At a time when football has become so serious, it's so very refreshing that their are some clubs about with such a great sence of humour, for example, Spures "offer" of 20m for MaCarthy, or again, perhaps I have misunderstood, and the 20m is just the 50% deposit till they can come up with the other 20m!

And what mate I don't rate him anymore than 20 mill he hardly sets the world alight and what way are we paying Chelsea for Lukaku that's the way it is these days.

Steph your talking out of your rear there mate. McCarthy is our best player comfortably. And was u hiding when we sold Fellini/arteta ect that lukaku money was always there. Not to mention the money we get every year threw TV and other things

Hahaha it's a story in the paper mate, not sure if your aware of the concept of filling the paper but they generally just pull it out the Air, but I also agree with stef he's hard working and has potential but 20 miles not far of the mark of you actually look at what he offers, tons of heart and fitness but needs more goals and assists to be near 40

I love how in one article it says 'Spurs to offer Lennon in exchange for McCarthy' yet in another article on the same paper (the reflection) it says 'Spurs to offer Lennon in exchange for Mirallas'. 2 Lennons? Those 2 and Doofy Loofy? We would have some pace.

{Ed007's Note - Just hope one of them isn't Neil Lennon! How about wee Neilly Bhoy to replace Martinez? The Ginger Guardiola could put some fire back in the team's belly - he cooks a mean currry!}

Just on a visit to see my lad and his three week old Baby Blue, who already has a fair bit of gear from the Everton shop.
Well after a few beers we got round to football banter and it was a bit like déjà vue all over again, just like the debates I used to have with me old fella years ago. Now I feel a bit sorry for my lad. Although he was around when we last won a trophy he was too young to take it all in, whereas I was around in the glory years.
Well I asked him what his highlight was from last season and he stated Man U at home. Fair enough, we well beat a CL side, but without De Gea United wouldn't have got into EL. I then asked how he thought the team we put out on that day this year would compare against an Everton side from the 80's. Now this is all hypothetical I know and my lad couldn't really answer.
However he asked me to pick a game and a top performance from the 80's so we could compare the players like for like.
I picked the Bayern semi final home game and we looked up both sides:
Now in terms of true world class players I would say there is only one from the whole twenty two. In terms of the two teams I personally I wouldn't take much from the present side, maybe Coleman on his day and potentially Stones. Even though when you look at the 80's side the whole is better than the indviduals. But what you did have was balance, power, team spirit, will to win, points to prove and no little skill.
Southall, Stevens, Mountfield, Ratcliffe (c), van den Hauwe, Reid, Sheedy, Bracewell, Steven, Sharp, Gray
Howard, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines, Barry, Lennon, Barkley, McCarthy, Osman, Lukaku.

Do you all not think we should be going for henandez?
Need a striker an he is quality! Give Joel a chance in goal. Get Lennon an give one off the kids a chance cb? Just look how well stones has done. Talents there just need a chance

Rather swerve Hernandez to be honest. Think we need an experienced centre back and a attacking midfielder as a minimum. Would like a striker too but think Hernandez would cost to much for what he offers.

Hernandez was nothing more that a super sub at utd, not really pushed on and a loan spell at Real did not really put him in the spotlight with more game time which is what he needed to prove he was more than a sub!

Anyone else think McAleny could solve the striker/No 10 problem we have? Looked sharp yesterday

he was immense when he came on but let's not get carried away just yet let's just see how he does in whatever games he gets a chance in

it was only a pre season friendly, but the boy has talent and he will be good back up and a chance to develop with the first team.

GOD NO! What a terrible summer it has been.

1.Everton are playing again
2.We have not signed a striker

And I've just lost 270 quid, well done me. Only thing that could make things worse is if TC signed haha but thankfully that has not happened. Huh? I wasn't having a nightmare? NOOOO.

Betting £270 against Colin Mccgregor's more than funny. Looks like you know as much about your fighting as you do about your football mate . not much! Just cause You don't like many a footballer (or fighter) doesn't mean they're no good. In fact your a terrible judge of talent Swan lol

I'll be honest and say I'm as worried as anyone about the lack of signings alongside the fact that average teams are making big signings. But fighting to be the optimist I try to be, I believe our squad is as good as anyone's outside the top of league. As we all were, I was seduced by martinez in the first year and let down with him last year. Although last year said a lot more than the first, I'm willing to give it a chance. Regardless of anything, there is way too much negatively around and that carries into the team and always will. It's not their fault is the manager and board are potentially ruining the club so let's get behind them

Before last season shut down bobby said he need playmaker and CB. Until now even he has signed 2 but not where he need to sign.
