Great news that RM has signed a 5 year contract. I fully anticipate the development of new signings now this piece of the puzzle has been completed. Good work Board! I only hope that my language skills develop at the pace required to be able to pronounce even a semblance of reality that the new player names demand. However, I do wish that our young lions are given hope that they can cut their teeth next season in the first team squad. I am certain RM has the plan laid out

Quite a while since I've posted, but I notice the doom merchants are out all ready. There's no money available, the banks have taken all the TV money, the board has hived off the money, we'll have to sell before we can buy. Amazing all these people who work in the accounts dept at Goodison and/or are privy to our dealings with the bank. Let's wait and see, other than Lambert who else in the top six has actually bought any one?
PS In the papers this morning Ricky Lambert, 'I can't tell you my first words on joining Liverpool'

I know what you mean Gos, its getting boring now mate, there are some people who just make crap up, Bobby has already stated there is money and we will be waiting until after the WC, bit more patience and a lot less crap please doomongers

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair it's only fans going on past promises and have been let down, but we have never had a shed load to spend so I wouldn't expect any different, last years buys were down to the Felliani sale

Agree0 Disagree0

To start Chelsea have bought as well as Liverpool. You don't have to be in the Everton accounts department to see the budget will be limited. Mcgeady plus Kone plus Alcaraz plus Mcarthy equals Fellaini. Lukaku plus Barry plus Barkley wage increase equals another 5 Mil. We start from scratch this year with more TV money but so do all the other sides. Same boat as last year with the burden of a bigger squad for Europa. Got to replace loan signings as this put off the frosty Friday. Ken"wright" and Roberto have their work cut out! Are the financials out yet? Then we will know.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you will find

Kone = Anichebe
Alcaraz = Heitinga
McGeady = Jelavic + 5m
Mcarthy = Fellaini + 13m

Theres 18m somewhere!

What about loan fees, signing fees, agent fees money owed on past players its never as simple as it looks

Hi ed - I see you popped my other post in the 'other posts' area. No worries. Couldn't find it!

I'm all for seeing new faces in but of what I've heard it right it won't be until someone goes. I'm a little surprised people don't see this.

From what we have Mirallas, Coleman, Barkley seem the most 'sellable' but it would be gut wrenching to see any of those go.

But as usual, it's sell to buy.

And where did you hear this Goat, Martinez has already stated we do not have to sell anyone and we have funds available to buy, do you know someone closer to the clubs finances than Martinez, please enlighten us or is it just imagination

Agree0 Disagree0

Not imagination mate.

Just what I've heard.

And it's Everton. It seems this way every single time.

When was our last net spend?

Agree0 Disagree0

Goat: You forgot to add Stones and McCarthy to your sellable list.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah true.

Those 2 could be there too.

Can't see RM coming out and saying there is money to spend and that we don't need to sell first if that wasn't really the case. Who did you hear this from? Someone within the club or somebody in the pub? The board would be well and truly lynched if they sell off any player after the season we had, we need to build on that not dismantle it. I'm interested to hear who your source is Goat

Agree0 Disagree0

He's hardly going to let the vultures descend by saying we have to sell first, just common sense, I'd be surprised if we have more than 20mil

Is there anyone out there who honestly believes we can attract the top players while we:
(1) Aren't playing in the UEFA Champions League; and
(2) Cannot afford to pay the massive transfer fees for those players - without (considering our current owners' lack of real wealth) going into debt and breaching FFP (that's unless new investors pump huge amounts into the clubs - but as share-equity and not as loans/debts); and
(3) Cannot pay the massive wages for lots of additional players - without breaching the rules about how much we can increase the overall wage bill year-on-year?
That's why loans are so important to us as a club - they're the only way we can get the quality players and still stay financially sound. When we regularly get into the CL group stages, then that's a financial game-changer for our club. Likewise with a modern stadium that generates more matchday income.
The increased TV and prize money is great, but every other EPL club is similarly better off, so it's not like we're the only club who can now afford to be after the best available (at our price that is) players.
I'm looking forward to finding out who actually is on RM's "short list" - and that'll only be as and when we sign players ;-)

Yeah Copwat sid mate after the progress we made last season players will only think that we're progressing fast and will be challenging up at the top.
