we weren't in a mad rush . . So unless they came back from Cyprus with 'Easy Jet' (omg what a nightmare) what's all the fuss about?

Just crap to sell their lousy rags!

Agree2 Disagree0

12 Sep 2016 17:39:19
even if he did have to pay, so what, they are millionaires, its chicken feed. my boss doesn't pay for my bus fares every week and I am skint, so why shouldn't they pay. anyway it was all made up again by the bog roll rags.
