Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

I just had a quick look and, as far as I can see, 16 of the 20 Premier League teams have now added to their squads.

I know that a lot has been written on these boards about the need to make the *right* purchases and not repeat the scatter-gun approach of last year, and I totally agree with that. I also agree with the argument that the most important thing, long term, was to create a cohesive structure to the club.

However, I am now a little concerned about the total lack of new arrivals. I'd argue that, in order to position ourselves for the future, we need to maintain our 'best-of-the-rest' tag - some of you might, justifiably, say that's unambiguous, but I'm trying to think both realistically and longer term. If West Ham, Newcastle or Leicester sort themselves out, if Wolves, Fulham or even Huddersfield step up, then we could have a problem that goes beyond the coming season. Obviously, it's extremely unlikely that ALL of those mentioned will have great seasons, but it only takes one or two.

I'm not a doom merchant, and I do think there is some genuine quality in the squad, but I really would like to see us get some business done soon.

Please?!

For all we know, we were in for some of the players that have moved. Do we want to buy any old player? Or players that will improve the squad? Really top players are going to be sought after so it won’t be easy.

You have to consider that the team under performed last season and maybe some of the players that didn’t feature last year will come in and be like new signings. Silva sees them every day so I’m happy to go on his opinion.

Yes Leicester - hopefully Silva can get the likes of Davies and DCL firing again! On paper, our squad is a good one. Some deadwood yes, but if we can pass a few more on, and add 2-3 quality signings, we shouldn’t have a bad season.

Hey FamilySilva give toffeetv a watch brought out a video about the said subject surrounding being worried about lack of transfers good watch.

I believe there is a money problem and we need to sell first and nobody wants our rejects because they are on to higher wages.
We do know the wages have to be cut and this is a bigger problem than we realise. Yes I am worried about the lack of signings, would have expected 1 or 2 in before now as the window is closing soon.
Wish I could find something to be positive about, hope things change.

What is interesting to see is what young players are given a chance. We are so strong in that way and believe that it will be a huge part of our long term success. Who would you put faith in?

Robinson, dowell, lookman, Kenny, beni, possibly connelly should be part of first team. squad this year, and would like to see evans and hornby get a go in the cup maybe.

Nice one Johny. Due to our strengths in relation to the young lads, I think only quality is needed in certain positions. I think the diffict thng is regarding loans. I personally would let sneiderlin go as we need a quality CM and would rather see others given a chance to shine. (plus mentality etc. ) I am proud of our youth.

13 Jul 2018 13:20:11
Yes Johny have to agree are youth talent due to Unsworth does have promise at least.

Although I am not expecting lots of new players I am expecting 2-3 signings that will be better than we have, no way are we going to be able to shift the amount needed to get squad size right players like mario are not that much better than we have providing manager gets best out of them, we need a top drawer cb, a new left back
Central midfielder and what ever we manage to shift out.

Defo need to go

Mirralas
Bolasie
Williams
McCarthy
Sniederlen but if Silva can get him at his best then he is a different player to one we've been seeing but did have a good few games at end of season

Obviously others but not sure on Sandro Klassen not seen much of them but the first 4 don't give us anything.

Schneiderlin is a quality player but he was awful last year. If we could get him playing to the best of his ability again he could be as good as a new signing.

McCarthy is a similar story if we can keep him fit.

My point is that we’ve got some decent players in our squad who everyone wants to ship out, but who would we replace them with for similar money that would be better.

One thing this World Cup has taught me is that the right manager can bring the best out of players. Silva has proved before that he can get the best out of bang average players, so I trust him irrespective of whether he signs 10 new players or not.

Will never understand the eagerness off some of our fans to lose Jimmy McCarthy he's top. top. draw was our best cm before his leg break.

12 Jul 2018 22:20:51
Couldn’t agree more johny, McCarthy is a battler with a great engine. Most if not all good teams have a McCarthy type player that starts. His fitness was a concern before his horrific leg break but he played in 2 or 3 games before the injury and was our best player. He lacks a forward pass or goal but if he had that in his game he’d be playing for a team contesting titles every year.

12 Jul 2018 22:47:21
Is mcCarthy back in full training? If so we should give him till at least the January window to make his case, when fit, top player.

I must be the only one who doesn't want to sign a player? i'm more bothered about who we lose, mori, our best cb who cld score a goal and robles i'd have him 50/ 50 with pickford. but i'm gutted we didn't get wilshire, since barkley left we've got no spark. i'd give this group 1 year because we all know they can do it, we lose lookman and i'm done.

12 Jul 2018 15:22:11
Your also the only one who doesn't want to sign a player, yet is gutted we didn't sign Wilshire. Make your mind up which you want mate lol.

Agree6 Disagree0

12 Jul 2018 15:54:17
I agree but we do need some more back up options in certain positions such as full backs and wingers, last season we were playing Martina at left back because we didn’t have a backup Left back
And on the wing we were playing Calvert-Lewin because Bolasie was injured and Lookman, Mirallas and Vlasic were not favoured which now has come to them wanting to leave the club which will leave us with less backup with Bolasie probably going as well
Also Keane and Williams were a complete flop last season at CB so we could do with a good first choice CB like Mina or Lascelles.
so we don’t need big players but we do need some more backup players.

So you don’t want signings but complain we didn’t sign JW. We have no spark but will still give them a year. Did I read this wrong because I find it all confusing.

12 Jul 2018 17:41:03
But you’d only have Wilshere for 10 games before he gets an injury 😂 🚑
Having said that he will probably go all season without injury now 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Each to their own but we lack too much not to buy. We need more creativity, more solidity at the back, a left back and believe we lack depth on the wing. don't share your opinion, but I do think we have some answers in the sqaud already.

BlueJohns: only just saw your reply to the 70m for Zaha, the link will probably be dead now so decided to post this. Why is expressing an opinion angry? Haha. There was no anger in it. I understand throwing a huge price tag on players to scare off but was saying I think we should stay clear due to the huge price tag apparently attatched due to the reasons explained in the post. I do think its crazy but not in an emotionally invested way. It was about the 'its not your money'statement just as much as about Zaha. Angry haha, I was in spain mate loving life, just thought I'd share a thought with my fellow blues. It is allowed isn't it ;)

Rooney, Mori and Robles already gone. But still have another 18 players in the squad who could be loaned/ sold prior to start of the season. Shows you just how big a job Silva and Brands have got.
Schneiderlin
Williams
Bolasie
Ramirez
Mirallas
Martina
McCarthy
Niasse
Klassen
Besic
Stekelenburg
Dowell
Lookman
Galloway
Garbutt
Browning
Tarashaj
Onyekuru.

That's correct Tedster, just trying to get a conversation going about the task in hand for Silva and Brands. People flapping about not making any signings, but just don't think they appreciate the size of the current squad.
